I did design a little shield for fun, don't know how great it is. It's a 4x6 plate with one of those 4x3 plates on the front, that trans-orange windshield piece connecting them, 1x2 bricks to seal up the other end and push up one of the blue 4x4 triangular pieces, and 2 1x4 spring shooters on the side. i never had that crocodile as a kid because he was from pirates and my poorfag life allowed to have only 1 theme and it was Castle...+ space sometimes.

Hey guys, just getting out of my dark ages. Over the last few years I've casually bought Lego, a set here-or-there for something cool to put on my desk (Mystery Machine comes to mind), but I want to get back into it big time.

I have no collection of bricks whatsoever, but I want to change that. What's the best way of amassing a good variety of pieces off of Bricklink? What should I pick up, how much, what color, etc.

The theme I prefer most is City/Creator Expert.

The stage was SO FUCKING WORTH IT!

Couple mods here and there, and boom.

Dancing girl stickers will go to my future strip club project, and the "banners" they would have gone on will have double sided custom band prints added to them, right now they are just solid black. Plan on Motorhead/NIN on one set of banners, then Type O Negative and someone else for the second set.

Fuck yeah.

I actually JUST figured out I have enough of the black....like wedge 1x4x2 pieces.....the ones that make up the arch on top of the stage, to replace the pinkish ones.

And a brighter color for the actual performer platforms makes sense from a drama/stage/live music perspective.....

Ever tried to do blocking for a performance on a solid black stage? I have seen fractured limbs and punctured lungs from that. Not fun, also why UV lights and UV tape are used in live performance. Edge of the stage is a bitch.

>>
>>5548743

if you're into collecting the modulars, it's definitely a modular to add for completionist's sake, and since it's retiring soon, should pick it up

on it's own though, it's pretty average. like the other anons said, average interior, exterior, and the addition of a car unnecessarily inflates the piece count.

I'm honestly not that experienced. I could probably figure out maybe 70% of it, but the roof and some of the finer points have me flummoxed.

I'm guessing it wouldn't be that expensive, maybe around £60 to £80 since I'm not seeing any especially expensive parts but that may just be experience talking.

>>
>>5548911

>>
>>5548765
oh fuck, stickers, yuck
whats the best modular in your opinion when it comes to interiors?
>>
>>5548942

To be fair, the only stickers the Cinema has are the movie posters themselves.

As far as best interior, they seem to be getting better year over year.

The last three, by far, have been the best interior-wise.

For me personally, the Parisian Restaurant is just overall the best Modular they've done so far. Every element of that set is just beautiful. I think it might be my favorite LEGO set to date.

The interiors of the Detective's Office and the new Brick Bank are also very nice. I just don't find the exteriors to be quite as nice as the Parisian.
>>
>>5548975
>I just don't find the exteriors to be quite as nice as the Parisian.

I agree here. It kinda peaked with the Parisian and then so far with the Brick Bank and Detective's Office, they've started incorporating details that introduce potential play value, but making the sets slightly smaller and more expensive than before as a result

lel i wasn't complaining, i was just saying that making a lego diorama of a recent mass murder sounds pretty "edgy".
then again, i think that making nazi armies and concentration camps is kinda weird too, so make what you will of my opinion.

I'm trying to come up with a good idea for a kingdom and some shield designs for some knights/royals and then I want to do up some MOCs and stories for them.

As part of this, I want to pick up 10193 Medieval Market Village and do a little bit of modification to some LotR Laketown buildings I have to create a proper medieval village, too...

I'd like to go through my old Lego and rebuild the castles there. I already rebuild King's Mountain Fortress.

Next to mocing up things and characters I don't really play stories by moving them around and pretend talk that much. As a kid i could do this with just about any rubble i had in close proximity and i could think and play out stories with rocks for days. Now it's not really the same, but i sure as hell imagine my minis doing stuff in a backstory/toystory kinda way. I get much joy out of making my lego creations feel alive by setting them up and posing them doing stuff and taking fun pictures of it.

For example i couldn't help myself but put my minis street performing some music while taking this pic for the other anon.

I build MOCs because there's more of challenge to them than sets.

As for playing, I guess my form of that mainly comes out as scenes that I build and take photos of, like pic related. Occasionally I'll add bits of dialogue if I'm going for a continuous storyline.

They have too much of an ego and only do it for the money. They have their own freaking shop and advertise for it on their channel. On top of that they have screw up the facts about sets (especially Star Wars sets, my goodness do your freaking research or show some passion). They used to be alright, but that was a long time ago.

Minotaur
The Thespian
Forest Maiden
Cyclops
Medusa
Scarecrow
Barbarian
Jester
Fairytale Princess
Lady Cyclops
Goblin
Evil Wizard
Specter

Is it considered heresy to print your own stickers for Lego?

Like say I had a dozen or so Lego cars, some of which are MOCs or doubled up sets and I wanted all of them to have different/unique number plates. If I made a bunch that looked like official Lego sticker/number plates and used them, would that be a sin?

I went from shitty bionicle toa-mods to smooth SNOT in roughly 12-13 years, and I don't know if I could have done it faster.

LDD is actually fucking awesome for this because when you feel like a design isn't working out you can save the file and come back to it whenever you have an idea, without it taking up a bunch of your physical parts to keep around.

Went to a flea market yesterday and found a 6099 Traitor Transport box for $20 (yes, the one with the bonus cave).
The box itself was battered and with no instructions, and the cave has a small bent but the bags were sealed and complete, which is what matters.

I don't remember older sets having that much clutch between the pieces, I had to apply more force when building this.

Overall it was such a nice find, I never had a Basil the Batlord minifig and having a pristine chromed sword on top of that is a nice bonus. Shit took me back to my early days with lego.

I was wondering, are any of the properties that are featured in Lego Dimensions that weren't already owned by warner brothers? Not too familiar with which studios own movies like jurassic park or ghostbusters. I know simpsons is owned by fox, and not warner brothers. What are the other properties they had to get permission to use.

Make me wonder what other movies would be cool to include in dimensions. I would kill for some power ranger sets now that megabloks doesn't own them anymore. And I hope that with the ready player one movie coming out in 2017, we can eventually get some sets or characters for that movie as well.

LEGO used noticibly higher quality plastic back then. The cost of the higher quality, along with the poor selling of generic themes, almost lead to LEGO going under in the late 90's. It's the reason my childhood collection has yet to have a cracked piece just from connections, unlike todays stuff which seems to split almost right out of the box.

Why are you trying to make this sound like rocket science? Like, it ain't hard man. It's much easier than needlessly subjecting yourself to endless color repeats and only being able to use 2/3rds of the parts available in extended.
>>
>>5551616
if you are interested in making MOCs but dont want to buy new pieces, start mixing sets.
3 mixels make a maxel. use those three to build something not that maxel
you have the emerald express, power digger, and that desert jeep? make a tank
you have i dunno.... wu's dragon and... the ultra agents fist-tank? combine the two into a mech

it helps in resorting out, and (i at least believe) confined creativity FORCES you to think more outside the box
you make that mech with wu's dragon and the tank, and dont use any joints, the treads, or the wings, you're missing out. incorporate that shit.

you've probably already got alot of interesting parts, and its fucking lego, so no one can say "no you fucking bitchtits, a croissant CANNOT be eyebrows"
just take what you have, and FORCE it to work together

even failing that, just take a set, and rebuild it something else. thats still pretty much an moc, but slightly less impressive
though take the power digger for example, theres like fucking 30 builds for the damn thing

>I'd rather find 3 parts in my MOC that don't exist in a certain color than 100

That's a stretch and a half. That situation would never come to pass unless you had a dumbfuck obscure primary color for your moc, like darkish transparent yellowy bloange. Honestly it takes less than 30 seconds to import an ldd to brickficiency and ID the parts you need to replace. I'd much rather do that instead of needlessly restricting my part availability because all of the pieces that are only available in extended.

Not that this discussion even fucking matters at all anyway seeing as how you can just go to the view menu and switch between extended/non-extended on the fly.

Mixel joints are for lazy unimaginative people.

There I said it.

Nearly as lazy as uploading a picture upside down.
>>

You really have no right complaining about others laziness when you couldn't even be bothered to upright your image. Fuckwit.

He obviously has no idea how to cross-link seeing as how he didn't link this thread in the new one either.

Consider reading up on this.
http://www.4chan.org/faq

Specifically...

How do I quote somebody?
To quote a portion of text, simply place a pointer (">") in front of the text you wish to highlight (ex. ">This is a quote"). To link to and highlight an entire post, place two pointers in front of its unique post number (ex. ">>210981"). Cross-linking to another 4chan board is also possible, by placing three pointers before a board letter, followed by a post number (ex. ">>>/x/1208196").

If you're using our inline extension, simply click the post number you'd like to reference and it will bring up a Quick Reply window for you to write your response in. Highlighting text and then clicking the post number will quote the selected text.

I was just at the lego store Saturday and got a good look at the airport fight set from civil war and I'm just not sure it's worth the $80, any anon that has it is it worth it? Also what's this AFOL day, did I really go the day before it?

>hey guys look at my awesome digital MOC using pieces in colors LEGO will never release and I can never build in real life

>gold ingot
>still not in gold color

>pieces in colors LEGO will never release

>gold ingot
>not in gold color

Yeah, better to limit yourself to only a handfull of colours and pieces that Lego currently make and choose to put in LDD

I did this with a set of mixels. It made me feel anxiety and claustrophobia. Not a fan.
>>
>>5552049
Using cameras is for lazy unimaginative people. Etchings on wax boards is the best way to show off your lego moc.
