As much as I love it, I didnt grow up with G1, i was more of a BW and UC kid. and despite how good some of those toys still are, I'd love to have renditions with more articulation that look like the show

So here's my gripe, MPs aren't fun toys. They are great to display but they aren't fun, at least not for me. Your mileage may vary. Armada with very few exceptions was an amazing line and a lot of fun. Is it weird that I think an MP of an Armada character would ruin the spirit of Armada? I know there are a few serious misses in that trilogy of toys but for the most part it was an amazing line and most, not everyone but most characters looked correct. Armada suffers from similar issues BW does, alot of the character is sacrificed but instead of kibble, it's shoehorned in gimmicks. Armada was a mediocre line filled with unposable bricks which shamed good designs, and could go for a makeover with modern engineering.

Armada Optimus got to the second place in the fan vote.
Even Dai Atlas got to the fourth place and he was in a single episode that was never aired. Altough he was the last autobot leader of G1

So I'd say the reason why people don't care as much about beast wars and such is because everything about it just looked awful.
Early CG combined with awkward skin flap shellformers.
Same goes for energon. It looked awful.
Armada's cartoon didn't try to pull off shitty CG and I guess that's why it's more popular.

I was glad when they made the Brave masterpieces. Not because of nostalgia since I never saw the show as a kid, but because it's something that looks good. Rather than being a mangled animal with metal bits sticking out of it. Or a bloated potato like grand convoy.

Beast Wars MPs probably got chosen over doing Armada or any other series because the designs are a lot more different from G1 compared to the other options. I think the designers wanted to stretch their range a bit more. Optimus Primal not getting any higher probably isn't due to lack of popularity, but because the old figure was pretty close to what people would want already,where as Armada Optimus and DaiAtlas were bricks. A lot of people were satisfied with the latest release of the '96 Optimus toy with the new head. Its unfortunate that Primal has to be the first MP BW figure, because Dinobot, Cheetor, or Megatron likely would've been more exciting.But the lead hero in a series kinda has to start off an MP line by virtue of how the market works.

It's basically sort of fanwank to explain why the coneheads didn't appear until G1Season 2. Back in the 90's when people obsessed over the details of what little fiction we had, one theory as to here the coneheads came from is that the Decepticons found them on their ship. so having them up and running and then stuck on the Nemesis when it crashes would explain why they weren't around in the Ark when all the other Decepticons came back online.


I think the idea with the timeline is that it's all predestined. Like how the Maximals found an escape shuttle on the ark. If they never stole that, the Autobots wouldn't have had to struggle to get the Ark up and running.

except that BW was never pure G1 cartoon. It mixed in a lot of elements from the comics, which don't really mesh well with the cartoon, such as Primus. No matter how much bullshit and lies Hasbro throws in to say there's some multiverse, Primus has no role or existence int he G1 toon. The only reason I got the classics voyager was because I wanted to see what the hype was about and someone was selling the United Black Optimus for about 60 so I figured what the hell. I much prefer the NP color scheme and I own about 2 different versions of NP anyway so I might as well.

I think the issue is that the toy version is a very different entity to the show version these are based on, the only linker between the two is that there is three of them and they share the same names, Funpub simply doesn't care about the original figure outside of it's combiner aspect, and I think that's just because they can use the CW molds.

In my area (aka: Fucking Nowhere, USA), the pegs were up until about November, hanging with Alpha Bravo's, Offroads, and Protectobots. Never saw any of the G1 crew other than Optimus and Megatron.
