Looking for a Valentine's gift for my girlfriend (20, casual Lego fan). We got the Valentine's Cupid Dog set and built it together, and she had a lot of fun and said that she wanted to build some more stuff together. I thought it'd be nice to get her a small set for Valentine's.

Should I go with the classic Lego Rose, or the Creator Park Animals 31044? The rose is more obviously Valentine's related, but she thought the park animals were adorable.

When I said it was the first set I've picked up in a decade I meant it. I've only gotten a few Dimensions packs since I got it earlier this month. The biggest problem with making a Hall of Armor is that you have to add a pod every time a new figure comes out, which means you have to constantly expand the base.

This is a MOC I designed quite a while ago, and I never decided to pull the trigger. It would look cool, but I'm kind of glad because now I don't have to worry about adjusting it to accommodate X new suits.

Iron Man suits look just fine in a display case. I ended up ordering parts for a different MOC earlier this month.

After the ice melted and the phoenix vanished, many areas of Chima are flooded with water.
Suddenly a dinosaur tribe flee from dictators from below, seeking refugee. They are hunt by aquatic pirates and slave traders (reuse of atlantis molds suid/shark/crab) as slaves for the dark (purple) chi mines .

What i want to see are a dinosaur tribe, riding on dinosaurs (jurassicworld molds/dinohunters), some beaver and crocodile molds to fight in the water. Aquatic pirates with the atlantis molds and them having crab walkers, maybe a ship that is a half crab, flying shark subs and squid vehicles.
The enemy race would be revealed later.

I agree. When I first heard of ninjago series I hoped for "Bricks in nature" series as they are often pictured like that- In games, minimovies...
I hoped they will build/ rebuild sets to show kids how awesome is to rebuild stuff! ANd they could put instructions on their site.
Same with speedors- they barrely touched the customization aspect - in both sets and series. And I thought Speedors were amazing, because they were not only a game but also pieces that could be used with sets in normal play. (Not like Spinners). Regular. The base is the special part.

The only "Exclusives" are those that are rare or not released otherwise, like Venkman and McFly.

they are regular minifig, all the game data is on a little disc they stand on. some of them are exclusive, i believe Dr Who has a different print than in the big tardis set, but not all of them. I think the lego movie characters are all reprints, as is gandalf and I assume batman, but i'm actually not sure about the specific costune.

70323 Jestro's Volcano Base - £99.99

This is the largest Nexo Knights set yet but is also one of the least interesting in my opinion. The base is quite substantial, occupying an area of about 40cm in width and depth but there is little detail and it suffers from the same issues as 70014 The Croc Swamp Hideout. Lots of space seems to be wasted and the colour scheme is blander than I anticipated, consisting predominantly of black with a little dark red and trans-red thrown in to represent lava.

Despite its dull appearance this set is packed with play features. There are trapdoors, spinning blades, spikes, falling rocks and a lava waterfall, all of which must be negotiated before you can confront Jestro at the top of the volcano. This kind of playset does not appeal to me but I am sure it will prove popular with children, although I cannot help but think that it would be even better if the colour scheme included a little more orange.

The minifigure selection is excellent. Jestro, the Book of Monsters, two Ash Attackers, a Scurrier and Lavaria are included along with the Book Keeper, a short-legged lava monster whose job it is to carry the Book of Monsters around! We see this character in several episodes of the Nexo Knights animated series so I welcome his inclusion here.

Anon, I want to make a small Mars colony MOC. Question is, what color to use on the base? Dark orange seems the closest, but it's pretty rare and there aint no slopes other than 1x2x1 in that. Reddish brown seems too earthlike. Do I have to settle on dark red?

I stopped buying new sets in 2009 and discovered BL in 2013 or '14. From then to just a few weeks ago, I only bought old sets in the themes I wanted as a kid, which included Star Wars no newer than 2009. When the new TFA sets came out, I decided to remove the pre-2010 clause as well.

1) I don't really keep track of every dollar, but I'm certain it comes out to no more than $150 a month over the course of a year.

2) Given that the vast majority of my collecting is focused on retired sets, I just try to find the best deals on BL, but I'm also watching for sales/clearances on new(er) sets just so I don't end up spending extra a couple years down the road for sets that are available right now (75100 and 75101 are currently 20% off on Amazon).

Some TMNT foot soldiers look sorta like terrorists so they could work, same with ninjas, because, well, ninjas.
Star Wars has Stormtroopers and smilars which are pretty recognizable and look very sci-fi
I dunno about Jurassic World, what's in that? Park guards with weaponry?
LotR orcs and those would work maybe as monsters from other worlds, maybe summoned by Loki

This is a pretty old pic as hes boxed up but on that first pic I showed I managed to use transBlu joints on him! Just a shame lego dont like having large translucent parts much!

Still not finished though untill his limbs are 100% bluegreen and transparent! Its the only reason I look forward to bionicles as they might have more trans green I can use :D
In other news I cant get this looking anymore accurate :( The megablocks version looks pretty good for megablocks but still isnt as good as mine as they ignored the skull on the front and other stuff :P
