May building challenges:
>make your own Dimensions team based off of a new franchise
>create a new Music star/act for Legovision 2016, also include any instruments or stage props, and don't forget an awesome name
>wasn't there also something about animal vehicles
>build a vehicle or fleet worthy of riding into Valhalla, shiny and chrome
>greeble: remake any set or build something with an absurd amount of greebling
>build a mighty micro vehicle
(any surface type)
>up vote jangs videos
>can may be mini moc madness month: spaceship edition? yes it can
>build a brick-built animal!
>erotic Wyldstyle cosplay
>make a stop-motion / multi-frame animation
>Make a SPACE LIMO
I was disappointed that Stitch didn't come with any accessories, so I made him one.

Does anyone have the MOC picture from a few threads ago, of the swamp beast with an upside-down t-rex for a nose and mouth? I thought that was genius.
>>5679375
>Music star/act for Legovision 2016
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NBY9DuWOzDc
Not mine, but I think they would have had a fair chance.
So I'm traveling to London tomorrow and thought I should check out a Lego store there since they don't have those in my country. Are they any good? And what should I buy there? I can only take something small.
How many Avenger towers do you guys think this is made of?
>>5679387
I do Wyldstyle cosplay. I'll get naughty for ya. ... Um, does it matter that I'm a boy?
>>5679398
Maybe six? I don't know.
>>5679398
I am still yet to be impressed by an Avengers Tower.
The top rooms are just so small but they're the focal points of the films.

Very nice!
I will put classic blaster and TOC as fast as I get him.
Where can I get a huge-ass minifig for making a cast of?
All I can think of is the mummy alarm clock. And I can't find that any cheaper than $20.
>>5679429
Build one using intructions for Gi-antman.
>>5679430
I was hoping to make a trophy. Like a giant version of the nanofig.
Any new themes coming out soon? Stopped buying SW stuff a while ago.

>Um, does it matter that I'm a boy?
Yes. That makes it SO MUCH HOTTER!
>>5679443
Tom?
>>5679429
All the clocks on Bricklink seem to be more than $20, and the mummy is probably your best bet anyway because it has a bare head.
It's been two years now, and it's still my dream to reverse engineer this. Some day...

I think I've mentioned it here, but Lego Vocaloid would be my never-gonna-happen dream set.
Just imagine all the cute little stages they could make for them. Like the Friends popstar sets!
If I could just find the right hairpieces, I'd make 'em myself. But no way is Lego gonna produce floor-length twintails.
>>5679469

Shiittt I would be all over that.

Those are some freaking tiny shopping carts.
>>5679528
Tiny? This is the size we are having in Poland too.
>>5679520
I wish I that much disposable income. Though, I probably would if I stopped pre-ordering animer figures.

Are we hyped for Big Ben?
>>5679559
no not really
>>5679559
I'm really considering buying it for pieces for my buildings. I LOVE tan and gold.
So I'm considering getting my first modular soon, and I'm debating over which one to go for. So far, I'm leaning on the Detective Office, but the Brick Bank looks really good too, as does the Parisian Restaurant.
Can anyone give me their opinions on which one I should go for? The Temple of Spinjitzu is also in the running, but it's not a modular (just at detailed though.)

>>5679520
Please say you're in the US
>>5679606
I would definitely go for the Parisian Restaurant. It's the oldest one out of all modulars you mentioned, so it's likely to be discontinued first (but I doubt that it will happen anytime soon). You can get the rest of the modulars later, those are fairly new and will be around for some time. It's just my opinion, but I would go for the restaurant. It is also my favourite but then again, you might have different opinion.
Also the Temple of Spinjitzu is an awesome set, I agree, perhaps that might be a good idea to get too. I doubt it will stay on the market as long as the modulars do.
>>5679536
Yeah, well, Poland is a third world country.
>>5679674
>I also have the Temple of Airjitzu, but that's my only Ninjago set.
Yeah that's pretty much the only Ninjago set I like. I couldn't care less about other vehicles or whatever else is in Ninjago, but the Temple reminds me the first Ninja theme from late 90s and it looks much better than any other Ninjago set. It just feels different than the rest of the theme, and that's a good thing.
>>5679520
I hope you left some for the children
>>5679700
I agree, I just wonder how to increase the minifg count with figs that fit the setting, and no dupes. I've been looking at two sets from last year, 70746 and 70756. The former has one good fig and two odd ones, while the latter has two very good figs and one alternate dupe.
Are there perhaps sets from other themes that fit the bill?
based chinks
>>5679765
Couldn't you just order some figs from Bricklink? I'd assume that Ninjago figs can't be too expensive
>>5679770
Spider-Man Noir(?) looks like he will come in handy.
>>5679772
They're exclusive figs, so who knows.
>>5679765
The CMF series have had a few. There's the Geisha girl from one of the early series, and she's actually relatively cheap. There's also been a couple Samurai throughout the CMF lines. The female samurai was from wave 13 I think, and she's still relatively easy to get a hold of.
>>5679606
After asking around myself with a similar question I've decided to grab the detective office first, then the restaurant a bit after if I like the first. Then the bank down the road.
Considering everything I don't think you can go wrong picking the restaurant or office first as they both look like solid entries that benefit from the newer detail oriented design process. I guess it comes down to the details you yourself prefer more.
Although there's also the older ones like the Pet Shop and Cinema...
>>5679559
never gonna buy it but it looks great
>>5679460
Why would you talk of reverse engineering when so much of her construction is shown off in the video? It doesn't seem like it'd be too difficult to do, you just need to do the usual finagling to get what you can't see right, or as close to right as you can figure.
At any rate, why not do your own? I speak as an articulationfag and statues make me sad, so instead of moping about something you could build, why not make your own, better Miku?
You could also always buy the figma, if you wanted. Hell, do both and pose them doing silly stuff together.
Thoughts?
>>5679901
Underdesigned hunk of plastic that was phoned in instead of seeking accuracy and interesting build techniques with a couple of interesting minifigs lacking attention to easy details.
Basically a typical modern SW set.

Fuck I hope she's good, I might grab the GhostBusters by the same company if I can see them IRL before I get them
>>5679893
>Why would you talk of reverse engineering when so much of her construction is shown off in the video?
Key parts are skipped, and his hands block a lot of it anyway.
After two years of adult Lego experience, I could probably do this.
>>5679770
If only Gwen had a hood-down option, I'd order this so fast it'd make your head spin.
Hell, I'll probably do that anyway.
>>5679919
To be fair, this is the second set that features Ezra with his saber. Which is a shame since I expected Lego to include him in a more accessible set like they did with Kanan.
The lack of a proper mold for his saber was also my complaint when seeing that the Inquisitor had a new mold for his [nospoilersintoy]considering that he dies in season 1[/nospoilersintoy] but it looks that this wiill be reused for the Fifth Brother, and hopefully for the Seventh Sister if she makes it into a set later on. Still it's an equal amount of sets for both figures, so I can't justify the decision behind this.
Back and top are pretty much done now, it's just the fuel pod and front weapons left from here.
>>5679391
this was pretty rad. made my day anon
>>5679912
>Battle for Ninjago City
Well, yeah, the set looks nice enough, but it offers no interesting minifigs. Four of them are dupes of the ones from the Temple of Airjitzu, while the rest don't fit the temple setting at all, and even though the city looks nice, it's not even close to the temple.
>>5679391
>not using Friends utensils
But seriously I really enjoyed that, thanks anon
How common are the Alice minifigures in the Disney blindbag set? I went through a box and a half of them today, and most of them were either Stitch, Mickey/Minnie or Donald/Daisy figures, but I didn't find a single Alice

>>5680313
>How common are the Alice minifigures in the Disney blindbag set?
3/18 I believe.
>>5680313
3 per box of 60, so 1/20 chance. That said, unless it's a fresh box there's no real way to know. People don't put them back in the same box they take them out, and Alice is a more interesting character in the bunch that's easy to feel for. No real way to gauge that.

Does anyone have any experience with brick-built Pokémon?
>>5680492
There was the guy who made this a couple weeks ago.
>>5680501
Nice. I think I'm going to try to build some from Gen 2, more specifically Lugia and Ho-Oh.
I'll try to make them more or less minifig-scale, and then have them with the Temple of Airjitzu. It gives me some of the Johto vibes, you see.
>>5679641
I kinda prefer the stairs, plus two entirely new figs.
>>5680004
His forehead gem is yellow instead of blue.
>>5680492
>>5680506
I built these guys to shortly after ORAS was announced, defs not minifig scale tho, so I'm not sure how helpful I'm being.
>>5680539
It's not so far off minifig scale, I think. I'm going to see if Ho-Oh and Lugia can be something similar to them in size.
Since they have similar body types, I think I can get away with using similar building techniques for both.
>>5680541
Huh I wasn't even trying and apparently they're basically spot-on in regards to height. Groudon is 11ft and Kyogre is 14ft. What a fluke.
But yeah like you said, Ho-Oh and Lugia are pretty similar height wise. so you could easily get away with using some similar stuff that I did. Be sure to post progress and the finished product when you're done.
>>5680365
Oh definitely, but I'm sure it cost more than 85 cents.
I'll probably get the bootleg now and hope for an official fig sometime down the road.
>>5680578
The tit printing on the chink version is just so bad though.....
>>5680573
I think I have enough parts, at least, with all of these lying around.
>>5680586
You might be good with those sets. If not there's always bricklink to get the bits that you need.

>>5679209
>Did this change with diesel trains?
Yes and no. Sometimes big diesels will be used as "road switchers", meaning they can do both. A good example of this is the SD40-2 design that the Maersk Train is based on. They can be found on both long-haul trains and short local trains that require constant pick-ups and drop-offs of cars (If you've seen Unstoppable, it's exactly what Will & Frank are doing until they get caught up in the crazy shit)
The "rules" for operation were bent somewhat with diesels because of their inherent flexibility. Small locomotives can be found on long mainline trains alongside bigger diesels, and on occasion you will see a large locomotive doing switcher work.
While I'm on the subject, diesel locomotives are classed by 'axle' instead of wheel count. So the one in my photo here is referred to a six-axle diesel, as most large ones are. Four-axle diesels (60052's locomotive is a perfect example) see a lot of work with smaller trains and constructing or breaking down the bigger trains in the yard due to their lower power, lower weight/tractive effort and easier operation on tighter curves.
THis is all strictly speaking about north american railroading. I don't know how the euros work theirs, but it's reasonable to assume they do the same thing.

>>5680755
that pictured one if it HAS to be mcpd and he has the most in the wave
mixadel would be better overall though
one less ball joint for 2 bar joints and he comes with brick blocks a half boulder and some other shit.
i guess trumpsy would also be alright on ball joint count, but his parts arnt massively interesting
this wave didn't have a "this fucking mixel is amazing" like Hoogi was from wave 3 though
>>5680861
like >>5680830
said though, if you have any older ones in your stores, gurggle is the best recent one
the next wave is even "worse" for joints also, theres ALOT of bars this time around, though there also is alot of axl/toeball
if you need joints NOW you might want to think about bricklinking them, but a mixadel, trumpsy, or kuffs will get you a nice variety of joints, just less of them overall.
paladum also has the newer 2x1towball joint, but his joint count is absolute shit, so i would just wait, i think theres more of those next wave

So I have started to get back into lego after years of a nice childhood, and I have started getting things off bricklink, and am into replicating custom designs. I saw this tank build on the previous lego general, and was wondering if anyone could help point out the pieces used. There are a bunch of parts that I do not recognize (having not received/bought any lego since around 2003). First off, regarding colours: is this tank dark bluish gray or dark gray?
>>5682314
It's dark bluish gray; color looks consistent throughout and things like the 1x3 curved slope aren't available in old gray.
>>5682314
Secondly, what is this black piece at the very back and center that hold the grilled plates? It looks like a bracket, but I do not know which one.
Lastly, does anyone have any more pictures of this tank, or a source for who built it?

Potentially! I usually don't care for capeshit but that set also having hobgoblin in it really tickles my nostalgia of the brief exposure to spiderman that I had in the 90s.

I'm not sure about this.
>>5683315
Needs a momfig with the giant brain headpiece.
>>5683257
>>5683272
Pretty damn good. Scale seems good for both, in fact the ratio of stud lengths for both is almost spot on for the ratio of their pokedex lengths between the two. Real good attention to detail there. Assuming minifigs are closer to 4 feet, as in a kid, the scaling is even great there too.
All I'd suggest doing is adding another pair of back fins for Lugia as it actually has 8 of them, and maybe (not sure if it'll be better though) making Ho-oh's tail more segmented/conical to match it's abundance of feathers.
>>5683320
i read that as momfig with giant breasts headpiece for a sec
>>5683327
Married... with Children Dimensions when?
>>5683324
I know, but I only have six of those pieces.
I'm thinking about attempting to build Raikou, Entei and Suicune next, and maybe a Celebi microbuild, if I can figure it out.
If you haven't noticed it yet, Sensei Wu is now the Johto legendary champion.
What would be a good minifig torso to go with this?
>>5683329
>I know, but I only have six of those pieces.
Ahh. The bane of MOCs, the lack of parts. I kind of figured you were out of a few as you didn't go full white where possible, but wasn't sure.
I'm interested to see future builds, and maybe even steal your build plans. Wonder if I have enough parts laying around to try making a scale Celebi myself, although that'll definitely look weird...
>>5683334

It's not quite as good as Winter Soldier. It feels a bit like Avengers 2.5, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. The characters are well developed, and the conflict makes sense.

Maybe they are statues that come to life and attack.

No. I think I'm gonna take my kid brother to it for his birthday though.
Means I need to get him caught up, too.

>>5683634
When is it? You should watch all the Iron Man films as well as the two Avengers films to catch up, and perhaps Ant-Man too (Ant-Man is good). The rest (Thor films, Guardians of the Galaxy, the Incredible Hulk) are not so important for Civil War.

Heh heh heh, im right there with you man. Got the big blue for a christmas gift, my gf loved it so much she bought me the passenger train on a lark and now wants to get more track after seeing the videos in these threads of the guy who has a train setup that goes through his house and into his yard. Hoping the new train sets, when and if they ever fucking show up, are nice as fuck.
I want some beast trains, real work horses. I dont know much about them, but have always liked the looks of old as fuck steam engines and hardcore shit that transports heavy shit. That Maersk one is nice as fuck, but I may have to go chink just to get one for a reasonable amount of cash, and sadly the 2016 chink version isnt the classic light blue....also all the pictures of it and a couple of the other 2016 brand train sets from china have "power functions".....one of the PF items it shows is an actual AC adapter. For as much as I defend chinese knockoffs in these threads, I would NOT trust a chinese battery box that has to be charged for a lego train set....

I think at this point 60052 is your best bet. The first PF train set, #3677 does a pretty good job of representing burly German diesel engineering. It's climbing in price though.

If we're talking about the CW one it's actually really underrated, people give it shit for being much smaller than the AoU one (which is almost comically big) but it looks a lot more like an actual quinjet (more of a pentagon shape than a regular jet) imo
you can also get rid of the gimmick (ladder dropdown) by just taking out the ugly cog on top

>>5685685
but I'm having trouble working a loading ramp in here, any suggestions?
tw: grays mixing
>>5685687
Hinges...
>>5685670
It's got enough space for one figure in the back "cargo" hold, which is essentially just a door to a small space leftover for where the gun mechanic tucks in. You'd probably need to stick a brick in there to give their legs something to grip onto or they might fall out when the gun drops down how it naturally is.
>>5685674
Cockpit has 2 well fitting proper seats, so for sure there. Basically more of a combat quinjet through and through without the troop transport potential of the usual ones.
>>5685690
I see. So Cap and Bucky in the front, Hawkeye and Scarlet Witch in the back, Ant-Man anywhere he wants and Falcon outside?

Well if you open it up and use the rope that hangs off you could do that, but to get space for the 2 figs with the door closed you'd have to mod to remove the drop down guns and give it an actual cargo hold.
If you do that right you might be able to stick 3-4 minifigs standing front to back in there. Depending on how much work you put in the redesign that is.

I came up with this ramp that can slide in and out. It has some vertical alignment issues right now I didn't have enough of these http://alpha.bricklink.com/pages/clone/catalogitem.page?P=2653 so I made some with jumpers.

Okay this is an awesome idea. Half ramp, half entire moving floor to make loading/unloading easier.
Not sure I can work it into this ship, but I'm definitely going to use it somewhere, thanks!

The moving floor was a flaw. It can be reduced to 4 plates high and a six wide foot print, by using the 1 x 4 with grooves.

It's funny how printed torsos are often cheaper than plain torsos in the same color.
