Geez I feel like I have to explain this every time. That shoulder connection isn't heresy because it doesn't hurt any pieces ffs. There is a little gap between the two ball socket parts which is obviously possible with the 2M axle. There is enough space for the ball joint to muve around without stretching any parts

Something I never noticed while handling the original part: on the back of the 'spines' there's a low-poly texture. Pretty cool.

The cast is slightly assymetrical though, the right side is a bit thicker than the left, but the resin I was using (what's little left from the first batch I bought) started solidifying REALLY quickly. I've realized that it was probably that particular resin which gave me the most trouble, it seems to be the most toxic out of any of the kinds I've used so far.

Nah, kopaka is pretty fun out of the box. the color scheme is all over the place but the figure in itself is probably the most playable of all six toa, and that comes from someone who didn't like the set in pictures.

Melum is shit though, and yeah, it should have been a four-legged creature, or just not a visual copy of any other creature.

Pohatu was always my favorite, he was the second Toa I bought during the first run, and whenever my brother and I were deciding which three colors of the various characters we'd each get I always went for his line.
I dropped bionicle during my "too cool for toys" phase from 7th or 8th grade until basically now, and that Pohatu looks dope as fuck.

So, if there was a Takanuva in Gen 2 (Yeah, I get it, Toa Ekimu and all that) obviously he'd have white armor and gold addons, but what about the base color for the bones? Blue like Ekimu? Maybe black to reference his shadow powers?

It blew my mind later when I figured out that Takanuva didn't actually have Nuva powers and only looked like a Toa Nuva because when Matoran become Toa their form changes to match their perception of what a Toa looks like, like how all the Toa Metru looked like Toa Lhikan because he was the only Toa left in Metru Nui.

I think the 2016 sets are good so far, but the one thing I dont like is the box art for the Toa and Umarak. The sets that appear to be in motion, Tahu,Lewa and Gali all seem to be taking a jump with their weapons out front and not doing much else. Pohatu,Kopaka,Onua and Umarak just seem to be standing up straight showing their weapons and not much else; their poses look somewhat awkward in the background of their creature box art. Most of the creatures have action poses, Ikir is attacking the shadow trap with his claws, Akida is shooting at hers, Terak is digging, Ketar is fighting his shadow trap; Melum and Uxar look like they're just chilling.

I have a half-heresey'd movie Makuta project lying around that I need to finish scratchbuilding. You can make the legs work if you bulk up the ball joints with glue or paint.

Before I get burnt at the stake for my art project, you cannot build MoL Makooti with even moderate accuracy without several cheats, even with scratchbuilt add-ons. I spent hours studying the model to figure out what the torso was made up of, and I eventually realized that the technic parts were bridged together by blank filler objects.

Don't give me that look. The parts were cheap and plentiful.
