So, are all 1:12 furniture pieces super expensive or am I just looking in the wrong places?

Also, what are some good starter tips to putting together a decent diorama?

The good quality stuff does seem pretty expensive.

Pic related is £60, jesus christ.
>>
>>5556929

senpai you can get doll house rooms for like £30 on Amazon. probably cheaper from china
>>
It's a very niche market generally aimed at people with money, of course it's expensive. If you go to a hobby shop to find accessories this scale it's all made with big detailed dollhouses in mind, not weebs making shoebox rooms for their figmas.
>>
>>5556917
What do you mean by expensive? miniatures.com has some good shit for good (comparatively I guess) prices.

Alternatively, if you have a table saw, you can at least make the house yourself. I just slapped together a detolf sized shoji board room that looks pretty good.
>>
>>5557020
The high price is probably more because most of it is hand made, carved, painted, sewn, etc.
>>
I just had 3 miniatures come in the mail from China. Ill post photos and stuff when I get home.

I personally love dioramas and doll house stuff. I'm working on making various rooms for my nendos

Kinda related to the thread but would anyone from a site like this buy things from a person and not a site?
I've been making miniatures/dioramas for at least 11 years, and been toying with making actual furniture props for 6. It's only been a hobby thing, but I've made specific props or pieces for my own figures before. I thought I'd try and see if I could do small commission work for specific pieces that aren't really made, but I have no idea where to advertise (facebook is an option but i don't know of any groups) and not even sure if people would trust that. Any advice or just general interest?
(pic not mine just pulled it from google)((also didn't wanna start my own thread sorry for hijacking)

Etsy is probably your best bet.
>>
>>5557199
Seconding miniatures.com. It takes a bit of looking, but they have a few nice sets for about $20-30 for a room's worth. If you have a few very basic crafting skills (like paint, glue, and ability to cut and wrap fabric around foam) you can get the even cheaper sets and make them look great with minimal cost and effort.

>>5565420
Are you familiar with Etsy? There's a decent amount of miniature artisans selling on there that seem to do well, so it may be your best bet.

Also you may want to look into miniature/dollhouse shows or expos in your area. They're usually fairly small affairs that would be relatively inexpensive to get a table at once you have a nice little stock built up. There's some much larger ones (personally have been to the Philadelphia Miniaturia which is MASSIVE considering what a niche hobby it is) but judging from the vendors usually there, its more for high end well known artisans and established retailers. The smaller shows are usually held in community halls or hotel conference rooms and are actually pretty fun and informal little events where you can build out a network and get yourself known. If you're in the US, there's also an organization called National Association of Miniature Enthusiasts that has 'State Day' events that are small scale conventions with vendors and classes and often a dinner.

...sorry that went off in a ramble. I used to be in a miniatures club about 12 years ago, it eventually became a NAME club and it was actually very fun. Still have some of the little pieces we made for my Figmas and Piccos to play with.

Adding onto this, instagram, facebook and tumblr are good places to advertise your stuff especially if you can cross over with dolls.

Excuse my shit lighting, manga, and primitive bookcase setup. I'm planning a shelf diorama on my desk for this for my tiny robot waifus.

I've gotten some decent dollhouse furniture from Hobby Lobby in burgerland. Remember the 40% off coupon, because these are almost never on sale. The china cabinet has functional drawers and doors. The cushions/upholstery on the love seat and chair are shit tier, but they are easy to replace.

Hey Baby, where'd you get those JoJo volumes?
Is the translation any good or is it Duwang tier?
>>
>>5570578
Amazon, and they changed some of the names probably because of copyright, i.e., Santana is Santviento, but it isn't horribly off from the scans. Looking forward to seeing a nicely translated P4+5, but that'll be a few years down the road.

Goddamnit

>>5570865
Uh, There's a MSG, FA:G, and then the Shinki on the far right.

>>5570915
Yeah, she's a Shinki you have to buy two to complete (slippery slope). She's on Zyrdarya's body, but Schmetterling head, skirt, bows, etc. She can't sit because of that skirt, so she's gonna serenade the other two.

>>5570920
Oh damn, I'll have to look into that.
>>
>>5572783
Ah, I think I've seen her before (or rather her composite parts) I like her but not enough to spend shinki prices, I'll stick to magical girls.

Do people sell partial rooms? Thinking about it, all I'd really need is two walls and a floor.
>>
>>5578090
Closest I can think of are room boxes.

Haven't the name changes been standard for a while now? No localizer is willing to use blatantly trademarked names.

I've just recently gotten into the idea of dioramas & stuff, but I'm not in too great a spot financially. I am craft-minded to an extent though, so I've started making my own sets. Pic related.

Literally just pieces of cardbord cut to shape, wrapped in model magic, & painted.
>>
>>5577131
What do I look up to find those mini drawer sets sitting on the shelf on the left? The clear plastic ones?
>>
>>5578090
Room box, maybe called vignette? Doll house kit sellers will often have them. Use scrap book paper and acrylic paint to decorate to your tastes.
>>
>>5578255
Looks decent but needs more little debris bits. Get some gravel and sand, put some glue down, and throw them on. Then paint and drybrush them.
>>
>>5578326
What kind of glue would you suggest? I've been using Krazy Glue but it dries glossy & is very difficult to paint over, so that wouldn't be ideal.
