I just spent another 45$ on Mega Bloks Warcraft sets I already own. Bought that fucking helicopter gnome thing for $15 only because I lost one single exhaust piece, only to find it second hand a couple of hours later, together with some figures and my third Horde siege machine for $10.. And I don't even have the shelf space. Ah well, one day I will be able to build a huge Stormwind battle scene, I guess. Or kill myself.

Turned out to be 17 plus one MOC made of MB and Lego. Yeah Warthogs are my favorite sets of the line and I'm loathe to pass up on good deals.

For some weird reason there were four Wolverine wheels among the bits but nothing else from that vehicle (Wolverine only has 2 of them just to make it weirder), turned out to be a boon as I gave them to that original 'Hog and used its wheels to complete the EVA's Last Stand 'Hog.

I very much regret not getting the Blue Rocket 'Hog when we still had Target here...

Haha yeah. And ironically CoD helped out Halo MB-wise by introducing a new level of articulation, I still love all my old Halo figs but the newer ones are able to pose more realistically.

Could also point out that a Halo Legendary ending isn't necessarily canon, that bit with Johnson and the Elite in CE sets the precedent heh.

So I had the broadsword and hornet, just got the nmpd pelican, flood hunter falcon, sabre countdown, and vulture. Rate my haul and suggest a build order. (Also trying to get a h4 pelican, if anyone has a spare)

Mattel acquired MB beginning of 2014, Scarab hit the shelves near the end of that year. To be fair MB did the Forward Unto Dawn set before Mattel and I'd imagine were already planning the Scarab when they were taken over.

If you do the math the Scarab is actually a pretty good bargain, comes to about 7 and a half cents per piece, by comparison Forward Unto Dawn was closer to 9 (both going by the USD price of $250). I mainly passed on the Scarab due to unsteady finances at the time but also I have nowhere to put such a gargantuan build. The regrets though...

I don't see Mega getting any of those properties. Star Wars saved Lego, they're gonna do whatever they can to keep them around. And Disney, who own both Star Wars and Marvel, seem to have a good thing going with Lego anyway.

WB owns the licensefor Lego media adaptations, so it's doubtful they'd give the license to make building sets to a rival company. Which is a shame, because the idea of a set of fantasy Mega Bloks figures with the modern articulation and customization, especially ones based on Middle Earth, has me erect.

Eh, the Covenant Storm Lance has a couple of Plasma Grenades you can give to the Grunt, but by default he comes with a Pistol.
I've been giving mine the Needlers I got from the Blue Drop Pod Elites.

Actually, I like blind bag Grunts, at least when they're a common like Marines or Minors, since their huge tanks usually make them an easy feel.

The issue is they will ALWAYS ONLY HAVE A PLASMA PISTOL!
Pistols and Needlers just feel cheap; They're SIDEARMS!
At least give us a Grenade or another Sidearm to DUEL WIELD!

Girls clearly don't buy MB and boys clearly don't want girl MB figures, so the only females in any of these lines will be tokens like Cortana or helmeted Spartans (so the point of their gender is moot). Mark my words, there will only be 1 female in the entire Star Trek set, and it will be Uhura in the Enterprise Bridge set.

Hell, even if MotU Bloks happens, you're not getting girls in that line either. They'll intentionally avoid making figs of Teela, She-Ra, Evil-Lyn, and the Sorceress.

Seeing this really makes me wish MB would get the license for GI Joe and do it in CoD scale. Either that or their own original series with figs in that scale would be phenomenal, like unique superheroes and villains, all with an aspect of customization and unique armor, the builds could be like little battlefields or goofy vehicles. Pretty great if you get them on sale (which seems to be almost all the time). the Arny one is pretty good, does a decent job of looking like him (for a 2 inch figure). Unlike the other guy i quite liked the sets, time machine is cool, and the 4 pack set works great if you get 2 of them as with 1 its quite small.

So the individual micro figs for the movie are about $3? I haven't seen them in store. I heard good things about the foot soldiers is why I was asking.

Dude, I had nearly every Transformer Kreon minifigure, and tons of the GI Joe ones, as well as some other random ones I bought.

Literally every figure I had, had something wrong with it.

Almost half of them have stressed or cracked hand-sockets right out of the package.

Some had broken or frozen joints.

Most had really bad paint apps. They don't use the same way of painting LEGO does at all. Kre-O paint apps on their figures flake off with almost no effort.

Lots of them had really poorly printed faces. I had at least a couple where the face was applied almost 90 degrees in the wrong direction.

I had some that had shitloads of flash stuck the parts.

What's more, by design, you can't really have their legs flush with each other so they stand up normally without a stand or some sort of support.

They were bad.

Snagged one for $45. It's very cool. Even has a cockpit with little doors to get to the pilot. Just wish MegaBloks was higher quality. There was one malformed piece, and their plastic is always kinda meh when compared to other brands.

The set includes a bit of scenery (not pictured) which I just had to wing because I lost the 1st instruction booklet after I had started on the 2nd one. Blimey.

Anywho, the soldiers (not pictured) who came with the set came with a wannabe-RPK, a slightly-more-functional UTS-15, and a AR-15 I had to throw away because the media told me those are evil.

Now the bit where I nitpick. For some reason, this set was missing a few parts. Very small ones, but enough that I was getting a bit annoyed. I might go and order them off the website, but I'll probably just scrounge bits out of my parts bin.

Also, on the REAL BTR-80, the top half of the doors on the sides are supposed to swing open towards the front of the vehicle, not the rear, but I don't suppose anyone at MB is as borderline autistic about Soviet war machines as me, so I guess I can let it slide.

Honestly, this set is my favourite MB set ever, and it totally would have been worth the full asking price. I'll give it a 9/10.

If they're new in box maybe, the collectors market for MB isn't nearly as big as that for Lego though. Thing is most people don't associate value to MB stuff like they would for Lego, you'd think a pile like >>5673335 should be worth a decent amount but the guy was only asking for $15, even offered $10 when he wasn't able to to the transaction in person but I felt it was a big enough steal already, heh.

Additionally most people want the newer minifigs, a lot of the older ones have been updated to the new articulation and the line isn't slowing down anytime soon. Older sets, particularly in the first couple waves also had more quality issues, the first wave Hornet is the one set I own that has some parts glued on cuz they just wouldn't hold together well enough.

Pic related was a thrift store find, 11 bucks and was only missing a couple pieces (which MB replaced) and the minifigs, already had a Phantom so that didn't bother me any.

I got the head of a DC mighty mini today, found it while walking around. It's damn close to fitting on Mega Bloks bodies just right off the bat, but I think I'll have to widen the hole a bit to make it really work.

It's Khal Aquaman, so it's a head that will really work quite well with a lot of character designs.

No my pic, but this is the head I found. Resting it on the neck joint, it's a perfect scale, now I just have to open up the ball socket on the head a bit with a rotary tool or something and it should pop right onto the neck joint of any Mega Bloks fig.
