>never noticing until now the hollow section of bumblebee's arms

OK, I'm going to be nice here, the hollowness SHOULDN'T be there but look at how big he is, a flip panel might make the fit a bit hard, and ...was there any tf's that had sliding fist in the last few years?

If bee was a tad bigger they could of fixed that, damn mp10 scaling man.

Seriously the only transformer I have that had sliding fist was g1 silverbolt, can't remember anything else.

>>5397408

Being an mp sorta justifys his displeasure, they have a bigger budget to work with, I can only see bee's size being his lame excuse.

Not buying it over the gaps in the arms alone is lame but...that's one choice, no one has the right to say who can spend money on what, we can't apologize on toy makers who fuck up, no matter how big or small.

Leave that for the fanboys who'd buy 10 and create shitty customs with
>>
>>5397403
I wonder how those custom figure making guys feel when someone, 3rd party or official, releases the character that they were making. Like say all of the people who made their own combiner. Do you try and sell your mess of a project? Or do you keep it?
>>
>>5397425
the hollowness being there or not being there doesnt effect how good it is as a toy to me. it's tiny as fuck and it's a good toy, who cares.

it's just a toy
it's just a toy
it's just a toy
>>
>>5397428
i guess they try and sell it still?

There was a bigger market for it before, but people are still making shitty partsforming Unicron Crotch combiners

So...I take it you're a fanboy who'd defend not blast off despite being a lazy repaint, generations galvatron for being a shrunken version of what he was supposed to be, or rid2015 strongarm for missing the paint apps to match its show appearance?

I'm sorry, look I believe in constructive criticism, without feedback what's going to stop hasbro from giving us $50 legion class toys touted as masterpiece micro masters or something silly like that?

The point of threads like these is discussion, to brainstorm, critique and perhaps give suggestions and advice over a toy, I can give praise to just about anything in the line, fuck I got all variations of the rid2015 optimus mold for fucks sake, but I am aware of the faults, and I and many others will voice them, it may not solve the problem, but that is human nature.

Its how americans keep their gun power, by voicing their opinions, if we the consumer would get off our collective ass we can have spring loaded missiles as a main stay and bee would have least a cover for his arms.

>>5397452
Wow, such butt hurt, I thought I was in 4chan not some fan club, surely you have a problem with a toy, anytoy?

And I was actually partially defending the hollowness too , I forgave bee's because of his size, a shame really, this thread is already going in terrible places

There were quite a few during UC and some CHUG stuff.

>>5397547

There are several sliding fist guys (Gen Scourge comes to mind) There are evenmore with swivel fists, ie the hand is on a pin swivel that spins, you can lift a panel, spin out the fist, often spinning back in some other accoutremont, like terradive's thrusters, then snap the panel back into place.

Both of those are ages old technology perfect to hide an unsightly gap that has to exist, but abandoned to keep parts count down.

Hell, if they'd have made any effort at all, like having his arm orient so the gap was on the bottom and partly hidden by that panel on the armature that hangs out there anyway, I wouldn't say a word about it. But they just don't seem to care anymore about anything but minimizing production costs anymore, even on the showpiece toys like the MPs
>>
>>5397473
I really wish he looked like that on the show. It was a badass design, and 10x better than what we saw on TV.

The toy itself is still leagues better than the Generations Tankor we got; even if it's not screen accurate.

One of my top 3 Tank-formers to this day. The other two being RotF Bludgeon, and CW Megatron.

Silverbolt in jetstorm and waspinator in thrust. The stupid part was them thinking the flying guy wasn't their flying guy and the bug looking guy wasn't the bug.

I think the rest didn't have preused sparks.

I always thought it was cool that Obsidian and Strika were autobots before they were vehicon-ized, with their Botcon figures paying attention to that. The black autobot symbol with the lightning bolt through it is awesome and it needs to be used more.

What doesn't make sense is how they would have their vehicon heads even if they aren't vehicons. Wouldn't it make sense that they would have something more typically transformers-y?

>>
>>5397706
>>5397706
No, I extrapolated. Which is using existing facts and drawing a logical conclusion from them.

Fact: More parts in a mold means more tooling, more machining, more QC checks, and hence, more money.

Fact: Both the pin swivel, sliding reveal, and panel covered flip out hands require more parts than just a hand that folds out from an uncovered gap.

Fact: Despite the fact that either a swivel reveal or slide out hand would have hidden the gap in the arm and made it look better, neither was used.

From this I drew the logical conclusion that they were skipped in favour of a more cost effective transformation, regardless of the cost on the robot mode's appearance.

That may not be the case. Maybe the truth is they couldn't fit a gimmick on arms that size (depsite clearly having done so on plenty of bots before it, and not at MP pricepoints). Maybe they were afraid it would compromise the transformation or alt mode. Maybe the guy who designed Bee has a boner for gappy forearms.

It is a mystery.

The few times the new design staff bothered with updating was when they just copied the IDW design instead of the G1, these guys are just flat out creatively bankrupt.

Pretty hyped we're getting a proper CHUG Soundwave, even if he's a bit big. He's my favorite character. I know some people were bitching about him looking too bulky, but that's the definitive look of G1 Soundwave for me. Maybe it's just because of the old toy.

I think the reason the eyes looked so weird on the test shot of Leader Soundwave is because the helmet wasn't fully pushed down. It looks fine in the cad render, so I suspect that the in hand pic is mistransformed.

60+25+10=95.

Wow, how could hasbro do this?

>>
>>5398835
It's not a bad price, it's just that the whole point of a box set is getting it cheaper than buying the figures individually, and getting the whole team at once. This one only gives you the whole team conveniently, which isn't bad, but its not great either.
>>
>>5398842

It was a repaint, but otherwise the same. I got that two-pack, too...in fact, I've had a bit of a joke mini-collection going because of it.

The "Universe" backstory says that version of Obsidian actually overthrew BW/BM Megs and ruled Cybertron (until Unicron grabbed him)...then the "Shadow Blade" repaint of TFA Voyager Megs came out in the same colors as Universe Obsidian.

Then so did WFC Darkside Megatron. Then so did Thrilling 30 IDW Megatron.

I've got them all standing on my toy shelf as my Obsidian collection, sort of a "Nemesis Megatron" group to go along with my Nemesis Prime collection.

Haha. When the bigass new Metroplex first came out I was coming back home from a plane trip and stopped at a TRU on the drive home because why the fuck not.

They had 2 Metroplexs and I grabbed one, and right at the cashier the girl asks if Im the guy thats been calling the store every morning asking if they have Metroplex yet. I fucking laughed and told her I just got off a plane from the other side of the country and thought id stop in to look around. Didnt even know these things were out.

Ive seen them though. Scalpers. Greasy fuckers sliding their claws deep into the wall of toys on the rack, digging around to find the right ones and shoving 5-10 of the same figure into their cart and then screeching at the guy working the floor to get all the ones from the back too.

Many of them are straight up afraid on confrontation though. If they are elbow deep in the rack digging for toys just walk down the isle and stand beside them and pretent to look for stuff. They fucking hate it. They feel they may be seen, or outed. They'll almost hiss and scurry away. And then I swear to fucking god, if you stand in that isle and pretend to browse right in front of where they were digging around, they freak the fuck out. They'll walk around the store and pass by that isle over and over again checking to see if you are still there.

I had one guy literally pass by the isle in quick succession about 8 times like he was just pacing back and forth and as soon as I left the isle he rushed back down there. He didnt seem like a scalper, but was some super autismo collector that didnt like people or something. He was looking at the hotwheels shit.

I can confirm this exact phenomenon, I've had it happen twice now. Once I vaguely knew the guy because I'd seen him multiple times at a local toy fair selling new hard-to-find items at a premium (he didn't recognize me hilariously). The other dude has a basket partially full of stuff that was rare or difficult to find, slowly going aisle aisle cleaning out anything good and buying all copies of whatever it was.

The car fembots have actually grown on me a little. They have a cute boxy style, almost like Gobots, the one that uses the Breakdown mold looks like the nerdy fat one who gets tired too often, the copters are still bleh though.

That's stupid.

I will admit though, when I had free time, driving around to all sorts of different stores and going to new towns miles and miles away was really fun.
>>
>>5399559
When I was a kid every Toys R Us in my area had new shit that none of the other TRUs had and usually I had never seen it anywhere before, as an adult I expect that and drive around to every fucking Toys R Us around just to be disappointed.
>>
>>5399563
This, fucking this.

I guess as kids we don't notice the stock rotations as much and as adults where we can see more stores we notice how fucking slow they are.

It sucks growing up

Some of it probably had to do with how little I went to Toys R Us but I distinctly remember in like 97 a Toys R Us 30 minutes from my house had a bunch of DBZ toys just shelf warming and I didn't even know they were available. This was before Cartoon Network got it and few people knew what it was in my area because Fox Kids aired it at like 6am on Saturday. It was the same with early Car Robots, only the Gamestop an hour away in a fancy mall had them for a few months before they showed up anywhere else. Does anyone remember Lionel Toy World? Every one of those in my area was completely different. Batman Returns had just come out and I fucking remember I found Super Powers toys at one of those along with some Return of the Jedi stuff on deep discount. I keep trying to recreate these awesome discoveries to no avail. I'm a fucking man child hopelessly chasing a nonsensical dream.
>>
>>5399608
I think we all are anon.

I used, and still do, love going into new shops that have a toy/vidya game display, some larger chains have clearance stuff that have sat there for years, others may just have a figure that I never thought I'd ever see, like the time I first saw a combiner wars deluxe (it was breakdown) or last week when we finally had a cw leader class that isn't a god damn megatron variation (we finally got starscream, threw my hands in the air out of rage of missing ultra magnus)

I haven't found anything good or new, not even the over priced "geek store" that marks their hot toys figures neca and all that for insane prices just never has anything new.

I envy americans, they get shit before australians and they get more of it (or so we believe), nothing hurts more than walking past a full display and next day someone guts it, doesn't matter what it is, if its something I see talked about here its fucking gone or never existed.

I missed out on a $10aud generations jetfire few months ago because of one little message that some discount chain had them on a local forum, and for the few I heard that went up ended up on ebay for $40-50, scalpers still trying their luck.

I'm glad I started checking that chain but I don't think I'll ever find a bargain like that, nor will I find anything amazing (with my UW devastator in the mail the few sightings of the cw version just don't excite me)
>>
>>5399608

Probably because as time goes on, toy stores had to compete with ever advancing shit. In the 80's, they just had to stock some NES/Master System/Atari shit along with whatever regular toys were hot at the time, GI Joe, Thundercats, Cabbage Patch, etc. They could afford to let shit shelfwarm, because you just didn't have as many options as you do today. If a toy store in your area didn't have it, guess what?

You were shit out of luck, had to drive to another in the middle of Buttfuck, Nowheresville, if you even wanted to do that in the first place.

Now, toy stores are up against fucking iphone games and literal instant gratification, online retailers, Walmart (yeah Walmart's toy sections are kind of shit, but they will kick your dick right off in pricing VS traditional toy stores), and more. They have to shuffle inventory more and chuck the shelfwarmer shit ASAP.
>>
>>5399446
>>5399446
Dude, the protectobots are barely out in some places, the autobots just now in others, and a few lucky people are finding the combaticons in the wild. Hold your shit while retailers perform the retailer equivalent of tree shaping that is stocking transformers.
>>
>>5399618
>I envy americans, they get shit before australians and they get more of it (or so we believe)

Probably because the companies making the stuff you like are all US companies. Same reason why Japan gets all of the crazyawesome shit it does that we never get in the US, because it's made by Japanese companies and if you want it, you gotta import it and suck the dick of import fees.

>>5399622

My local shithole in Bumfuck, Nowhere on the east coast US is already on the Combaticon stuff, but still missing Onslaught/Scattershot, and never saw any of the Leaders except regular Megatron and Armada Megs.

>>
>>5399618
It's about the same in the US except in regards to distribution. I mean we had some of the stuff you haven't seen 6 months ago but in my area it wasn't on shelves very long. Most of my toys that I buy local come from WalMart or Target and their TF sections are 90% a single shelf warmer (some still have Rhinox) with the deluxe pegs gutted and rarely restocked. It's odd, because they sell out so well you'd think that they would stock more and devote a larger space to them. Nope.

You're probably right. You know what I miss more than anything? Weird events. Meet the Ninja Turtles. Meet Jeffrey the Giraffe. Meet Darth Vader. Does TRU still do that? Check out this particularly devious move for getting kids in the door.
>>
>>5399626
I live in Pennsyltucky (the redneck, flyover nonsense of PA that isn't Pitt or Philly), and my roommate and I lucked out when we swung by the Johnstown Walmart on the way back from seeing Star Wars in Altoona, they had combaticon limbs and nothing else. Our town, Indiana, still has one regular Crosshairs and two power battlers Crosshairs. They had 2 sets of Autobots a month ago (there's a single Suntreaker left) and nothing since, but god forbid an RID peg isn't full.
>>
>>5399641
A friend of mine who used to live in Indiana once found a brand new NES at K-Mart in 2002, I feel like a lot of stuff shelf warms there.
>>
>>5399640
kek, people in costumes in suits don't work on kids that know the characters, Santa and bank mascots ok sure maybe even darth vader or batman could fool because they're human sized, shit like ninja turtles I doubt would work on this more informed world of today unless they're stuck in a stroller.

I don't think many people have the ability to bother with suiting up for that shit anyway, its hot, hard to see, and for some people it creates an awkward atmosphere.

I walked past some suited rabbit man during last easter and kids were running away from him, he must of got bored because he kinda waddled up towards me to try and give me a hug, and being the awkward autistic fuck I am wearing all black and sunglasses in doors and a thick black jacket second I stopped to look he kinda scurried away.

I felt bad for him but people were staring at us both even though all I did to stop and look what was approaching me.
>>
>>5399641

Yeah, RiD shit is on the pegs. Last time I was there, it was all RiD and 2 Combaticon's left. And before that, all they had was Protectobots. Nothing of the G1 crew, though they had one or 2 Battlecore Prime's, and the ever-present Silverbolt's that will probably be there until the end of time.

It's too far for me to travel just to see meager offerings, so I mostly buy stuff online.
>>
>>5399642
That's AWESOME, both in the epic fail and "Holy shit a sealed NES" kind of way, but yeah it does, I go there because they usually get what Walmart doesn't, like the Protectobots, Whitebread Prime, and unrelated, but worth mentioning, the Halo Notnerf guns. I work in the Walmart electronics section and I found out we still have six copies of the ps2 gta boxset and two other ps2 games lying about.
>>
>>5399653
One of my local walmarts still has copies of .hack's 3rd ps2 game at full price, those gta box sets, and some other random ps2 games wtf is up with that? a few launch wii games as well, also full price
>>
>>5399658
Some launch 360 games as well, which are coming up on their 11th birthday wtf why are they still on shelves? I guess the dot hack game is even older now than I think about it... WTF?!
>>
>>5399622
Here in New Zealand we have Protectobots out the ass at the moment, even Legends Groove if you know where to look. '84 Autobot limbs are starting to appear in some parts, and I gather Combaticons are beginning to drop as well. That said, we didn't get anything from Wave 2 except Blackjack (who I'm pretty sure reshipped in a later wave, so will be the one that we have). Currently Wave 3 Voyagers are on shelves, and the occasional Leader Starscream, but no Thundercracker or Magnus. No sign of fixed Motormaster or Bsttle Core Prime either.
>>
You're only permitted to buy one version of each base Combiner Wars mold, but you can choose any version of it, including exclusives (though you'll still pay standard exclusive prices for them) and upcoming figures like Liokaiser. Swindle and Rook count as one mold, as do the other retools.

Which figures do you buy?

I have an honest question and I expect honest answers.

Are you/know any women who are into transformers and or own any of the toys, current or old?

I know one of the younger co-workers is interested and has some of the legion rid2015 but that's it, they also have some sort of gender complex but since I don't follow that shit I broke off topic and went on about the Japanese g1.

REALLY didn't want to get political at work, just seems odd every time transformers and women are mentioned they don't identify as a straight up lady, is it because they want to "transform" their gender or does the "women" need to have a male mindset to even like hunks plastic that can transform from fishbot to a haiku bot?
>>

A lot of tumblr has leaked onto the TF fandom with the advent of the MTMTE comics, as good or bad as they are. To be honest that sort of person has been in it for a while, they were just quiet and stuck to their own tiny forums and chatrooms. crazy, LGBT obsessed TF fangirls have been a thing since the earliest days of the internet, but now since the internet has become so integrated with our lives, they are as loud as possible. I mean fuck, they write the official canon now.

>>
>>5400041
Have any MPs had any electronic sounds? I'm 100% sure Kaye would be so on board for that.

Even on the Takara release.
>>
>>5400048
I believe only a variation of the mp-01 did but that was a separate stand.

But remember a few key notes

>mp's are intended for adult collectors and electronic noises/quotes don't work for everyone
>gutting an mp for a voice box may affect transformation design as it needs to work around the box
>any spoken dialogue would be based on japanese actors while a shittier hasbro release may either give us the english actors or scrap the gimmick due to cost/safety concerns

Not impossible, but I HIGHLY doubt we'd get any noises
>>
>>5400041
>does something the old ultra class can't
This. The bot mode was very good. Pretty much not much needed to added except some articulation in minor areas.

Also the MP better have all the weapons.

Looking at Takara's track record for cartoon accuracy they may go for two guns.

That's robot kibble sticking out the back. You can see it in the prototype picture.

I asked this in the 3P thread, but if Hasbro starts enforcing their copyrights, does that mean 3Ps are dead?

Most of the people in that thread said they aren't interested in original bots, just adaptations of G1 characters.
>>
>>5400287
It would hurt the 3rd party, mostly distribution if hasbro comes with a "we don't allow you to sell our stuff if you sell theirs" but it would cost Hasbro/Takara way more than is worth, 3rd parties have limited releases for a niche market that Has/Tak mostly ignores.

No if you use Offroad and Alpha Bravo, also Air Raid and Skydive share parts, but are not the same mold.
>>
>>5400588
>Air Raid and Skydive share parts, but are not the same mold.
Try convincing /tfg/ of this since they always say Air Raid is a remold of Sky Dive. Even in that 'mold list' someone put Air Raid under Sky Dive remolds.
>>
>>5400592
Because they are the same base mold with different components. However, the parts used with only one version are significant.
>>
>>5400588

Thats still not the official teams. You can't make either Superion or Menasor from that because they innately reuse molds.
