Latest news: Scalpers, what they are, how they work, and how do they sleep at night?

Where the fuck are all the Groove's going? It can't possibly be collectors, just scalpers right?

Furthermore, Optimus Prime: "What the fuck, this isn't my matrix."
>>

Do we have any plantformer figures? I'm not aware of any, not even 3rd party. I'd love some though.
>>
>>5687300
I can't even think of any dollar store oddity that turns into a plant.
>>
>>5687300
The closest would be Saberback, who has a disguise mode of a plant emerging from a Dinosaur carcass. Takara also wanted to do a triffid Transformer for Beast War's 10h anniversary, but plans fell through.

Hot damn, can't it be monday already? What's up with these posts lately?
Post some Ravage instead.

Shitsuckers.

By giving handjobs in the parking lot of Toys'r'us to lonely neckbeard store managers.

Poorly, because they're trying to earn a living on a piece of plastic that may or may not shoot up in value.

The craziest thing they've ever done was that G2 Dreadwing/Smokescreen set out of Mindwipe and Skystalker. The rest isn't really that out of the ordinary. The last con they just had redecoes of Takara's already show accurate Beast wars Thrilling 30 figures. They also don't get remolds, for better or worse.

So, honestly, how many people are gonna buy a TR toy, swap out its head for one that they don't like, and then return it to their local Wal-mart?

Maybe I'm being paranoid but I feel like it would be good practice to make sure your TR toy has its actual head.

>>
>>5687369
Oh yeah, agreed on that point, especially considering theres companies that make entirely new toys just for conventionss. That said, there's a damned-if-you-do, damned-if-you-don't thing about con exclusives. Make good ones and people get pissed that they aren't available for more people(see, the Botcon 07 Seekers). Make bad ones and people just get upset in general.

I swear, this community has some seriously wealthy autistic faggots in it. I've never me them, but just to know that someone out there is buying shit like this at those prices makes me want to sell off my collection to run as far away from this hobby as possible.
>>
>>5687379
Sometimes we just need a breather from cars and jets all the time.
>>
>>5687378

Honestly they should just stop the con exclusive shit, and instead just release stuff early there. That way you don't get shit tier stuff like Ravage there, but you do come away with something months before others.
>>
>>5687384
This would be nice, or maybe have something a little extra with them, like figures before release but they have a little stamp or something on them under a foot to say like "Botcon 2016" just to make it stand out some from the standard retail.
>>
>>5687388

Yeah, that would be a lot more acceptable. Give something the collectors can jerk off to, but also don't work yourself into situations like the Seeker one.
>>
>>5687384
That just seems like sour grapes because you can't get something from a convention. They had the right idea in the 3H era. Make two-four nicely decoed exclusives with a nice presentation. FP just got greedy and overloaded their cons with crappy exclusives and things that went obsolete after a few years(Ironhide/Ratchet, Kup, Scourge, etc.). But actually getting an exclusive toy at a con is a nice treat.
>>
Going hasbro for headmasters, Not paying 32 dollars for a deluxe just because it has more paint and a target master.
>>
>>5687391

Nah, I don't care about con shit at all because most of it is terribly made. What I said is something I think would benefit everyone though, especially seeing the shit this last con turned out.

You can't honestly tell me you'd rather have that fucking hideous red combiner over getting a shot at the TR stuff long before others, for example.

Fuck Fun Publications. I'll be satisfied if I can get this from a UK person for $300, but I'm worried that those fucked-over guys are going to want $100 as a middleman service, and if the quantities produced are a lot, that will end up pretty much being market price of around $400. Market prices have already dropped back down to around $500 after going up to $700 or $800 for a little while.

Then again, I'm not sure how large or small Roll Out Roll Call is as a convention. I only found one forum that even has this year's convention on it.

I hope Brian Savage and his family are ravaged by some horrible disease and he watches them die before he succumbs himself, all his fucking over of his fellow human for money amounting to nothing.
I need to make sure I'm not tempted to follow in his footsteps. I keep justifying it in my head like "Well, if the goyim are going to throw their money away, who am I to turn it down??", but where's the dividing line? Do I sell all my toys at cost?

I own a handful of 3rd parties. Most of the people in this thread will say that the 3rd party figures/companies are shit-tier quality. I would have to agree....IF this were like 4-5 years ago. Right now most 3rd parties produce much higher quality figures for just a little bit more than an equivalent price of a HasTak figure (talking Masterpiece 3rd party figures here, not CHUG stuff.)

Pic related, MX-II Andras (Behind the MP-28 Hotrod) is a $150 figure, a figure of the same size and quality from Takara would be the same price, maybe more considering the amount of die-cast this guy has, and those individually articulated fingers.
>>
>>5687645
I own the cheapass TFC/Star Cats Dinobots. Do those count? I don't like them very much- I should probably test out painting with them, give them more red and black like dinobots should.
>>
>>5687653

It can't be because of price. Big MP's are well past the $150 range and can have the same quality issues 3rd parties have.

Takara only releases a new figure twice a year or so, I don't see why people can't branch out.
>>
>>5687656

The answer to any big expenditure is to wait for reviews honestly. And ask about their reputation.

3P generals pretty up front with which companies produce raw shit and which make solid gold. Theres a reason why MMC (and usually Hexatron) and Iron Factory are spoken of so much, and it's because damn near everything they make is solid gold.

>>5687653

I'm a weird one because I have no allegiance to the cartoon nor any comic so I just get whatever looks cool.

Everytime I think about getting a 3rd party figure, I always hesitate and end up buying Macross, soul of Chogokin, and other stuff instead. The polish just isn't really there for me to justify the price. The designs always feel a bit off to me. I prefer the best of the official stuff to the best of 3P, design wise.

Ultimately, while I do own MPs and all, Transformers fall n the realm of "cheap" toys, for the most part. Just like how I wouldn't spend $10+ on a Marvel Legend, I don't really see myself spending $100+ on Transformers(unless its an MP.) Plus most 3Ps tend to be designed in Classics style, which I'm heavily trimming down on. As for the MP style stuff, I'm actually patient so I'd rather wait for the official takara releases, rather than something that doesn't match the MP aesthetics.

When we get 3P stuff on the same level of SoC Gaogaigar, then I'll bite.

>Why do Third Party TF's get their own thread?
We had a lot of shitposting
You know that "Takara wins again" bullshit? That "what we could have had" TR pic posted every thread? The retard that post Jesus dashboard stupidity? Multiply that by eleven and that was how things were when the general tried to hold 3rd party and TFs. It was just an endless sea of bait. Some threads were pro Has/Tak efending them and calling third parties over price knock offs that ruin the industry, other threads were praise to 3rd party painting Has/Tak as going out of business and calling anyone that had issue with a 3rd party a poorfag. It got very old very fast and the only solution to stop the stupid was top split the topics in two.

>It gets one post every twenty minutes.
Yet has the same number of users in a thread. Shows you how "chatty" TFGs can get. Sadly I like 3rd party threads more because they are more on topic and don't melt to shitposting as easily as TFGs do. It's clear there are some retards here that just want to pick a fight/shitpost and their are just enough autistis to respond to it rather than ignore.

>Do any of you people own any 3rd party tf's?
I own the two Sharkticon sets made by the two companies Unique Toys and Fan Projects. The fans project Shark leader. The Unique Toys Galvatron and the 3 KFC perceptor micoman like figures.

Is there really that big of a split between marketplaces?
Just in cost. Beyond that it's about the same, one group wants really original takes the other wants more G1/source inspired. But due to the high cost and the fact there are several 3rd party makers everyone gets along rather well and is willing to call foul when a bad toy is made.

no, the discussion is that we got a great, faithful brainstorm in 2014, and a smaller, less faithful one is coming with TR. But some people are mad because they don't like that the good, faithful design happens to come from a comic's design.

It's literally them not liking it because they don't like the people who made it, not because they don't like the product.

Now I'm steadily building a Legends collection, and currently have plans to get the Decepticon Deluxe Headmasters, Hardhead, Crashbash, and more Legends.

Neither of the leaked Voyagers are confirmed for anything, because they're leaks. However, Hasbro did state that all of the Leaders and Voyagers in TR will be triple-changers, so it follows that Prime and Megs are as well.

Megatron's red triangle stickers imply a jet third mode; there is no indication of what Optimus's third mode is gonna be.

The popular guess is that Megatron and Optimus will be remolded into Blitzwing and Octane, respectively.

Megatron being blitzwing doesn't bother me, its optimus into octane since (least g1) he didn't have the shoulder pylons, only the generations due to design limitations did that.

Gonna need a shitload of retooling, I could accept generations octane because its smaller but not TR octane, least based on this current form

So I've been trying to figure out all of the hasbro cw figures that have a alternate head that we haven't seen yet.

Brawl and Skylynx haven't seen either a head only retool or a extensive retool.

The silverbolt mold has been extensively retooled three times, but we've not seen a head only retool of any of the three.

Hot Spot hasn't had a head only retool.

Trailbreakers a oddity, he could be considered a head only retool of Offroad/Ironhide but he's got a new arm (and remolded HFG) so he might have a head only retool.

Rook has no head only retool, Unless it's one of the funpub releases (doubt it though)

Motormaster and First-aid's alternate heads saw release as funpub figures Toxitron and Ratchet. Onslaught had a alternate head as Armada Demoisher which never saw use.

I don't know if the Torchbearers and the takara guys count.

I wonder what the unseen heads where, or if they even existed, what would you guys like to've seen from the above?

>>
>>5688548
If you think Yellow Apeface is forgettable, you can just stick with the Hasbro Wolfwire.

I think part of the appeal of the Takara Deluxe Headmasters is the bonus color-coded vehicle, besides the anime heads (and even then, your mileage may vary). Buying a Hasbro deluxe plus an individual Titan Master pack may end up being cheaper, plus you get an extra head.

Usually they're chromed plastic, you don't use rust remover on that.

I suppose if they have rust already on the older toys sure but I'd consider simple metal cleaners provided it is metal and not plastic seeing how certain versions had diecast replaced with plastic.

I love Feral Rex, but I can see how the aesthetics might bother some. After all, that'll always vary according to taste.

What partsforming on Leodux though? The sword bits (which are more meant to go on Talon's wings as guns than to be Leo's lion chest since the chest is hidden by the lion mane unless you flip him over), or the buttshield? Given how many official TF's have a "weapon is also a part in altmode" I can't really fault that.

I originally was looking at the cheaper NotPredakings myself (because I'm a poorfag), but after I saw they all had some bigass flaw somewhere, I bit the bullet, saved up, and got Feral Rex.

They do, but most people just remove them and keep them on Divebomb unless they're forming the bigass combiner sword no matter what mode they keep Razorclaw in.

Mine personally don't even fit on Razorclaw because it looks like a bar inside him was put in upside down, which affects nothing other than fitting those two bits in. Kind of disappointing I got one with a QC issue, but I only discovered the issue long after I bought him so I can't do a return, and since I never put those pieces there in the first place it doesn't bother me.
