Looks like Hulkie is finally upon us, only about six months behind schedule.
Old thread >>5510063
Meanwhile, Fanstoys is finally clearing out some of their backlog. Supposedly Kickback is April and Hound (with the improved head sculpt here) is June/July.
>>5544233
I imagine the next time we see new Iron Factory stuff will be during the next TFcon.
>>5545086
that kickback would be perfection with a glossy black finish and a better headsculpt. Oh well.
Even Function-X Highbrow is back from the dead.
Meanwhile, this classy gentleman finally showed up to the party like 4 years late.
Now that War in Pocket isn't bottlenecked by Hulkie anymore, I'm hoping DX9 gets back to releasing these more regularly.
>>5545103
I'd be ok with this never seeing the light of day.
Good thing we're getting this too then, I like both (but I do prefer IF if I have to choose)
>>5545151
they're making a Psychotic transexual robatman version of Arcee?
bad ass. wish someone would make her in MP form.
>>5545297
Mastermind Creations basically already did.
>>5545377
those re pretty cool, but i thought they were deluxe-sized, not MP scale?
How fragile is KFC TEMPEST? Are there any delicate bits like the balljoint on the shoulder guns for Mugan molds?
>>5545080
>>5545103
They're also rereleasing these 3 as a 3-pack.
Plague has different colors and his rifle
Tyrant has a new head
Hurricane has new thighs, now with rotation.
>>5545086
Hound looks good. But the green could be a tad darker. And... is he squinting? Why is he squinting?
I've been pretty stoked for MMC's Beast Machines vehicon generals. They've been spot on with what I feel is a third party's best thought process: making figures for characters or versions thereof that are basically never getting official toys.
I can't believe I forgot about this guy. He looks Brave as fuck.
>>5546257
>making figures for characters or versions thereof that are basically never getting official toys.
too bad they're new designs. rather than, you know, basing they're look on the original designs, which would make more sense for characters who dont have good toys.
>>5545093
Getting ready to ride the Titan Wars nostalgiawave, probably.
>>5546624
That sounds super boring. Glad MMC isn't doing that.
>>5546329
i'm really liking Maketoys' MP aesthetic. It's basically like Takara MPs but beefed up and stronger looking, because of that i think your brave comparison is pretty apt.
Im excited for their Dreadwind and Darkwing. and I really think they should tackle Punch Counterpunch
>>5545080
I'd be down for this thing if they made them deluxe sized.
Fucking assholes at Hasbro had to make BIG MCLARGEHUGE Devy so he didn't fit in with the rest of the CW line, and any other close-to-the-other-CW-gestalts-size Devy is expensive as fuck.
>>5546635
Hexatron isnt based directly on G1 Sixshot, and MMC Obsidian and Strika arent based on their BM designs. compare the two designs, you'll see it
Fuck, MMC Obsidian is even made to look more like IDW Whirl than BM Obsidian, because thats what they're repainting him into
>>5545080
>>5546467
>UGH. I got the KFC replacement hands for MP Soundwave but I think the screw on one of the standard hands is stripped so I can't get it off to replace it.
sasuga KFC...
>>5546241
he includes another headsculpt thats more like the cartoon, dont worry
>>5546640
If it means a break from all the goddamn Azaleas I don't care what they have to do to justify a new mold.
>>5545080
Any other pics of this?
>>5546655
>3P Hound is named "Willis"
oh I just know Walky is crying bitch tears over that.
>>5546700
The most impressive thing is that he doesn't parts form. They used Hook's crane to split and make into a chest shield while the arm bots have the hands curl up on the back of the robot and vehicle modes. Suffers from being a legends scale and not as good of range on the articulation, but it's impressive for the size class.
>>5545086
I hope they go through with their Hot Rod. MP-28 is not better in hand no matter how much people try to delude themselves.
>>5547595
So long as they get the face right its a slam dunk. It may not be nearly as articulated though.
>>5547517
How's he compare size-wise to the CW combiners?
>>5545725
They're not MP aesthetics but they're about as tall as the MP cars.
>>5546624
They're based on Stormbringer era Wreckers
>>5547610
They aren't that big. They're about the size of a big deluxe.
>>5547619
Huh, I thought they were tall as the Datsuns. I'll have to check again.
>>5547517
how is the long haul in bot mode? I think the UW/CW version of Devastator is pretty much perfect for MP scale and stuff for my collection, but Long Haul looks like a short fat man in robot mode.
>>5547663
4 inches shorter than Combiner Wars/Unite Warriors... for $160. I think it'll be a solid pass for me.
>>5547670
4 inches shorter? Nigga it's only 8 inches tall.
I just picked up badcube sunsurge and was wondering, the alternate face is supposed to be a smirk, right? I ask because the one I got seems more like a smile than a smirk.
>>5547647
They're barely the size of the originals. But they did good with LH.
>>5547695
CW/UW Gestalts are roughly 12 inches tall combined. 8 inches is 4 inches shorter than 12 inches last I checked.
>>5547720
oh wow, that is a nice long haul. Too bad about the size though. I'd love a good looking MP scale Devvie that had a good Long Haul (and also didn't have monkey man syndrome like nearly all 3rd party devvies). Guess I'll stick with my CW one for now.
>>5547722
Devastator is much larger than the other CW gestalts though.
>>5547722
I apologize. I misread it as you specifying CW/UW Devastator, not the other combiners. Disregard.
>>5547663
Damn. I was hoping he'd end up an inch or two shorter. Thats way too short.
>>5545080
You say it's upon us, but I can't find it anywhere.
Someone have a link?
eyyy more dynobots
>>5547926
BEEF
>>5547926
God damnit, I just want all 3Ps to adopt fully-articulated hand designs already. I was digging this design until I saw those horrible thumbs.
>>5547953
Fuck that, when are we going to get SOC style swappable hands?
>>5547926
Great, another CHG model / proto.
That's their third one, how about actually releasing something already.
>>5547259
Thanks, I'll try it out.
Are there some good hands for CW megatron?
>>5547595
Uh, it is pretty great. I thought it was going to be weak, and ended up buying it because of tax return money, but it's pretty great and wonderfully poseable. However, I'm one of those guys that's really ruffled by fake parts, so the chest on Not Rod triggers me.
Unrelated, finally had the time to paint and assemble Warbotron Master this weekend. He's pretty damn great. Painting him makes him pop, although you have to be wary of how a coat of paint increases the stress on the joints. I accidentally broke an arm ball joint, but fixed it with gorilla glue.
>>5548485
He goes wonderfully with the recent Legends Prime. I need to find a solid blue decal to cut up to add the last bit of detail to his moon boots.
>>5547663
Christ those are some hideous proportions.
>>5547597
Meh. I'm not so hung up on cartoon accuracy that I can't forgive MP-28's shortcomings in light of how fun of a toy it is. The fake chest/hood on FansToys attempt is a real turn-off.
>tfw no Planet X Vulcun
Being Canadian is suffering. Where in earth can I get one that isn't BBTS?
>>5548509
What proof is there of the hood being faked?
>>5549073
>>5547999
This would work as well, it's odd that swappable hands aren't standardized yet.
>>5549102
It isn't standardized because most people that buy transformers would cry betrayal about MUH SPARE PARTS
>>5548509
The fake hood does result in better chest proportion though.
Shame that the mp-09 is the only one that did the hood chest kind of brilliantly with the compressing hood. Intelligent bit of engineering that hasn't been carried on further.
>>5548477
Anyone? Realy fed up with gesturing and having a blocky fist.
What is there for a GEEWUN skyfire (toon design, NOT macross-y.)? Or are the Wfc/Foc designs the best hope for a figure worth having?
>>5549160
There's Daca Toys Kronos, but it's shit
>>5549114
>The fake hood does result in better chest proportion though.
Yeah, but I'll take slightly wonky chest proportions if it means that his chest is actually the hood. I get off on that kinda stuff, it's one of the reasons I like Transformers, the integration of parts between modes.
>>5549160
There was that Mechaform Sky Guardian, but it's not great from what I hear- the hips are really weird and the face is Funpub/Impossible Toys levels of awful.
>>5549197
It's not shit. It's a decent figure that was produced at a shit factory.
>>5549421
The alt mode is absolute shit and everyone knows it.
>>5549421
The robot mode looks nice but the vehicle mode is fucking garbage and the transformation fucking sucks.
>>5549229
Are you me?
Anyone have Iron factory's Evil Lord?
Or shit, are there any good Overlord figures by anyone other than Evil Lord?
>>5549977
Hah, I was just thinking today about choosing between the Kabaya kit and Evil Lord. I love the little Godmaster engines that Kabaya has and was wondering if there's a unique feature that could compete with that on Evil Lord's part.
Though I'm still getting Carnifex when he's released so I can set up a proper torture scene with my DJD.
All I want from this thing are the minicon weapons but I doubt anyone would part from them. The figure itself just doesn't do it at all for me.
>>5549421
That fucking transformation though, even if all the Q/C was on point it shits up the figure.
>>5549160
Best wait it out until Fanstoys comes up with one. Mechaform's is laughably shit and so is Daca's.
>>5549155
Someone managed to mod one of the KFC hand sets on one but I don't know how much was involved with that.
>>5549229
Even the MP's do this shit and we've gone through two Prime's with a fake robot grill. Red Alert has fake wheel kibble as well. I can stand a Hot Rod fake chest if it means the back kibble is shrunk to nonexistance and the proportions are better than MP Primal's Gorilla mode.
>>5550136
How did they mod the kfc hands onto it? Which ones? I MUST KNOW
>>5550136
Fake grills and fake kibble are one thing. And entire fake chest, doesn't really sit well with me.
I'm keeping my eye on Not Rod, they need to nail the head sculpt, and most 3Ps can never seem to do that. The official MP was nice and much cheaper than I imagine any third party will be. Not Rod will have to be amazing to get me to consider it.
what's the review on this little guy?
>>5550145
3P and official MP have been in a comparable price range for a while now.
>>5550136
Oh shit is that the Fansproject Grimlock? How is he? Been looking at the FP Not-Dinobots to get my CHUG fix since fucking Hasbro won't make fucking G1 Dinobots and the last representation they got was that Bayformer trash that I wouldn't wipe my ass with if it was the last thing left on earth to wipe my ass with.
>>5550193
is the plastic durable? i think i can get this guy for 30 bucks, worth it or nah?
>>5550136
That hammer is fucking brutal, I love it.
>>5550197
Do you like the design as is? Or have supplies to make it a mini MP like the guy above did? Yes? Get it.
Much better.
Make way for the queen!
>>5551017
did you jizz in that cup ?
fuck it, i'm gonna buy the IF soundwave/perceptor 2 pack
they look so good
Kuma Shill has an advertisement up for fansproject Grimlock.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ugyG8yF-Jo
>>5552235
They are amazing, you won't regret it. Ravage, Laser Beak and Buzz Saw are awesome too.
>>5552334
what would be a good price for them though?
>>5552243
>the throne needs a hole for the dino kibble to stick out of.
>>5552243
The review wasn't even a review, but the figure looks pretty damn nice. And it's cheaper than MP Grimlock.
So anyone here own IF's Overlord? Someone asked about him earlier, just wondering on a non-reviewers opinion of him. He worth the $40 or so?
>>5552696
40 for overlord? seems much bro
>>5552696
No he's partsform fiddily, good figure nonetheless but 30 or below for a legends/delixe size 3rd party.
>>5550176
What? No.
>>5552359
I paid $70 + shipping
>>5552739
about the same for what i can get then
i'm considering the between the 2 pack or overlord
love those little legends
>>5552243
I keep ordering and then canceling this guy. He looks nice and the amount of extras he comes with are great but his hip and shoulder articulation seem so limited for no other reason than terrible design choices.
That and Fansprojects friction joints on their Dinobots seem subpar just in general, coming loose or becoming loose with little use. At this size, everything should be ratchets, especially for this price.
>>5551948
Nah. That was Malibu. Or Advocaat. One of the two. Though I must admit, the second after I uploaded that pic I did think "Fuck, that really looks like it came off the set of a gokkun video".
...Whoops...?
>>5545091
Thats just a face plate, and does hid in the helmet to reveal a g1 face. Agree on coloration though, even if it's some glossy black as contrast to the flat. It is g1 accurate BUT a bit plain. I wished how the wings were attached was different, it's a bit scary.
>>5552243
Isn't there a more Geewun 3P Grimlock in the works? Maketoys?
Got Commotus yesterday. Good god is he wonderful.
BUY ONE.
>>5552895
>supporting idwasteofpaper designs of transformers designs.
good god man, do you not even care about quality designs???
>>5552893
Sparktoys is making War WIthin Grimlock. Fanstoys and Gigapower are still doing MP Grimlocks too
>>5552746
Didn't he say most everything is soft ratchets though?
>>5553030
He mentioned 3 joints or so being soft ratchets and then said that he doesn't like ratchets so he likes this figure.
Maybe it's just my impression but that tells me that this guy is mostly friction joints.
>>5553093
Someone else made the same mistake on TFW and sent him into a hissy fit where he confirms it's waist, elbows, hips, thigh swivels, and knees all ratchet.
Any news on this figure? kind of waiting on it still, haven't heard ANYTHING since july last year and it never came around december like was expected
>>5553576
Took me a second to realize that I wasn't looking at Legends sized figures...
>>5552898
I know this is bait but
>The Metal Slug
>Not a quality design
>>5553556
That sounds pretty good to me. I really want to get the FP Dinobots, they've got a nice CHUG look and feel to them, and they're within a...Acceptable price range for me, for what they are.
>>5547595
Seriously, tfw is full of fucking shills and takara cucks.
I bought one and no matter how hard I try or get the transformation perfectly lined up, the dam thing still doesn't roll without scratching the bottom. Also the ankle tilts are wobbly as hell. What a qc riddled mess but "muh better than mp9" argument satifies these people
>>5553669
Then you got a dud man. I got an MP-28, nothing wrong with him at all other than that I fucking scratched his hood because I'm a dumbass.
>>5549084
>that bloated vehicle
Takara's sleek vehicle mode has them beat.
>>5547803
Chimungmung and Actionrobo (both are in HK) have it in stock, U.S. sites should get it in the next couple weeks
>>5545080
>that box art
They aren't even trying to be subtle these days, are they?
>>5553737
At the cost of the robot mode packpack and gorilla arms though. It's a tough call. If FT delivers we might have the first tossup that isn't Grimlock.
Fuck. Columpio is on sale and I'm out of "money for shit I don't need for survival" at the moment.
>>5553737
I like both, but yeah. The low, sleek vehicle mode is one thing I always remembered from the movie, and Takara did a great job capturing that.
>>5554038
FP Dinobots suck anyways.
>>5554086
Whats so bad about'em? Only issues I've seen mentioned in various reviews was Columpio's legs are on ball joints, and shit, if you don't own some futureshine what are you even doing with your life?
>>5553792
Sweet, thx.
>>5547595
I dunno, MP28 looks good to me. His arms aren't gorilla like in person as compared to the pics. And if his ankles are loose, just tighten that screw. The FT one might look good in bot mode but that car mod is atrocious. Plus the fake chest, bleh. I think Takara wants a perfect alt mode then works from there. But then they also want the "correct" way of transformation. They try to do everything accurate. You can't have a perfect bot mode. But then what is a perfect bot mode when it's not drawn anatomically in the first place and is just a cartoon? If you want a perfect bot mode then there's only two options. A statue or a action master. I mean you can do what FT did but it's transformation isn't "correct" and it's car mode is ugly.
People complain about MP28 not being able to roll. Then I tell them, well FTs car mode is ugly and they go, well it won't be in car mode on my shelf anyways. I'm like, the hell? Then why you complain about MP28 car mode not being able to roll then? LoL.
>>5553796
>I actually don't like him and think his paid endorsements are shit anyway.
Fixed that for you.
I hope Transformission doesn't fade away after they done with Menasor.
>>5554676
another one
>>5552895
He's on my list.
>>5554533
>People complain about MP28 not being able to roll.
People who don't know how to transform their Transformers anyway. Hamhanded fucks.
>>5548485
I gave my warbotron to my dad since he's a big grimlock fan. Even tho it wasn't painted I'm sure he liked it. [toyspoilers] I'm not going to paint something like that for my first painted figure. Maybe a cheap gunpla. Really wishing it had come earlier since it was supposed to be a Christmas present. [toyspoilers]
>>5555221
I painted it and it actually WAS my first painted figure. Came out pretty good, I think.I did a base coat of Tamiya black, then covered it with Tamiya metallic silver lacquer. The red and gold parts were some much cheaper paint that doesn't seem as durable. It really wasn't that hard, and I didn't even have an ideal set-up for painting. I basically just went out in my driveway and painted them on the sprues while dangling them from a bent coathanger. It was a fun project for a lonely Saturday night.
I certainly think the figure was very overpriced for something that was completely unassembled and unpainted, though.
>>5554678
I would actually buy Breakdown in these colors if there was some paint on there. These guys look good and the backpacks look surprisingly compact and accurate at the same time.
>>5555299
Yeah it was a pretty high price. The thing is I only have 3 spray cans for paint and maybe a primer? And being a poor fag I couldn't just go and get a bunch of paint from the store. Do you know if they are going to make more Dino bot model kits? I'd probably pay for more of those.
Man, Maketoys Blades looks amazing. I want all their Protectobots but if I had to settle for just one it'd be him.
>>5556111
I don't think so. I think Grimlock was just a one-off companion piece for Computron.
For the first time I regret my decision....
>>5556694
Elaborate, please?
>>5549229
>slightly wonky
kek. It looks like it's from another scaled figure that's how off it is.
>>5556700
I got gundog over Willis.
>>5556704
Guessing Gundog is left, and Willis is right?
>>5553669
It is better than MP-9 you fucking moron. Try reading the instructions next time you transform it.
Has anyone ever disassembled their MP-1 Optimus Prime's legs? The gas tank clip on one side doesn't seem to work and his leg won't stay extended. I'm wondering if a fix is easy or not.
>>5556694
Something about Gundog's stylized proportions really works for me, but the nasty face, painted headlights, and obstructed knees stopped me. Willis seems about perfect, but at the same time it's so straightforward and unsurprising that I can't get excited about it.
So I'll probably get neither, and that's probably fine.
Which one do you prefer and why?
I ask this because my DAI Stack arrived today, and I love the fuck out of him.
>>5557520
MP looks more like the animation model but it has that dumb but flap and a needless mechanism to move the launcher when a simple peg is all it needed.
KFCs will probably be cheaper though
Just ordered my first third party figure, MMC Spartan. I wanna get Gauntlet but is the exploding knee issue fixed?
>>5557520
Dai stack looks like shit at this point. The only think I like better on it is actually having the jet chestpiece; if takara had bothered to remold that on Magnus it'd be a must buy for me.
>>5557608
>Dai stack looks like shit
In what way, though?
>>5557616
The headsculpt most of all, but in general the proportions just look awkward and weak to me. Head is too long, chest is too narrow, pelvis is too big. Even minor things like the missiles or the greebling on the forearms look odd to me.
>>5557616
not the anon you're replying to, but stack just doesnt look as nice aesthetically, he's not as tidy looking.
having said that, i can see why people would want stack, cause Powered Convoy wasnt in the cartoon so accuracy isnt so important anymore. though i still think the MP is nicer
>>5557655
his head looks like something you'd see on a kiddy Power Rangers robot, not a $100+ adult collectible
>maketoys citybots getting KO'd
>upsized to 60cm/2feet
>improvements, including fixing design defects like the sliding mechanism and landing pad spring
>ports for compatibility with Iron Factories shit
>will likely be cheaper
welp
>>5557966
Estimated around 140 USD, reading from the tfw2005 thread.
I...hope for Pandinus KO.
>>5557982
Actually the iron factory guys might be Ko'd and included with the set. Also seems to have faction symbols because these guys don't give a fuck.
>>5557986
You're bullshitting me. This is fucking amazing. I almost want to pay them right now, but I want to wait for reviews to see if they make the joints handle the weight.
>>5557966
Anything below 200 and I'd buy this. I'm too hyped.
>>5557966
>as big as Hasbro version
>superior engineering
>superior base mode
>superior robot mode
>barely more than the Hasbro version when it was new
Hasfags BTFO. No reason to not get this unless you're a poorfag, a moralfag or sucking Hasbro dick.
>been mulling over several 3P things for months
>still haven't bought any because of the prices
Anyone else like this? Though I might just say fuck it at some point and get the IF Not-Overlord.
>>5558400
what will it cost and where can I buy one?
>>5557986
Wait, you mean their tank and Six-Gun might be included? Where did that show up?
>>5558514
No.
Find a product, read some reviews, purchase if it meets your requirements.
The size upgrade is not confirmed, apparently.
http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/transformers-3rd-party-discussion/1057987-ko-maketoys-utopia-10.html
>Big head, wonky arm proportions, potentially clusterfuck backpack from a design that never had wheels to begin with
That buzzing sound must be my Cassy detector going off.
Oh, hi.
Guess what arrived today? Way, way sooner than I was expecting?
>>5556755
Impossible to get the thing to roll asswipe, kept defending your takara and buying their half ass shit.
>>5558861
We really are the worst fandom.
>>5558874
i agree. just look at the previous Transformers general for proof. where half of it was used to argue about the comics
>>5558708
Different one, goofus. There's also an OS coming out.
>>5558746
i REALLY like his legs, that S curve is both dynamic and pleasing.
everything else though... holy shit
Anyone happen to have the Wukong Bumblebee? Looks like a pretty slick paint job for 20 bucks.
>>5558400
>Hasfags BTFO. No reason to not get this unless you're a poorfag, a moralfag or sucking Hasbro dick.
What if I don't like the coloring? Why's he all blue?
>>5557966
>Buying KOs
>>5559027
It's the Dystopia (Metrotitan) version. The regular version will be released after.
>>5559028
>muh company loyalty
they won't suck your dick because you bought their stuff and hated 3P, moron.
Just got Iron Factory's Scouts/Sniper from Mandy. Bought the set for Soundwave and the tapes, and will probably end up selling Perceptor. This is my first experience with an Iron Factory toy, but not my first experience with a legends class third party toy (PE Reflector, Rumble/Frenzy, Eject/Rewind)
I have to say, i'm kind of disappointed. It was just tacked onto an order, and I didn't really look at a lot of reviews. I expected his shoulders to be able to do a full T pose, but they only go up about 60 degrees. No ankle tilts, which is more forgivable because how many legends class figures really have ankle tiles. The rest of the articulation is spot on for a figure this size, though I wish he could've had an ab crunch like IF Overlord.
The alt modes are just jumbled messes. I mean yeah they're 'cybertronian' but I feel that most cybertronian alt modes are just excuses to release toys with random polygonal vehicles as alt modes.
Bot mode is on point. His chest even opens, granted, it's for transformation, but it's nice that it's there.
Nice tight joints all around, too.
Overall, i'd give the set a 7/10 but i'm biased because I'd like my Transformers to at least try to have a goal in mind when designing alt modes.
>>5559086
Nah, I don't buy KOs of anything- "official" or 3P, unless it's for customs fodder. I just find KOs reprehensible. I have no problem with third party stuff at all.
Let me explain it to you. Third party stuff is fair competition. They're producing entirely originally engineered products to compete with HasTak's offerings. They don't steal molds or engineering or anything- they build it essentially from the ground up. KOs on the other hand are unfair and underhanded. It's impossible to properly compete with KO merchants who literally steal your work and release it for a cheaper price. Furthermore, supporting KOs is actually damaging to the 3P industry. If people only buy KOs then the 3P companies will go under because nobody is buying their products. And then because nobody is making products for them to clone, the KO merchants will go under too.
Also there's the simplification and appalling quality you get from KOs.
>>5559088
>Overall, i'd give the set a 7/10 but i'm biased because I'd like my Transformers to at least try to have a goal in mind when designing alt modes.
the thing is, these are repaints of IF Blaster, who was based on War Within Blaster. So i wouldnt blame the toy for being accurate to a shit design
...still a shit alt mode thouh
>>5559110
>Also there's the simplification and appalling quality you get from KOs.
i agree with your other points, but this is not always the case.
>>5559131
I can't speak for 3P/MP KOs, but I've bought a KO Sailor Mars Figuarts and Miku Figma before and they were both utterly shite. I know decent KOs do exist but I still wouldn't buy them on principle (except, like I say, for customs fodder).
>>5559139
I sorta agree. I'd never buy KOs of Hastak toys. but for Utopia I think I honestly might.
The original isnt worth 400 in my eyes. especially after i payed 300 for SOC Gaogaigar and got a fucking masterpiece of a toy, i cant see myself spending more on a toy
>>5559139
Some 3P KO's improve on the designs of the original.
See Clonedroid Hexatron.
Meh, if a KO is identical quality, I don't care, because "muh feels" doesn't affect the actual chunk of plastic on my shelf. I wouldn't buy something of low grade but if they're 99% the same to the point you need a magnifying glass and an online ID guide to tell, then who cares?
Like right now I'm really tempted by one of those G1 Prime KO sets because it's $42 shipped for something of equal quality to the real thing brand new, and right now HasTak aren't even selling their own reissue. I try to find official Primes in the same price range, and they're beat up copies without accessories. What's the incentive in buying legit?
Shit, why not buy a $50 Reflector KO? There's no official reissue, any legit copy I'd buy would be secondhand, which doesn't give Hasbro a sale either.
It's like gaming fanboys who hate emulation, no one but you cares.
>>5559027
It's Metrotitan not Metroplex you pleb.
>>5558896
...Wow. That's getting a little crazy now.
>>5558861
>impossible to get MP-28 to roll
No, you're shit at tabbing things in apparently. It's not like the IF stuff with fake unrolling wheels. It just has really low clearance underneath and unless everything is tabbed in right it'll scrape something.
>>5558893
Like it or not, the movies/games/comics/toys all overlap and at times the discussions will overlap. Thats what you get when you have a toy line that started with a 25min long toy commercial TV show and now exists as a comic, movies, TV shows, etc. Shit, /co/ discusses live action movies based on comic stuff there, you can't avoid it.
I think KOs are fun honestly, especially now when they are starting to branch off from 1:1 copies, what with the oversized Utopia coming out and Weijang's offerings becoming increasingly elaborate and collectors grade.
Here's a question for you /3ptf/, what would be a KO that you would want to see? Like for example, I wouldn't mind someone releasing a version of the Cybertron Starscream mold, maybe upsized slightly, with added articulation and nonshit arms. You could release it in all the classic colors, and make a conehead variation as well.
>>5559390
This is gonna sound really weird, but a KO of RID Strongarm that uses better plastic, more paint, a less shitty gun and ups the parts count immensely (specifically to conceal the hollowness of her legs and fold up her backpack more) I'd buy.
On a less unorthodox note, Maketoys Nemesis into Toxitron would be great, though obviously I'd prefer it if Maketoys released one themselves.
Here's the link to the more recent Utopia KO thread, which IS going to be 2 feet tall.
http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/transformers-3rd-party-discussion/1063231-ko-maketoys-citybots-oversized-60cm.html
>>5559449
I know these guys are going to KO the upcoming Pandius and upsize it to pair with Utopia, maybe if we're lucky they'll do a Black Zarak repaint.
>>5559390
Upsize KO of FE Prime Starscream.
Big Bag o' Minicons.
KO OVERLORD. I wonder if the only reason it hasn't been knocked off yet is because no KO company can get their hands on the real one to cast parts from.
How is Clonedroid Hexatron?
>>5557966
>tall as HasTak
This is literally all that was holding me back from jumping on the MT city bots. Metro Titan here I come
>>5559516
Pandinus looks fucking stupid. Scoponok isn't a bloated, hulking roid monster. I hope it doesn't tank MT.
>>5557616
Seriously, how many times does this conversation come up any time citizen stacks gets posted. I swear we had this discussion last general as well.
I'm more surprised people don't ask "How does anyone think it looks good?".
>>5560136
They will sell at least one to me.
>>5560140
>muh opinion should be universal fact
go back to Youtube bitching, AlphaOmegaSin, real people are having a conversation here.
>>5559865
Better than MMC.
>>5560196
Did you quote the wrong post?
Bought a ko evasion prime with ko dx9 upgrade, anyone own it? I'be heard the evasion ko is better than hastak's no idea on the kit
>>5560140
>how many times does this conversation come up any time citizen stacks gets posted.
I guess opinions vary, huh?
Meanwhile, you did not even attempt to answer. I think it looks good. Why do you think it does not?
>>5560960
Others already answered anon, but if you want me to add to them. Kfc used shit plastic and it also had terrible QC, it ended up feeling and looking like a giant mcdonalds toy. If it costed the same as a Hasbro leader class it would have been passable, but for something that cost $180 the quality didn't match up to the price.
>>5561041
I don't know what you paid, but I didn't fork over $180.
>>5561041
>Kfc used shit plastic and it also had terrible QC, it ended up feeling and looking like a giant mcdonalds toy.
Except KFC stepped up their game and used actual quality plastic for this figure. Their previous releases felt like crap but this was a quality figure. Try again.
>>5559390
KO MP Ironhide with the shin/tire mod.
>>5559390
KO MP Wheeljack with toon colors.
TFSource has Hercules and Green Giant on sale for the exact same price of $349.99
Which would you get and why?
>>5561449
I have have TFC's not!Devastator, so I'll just stick to him.
>>5561086
>Except KFC stepped up their game and used actual quality plastic for this figure.
Sure they stepped up their plastic from previous releases, but it still was shit compared to any other 3P. I don't know what figures you own and why your idea of quality is so low, but stacks was not a quality figure.
I'm just going to assume you don't actually own the stacks.
>>5561449
TFC Hercules is superior.
But I wouldn't pay more than 200 for either set nowadays. I got mine for 175 complete with rage of hercules off of ebay a few months ago, just follow the search and look for best offers.
Green giant is now worthless because a nearly 100% identical KO is available for like 200 something, and it has that weird fucking mouth.
seriously.
If you want a MASSIVE devs - get a used CW devs off of ebay and get the shadow fisher upgrade kit for some fixes and be done with it. don't play with it though because it's unstable and completely shit.
>>5561579
>Recommending spending 150+ dollars on the garbage CW figure
>Recommending spending 50+ more dollars to fix an already shitty figure
There are people in the official thread who have spend 200+ dollars upgrading the 200+ UW devastator and it fucking baffles me with so many superior 3P options available at those prices.
>>5561566
I do, and I sort of have to concede, and yet I disagree overall. Quality is fine. Plastic is not heavy.
>>5561449
I got Green Giant for 150, so that's the one I'm sticking with. TFC Hercules looks like a mess with weird proportions and hasn't aged well, I don't understand why anyone thinks he's great, but if someone prefers him that is their perogative. I like Giant a ton. He's got a lot of dynamism going on and I always get a little happy seeing him because of how well all the robots disappear into one consistent, defined form. He is not G1 Devastator at all, not in the slightest, but he is totally a guy who would appear in a Brave series and you know what? I like that better.
>>5561598
I said if you want a MASSIVE devs. Some people just want the BIG one, and the shadow fisher or PE kits fix a lot of the 'looks' the stock toy has.
I personally prefer Hercules because I think it's the most cohesive set among the original choices.
Might trade up for the partsforming toy world devastator at some point but I'm not sure.
>>5561598
They spent that much because they want a geewun devs not the its a green construction vehicle with 50 different stylized liberties taken devs
>>5561598
It honestly looks very nice.
>>5561963
This.
The only reason I bought Devastator is because of TF Devastation, and I want one that looks like that game
>>5562458
>It honestly looks like shit.
I went ahead and fixed that for you.
>>5561963
>>5562458
How much are you willing to compromise for looking accurate? I'm on the don't give a fuck spectrum since I'm already 1/2 done with Gravity builder.
My issue isn't aesthetics (Although the un-upgraded CW figure does have proportional issues). It's the fact that it's made from KO-like upscales of super simple legends-like transformers.
It's priced at six voyager figures and comes packaged as six big legend figures and that's full retard.
>>5562906
I spend similar money on Sentai stuff that is similarly simple so I don't care. a good toy is a good toy. Not everything needs to have super articulated or overly complex.
Not nearly as delayed as I've come to expect.
Speaking of Devastator, on an off chance does anyone have the Junkion Blacksmith G1 upgrade kit they're interested in getting rid of? With with or with out G1 Devy.
>>5562906
it has it's issues, but it's also the closest we'll get to a MP show accurate Devastator. The guy who designed it even used his MP designs he made personally for the devastator figure because its as close as we would get. Wrist articulation, tighter joints, and elbows would've been awesome, but it isn't a Collector grade figure. It was made in a line for children to play with, it won't be up to par with 3rd parties or MP's, but it's as good as we'll get in an official release.
>>5562906
Honestly they're more like upscaled Deluxes with more parts count. I dont like it when people call them legends toys, legends toys dont have wrist swivels, they dont have ankle tiltes, even alot of Deluxes dont have that.
Doesnt bother me, still fun toys
>>5557520
desu I don't like anything about stack, like literally nothing.
>>5563044
I'm tempted to get it since Legends Triple Changers of the Triple Changers by hasbro are not likely to happen.
>>5563068
if it's supposed to be MP then why is Mixmaster totally changed?
Anyone have the KO Oversized Feral Rex? I'm thinking about getting it for my MP shelf since their is a serious lack in non-seeker Decepticon MP figures and they are relatively in scale with the MP line. I just don't want to drop 130 dollary doos on something that is a brittle piece of shit.
>>5563087
It's heavily simplified. The hands are just hollowed-out blocks with no finger articulation. On top of that the plastic is pretty shite.
>>5563083
its not supposed to be MP, the anon is saying its the closest thing to an MP. also only Mixmaster's alt mode is different, his robot mode actually looks just like the show
>>5563083
>if it's supposed to be MP then why is Mixmaster totally changed?
Okay....
>>5563093
>Gigantic purple barrel sticking off his backside
>Just like the show
No.
>>5563089
which aspects are simplified? I already knew about the hands, but those are easy to cobble together new ones out of Unicron hands. Is the plastic quality like Brown/gold plastic shit? or CW shit? I can deal with CW shit.
>>5563100
The heads can't turn, a lot of articulation is sacrificed in general and he's hollowed out to hell and back.
I can't speak for the exact quality of the plastic as I don't own him myself but people who do have told me he's worse than CW. Typical dollar store crap plastic- really thin and wanky.
>>5563104
shiiieeeeet, so much for a big ass predaking.
>>5563098
Sorry this children's toy cant have mixmaster's barrel completly disappear like the show. aporogies for the inconbenience. - Takara Tomy
>>5563112
>Completely disappear
It literally just sat on his back. If they'd had him turn into a regular cement truck like, I dunno, EVERY OTHER VERSION OF MIXMASTER EVER they could have done that.
Any good third party options for Blitzwing? Already tried the generations mold, it was garbage.
>>5563133
One or two companies are taking a crack at MP Blitzwings. Ironfactory is doing a legends. Outside of the Gen mold and it's add-ons, that's about it.
nice
>>5563186
Is that seriously a 3rd party Pointblank?! I'm throwing money at my screen but nothing is happening. Is it MP scale?
>>5563095
How the fuck are they supposed to realistically do anything about that, moron?
>>5563186
>>5563219
It's Maketoys Pointblank. MP scale. Here's a digibash.
>>5563219
Technically he's MP scale which means he's huge. He's more the size of MP-10 than the carbots. Which is accurate compared to the headmasters.
>>5563178
Might go with one of the MPs, then. Are any of the add-ons for Generations any good? They all seemed like garbage to me.
>>5563319
Most of the kits do mostly the same thing. New head, clips for his shoulders and some sort of rifle or missiles. Expensive for what you got and didn't really improve much on the toy. Dr.Wu's kit at least had an interesting face removable gimmick.
>>5563357
That's a real shame, man. Generations Blitzwing was nothing but broken dreams.
Have to shout out about this guy. He's ridiculously amazing.
>>5563248
>jimmies status
>rustled
>>5563257
Well that's just fuckin sexy. I'll for sure be buyinig that.
>>5563068
>It was made in a line for children to play with
And yet none of the individual figures even come close to the complexity, detail, or quality of previous voyager figures that were also made for children to play with.
>The guy who designed it even used his MP designs he made personally for the devastator figure
That's all well and good but it doesn't make the figure good. Honestly, hearing that just hurts me because Hasbro is effectively putting the guy's effort to waste by insisting on this simplicity shit and budget cutting.
>because its as close as we would get.
This is just making excuses for Hasbro. They could do better for the price point but they choose not to. I'm not asking for third party levels of engineering here. I'm asking for something that at least lines up with the quality of previous Classics/Universe/Generations voyager class figures.
>>5563806
current voyager class figures outside of devastator can't line up to the quality of toys of yore. I'm afraid the days of Classics/Universe/Early Generations are behind us Anon. Welcome to the world of official toys with KO quality plastic.
>>5563516
In what way? I don't even like the thing, I just think you're retarded for expecting a toy to make a cement barrel disappear.
>>5563848
Well, I guess the upside to that is it loosens my budget so I can put that money towards more 3rd party stuff...
>>5563806
>>5563848
>>5563995
>>5564030
Go gargle more of Hasbro's manbatter.
Unpainted protos of new Iron Factory.
Aw shit.
>>5564293
Well, it looks cool. Kind of bummed it's not closer to God Ginrai in a few other ways, but it being legends scale makes it hard to pull off the whole thing.
>>5564292
>>5564293
>DW Prime to God Ginrai
Holy fuuuuuuuuuuuuuckkk
>>5564434
>IDW trash?
Blow me.
>>5564446
I'm not a fan of the IDW designs as much as you are but calling them easy alt modes is a fucking understatement.
>>5564450
>calling them easy alt modes is a fucking understatement.
Okay. I concede. I can't even begin to fathom the work that goes into engineering a single Transformer, no matter the alt mode. I guess I didn't mean easy alt modes, I just meant easIER alt modes than G1. I mean, the IDW ones are so detailed and provide a much more sense of 'realism' than most stuff G1 has. Picture related, you can see where everything goes; the grill, the cannons on the arms, the wheels, etc.
>>5564457
Now if we were to try to apply the same logic to a G1 picture.. you can very clearly see the wheels but.. where the fuck is everything else? The windows, the spoiler, the door handles. Now, this isn't a knock at Iron Factory, as many companies--whether 3rd party or not (here's lookin' at you, MP Ironhide) have tried to adapt the G1 show models and failed. I'm just saying, if Iron Factory is the be-all end-all of Legends scale toys, I'd like to see them try something a bit more challenging.
>>5564460
This is why I laugh at people who try and claim the movie Transformers have impossible transformations, like that's anything out of the ordinary for this franchise. If anything, it makes it more spiritually Transformers than most iterations of the franchise are.
>>5564470
...Whose hand?
>>5564446
>I'm just saying, it's harder to make a good robot turn into a Walther P38 than an nondescript tank or some shit
but Iron Factory did make a Megatron that turns into a Walter. But its being released with Gravity Builder, just as their G1 Grimlock got released with Warbotron's Computron
>>5564460
In my fantasy reboot of the MP line, everything is scaled around a small voyager Optimus and is focused completely on nailing that blobby toon accuracy rather than licensed alt modes. Basically it would borrow the design methodology of Animated but in a G1 aesthetic with a larger budget.
>>5545080
wow, maketoys actually changed Gaurdia's head, must be cause of the CW one. Looks nice
>>5545080
new line from Maketoys called Cross Dimensions. Pictures shows a stylized G1 Prime.
his pose seems to highlights poseability and dynamism, so I hope this is a line of anime-style G1 action figures, i always wanted something like that
>>5545080
Are the Armored Battalion worth 65 bucks + shipping? I already have the original molds, and of the Battalion i only want Ransack and Chop Shop...
>>5564715
forgot pic
>>5564715
Absolutely, I bought them a couple years ago for more than that and the only complaint I have is that no one's made a Venom to go with them.
>>5564705
I'm still pretty conflicted on Guardia. He's got a lot of awesome stuff going on but my inner GEEWUNNER just can't decide if I want him in my collection. MMC's looks like it scratches that itch but if I recall, they're going for more of an MP scale with that and mine is more of a CHUG collection where the scales would be way way off. I mean, Guardia still works as an reimagined update so there's that but I'm still just not sure.
>>5564712
I have no idea what it could be. My best guess is just a generations subline where they can release anything from G1 to Beast Wars to Prime characters under a catch-all title. That's what I'm hoping anyway given the "Cross Dimensions" name.
>>5564974
it depends. do you want a dynamic, stylised Defensor with inaccurate Protectobots? or a more normal Defensor with accurate Protectobots? if its the second just stick with UW Defensor, cause he's cheaper too, but Gaurdia looks way cooler and stronger in combined more
>>5564974
Honestly after the disaster I had with UW Defensor I'm going with Guardia once they're all out. The individuals, whilst not accurate, are really neat looking- especially Blades, and the combined mode looks awesome. Sure the legs are kinda messy and he cheats a bit with the leg supports but Maketoys knows how to make a good solid combiner.
>>5562599
>being this invested in what other people like
Is that buyers remorse from owning one of the 40 3P Not-Devys when the UW Devy came along for so much cheaper while still looking good that I smell?
>>5563454
Theres rumors going around of a TW Megatron that'll be a triple changer, that will be remolded to Blitzwing.
Also Gen BW wasn't even that bad. It's just those fucking shoulders, which you can fix with some filing if you can unscrew his midsection. For a $24 toy, you can spend the 20min to fix it rather than look for some 3P that'll cost 3x that that might STILL have issues.
>>5565129
>IRON FUCKING FACTORY
My mind went somewhere else
>>5565129
I actually sold off my 3P collection and dedicated myself just to Iron Factory for this reason.
>>5564474
Which movie? The 86 one where 'botmode Hot Rod has colors that just aren't present on the car mode and similar shit thats happened since the series debut?
Or Bayformers where every robot is a literal walking scrap yard mess of unrecognizable shit that somehow becomes a vehicle?
Both have impossible transformations, just in different ways usually.
>>5565141
Don't get me wrong, I think their stuff looks neat. I want a Not-Overlord and maybe a Not-Magnus, and this Not-Godbomber looks good too.
But shit, if I'm gonna pay $30-55 for shit at least be taller than like 5 inches. And have rolling fucking wheels, holy shit, you can spare some rolling fucking wheels can't you? Just stop including 40 rifles with every set.
>>5564597
Its scorps. You can remove the claws and he has regular hands.
Seems Hulkie just got in stock at TFSource
>>5564715
I have them and like them, but I don't own the original Insecticon versions and I don't like them enough to consider buying the mold twice.
>>5564715
Where are you finding them for $65+shipping?
>>5565266
That's his strong hand
>>5564712
As long as it's something not MP scale
>>5565266
did we ever get confirmation that this started life as a WFC tryticon?
Its scorpion mode just looks like a clusterfuck, and it's base (throne?) mode has a lot of resemblance to Trypticon's city mode mixed with his battle station mode.
It's hard to shake the inkling that he wasn't meant to be scorponok
>>5547597
came here to ask if there are any 3Ps doing Rodimus, and boom.
God bless Fanstoys, I really hope it works out, mp28 is close but dropped the ball and carry is stupid looking
>>5564292
>Fake wheels.
>>5566283
What wheels are you referring to? They all appear to be actual rolling wheels.
>>5566460
Not that Anon, but a lot of the IF toys wheels don't actually roll. They're solid unrolling bits. So it's not odd to assume they might not actually roll.
>>5566540
Not that it actually matters, but which of their releases don't have rolling wheels? Pretty sure everything to date at least had the half wheels
>>5566647
IIRC (because I don't actually own any of them yet) IF's Not-Magnus and Not-Datsun's don't have rolling wheels.
>>5564460
>where the fuck is everything else? The windows, the spoiler, the door handles
Actually Breakdown's spoiler is on his back. not that it negates your point, but im jus sayin
>>5566737
Nah, it's just Ultra Magnus. The Datsuns totally have rolling wheels; I have them right here. You can outright tell that UM's don't roll, but the ones on OP here look like separate pieces with axles. They probably roll.
