To be fair, the length of time between the first few releases in this line wasn't a good indication of this series having longevity. Goku, Gohan(Cell Saga) and Piccolo were the only three figures for a couple of years before we got anything new. Couple that with the slow releases of the Web Exclusives made available for US customers, no one really knew what was going to happen with this line.

You can't pretend that you knew they were going to make newer and better figures all along. This series was essentially brought back from the dead.

That's an unfortunately situation I suppose, but some people are balls-deep into this line. People are willing to pay like, $1200 for that SDCC exclusive SSJ Goku, when you can buy the standard one for about $30.

There are just many different mentalities with these figures. Some people want all of them, regardless of how outdated they are. Some people just want one of each figure, etc.

Honestly I think the mentality of "I only want the best version of this character" is kind of dumb, because you're just chasing around figures that may or may not ever exist. Not to mention that there is a good chance that someday a better version will come out no matter what line or what character.

The movies did a good job of having a bunch of characters participate in fights with the iconic looks of a given arc. So even though I don't have Cell, I can have a bunch of character beat up on Broly. which almost works out better because not many characters actually fought against Perfect Cell.

You know at first I was pretty annoyed about the new vegeta thinking "why couldn't they have picked ANY other character to do this with besides the character that just came out.

But then I thought about it and realized I collect dragonball figures. I don't collect just one of a character and then never get another one of that character, I collect a lot of the same character.

I will admit they are being extremely jewy if they don't put in a base head. But over all im happy my favorite character is getting an updated figure I just simply wish it wasnt a character that had just had a figure released.

It's not even a question of "if". As soon as I saw that new armored Trunks, I knew Vegeta was coming. There's just no way Bandai would let that opportunity pass without milking it in some way.

Yeah, as rotten as this release may seem now, PC Vegeta gave us a lifeline for a Vegeta release besides the Super one. Sure, a downing ~$50($65 in my case) on a release that just went outdated seems like a lot, but how many more people would've dropped around $200 on a 1st release Vegeta in between the time PC Vegeta got announced, and the reveal of this new one? Its almost a stop gap measure. By the time I can get the new Vegeta, it will have been nearly a year since I got the PC one. That's, what, 9 or so decent meals I could've bough in that year? One other figure? That's not a major loss. My display has a Vegeta for the next few months, and that's enough to justify it for me.
