Let's fix that. How's everyone else's clusterfuck looking?

>In that moment when autism kicks in to the point you want to limit what you obtain, but have no idea how to display anything.

>Second thought comes into mind that you don't want people to see your valuables for fear they may want to steal them or even worse...wanting to touch them

>limit your collecting to what you love

Looks like a store. Are you a store owner?
Btw, dig your MotU collection, kicks in some good memories.
>>
>>5529308
I looove these sorts of displays. It's like walking into an uber cool collector shop. I know a guy from a TMNT forum who's got one like it, but with added glass counters full of stuff, probably left over from a jewelry store or something. House goals, yo.
>>
So uh...anyone plan on actually posting their collections?

wow this reminds me so much of my childhood, lots of things in your display that i had..
monster in my pocket, turtles, battle beasts, m.a.s.k, visionaries, ghostbusters, transformers, he-man, thundercats, rocklords, xmen...

awesome display man, so much nostalgia
>>
>>5531837
>Please do not touch

Or dust it seems. Nice display though.
>>
>>5531845
I've given up on the dust battle until I can seal it up with plexiglass panels. For now the poor dudes shall be dusty.
>>
>>5531837
How much does the big dudes cost on average?
>>
>>5531853
Uhh the bottom row usually about 130-160 in pretty good condition, more if they're boxed or whatever. Voltron (boxed) I've seen go over 500 and Daimos on the left is just a rollercoaster. I got mine for 150 but usually 250+.

If any of them were their Popy counterparts it'd be much more. A beater Popy Daimos is almost always a grand.

>>5529308
This hits me right in the nostalgia. Your collection is basically my childhood. Nice.

As for my collection, I've changed my desk area and added some RGB LED Lights. Toy area only has a few new additions.
>>
>>5531879
Sick setup Anon.
>>
>>5531879
What are the black boxes on the bottom left, and how much did they cost? They seem pretty awesome
>>
>>5531890
Thanks.

>>5531895
You mean the shelves? Those are two Ikea Bestas (one tall vertical one, one short horizontal one) pushed together to make an "L" shape with Venksta glass doors and Inreda glass shelves. Don't remember how much they cost...think I may have paid $450 for that whole setup with the glass doors and shelves and everything. They're pretty awesome, but I need to redo the LED lights in there because it's so dark.

Yeah, I meant the shelves.
God, Ikea's furniture system is just retardedly complicated to me. I guess it really doesn't matter too much, shelves are shelves

well, fucking props man, I'm terrified to even put together a little kotobukiya kit let alone your average plamo, and with the size of that collection I'd be impressed even if they were all RDs.

>>5531922
what's that smallest Chief from? Been looking for some non-343 Halo figures but all I can find is McFarlane stuff which I'm not too sure about
>>
>>5531916
Well I got the idea from some other guy's setup a few years back. Took me like 2 months to actually figure out the exact shelves I needed. I don't live in the same state as an Ikea, so I kinda had one shot to get the right items delivered otherwise I'd be screwed.

But yea, I agree, their system is needlessly complicated, but it's also very affordable and looks really cool when you get it right.

Don't props me, senpai. Quality and quantity are two very different things. I'm only an average builder. I believe in you doing that koto kit.

You can get the undersuit separate or with the Halo 4 armor (which is what I did). You can buy separate Halo CE or Red/Blue etc. armors. I honestly don't recall the price but it was probably something like $50 on sale altogether.

>>5531944
Thanks mang
>>
>>5531957
Yeah, from the pricing I'm seeing it's about fiddy bucks for the undersuit and the armor pieces altogether, which for a 1/10 is not at all bad.
Pretty damn Jewy of Koto to try and get people to buy the full Halo 4 suit AND an armor set on top of that instead of just repainting the regular release Halo CE Spartan from blue to green
>>
>>5531957
Did you buy that Lady Sham because she bargain binned? Too poor for the 1/6, eh? I really enjoy looking at the token few 1/6 figures that you can afford. Couldn't spring for the Hot Toys Han and Chewie set, eh? I can read you like a book, you're nothing but an action poorfag to me!

I've been getting rid of a lot of things lately to try and make my collection look a little more focused, and really only buy from a few certain lines rather than buying everything I want. Only a little over $500 including taxes really. and its the perfect fit for such a collection. It gives off the illusion of class and wealth despite being mass produced crap from a big chain. Why bother branching out into different, more sophisticated displays when his interests barely branch out beyond the most popular sci-fi and superhero movie franchises? Just so cold and sterile. That big Master Chief helmet and statue along with all the Star Wars crap from sideshow makes me kek, just feels like the toy equivalent of a Budweiser header in a home bar. Just trying so hard to make it feel authentic.

you get some props for the Hellboy, James Jean turtles, and Original Effect shit, though.

That lonely, ninth detolf here

>>
>>5534247
According to the faggots who always bitch about detolfs yet never offer an alternative, there isn't a brand name one, just custom shelves or hand made ones and shit. Go to the last mom and pop furniture shop run by a surly old mustachioed immigrant, who will carve out a beautiful handcrafted masterpiece of wood and glass for a few hundred, so you can put your Japanese toys and Necas and junk inside of it. Because thats how everyone buys their furniture, no one actually buys from ikea.

And of course, nothing says "toy display" like a cabinet your great grandma puts her good china in.

I like the rectangular acrylic risers from The Container Store. Different sizes make it easy to set up a tiered display with larger or multiple scales of figures.

I haven't purchased a tiered stand yet but I've heard the one from smalljoes (http://smalljoes.com/apex-action-figure-collectibles-display-case.shtml ) looks good and fits a Detolf nicely. I'd like to get one for my Nendoroids.

You might want to move all those trade paperbacks to the bottom shelf. The one they're on looks like it's about to buckle.

I like the superheroes, but I think your X-Men deserve a shelf like your Justice League.

Also, get a comic book box, you animal.

8/10 display
>>
>>5536876
I have many comic book boxes those are just recent ones that I haven't put into a box yet. I should probably move those TPBs down to the bottom shelf, plus I'll have more stability. Then move the vidya down and give the X-Men a shelf they deserve. Hmmmm.... I may have a project this weekend....

A temporary shelf and only about 80% of my collection but I'll be getting in more detolfs to give them a good display. This is basically an old file storage shelf I found at work that put some white backing on, works quite well.

It's a Legend Studio display case.

WAY too overpriced for what it is ($180). It's not real glass, it's acrylic. The parts feel cheap as hell, and one of the LED lights on mine went out after a month of owning the damn thing. It looks nice, but I'm not sure I would have bought it had I actually seen/messed around with it in person.

Guess you're wrong there. I genuinely like Zelda. One of the reasons is because as a kid, my dad lived Zelda 2 and it was one of the few ways we connected since he and my brother are obsessed with sports and I was always into video games. Zelda kind of brings back great memories of me and my dad trying to figure out the puzzles and shit. I actually really like the majority of the franchise's games.

Was saying more about the actual shows rather than the toys themselves. I also don't really see toys improving that much in the next 30 years, but I could be wrong. The change won't be as noticeable as the difference between toys 30 years ago, and toys now.

People say this about every product between every generation and they're always wrong. In 30 years you'll see more refined/better materials, new joint systems, newer or more accurate forms of detail printing - and that's not even touching on how 3D printing will affect things.

By 2045 people will look at our Figmas and SHFs and D-arts and laugh.

That store charged me $80 for a MOTU She-Ra figure a few years back that was still on sale on Matty's website for $30 at a time when I didn't know the value of the figures.

I went back a few months later around the time that those MOTU He-man figures hit Big Lots for only $10 each.

All Big Lots in the area were hit hard by a "mystery" scalper who bought them all up when each Big Lots store opened.

Go to Tates the very same day and they are full stocked with all of the exact same character that Big Lots were reported to have gotten. Each $10 Big Lot toy now had a $99 Tates price tag on it. I called the gay fat guy who works there out on it. He gets pissed, tries to make me sound like the bad guy and walks away.

Pro:
I really like 3A's take on the design (including the duck feet)
Light up function is very cool.
Paintwork and details are excellent
Articulated fingers are a nice feature.
Can get some versions (like my Shadow version) relatively cheap.

Cons:
Cape on all versions is black, not green. This honestly bothers me a lot.
Like most large figures, it's more of an art/display piece. It won't hold a very fluid pose well without a stand.
3A makes their toys out of the shittiest plastic. It always feels like it's THIS close to breaking when you first move a joint.

If you like display pieces, and you like the style, it's well worth it.

I knew nothing about the toy line when I first spotted the figure at this comic book store.

The price seemed high but it was my birthday and I really needed something to cheer me up.

>>5544657
> we kept telling you to not buy that She-Ra

I had already purchased it when I posted about it on /toy/.
All /toy/ did was rip me a new one for buying such an over priced item after I had already made the mistake of buying it.

The reason I keep sharing my story here on /toy/ is because they continue to try to rip people off by charging twice if not three times what some items go for to this very day. Which I guess you could argue they have every right to do but the fact that they are the worst scalpers in my local area is not ok. Even other local comic book store owners in the area tell me how they've seen staff members from that comic store always hitting up Toys R US on toy release days and scalp all the good stuff leaving the area bone dry so they can later turn around and charge 3 times what the figure is worth at their store. Say what you want but that is not cool. My posts are just a friendly warning for anyone who might live in the area. Am I still a little bit butt hurt over getting ripped off ?.... Maybe just a little I guess but life moves on.
