Where to buy
>GSC Online Shop - some figmas only are available through their online shop
>Amiami - usual place for buying, to some people, shipping is a bit higher due to packaging
>Hobby Link Japan shipping is usual lower, but their prices are a bit higher, private warehaouse is available
>Hobby Search Japan - items stay in stock the longest
>Mandarake - search figma or フィグマ
>eBay/Amazon - only if you hate having too much money. Avoid bootlegs, you can spot them as 'Chinese version'
>Jungle.jp - Seems like you can fine some good deals here
>Check the BST threads, My Figure Collection for any offer/deal

Short illustrated posing guide by Max Factory

The S shape is always good advice though. The basic idea is that straight lines tend to look stiff.

>37,630 anime dollars
>>5570265
Is that supposed to be biker outfit Gilgamesh to the left of the DRRR lady?
>>5570270
>37,630 anime dollars
Plus paint :^)
That said, I'm glad I only got two A racks so my third can be a B. Mixing in guns with Picco Neemo clothing in those drawers will be cute.
>>5570299
No, that's Izaya from DRRR.
>>5570260
I just got her yesterday.
Not familiar with her source material but she looks really nice.
I wish she had some accessories of her own though, most of the stuff she comes with is meant for Cobra, who I'll probably never buy.
The extra lower body piece is really neat, I'm glad they included it for that sexy crouch pose.
Great ass too. I hope the Zero Suit Samus figma has similar levels of ass-tech.
>>5570308
I need to get on that gunrack life. mine just sit around on a table.
has anybody gotten payment requests for motoko yet?
I still haven't gotten it.
>>5570370
I don't think anyone has because they tend to arrive at the end of the day that's listed for release on GSC.
>>5570370
Goodsmile took my payment on the 16th
>>5570422
it's the 25th in Japan
Not exactly the ideal weapon to fight a titan, but it'll do.
>>5570483
I'm aware, but I've never once received a payment request from a partner shop on the exact day in Japan but a day after (in this case, 26th in Japan, late night 25th for us). I figure it's that way because they receive the stock on the 25h, but doesn't mean they calculate shipping costs and what-not immediately and it takes them around a day.
How worried should I be about plasticizer leak on older figmas? I mean, I suppose Figmas are designed to be easily fully disassembled but it's still a pain in the ass to clean that stuff.
More variations of LA gloves when?
>>5570270
>37,630 anime dollars
You could buy two GUP tanks for that.
Or one when you factor in shipping. But still.
>>5570308
>Plus paint
Nope. Those aren't painted.
>>5570579
Don't worry dude, Eren will back you up!
>>5570725
>dual wielding machine pistols
why?
>>5570724
>Nope. Those aren't painted.
He's saying that it'd cost even more than 37k if you wanted to have them painted.
>>5570730
because he saw it in his favorite videogame
>>5570707
try before you buy nigger
try before you buy
>>5570730
Why do you think it came with two, dummie?
>>5570744
So you can have a silenced and unsilenced variation. the AKM came with two, you don't see terrorist's dual wielding them
>>5570748
>terrorist's
The only terrorism here is your assault on the English language.
>>5570753
This wasn't even funny but i laughed
>>5570748
I beg to differ, sir.
>>5570743
What do you mean? I live in the middle of buttfuck nowhere so I can't really handle someone else's figma.
Has there been a release date announcement for the Vitruvian Man?

>>5571329
>she's crazy and hot

*sniiiiiiif*
not technically figma but similar style. Anyone heard of this brand? Any good? Yugi looks like a fucking binder but this dark magician is my favorite design
>>5571422
It's Revoltech
>>5571422
>Anyone heard of this brand?
Where the fuck have you been that you haven't heard of Revoltech by now? There have been threads about it pretty consistently since /toy/ was created.
>>5570270
Should have used this pic
>>5571256
Muh nigga.
>>5571491
I think you missed the point, that was a promo shot for their new figma.
>>5571422
Warning: don't
Revos are shit
>>5571422
JUST
Has anyone bought a figma that was leaking plasticizer?
>>5571246
the show is boring as fuck too, the girl is top heavy and that's all kiss less japs need to like a character.
Got payment request for Motoko finally
>>5571809
So did I. Thought it would have came yesterday, but ah well.
what is this new platicizer meme? Is that why my figmas are sticky?
>>5571843
>meme
I don't think you know what that word means
>>5571843
why is everything a meme now?
>>5571855
>everyting is a meme is a meme
That's so meta.
>>5571895
Recursive memes, hahaha.
>>5571855
Blame the normie idiots that just started using the internet within the last 8 years
They've bastardized internet culture
You needn't look any further than what they've done to the word "meme"
Fucking faggots
Anyone got a side-by-side of the new and old Yoshika figmoes? From promo shots, it only looks like there's minor changes.
seriously do figmas have plasticizer leaching?
>>5571991
My saber 1.0 did, granted its old as fuck, and I didnt care for it too much.
She's rip now.
>>5570268
Is her gun a kit?
If so, it would be hilarious to see people complaining about needing assembly
>>5572001
>The 'Little Armory' M4A1 Type runner kit is included in a limited model that has earth-colored optional parts.
sounds like it
>>5572004
It'll be fun to see the hamhands try to assemble the tiny parts without modelling equipment.
>>5571993
>My saber 1.0 did
My first one did too. The reissue is fine, though.
>>5572073
For some parts, like the main body, I glued that with gorilla glue brand super glue. I held it tight while it dried, and that kept the 'slots' on the gun tight as well, so when you put in a stock or magazine, it definitely goes in to stay in. There's only one or two sights that I had issues with, the one on the MK18 and one of the MP7's I glued in place. The others fit very well on the picatinny rail, the SCAR one feels very good to put on, same as the M82A1. So, there's going to be SOME glue involved, but not everything needs to be glued in place.
>>5572089
should really be using model glue/plastic cement
>>5572099
Does it matter?
>>5572104
plastic cement actually welds the two pieces together, if done right they actually become a single piece. superglue can also leave a lot more residue.
>>5572116
I don't have any residue, I applied very carefully and all along the insides, and it didn't expand when it finished drying, however I was only working with what I had on hand. I'll definitely shop for plastic cement for my next project, thanks!
>>5571843
To put it simply, it's a substance included in some rubbers and plastics that can gradually leak out, causing some figures to get a bit sticky to the touch. I've never had the issue with a figma but I've heard it plagues some earlier revoltechs and I've had it happen with one of my DC figures and a couple small figurines.
>>5572073
Yep, I did. It was my first time using plastic cement and it's definitely some sort of wizard magic.
>>5571933
Technically by its original definition everything IS a meme.
>>5572161
Can a figure be washed to get the leaked material off? Figmas specifically can be easily fully disassembled due to the lack of rivets/pins/screws, right?
>>5572477
I remember getting a Nendoroid in that was leaking plasticizer in a major way and had to wash it down with water and soap then I had to leave them out of the box for a bit. Now she's fine but with figmas I can imagine you have to be more careful depending on the sculpt of the character.
Anime girls and guns are the dream.
>>5572657
>boxart
>>5572477
>Can a figure be washed to get the leaked material off?
Yes, but it will still get sticky again after a while. There's no permanent fix, the plastic is already fucked up.
do you save those cards that amiami puts in the boxes?
>>5572708
I do when they change.
>>5572708
Yeah, 1 from each seasonal change+a big card from one of my larger packages.
>>5572719
I think they just straight-up changed to the bigger cards now.
>>5572694
>the plastic is permanently fucked
Ah shit. That makes me really wary on buying the old Lucky Star figmas then.
>>5570948
Did you see one in the OP?
Then fuck off, you blind shit.
just bought this fucker as my first figma, what am I in for?
>>5572750
A broken sword handle most likely.
>>5571422
>not technically figma
not figma
ftfy
Now fuck off. This is the Figma General.
>>5572750
>what am I in for
these posts are my favorite
>>5572750
An okay-ish figma. Heard his leg articulation is pretty lacking
>>5572750
A meh figure from a shit game.
>>5572750
A shit figure from a meh game.
>>5572750
Best figma to be released. So good it just keeps getting reissued.
>>5572750
A figure of shit from a game, meh.
>>5572750
He was my 5th, I enjoy the figure although slightly lacking in articulation compared to many other figma.
Great character value though. I find him posing him to be fun with other sword welding types or fighting the evil in your collection.
Took some pics at Sakura-Con today.
>>5572810
This one is illegal
>>5572812
And a brand-new crazy figma never seen before
>>5572812
Who is the guy in the right?
>>5572812
Did you get a frontal of painted Izaya?
first figma, the joint in her legs that I need to take off so I can put on the roller skates is REALLY in there. How can I remove it without damaging anything? I'm not quite sure how strong figmas are
>>5572812
what's that feathery shit on izaya's legs?
>>5572840
run it under hot water
>>5572828
Lelouche.
>>5572854
Looks like the bottom lining of his coat came off and got stuck halfway down his legs.
>>5572868
ah yeah, you're right
When's the next time they'll be showing off new figures?
Hoping to see a prototype of him
>>5572828
Izaya from DRRR!!

Does it say I need glue

Some guy from last threads want it, so.
>>5573211
Yes or for something less permanent you can use scotch tape or loop it through the holster.
Are there any in-hand pics of Motoko yet?
I'm on the fence about ordering her.
Hlj is sure taking the time on my motoko

?
With the announcement that FLCL is getting more seasons, anyone else think we might finally see some Figma/Figuarts options for Canti?
I have the Sentinel version from 2012 and it's probably the most beautiful figure I own (even if it's stranded in my parents' attic two states away), but it feels like it's not meant to be played with.
>>5573653
thanks anon, she looks great! Goodsmile won't be shipping out until next Tuesday. Bummer.
>>5573658
>With the announcement that FLCL is getting more seasons
What?
Source?
>>5573661
No problema, anon
Who else is getting her? I got my payment request from amico and I'm hyped as fuck
>>5573664
Toonami announced it last weekend I believe.
>>5573664
It's a remake, not more seasons and it's probably gonna be either crap or completely different.
>>5573658
God I wish I had been collecting back then, the markup on those is crazy.
>>5573667
>>5573668
>It's a remake, not more seasons and it's probably gonna be either crap or completely different.
I see, I guess it will end up being a 'Rebuild' version of FLCL, something similar as the Eva movies
>>5573669
do you really need an anatomy lesson?
What are some good starter figmas?
>>5573724
Whatever figma you like the most, Anon. As long as it came out after 2009 it should be a good figure.
>>5572812
>Dark Magician Girl's as tall as Samus
>>5573733
What's wrong with ones before that? More limited articulation?
>>5573745
their wrist joints have balls on the end and often break since the plastic ages. they can also get sticky from plasticizer and other problems. they're not bad, just not up to current standards.
DO THE MOTOKO HEADSWAP
>>5573762
How can I minimize risk of breakage? I wanna buy the Lucky Star figmas but I don't want all their hands to break off.
Do I just do the blowdryer trick?
>>5571491
This is too beatiful....
>>5573780
This.
I have a feeling the S.A.C head will be too big for the movie version body.
>>5573787
Just don't be a so-called hamhands. Half of my figmas have the non-balled-wrist joint and they're all fine because I don't force them nor anything.
>>5573787
There is a few specific older figures that suffer from fragility issues, if you avoid those you should be ok. Drossel shipped with a lot of defective shoulders (halfway torn/stressed from factory) and the old shitty Saber had a hand that liked to cause the wrist to break. You shouldn't be getting anything but 2.0 Saber anyway, it's so superior it's not even funny.
The Lucky Star should be ok, just exercise caution and don't force anything.
>Try to swap my Pyramid Head's neck ports to test out the spear function
>the ball peg breaks and gets stuck in the neck hole
FUCK YOU, PYRAMID HEAD. The other neck works fine you fuck. Why the default head have to suck so much?
>>5573897
>mfw I got Yuki (001) for 1500 shipped EMS
>>5573905
Miyuki's the one I'm least interested in to be honest. I'm mainly after the twins.
>>5573215
Nice to know her ass doesn't disappoint.
>>5573665
Mine shipped this morning from amico. I should be getting her by early next week.
>>5573998
I think he's talking about Nagato Yuki, the first character to get a mass-produced figma.
I wish she got some sort of 2.0 figma to go along with her spin-off anime
Rice ball is a GSC web exclusive.
>>5574183
and she's 5800, fucking shit. no date, either.
>>5574189
Well, I've committed myself to getting all nine LL so there. I'm telling you now, I'm am not doing this all over again for Love Live Sunshine. Probably just whoever is my absolute favorites in that.
>>5574076
you knoe?
>>5573744
Friendly reminder that most Japanese lines like Figma and Revoltech are technically scaleless!
>>5574226
Yes, and?
>>5573658
I'm just hoping there might possibly be a relelease of the Rio:bones but I very highly doubt it'll happen
>>5574246
*rerelease
>>5573668
But FLCL is already crap.
>>5574236
It's the most rage inducing thing ever. Why can't Japs into scale?
>>5572855
This. I had to do the same for mine when swapping her leg joints.
Even then, super stiff still. I was worried I might hamhand it and went really slowly.
Is the guy from the last thread with the Ryuko for $80 shipped here? I'd like to get it from you.
>>5574363
Sold it for $100
>>5573630
This is awesome. I need to get a New Movie Motoko to go with my SAC version too.
>>5574183
That's just the one from Kenshin
>>5574073
I knew she had that ass tech
>>5574521
No, that one looks better.
>>5574521
They're different, Hanyao's is more rounded and has a smoother wrapping
>>5574662
Damn, she looks great.
>>5574662
What's the body of the blue haired girl on the right from?
>>5574662
What on earth is that figure between her and the Stormtrooper?
Also, she does look good...shit. But I was being stubborn and only wanted her with the stealth legs...and was also unwilling to pay the $20 GSC shipping. I just feel regret now. Fuck me.
>>5574707
It's pretty heavily modified and there are parts from multiple Figmas in there (like Black Gold Saw's arms) but the majority of the torso and legs is from Figma Mitsurugi Meiya.
>>5574707
>>5574716
I guess that you could do the same using the body of Cryska or Yui as Meiya is harder to get for a good price nowadays
>>5574711
I dunno man, looks like a custom figure
Which Batfleck figure is that in the back? Mafex?
>>5574711
Speaking of this...is it way too late to get this Motoko with the clear legs? I found out about it way late.
Found a used Solid Snake going for pretty cheap but I'm really put off by the bad face plates. Does every one of them have this issue?
>>5574935
>Did you multiple for tactical moe squad action
Yeah, I PO'ed 5 Motokos for a tacticool sexy tight suit squad
>>5574956
She is just released, so the only pics we have are from the jap guys that have just got her, but she seems to have a good range of motion
I want to buy a asuka figure but which is the best figure i can get (qualitywise)?
>>5574941
Damn I'm jelly. I've barely been able to pay for my PO and barely got enough for the next 2-3 months. Really need a part-time job again lol.
>>5574981
Left is figma, right is revo. Go for nendoroid.
>>5574994
It's like night and day.
>>5574981
One of the Real Action Heroes ones.
>>5575000
I don't know if they fixed this with a revision or something, but last I heard the RAH plugsuits were rotting/tearing.

where his release date! im sick of waiting, I want him now guys NOOOW! and i really do too, just think of how many cool accesories they could give him and why stop there!! pretty much the coolest troop ever is that ocelot unit from mgs3 now that is something I would ...really get on my knees for!

GSC Release update:

Good Smile Company - figma Leonidas
>>5576630
Can't wait to see its actual fucked up face.
>>5576706
>facial hair sculpted in, instead of shart spray effects as seen with other figures
>profile image shows that his finely detailed face is sculpted well, with a more than passing resemblance of Butler
Figmas so far haven't really deviated much from their prototypes.
They'd really have to fuck up the paint for it to not look bad.
Figures like Snake, plainly sculpted, really needed the paint job for him to stand out. Not so with this figure: there's a lot of give for the paint to not be perfect, because dat sculpt is good.
It's basically why plainly painted figures like this still look so good.
>>5576718
That's not really a fair comparison, since practically the entire budget of that particular GI Joe line went into that one head sculpt.
Take a look at the Duke figure from the same wave. He looks nothing like The guy, unless his head is secretly made of silly-putty.
>>5576486
Goddamnit, I got sick of mine a while ago and pretty much gave her away. Wish I still had her to sell.
>>5576724
I'm pretty sure they did a 3d scan of his face, just like the other actors in the movie, so the budget really isn't any better for Roadblock than anyone else.
Or maybe Hasbro just reused an old mold for Duke. Still, they had a good likeness of him before and there's no reason he shouldn't have turned out well. Fuck up in China?
Anyway, it really doesn't discount my point. If the sculpted face is fine, you can get away with a lot. Black dots for eyes? Flesh colored plastic instead of paint? The plastic head is still going to look like the actor. Anything after that is embellishments for your finely carved Venus de Millo (which was originally painted).
It's not like any of these figures are going to lose any sculpted detailed. They're not stamped like coins are, where more detail is given by stamping them multiple times. So Duke and Roadblock are similarly molded as Butler, except for that whole 3d facial scanning thing.

PO for Hanayo tomorrow.
>>5576738
>so the budget really isn't any better for Roadblock than anyone else.
Budget goes to more than just the flat-out sculpt.
The Rock was pretty much the face of GI Joe: Retaliation. Other than Channing 'Tater, I can't even remember the names of any other actors in that movie.
I can guarantee you they took measures to make sure that Roadblock head looked as absolutely detailed and crisp as possible. And it actually turned out that way.
Then again, it is really hard to fuck up a head that is of a bald guy when all you have to paint on is a goatee. The Retaliation line was marred by all sorts of removals (cut accessories, cut file cards, no figure stands, cut articulation, don't forget the Funko ReAction-esque vehicle drivers).
I mean sure, obviously those corner cuts weren't because of the headsculpt, but I can guarantee they they went out of their way to be certain that that head looked pretty much flawless. Any amount of paint has a chance to look really fucked up, and I never saw a single one of these guys with ugly, or mispainted faces.
I'm saying they probably spent some extra to be sure that would happen.

Have you ever ordered from Mandarake before? They really over exaggerate how bad the damage is.
If an item is 'not opened' there's a chance it's actually brand spanking new, they just like to cover their asses in case the box has a tiny crease on it or something.
I recently bought a figure which was 1500yen off the usual price because the condition was something like 'not opened, BOX COMPLETELY DESTROYED' and when I got it there was literally one corner of the box slightly indented, who cares about the packaging anyways?

Do you know if Motoko's extra faces and hair pieces fit onto other figmas? I know not all the pieces fit together but I'm wondering if the extra faces and hair fit onto sinon's regular or sniping head piece.
>>5577362
they rarely do. I don't have Sinon, either. Motoko's head is also rather small compared to other figma since her proportions are more realistic.
>>5576524

>I can guarantee you they took measures to make sure that Roadblock head looked as absolutely detailed and crisp as possible. And it actually turned out that way.
They take measurements for all their face scans, hence the entire point of doing a face scan.
The ONLY thing that could make a toy better is who they have adjusting the 3d scan and fixing the sculpt up. This is usually handled internally, so it's up to employees who are already being paid their salary (ie, cost doesn't go up). However, the skill of the artist does help in making the figure look better and not everyone is going to be a top notch sculptor.
>Then again, it is really hard to fuck up a head that is of a bald guy when all you have to paint on is a goatee.
PROBABLY, but then, i look at other dark skin figures and they look as good as the Rock does. It could just be the lighting making light skin figures look blurry, and i really can't say, since i avoided Duke figures because I'm not a fan. So the darker skin figures absorb the light, allowing the details to shine through better.
ANYWAY, there really is no cutting corners when it comes to molding a figure... if you're not a bootlegger. Or reusing an older mold. Anything new is going to have the same quality molding and plastic as all the others.
As i mentioned earlier, it's up to the talent of the sculptor to make the figure look good. So if those details are all there on Spartan Man, it's going to be 99% likely it's all going to be there in production. Paint only allows those details to shine through and it requires a REALLY big fuck up for the figure to look bad.
Here's one of the 1 percents where a big fuck up happens. The prototype was perfect likeness of Bruce. This? Ignoring the derpy eyes, the head was squished inward, making him look slightly cone headed. It's like someone stepped on the wax head before sticking it in that machine that makes a 2up smaller... wtf is the name of that machine thats rarely used now!?
>>5578323
those knees look disgusting

YES
I'm so glad I didn't buy a plaster version.
>>5578786
I meant within the same line, but if you're going to bring that up, i might as well say that Hasbro's mold quality is second to none. Basically all the major toy companies can and do produce high quality figures with pristine molding.
As mentioned before, it's up to the sculptor's abilities to produce a great likeness and the paint isn't actually that important, hence the Rock and that white guy's figures having great likeness inspite of being only 4" tall and lacking in paint.
Whereas that Luke doesn't, or how Figma Robocop or Figuarts Cap have such soft sculpts, even though they have the ability produce sharp molds. It's up to the sculptor's abilities.

Fuck fujoshits and their shit taste.
>>5580502
The neck is molded tilting forward so you can tilt the upper torso back, and the head forward; the figure will puff out their chest and keep a straight back. Not the best design choice since not all characters need a heroic pose but you can work around that problem by fiddling with the other joints. Try it out for yourself and you might see a big difference.
