I look forward to the Robecca and Hexiciah exclusives.

This is oddly not the first katy perry type doll - Barbie has one with blue hair very much like her.

I know that most wont agree - but i wish EAH would go more color oriented like the Birthday pieces - extreme colors in hair and outfits etc. I feel like EAH could embrace the color more. Though i do know that EAH does have the princess stuff, it's themes and designs are at times off the wall. Spring Unsprung could have been a lot more colorful but with less clashing prints with black.

I reckon we'll see some cross-pollination soon enough. The EAH heads are getting more streamlined, and the MH heads and bodies are getting chunkier. Transition between the two is getting easier and easier.

Frankly, I wouldn't mind seeing a "monstrous" Briar covered in thorns, or Kitty with an even creepier grin and actual cat features, or Raven going extra-goth with some creepier motifs. But who knows when that'll actually happen.

I don't know how well they're selling but they have another line (so far there's been the regular line, coronation wear line, and genie chic line) being released this summer or fall.

I think the franchise is fairly popular (the book sold very well, sequel book on the way, movie was popular though not well made, sequel movie is coming, etc etc) but the dolls... not so much. The franchise seems most popular with tweens and very young teens, who just aren't buying the dolls.

Well the truly plastic outfits were mostly for the boy dolls of the line with hardly any joints in the dolls. The problem with the girls is the material used in outfits are really rough to the touch and are inferior in design to say from Ever After High and not as tough too. Go to Froggy Stuff on YouTube they have a review of the dolls from the first run and they had quality issues with some of the dolls they bought.

I work for the UK's biggest retailer and we just reset our huge toy aisle in my store and things I noticed:

By what standards? The Mattel dolls, even their "deluxe classic collection" from recent years, are absolute shit. The dolls all had molded bodices and bizarre samefaces by the end. They're just slightly below the quality of the regular Disney Store dolls, and even then the Descendants dolls look better than some years of the Disney Store dolls (looking at you, shit glitter years).

By contrast, the Descendants dolls clothes aren't stiff or scratchy, almost all the dolls have multiple textures in their clothes (fur, faux leather, tulle, cotton, etc) and each doll has a unique eye stamp and face mold. They are articulated, and come with multiple accessories per doll.

You can try nail polish remover, the kind with acetone in it. Personally I don't use anything but acetone, it removes the paint cleanly and easily.

Whatever you use just make sure you wash the head afterwards, any chemicals left on the head could potentially ruin it. If you do a Google search on Monster High customizing you'll be able to find a bunch of good tutorials. Definitely read up before starting, they are worlds of help! Good luck anon!

The thing is, people are comparing Hasbro's first wave Disney dolls to Mattel's last wave Disney dolls. Mattel was clearly putting no effort into the line for the last couple of years, but Hasbro should had given the initial launch their very best. If what we got is Hasbro's best, then Disney made the wrong call, plain and simple. Compare, for example, Hasbro's fanciest new Frozen doll to Mattel's fanciest Frozen doll, and the difference in quality and execution on every level is glaringly obvious.

Mattel makes tons of stupid business decisions and floods the market with subpar products, but they do have the knowledge and experience to make nice fashion dolls. Hasbro has none of that knowhow and seems to be perfectly satisfied staying that way.

Disney Princesses is far and away the most popular licensed IP brand for toys and such. It beats out just about every toy IP except for mainstays Babs & Hot Wheels. It was Mattel's third biggest money maker. And now with MH cooling and EAH pretty much on life support, there's a BIG hole in Matty's profits.

I can see why they need to do this though. The reason I stopped collecting was because there were too one shot characters whose designs were hot messes and some of the themes were getting stale. I guess now is the time to find and grab whatever dolls I missed out on?

pic is just an example, but it's a good idea. the four on the left are the budget dolls with less articulation. dolls on the right are the new basics, they also don't have stands anymore from what i hear. i know that for Epic Winter for EAH, the dolls are advertised as having stands and don't come with them. not sure if that's the case with the MH ones though.

so it's also been confirmed that the new EAH signatures/basics (jillian/meeshell/nina) also don't come with stands. thanks mattel
