Where to buy
>GSC Online Shop - some figmas only are available through their online shop
>Amiami - usual place for buying, to some people, shipping is a bit higher due to packaging
>Hobby Link Japan shipping is usual lower, but their prices are a bit higher, private warehaouse is available
>Hobby Search Japan - items stay in stock the longest
>Mandarake - search figma or フィグマ
>eBay/Amazon - only if you hate having too much money. Avoid bootlegs, you can spot them as 'Chinese version'
>http://jungle-scs.co.jp/ - Seems like you can fine some good deals here
>Check the BST threads, My Figure Collection for any offer/deal

The S shape is always good advice though. The basic idea is that straight lines tend to look stiff.

Following up on the RAH discussion from the last thread... It's not just the faceplates that make a lot of them seem like the upscaled figma versions. The accessories and outfits they come with are virtually identical. The same goes for all the hand parts they come with.

RAH were really designed as action figures too rather than being a dress up doll. Some do come with multiple outfits that swap out easily though. Pic related.

I'm not a scalefag but 1/6 is something I never planned on getting into mainly due to the cost.

But seeing the Black Swordsman Guts figma stick around ¥12-15k is making me seriously consider getting the RAH instead, at ¥18k it just seems worth it. I hope it doesn't become a slippery slope for me.
>>
>>5622309
Decent deal IMO if you have a place to display them. You don't have to accessorize them to fully enjoy them either since they already have their essential gear. You don't have to deal with brushing their hair, worrying about body staining and all that other extra "real" doll care either.

One of the figure on my shelf collapsed and it created a domino effect resulting in Guts falling off and breaking his shoulder. I'm pretty distraught about this, is this fixable?

So the shoulder is a double ball joints, not a standard figma joint peg, so I couldn't even pull the broken peg off his shoulder. Any recommendation on what do??

Dumb question.

How do I get the red flame effect piece to stay on Ninja Slayer's arm?

I'm trying to recreate this pose but it keeps falling off, I've got the gauntlet lined up with the imprint on the bottom of the effect piece but it doesn't seem to have any grip.
>>
>>5623687

Take the hand off, put effect on, put hand back on?
>>
>>5623696
That's how the throwing star effect piece works, because of the small loop which goes over the wrist.

You don't need take the hand off for the flame effect, I just can't get the damn thing to stay put.

The black one is usually around ¥7000-9000
The red one is usually around ¥5000
>>
>>5623769

There's a more recent version of the red ninja under the name Hattori Hanzo that is decked out in some extra crazy shit that should be a bit cheaper.
>>
I want a Nipako figma so bad. I'm not a big fan of soft fabric clothes or I'd just get the picco neemo.
>>
>>5623820
It depends what you want out of the figure.

Hanzou doesn't come with nunchucks, throwing stars, or any effect pieces. He has a spear and katana instead.

I already have a set of 1/12 katanas so Ninja Slayer seemed like the better choice for me.
>>
>>5623586
Interesting. I'll have to check it out.

>>5623610
I believe the newer ones come with one less face but have hats. The EX Mika has 2 different hair options (one with pig tails), and Rika has animal ears.

The new ones have the ball jointed hands and I'm hopping newer bodies (see: updated ass tech) and 2.0 articulation.

I have Mika on PO. Can't wait.

You're supposed to hook it on the front of the forearm at the wrist, then snap it in place near the elbow, like the instructions show. It's very difficult to clip it on like that in actuality though, it's too tight. I just used a hairdryer on mine to soften it up and then put it on like the instructions say, it went on quite easy and it stays on.

It's losing on every front except maybe paintwork. Just look at how off the joints are, how stiff some of the range-of-motion is, and how disproportionate some parts like the feet are in relation to the rest of the figure.

That said, it'll probably scale better with generic/Western six-inch figures, so if that's important to you and the Marvel Legends versions aren't cutting it they may be worth investing in.
>>
>>5629155
>and how disproportionate some parts like the feet are in relation to the rest of the figure.

I feel like the only person around here who likes the big, bulky look of the feet and hands on some of these figures. I mean, it is a man in a high-tech suit of robot armor. There's got to be actual plating, padding, and room for all the wiring and hydraulics for all the fancy shit the armor does.

Some of these Iron Man figures look like they either have a tiny anorexic man inside, or like the guy is wrapped in red tin foil or something.
>>
>>5627334
Neat!
>>
>>5624275
I'll never get tired of that smiling face
>>
>>5629296
You're not alone anon. I like the way it looks too and what you say makes sense, there has to be room for the tech. Plus I wasn't able to get the last Iron Man Figma and I'm glad this is coming out. I also ordered the SHF Mk46 so it'll be nice to compare them.
>>
>>5629155
The SHF Mark 45 is terribly scaled though. The Mark 45 (and Mark 46) is actually one of Tony's most thickest and bulkiest suits yet its scaled around the same size as the Mark 43 SHF. It's one of Bandai's common problems though, and given what happened to Ultron and even Vader in their Star Wars line, it's not really surprising either. Not saying Figma is any better (that one still looks awkward), but they're not really doing themselves any favors when the designs that SHF kept using were the concept artworks for quite some time.

TokyoToys is such a piece of shit, I'm so relieved the London one's gone. Your best bet might be to try European stores instead, I've used Archonia, Figuya (they don't have a huge Figma selection) and Starshop Brescia in the past without any issues whatsoever.

Yeeep, unfortunately import shops, while fun to look through, are not the place to buy.

Forbidden Planet in NYC has Fire Mario figuarts for $50 FUCKING DOLLARS.

That's right. $50 for Fire Mario. I've never seen such atrocity anywhere else.
They charge $50 for Playset E or w/e it was too. I wonder if they sold a single copy and if so who the dumbass is.

>>
>>5630895
>London one's gone

Damn, did they finally run out of clueless weebs in Pikachu and Naruto onesies?

I remember I picked up a couple of things from there that were inexplicably decently-priced when I lived in London, but 95% of their stock was absurdly, unreasonably overpriced and the atmosphere of the store was cringe-inducing. I felt bad for the idiots shopping there.
>>
>>5631151
>Forbidden Planet

I saw Mikasa figma there for $65+

I bought her on Amazon for ~$50

Those stores are a rip off, NYC really sucks when it comes to toy stores and hobby stores sadly, what few there are are expensive as hell or filled with useless hipster junk like Toy Tokyo
>>
>>5631409
everyone knocks on Image Anime, and rightly so, but they do tend to discount shit that doesn't sell and their gunpla prices are not terrible. Likewise, Kino's bluefin distributed stuff is also not overpriced.

that doesn't help when it comes to figma though.

The only reason it's random is because they don't have the manpower to check every single package that comes into the country.

I've only had a figure get caught once, and let me tell you it's one of the shittiest experiences ever.

>pay £30~ for figure + shipping
>wait 1-3 weeks depending on your chosen shipping method
>package gets held up at customs
>wait 3 days for a letter saying 'you have to pay X amount or you're not getting your package and we'll send it back to Japan, you have X days to pay'
>pay ransom of £13.50 + 20% tax
>package is delivered 2-3 days later

Is it just me or is it really hard to figure out which hand grips which gun?

The hand with a more extended grip is the only one that can fit the pistol with its square grip, but I don't just see how its possible for the smaller grip hand to grasp her rifle correctly, I'm worried I'll bend the fingers too much trying.

Anyone who has her can weigh in on this

Wrist guards are attached to the forearms which not only makes the hands look awkward if twisted, but also makes the wrist pegs really difficult to remove (you need to remove the wrist pegs to switch in the repulsor hands because they have a peg attached). Knee pads like to pop off pretty easily. Legs have an alright outward range of motion, but they could be much better.

I can deal with the knee/hand flaps and hip range, but I'm worried about the wrist pegs and paint appearance over time. How do you remove the wrist pegs without stressing them, and have you noticed paint developing weird splotches?
>>

>These turned out way, way better than the Bandai Body-kun and Body-chan figures.
I missed those. What happened?
>>
>>5632471
Is it not going to be up on Nippon-Yasan like all of the Figuarts exclusives? I don't follow Figma outside of the Marvel, Fate & video game stuff they do.
>>
>>5634408
Just took a look at mine to check. Looks like there are small splotches, mostly on the chestpiece under his arms. However, they're pretty weird because they only seem to be visible when the light hits them just right but can be completely invisible when the light hits them a different way. Could be an issue if you're super picky, but personally I still really love the paintjob on mine. I don't think I would have known about the splotches without it being mentioned.

The wrist joints are complicated. Mine fit really really snugly into the forearm so it was really hard to get a good grip on them. I had to get my fingernails around the ball of the joint and attempt to twist and pull it out. Never felt that the joint was in danger from this method, but it wrecked my fingernails. Could be a different story if you tried to pull it out by the actual peg. Also worth noting, part of the difficulty is that the wrist guards are stuck there so they kind of get in the way when you're trying to use your fingers to get that little joint out.Once I got them out the first time, I turned them around so that the longer peg went into the hand while the shorter peg went into the forearm and that helped a bit.

As far as I know Kadokawa specifically distributed the licenses between Bandai and GSC, meaning each can only create a specific character on a specific line. If there's an AGP of one character then it cannot have a figma equivalent vice versa. It doesn't apply on statues though.

Guys, I like the new archetypes, but am I the only one bothered by the huge gap they have on the back? I presume it's a design choice to increase articulation, and maybe it's a good trade-off, but it's very offputting for me.

Don't get me wrong, I'm definitely buying, but I want these mostly for head/partswapping with other figures or maybe even for custom figures and that unsightly gap is not great for that. I really want to buy a few of these, but this is causing me some doubt as to how many I get.
>>
Hey everyone, need some help here. So, recently, I've fallen in love with the SP-041 Insane BLS figma. Absolutely love everything about the design. I have a habit of getting into older figma releases, so it's not the first time I've had to pay premium for something like this. Now, usually, I wouldn't be >bloggin like this but I have no idea what to do.

It's fucking 18000. Yes you read that right, fucking EIGHTEEN THOUSAND. That is an insane price tag for a figma. Like, that's the amount I'd spend on my toys in three months or more. I have the money however, and it wouldn't put too big a dent in my wallet because I have a 1% job but still, nearly $200 for a figma?

From some of the youtube reviews I've seen, she's not even worth that much. Most people put her down as:

>Good looking af.
>Nice accessories.
>Too few face plates.
>Weird quirks like her hands are too loose and her hair comes as a pin on (unlike the standard BRS)
>Excellent sculpt and joints.
>Moderate overall.

Now, I want to spend some money on a figma. So, tell me whether I should get SP-041, or something else.

Some things:
>Nothing too lewd. (BRS is the limit)
>Nothing pricier than her.
>Nice combat'ish figure.

I own her and she's fantastic. I ended up paying £200 for the DVD box set with her on eBay (before I knew what Mandarake was) and I don't regret it at all. She's kinda tricky to pose but she's absolutely gorgeous. The paintwork in particular is just sublime. I would say, be careful with the smaller stand that supports the cannon lance. It's a small piece of clear plastic supporting a massive lump of gun, and is very easy to hamhand.
>>
>>5638774
What about her grip and her eye-flame? A lot of people say those are way too loose?

>>
>>5638779
Her eye-flame is a tad loose, and she doesn't exactly grip onto the cannon lance handle very well, though considering it's supported entirely by the stand due to its colossal weight it's not really a problem. She holds her sword just fine.
