I did this with my first, Labrys, and only got as far as watching P4 Arena gameplay on youtube. Then I watched KLK just after Ryuko started to rise on the aftermarket, and now I finished Gargantia after seeing Amy pop up regulaly between 25-30 bucks. I placed an order which came to a total of 8500 yen and I chose SAL as my shipping method. I've had a couple of stands break in the same area due to falls, and have glued them no problem. Use good glue, let it dry, and stop being a hamhands.
You can also:
1- Keep that screw lose until you have the position you want, thus no pressure on the joint when you start posing it.
2- Use a pin and pin it. There's room.

The one thing I will always like better on figma is the look of the materials used. SH Figuarts always look like cheap plastic. I dunno if it's the paint job on the figmas or the plastic itself...but they always looks cleaner and softer. Just generally more appealing. I've tried rotating the joint. I tried switching the joints from arm to arm. But neither fixed the issue. I think the peg hole wasn't cut deep enough.
