You guys ever done a build colab with someone where you have done nothing on the actual build but get them reference pictures and suggest ways to do things because fuck me it feels good.
I've been thinking of dipping my toes into the Architecture line.
Any of these sets that are particularily good? I really like the look of those "skyline" sets

No but I always wanted to build and play with other fans of Lego. Shame noone has time nowadays...

I've got a challenge suggestion.
Greeble: Take any set or build something with an obsured amount of greeble.
>>5635876
Not him, but it looks to me like the stud-stud connection you can easily get using any given Technic pin beam or connector end.
Basically you just attach two bricks to both ends of the pin connector end with a brick akin to this one. It's technically illegal due to the studs putting some stress on the pin hole, but it works as a double-jointed connection in this instance.
>>5635620
I post WIP here all the time asking for suggestions. so yeah, I'm always expecting anons to do that.

inspired by the talk of metal slug vehicle anon and advancewars i tried to make a rounded turret section of a Neotank styled vehicle.
I'm not all that happy with the wheeled platform it's on yet, i might get some of those rubber tracks that were in the ice exploration theme.
Made it space police themed because i had these vectored/rounded pieces of them laying around unused since forever.

Sure. I misspoke; it's more accurately a wheeled robot, not a vehicle. I know I've posted it once before, but I never posted the full backstory.
As a kid, this was my "sigfig" who was the main character of all my adventures. His name is X-1 (super-original, but in my defense I had never heard of anything else called that before). It's a robot invented by an futuristic science organization dedicated to monitoring other timelines and realities and defending them from evil. Though it lacks hands, its antennae have tactile telekineses, so it can pick up things just like a regular minifig can.
Thanks to the immutable laws of time travel, it has to reach 88 MPH before it can travel through time. Luckily, it's so advanced that as long as it has a little big of wiggle room to move forward, it can instantly achieve the required 88 MPH. It can also fly by popping the tires partway off their wheels and angling them. It often surprised enemies who didn't realize it could fly.
There were two minifig scientists who worked for the organization, a male and a female, but I don't remember their names and don't even know if I bothered giving them names.
X-1 ended up spending a lot of time in Space Castle Dimension, because I really liked that setting.

Virtually everywhere sells them for 3.99, aside from Target, that occasionally likes to charge 4.99. Here in Texas we have a local chain of supermarkets that are currently selling Series 14 and 15 for 2.97. Don’t know if they’ll catch the error on the Disney ones.

Here's like almost every robot i ever built or modded that is still intact.
Not pictured is my classic space robot command centre (6951), but then again people still aren't sure whether that was supposed to be a centre that commands robots or a robot that happens to be a centre for something.
Is still all kinds of wacky cool though
>>5636911
Oh shit, is is there already such a thing as legoquest nostalgia?
>>5637059
>Then again I doubt they'd sell much over that price and realize that.
Apparently Lego sets the regional MSRPs based on what they think the people in the country can afford, so sets in poor countries are ostensibly cheaper (in dollars) than sets elsewhere (or would be before any import tax/ bribes/ etc).
I don't know how much variation there is, but I read this info on a legitimate site.
>>5636904

For the anon in the last thread who was concerned about the broken sword in the Vizier's back, it was already mostly broken due to somebody bending it almost all the way off the hilt at some point in my dark age. I just finished the job to get that shot.
I keep a collection of broken parts to use them specifically for situations like "just impaled a dude". There's another pirate sword that looks like the end was held up to a fire, and the Castle sword used to be part of the Game of Electroswords throne until I knocked it off the table and that blade snapped clean off. There are some other broken pieces but they're more functional than front-and-center so they're still in with their kin until they become completely useless.
I also have a broken motorcycle handlebars that sometimes shows up in After the Brick, but I don't know where it is right now.

Thank you, though. Actually it's a pink light pointed down and reflected back up by white paper. I know my way around a camera but I'm still learning a lot when it comes to lighting, particularly at such a small scale.
>>5637197
Hulkbusterfag here, what camera do you use? Im stuck with a shit smart phone for the time being with no ISO etc settings that I know of. I WANT to improve, I even have a decent chinese lightbox figured out, buts its the camera gear I have issue with on my end.
>>5637197
I didn't think it was just laptop keyboard reflection, so awesome job. Your camera might have different settings for different types of lights (tungsten, etc.) that changes the way it detects light and color. I use that a lot to do things like make gray crater baseplates look like tan sand, or make more or less contrast between the land and sky.

I wish I'd got more of those sets, but then again I did get the mansion, twice
>>5637204
I have a Canon 600D, but I don't have any lenses specifically for macro so I use one that's for portraits but does great depth of field. The downside is that I have to be very far away from the subject when it's so small and I lose a lot of clarity.
As far as phones go, you're right in that there's not too much you can do. However, I would honestly say that lighting is as, if not more, important. Your chinese lightbox alone should do a great deal to make your photos look more professional, even if they're taken on a phone. Once you remove the glare (I still have trouble with this, as evidenced by the harley photo), like Lego Quest showed in an earlier thread, photos look a million times better — and that's all lighting, nothing to do with the camera.
>>5637206
I wouldn't have even been able to pick that those are grey baseplates; they honestly look like sand. I think I just need more ways to defuse light so that I don't get a great big glare in the face of my minifigure.

Sad thing is my GFs brother replaced his older DSLR camera with a brand new one, new lenses and everything, and just has his old one collecting dust with all its extras. He actually offered it to her and she didnt think we needed it. Of course this was before we both got back into lego, so at the time our junky cameras and smart phones we had were good enough for cat pictures....

Believe me, I know. Was pretty pissed when she told me. Im working on her trying to get it from him, but its been a while, and she doesnt want to come off as a dick, plus hes a photo addict, so he may be using the old one as a "tosser", as in he sets it to take a bunch of pics on a timer and throws it into the air, so who knows what condition its in right now.

>>5637249
>Can you please give me a run-down on how you use your baffles? (Even so far as where you point the light(s))
OK, I made a diagram. The black rectangle in the center is the table that I shoot on, as seen from standing in front of it. The upper edge of the table is adjacent to a wall (which is where I put the colored backdrop pieces).
The standing lights come up higher than the table, and the baffles are wider than the bulb shades, so no direct light (not counting the little bit that gets through the cracks in the baffles) shines on the table. However, it hits all the walls and the ceiling and bounces around (diffuses) before illuminating the table.
Basically, I'm making the room brighter (and thus lighting up the minifigs more) without shining any lights directly on the table. The reason you get glare is because the bulbs are reflecting off the surface of the pieces. By increasing the ambient brightness of the room and simultaneously taking away the direct light, you illuminate the whole set more evenly. Note that the background shadows in the pic here >>5637225 are deeper in the top image where no baffles are being used and more muted in the bottom pic with a fully armed and operational baffle station.
Let me know if you want more information.
>>5637348
That is incredibly helpful, thank you very much!
>just bought a yugioh booster pack
shit, why did I do that? I should be focusing on one hobby, could have spent the same amount of money on a small set instead
>>5637335
Thats part of the thrill of it apparently. We had given him an old junky point and shoot to use for that before, but he always didnt like the quality of said photos (as if that really matters when said photos are a picture of a literal blur. Filter that shit up, drop some effects on it, boom, "art".), and to be fair that P&S cameras lens was getting fucky in its old age. But yeah, even if his DSLR was 20 years old plus (which I dont think it is, I dont even think its ten years old...), thats a decent piece of kit to consign to being tossed around literally.
>>5637373
>buying cardboard

>>5637373
Having multiple hobbies is fine. Focusing on just one thing gets boring. Even the people who are really into LEGO branch into photography to showcase their stuff, or something similar.

>>5637355
>>5637365
Thanks, I wasn't sure how helpful the diagram was going to be.
In retrospect I should have used two pieces of posterboard, one white and one black, and made baffles that were two sheets thick so the white "inner" surface would reflect more light and the black outer surface would keep any light from getting through. I would suggest doing that if anybody else is going to make their own.

and I did have the microfighters ghost in my hand at the time before deciding on a bunch of cardboard stuff. I'm an impulsive idiot, and I'll just leave it at that

Love how the Triceratops head seems to fit on the Dragon's jaw. Before I get excited and scramble through the cocaine can anyone confirm it works irl?

I just noticed they are about $48 on cracklink. What was the retail? Is that worth it for a sealed set?
>>5637479
I payed 30 dollars for it opened
>>5637484
Nah man, I love the full experience. Slide my xacto through the sicker seal, fold open that pristine box....mmmmmmmmm, that freshly opened set smell of plastic. Uncrinkle dem bags, slide my xacto SLOWLY through that clear plastic, pour those bits out on a plate......
Nothing better.

>>5637591
Holy SHIT, I remember these being bad but not THIS bad.
>>5637595
There were the larger sets they sold kind of like bionicles I think, and then those smaller McDonald's toy versions. The kid was the worst one of the smaller bunch, as you can see.
I think I still have a set of those smaller ones in a bin somewhere.
Wonder if the show ever actually got a proper end too. I know it wasn't very popular, but it did have an interesting premise.

>>5637373
I've had the same problem with Marvel figures lately. So many characters I want. Venom, Ben Reilly/SpiderCarnage, SpiderGwen, White Tiger, Ant-Man when they do a Civil War version... but they're $20 each! Plus since they do them in short waves, rarity and the aftermarket is a thing.
>>5636950
I didn't know that bumper cars set existed, but it looks great, if a little small.
>>5636205
Nice work. I'd like to see more Totalitarian Space Police stuff.
This must be one of the nicest mech Lego ever did. Beside Kai mech of course.
It has some nice figure and parts selecttion too!

I'm also glad to get a Ronin minifig with an actual good set. Plus I'm a sucker for any lego mecha so it's pretty much the perfect package.

Hello,
do You have by any chance a manual on how to make one of these figurines?
http://www.brothers-brick.com/tag/warhammer/
http://www.moc-pages.com/folder.php/6912
I'd love to make stompa, or a dreadnought or a killa can,but I can't find any manual on the internet on how to make them (And I'd love to make one for myself to stand on a bookshelf)
If you have, could please share? ;)
Best regards,
Dynio

Holy shit! That is an awesome back-reference.
>>5638025
This is the second time Exo is referenced, there is a sticker with sentai mountain in one set, but I have no idea which was it.
>>5638007
Sadly the creator - Jerac is a guy who never share the instructions. But seeing them in real I must say they are quiteeasy but then need a lot of flexes and they are VERY fragile
>>5638007
dude, you can see the whole space marine. just build all the visible parts and just fucking put them together. maybe if your stuck someone will help you with a connection, but noone is wasting hours of their life making instructions for some leech on the internet. the most youll get is a breakdown photo of the moc. the creator doesnt even owe you that, fucking hyena. if you cant reverse engineer something then fuck off
>>5637591
>pic
think you just answered your own question
>>5638057
how fragile? I often wonder in those kinds of mocs if pieces are just sitting loose on top of or in between other pieces, yet we can't notice such things because we're looking at a static image.
>>5638060

ok. see this picture, it has literally 100% of what you need. according to his mocpages, it uses no weird flex tube connections or double levers. its 100% buildable in LDD. so, do that? build the visible sections then put them together. this requires a basic literacy with parts. like, do you know what the five kinds of 1x1 bricks with studs on the side are?
>>5637816

>>5638298
Anything that floats your boat. Go to Lego's website, look at the neat City and Neo Knights and Ninjago and stuff. Since you mention interest in Trains I'm inclined to mention Technic for its models and model functions.
Use Bricklink for added fun of whatever flavor you like.
>>5638373
I know I have seen videos of them making the sculptures online. I think they put metal bars in the big ones. They don't move at all even with kids hanging on them. I'd guess they have some sort of anti theft built in
Thanks to my brother i finally could put my finger on what was wrong with my neo tank. FEET. I managed to find some sockets from old bionicle sets and went to work. I'm missing one leg and foot tip in black each, but for now it is functional. The "real" thing also has wheels on it's feet, this is possible to do, but i don't have the parts for it right now. But for now i prefer the proportions and hydraulic looking legs to the original wheeled one i made.
Oh and as a bonus?
Turns out i completely accidentally made the thing compatable with my crate transport truck trailer thingy after i removed just a few parts.

1x1 with stud on side
1x1 with stud on two sides
1x1 with stud on four sides/travis brick
What's the fifth one oh god unless you're counting technic brick with a pin through it
Dynio
Finished the dragon. Pretty cool. It starts out with a bunch of moving Lego sculptures kinda like a small world type ride. Then you actually roller coast.
>>5638295
It would be glorious.
>tfw you helped build a old portion of the models for legoland Florida
Glad to see someone enjoys my Chima figs! Wait until you hit miniland, man.
Also, fun fact for you: the models are coated in a uv resistant spray that periodically needs to be removed by being blasted with ground up walnut and reapplied. It's the same stuff cars are coated in so no matter what the plastic will eventually fade causing the entire model to need rebuilding.
Oh and yes, the large models do have steel frames inside of them.
>>5638433
oh cool, how are these thing designed btw? Do they use some kind of digital software that aproximates shapes into bricks/voxels or somthing?
>>5638438
Lego had their own proprietary software that allows digital rhino files to be turned into sculpted 1 X 1 brick designs which the designers then refine and clean up before handing off to the builder. Sometimes a Lego employee only version of LDD is used on smaller scale things or models that require specific pieces like the majority of miniland.
>>5638216
It's a little after lunch, but I made it to heartlake city
>>5638433
>by being blasted with ground up walnut

>>5638476
>>5638468

>>5638476
We use a chemical that causes the abs plastic to melt and fuse together. Of course beyond that, interlocking techniques are used. A lot.
I made a post apocalyptic car.
>>5638506

https://rebrickable.com/mocs/sheo/modular-railway-station
And this is the current partslist of what I still have to get.
http://pastebin.com/wXdgA3GN
Really just a lot of rarer pieces, and way more of the common stuff than normal. I'm thinking 40-50 buck chunks a paycheck to do this.
Anyway, Bricklink is where to go right? How fast do shipment not from USA take, like from Europe or Canada? What about Pick a Brick though?

>How fast do shipment not from USA take, like from Europe or Canada?
Canada shouldn't be too terrible. Rest of the world highly depends on if you pay for Economy or Priority and also where you order from. Week or two would be my best bet.
>What about Pick a Brick though?
Absolutely take a look there if you want to, but you need a fair share of luck because they don't have everything

>>5638620
The main problem isn't that it's a shitty set in itself, it's a mediocre playset, the problem is that it has the UCS mark.
The just fucked up big this time, as they've shown that they can make playsets that still look nice (Sandcrawler for example)
This Hoth set is just a mess, ugly builds, useless features (outpost not in the movie, really big tauntaun feeding station) and it's way too ugly for an AFOL to display and way too expensive for 99 % of kids
Do minifigs count as a "LEGO construction purchase"?
I think I'm going to get that new Porsche

>>5637473
It does work. I owned both the black dragon and the trike figures back in the day and tried the swap myself in person. Its what gave me the idea.

>>5638699

>>5638082
Pretty sure it counted it as head, body, legs. I'm pretty sure the arms did come out too though, so it should have said 5, unless they were treating it minifig style where you don't count the torso as more than 1 part when piecing it out.
>>5638620
Well that review killed my interest in that set. Seeing how everything looks behind shows how shitty the build is. I was already hesitant due to that whole ONE snow trooper for the whole set, but seeing all the details really shows how lazy the designer was.
Star Wars sets in general seem to really be lacking lately. I see a trend of making things "playable" with shooting elements instead of a solid set that looks good from more than one angle, and isn't trimmed down. I hope this trend of making sets that are made for front display only that include projectiles for play ends soon. The design ideals between the two counteract one another and make messes like this set.
Also, I loved that bit about making it "accurate" and then also tacking on stuff that they think should be there. I guess it snowed on Yavin 4? /autism
>>5638512
The gap on the side where the cutout slope piece is should be filled in, so the curve is continuous.
Have you tried using the newer mudguard pieces, with the smaller arc?

>>5638911
As far as lego is concerned they are.
Which of these figs is going to be scalpted and hard to find? The distributions seems even with boxes, but I'm sure one will be more popular than the rest.
>>5638977
I think the Toy Story alien will be the cheapest because he already exists.
>>5636937
uh
no
>>5638986
Huh. Is he cheaper to buy loose to to just find a blindbag with an obvious antenna?
>>5638977
Obviously Buzz. Alien probably too, due to how well a bunch work together. I can see the mice and ducks ones being less popular due to the heads, and then kind of an even spread of desire after that. Overall a decent selection such that no real great/bad ones stick out.
>>5638986
That could happen too, but those sets were a while ago.
>>5638977
I believe Stitch. Cat and Maleficent to be the most popular

>>5639440
Well, no. They were all plush animal things. The employees will trade minifigs off their badges with you if you have a figure to trade. lots of them were basically steals. At least to me. They used to give out a printed duplo brick after the Factory Tour attraction. It was shut down to be renovated. So I couldn't get the duplo.

>>5639456
I can actually prolly get you those ploybags, cus hear this bizz. For the cost of a ticket, they will let you in the park for 1 hour. Then when you come out they refund your ticket price. AND! If you spend $20 dollars or more, they refund your parking. They had a bunch of starwars ones, the mini mech #30291, kai's fire dragon, a rocking horse, the sky pirate anchor thing, a friends icecream cart, a bunch of the holiday boxes for valentines day and easter, and these figure battle packs.
>>5639457
Really liked the trading.
>>5639459
I'm not sure anyone would like it, but if they did the little bumps up it would be fun. Like painting the plates.
So I'm looking to pick up some little Star Wars sets. I was going to go with the Geonosis Battlepack and the Senate Commandos Battlepack, but after some research I'm being tempted to just bricklink/ebay some Utapau troopers instead.
I'd buy them all, but I'd rather save that money and spend it on upgrading my LAAT or AT-TE than just drowning myself in clones. (My LAAT is peeling stickers like a motherfucker, so it needs replacing with brick/plate details instead, and since I'm doing that I may as well make improvements)
I want the Geonosian troopers because they're different, I want the senate commandos because I have an unused republic shuttle (or whatever that set was called) that would make a nice Jedi/Senatorial transport with them, and I want the utapau troopers because I'm a huge faggot who likes the 212th battalion.
Anyone who has some/all of these sets able to give advice on which minifigs stand out or are worth the price now? If not I'll just keep wracking my own brains trying to decide.
>>5639480
Octan barrels kind of look like waves of colour, rather than straight rectangles with bumps. Would work fine, but take more effort.
>>5639487
Fuck I hate peeling stickers. I need to figure out something to keep stickered parts decaled forever.
As for advice on the sets, I never bothered with them despite wanting all those awesome minifigs. The swap to the new blasters has turned me off those star wars army builders hard. I liked using my imagination and having good-looking weapons as compared to stud shooters where I can lose all my parts and never hit anything anyway.
>>5639499
I'll try and get a picture compilation of my LAAT stickers tomorrow. I don't even know what did it, but every sticker on this thing has peeled up and cracked. it's the 7676 set, so basically every detail is a sticker.
It's not even the big stuff I'm really concerned about since it can all be replaced with carefully placed smaller parts. It's mainly the Republic symbols on the 2x2 round tiles. I know a printed version of these exists, but they're ridiculously priced whenever I've checked.
As for guns, yeah it really sucks. I've been using the long blasters with a black technic pin over the end for ages now since I prefer the longer bulkier look. So that's another bunch of things I need to buy off bricklink...
>>5639517
less than 20 cents isnt that bad for the republic symbols. you only need like 4 or so, right?
>>5639525
I'm UK based, not Murka. Although looking at it now they're not as bad as I thought, still kinda pricey but I guess that's the same for all printed parts.
>>5639517
I have one of the original LAATs, and same thing happened to mine. If I put in some effort could keep the details of the stickers, but without some way to prevent future peeling all that cleaning and trimming the peeled ends would be a waste of time. It's a shame they haven't fixed that somehow, and still insist on using stickers.
>>5639530
I have some really old sets where the stickers are practically gluing the blocks together and are incredibly 'play-proof' since they survived my childhood in extremely good condition. But the newer stickers have really been nothing but a disappointment for me. It's a real shame my recently OOP sets just kinda end up ruined after a few years.
>>5637398
I have no idea what most of the switches do.
One of the May challenges should be make a brickbuilt animal. I know at least a couple other people like making these!
>>5639480
Fuuuuuuuuuuuuck dude, id kill for you to get me some of those castle battlepacks! How much are they?
>>5639560

HA
>>5639302
Something about the phrase "confidential" being slapped on a princess themed children's toy really cracks me up.
What a remarkable time we live in.
>>5639611
wait until you hear that there's apparently organized crime centered around stealing and selling lego.

>>5639480
Where are you based at, because I will take you up on that offer.
I'll take 2 Sky Pirates and how much are the Nexo Knights shit?
>yfw you're going to make mad bank by selling shit to anon's who can't go there
You better fucking open a Bricklink store, fagget.
>>5639614
Ten or fifteen years ago, this could have been the plot to a South Park episode.
And here we are.
>>5639603
I'm pretty sure they were around $15.
>>5639615
The nexo army thing was $15 too. I think the sky pirate was $5. I have a bricklink store, but it's pretty small. I'll post it if there is a demand. I haven't got any kind of polybags in it. I started it to sell a Kbox of dark red 1x2 bricks.
Also I might be wrong about prices, but I feel those are correct.

>fucking what? just a prize game? What's their endgame here?
It's that they bought from whatever prize distributor sells to shitty carnival sideshows in Florida.
>>5639623
For the record, if you got me one each of the castle battle packs id be down. Also doing it through bricklink would for sure streamline the process a lot, and be better for the more paranoid among us im sure instead of just emailing back and forth.
>>5639658
ooooo, now that would be neat.
>>5639623
I definitely would want one of the nexo battle packs!
I am excited about this order in a way that I haven't been for a while.
I'm completely Ok with going through Bricklink. I believe I also saw 30374 The Lava Slingers and 30373: Knighton Hyper Cannons in the shops if those are appealing. At any rate, if you E-mail me we can figure out a list of sets and a day for me to go collect them.

Well this is embarrassing. That field isn't the email field anymore? [email protected] If you need your Legoland fix.
>>5639708
1 each of 850888 and 850889 will do for me. Ill send ya a message here in a day or two, got to clear this with the SO. Also try and get the for sure price on them if ya can.
My call sign will be "michiganbro", so you wont think my email is random bullshit, ill put it in the subject. Also, where are you at? US or overseas? Not familiar with where the lego theme parks are, so if this is something I should already know, my bad.
since thread is dying i'll post these
originally for /wsg/
more accurate v12 crank, unstable though.
the transmission, only 2-3-4 though.
>>5639737
I'm here in Florida. It's the Legoland Florida park. I looked up the US MSRP and it is $14.99 for both.
>>5639749
Cool. Ill definitely hit you up in a couple days.
>>5639708
>Hyper Cannons and Lava SLingers
PLEASE. HOW MUCH ARE THEY, AND HOW MUCH IS SHIPPING TO CANADA?
>>5639764
When you say Canada you need to be more specific. There's a lot of potential distance to cover that can add a few more bucks.
>>5639747
I am not sure if I actually see any difference in speed.
>>5639769
Ontario, Canada. When are you planning on going back? I don't get paid until Thursday, so if you're going back before then, then it's quite alright if you skip the Nexo Stuff.

One of the challenges could be to make a stop-motion / multi-frame animation
>>5639774
This is not really a stop-motion, you know.
>>5639783
That's why I specified "multi-frame". If it gets in as a thread challenge I will totally make a true stop-motion animation, though.
>>5639785
Well, it's just my opinion but it would look much better in comics form instead of "multi-frame" animation.
>>5639790
You're probably right. I just made it as a joke for another anon a while back.

Thanks.
I probably should have boughtt he entire set, but I dislike the Agents' car thing. Should be not so huge, I think.
>>5639181
I'm getting Dougram flashbacks again.
Man, Crab Gunner pilots were heroes.
Help. Mixels were on sale for this 4th of May sale and I tossed all of series 7 into my cart as well. I think I'm falling back into uncontrollable lego spending. What's the cure?
>>5639829
Buy some sets to take your mind off of it.
>>5639832
But I just did that. Droped $100 on mixels and star wars. I need to slow down on the spending.
>>5639834
Well, whenever I make a Bricklink order I put a bunch of frivolous non-wantlist stuff in my cart, then winnow it down until my total is below a certain limit.
I think I asked this once before, but fuck it.
Are these things a good deal for fluffing up my brick stock? I don't seem to have nearly as much as I remember.
>>5639846
Trans-clear pieces are always cool.
>>5639458
pics??
>>5639846
I feel like there's something missing here.

>>5639849
>>5639852
>>5639854
These boxes. They worth it?
>>5639822
I also dislike bulky oversized builds. You get all best things from this set anyway.
>>5639863
Judging by the raw price per part, yeah. But do you want those bricks?
The price per part is 4 cents each for that set. If you just want to fluff up your bricks, its a good deal. But if you know what genre you want to build, you can bricklink many common and useful pieces for about that price or less. I'm about to buy about 2500 parts off bricklink, and even factoring in shipping from 8 different sellers and the fact that I'm buying only specialized parts(clips, hinges, claws, mixel joints, absolutely no bricks in the whole order) its still well under 10 cents per part. Buying only bricks would be cheaper obviously.
Why do you need bricks? At most scales plates are more useful. If you do need bricks, do you need every color of the rainbow, or just grayscale or brownscale?
>>5639863
im not sure if you're the person i answered before asking about them either
basically, if all you literally want is MORE PARTS numerically? then yeah, they're good
but the problem (and the good part) is they're in a ton of colors, and the part spread isn't even
they had sets when i was younger that sounds like what you would really want, it was just a bunch of 2x4 bricks of 4 colors.
the problem like i said is going to be shitty part spread. you buy three of those to just "up your part count"? lets hope you want three white doors, some lavender logs, pink 1x4's and green cones
because none of those parts are going to really show up in another color, and theres not going to be enough of one color to build anything of respectable size
that being true, like i already said, its alot of sheer parts for cheap cost. just dont expect to be using that pink to say build a log cabin. or say green being helpful in "i want a blue car"
>>5639874
>Why do you need bricks?
Basically, for buildings. I don't like using plates for fucking everything. I got pic related last week and I had a blast doing it, and I would like to make more like it. Hell, I would love to do the factory scene bit in the OP, but I don't have the right kind of parts to pull off the things I am looking for.
When time comes for me to set up a table like I want, I'll need shit for loading docks and warehouses and who the fuck knows what. Structural stuff, basically.
>>5639878
Based on these two responses, it sounds like targeted orders are the better bet for me.
>>5639889
if its buildings then definitely not. realistically you would be able to make 1/3 of one of the floors in one color of a similar scale to pictured
you could get lucky with ebay or pick a brick or something, but yeah, you're going to be looking for one color at a time really.
>>5639889
Are you going to make your layout in that set's scale?
