Greetings /toy/,
I am interested in making some of my art work come to life. I have been researching different ways to make toys and have decided to incorporate a modular peg system similar to Glyos, Figma, and other similar interchangeable peg systems.

So far here are the two resources that I have found helpful, with the first two links to a companies explanation, but helpful nonetheless:

Using Silicone molds and Polyurethanes:
>https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tnY86LIHf_I

Book on making toys:

Other than that though, youtube and google haven't exactly provided me with the best resources... or I am searching for incorrect terms.

On that note I am hoping that some of you may be able to point me to other useful sources of information.

P.S. I was going to put some of my concept art up as the picture for the thread, however I decided against it, since I don't want my ideas taken my someone who isn't as respectful as many of you are here on /toy. Finally, I prefer to keep it a secret until I make a hard/play-with-able copy.

You need to give more info on what you mean by making a toy. Do you have a budget? What's the suppose size of the toy. Can you make a physical sample of you art work , it doesn't even need to move , but it need to be in physical 3D form and not 2d picture . , if you can not do the above step then you need to learn how to do that first .

Bumping for interest

I don't recommend using resin as a primary medium for making toys since it's highly toxic, produces a ton of heat when hardening (and as such the stronger resins are limited by size unless you're using metal molds), and typically are nowhere near as durable as standard injection molded thermoplastics. If they're not meant for play and mostly just as display pieces, then I guess you could sculpt stuff from polymer clay or epoxy, bake it in your oven, and cast the pieces in resin.

Toy making isn't exactly rocket science.

First let me say I want to make them myself paint apps and all, in addition I would like to do a set run. I have a budget of $3,000. I work as a professional glass blower and concept artist, in addition I have implemented metal, ceramic, and carpentry work into my art for the last 10 years. I have made a few physical samples out of clay and glass.
>>
>>5383582
ah I forgot the size in this post:
>>5383616
Roughly 4 1/2 inches tall and 3 1/2 inches at their widest points.
>>
>>5383582
do keep in mind that in this post:
>>5383626
I am giving the measurements for the largest and widest pieces, since there are 5 different ones I would like to make.

Believe me, if you think your ideas are too valuable to post them here and this is the first time of making a figure, you are too noob to get something done. I can be almost predict how your project will go down:

>>you will get all your books and materials
>>you will start sculpting something
>>you will get discouraged when you realize that the sculpt you created sucks
>>you will give up and will be another idea person, like the millions out there.
Now, if you are serious about creating; The first step is to stop thinking that your art is good. If you think your first project will be a success you are positioning yourself to failure.

You need to practice until you realize your current designs are not as good as you thought they were, this is good, it means that you are improving.

Then start sculpting and sketching every day, from imagination and from real life.

Join a forum and Share what create and learn from the critiques. Be willing to help other people, this will make your art better.

After you get real talent you will realize that the mindset that you have right now was not helping you at all and you will be ready to create something good.

Take out your personnel problems with your doc not on /toy... I see you have experienced your own failure.

Clearly OP has experience under his belt and not your tiny cock.

Good luck with your dream OP, I have little to offer, only this link for making VINYL toys:

bumping because this looks useful and interesting

>>5385437
played around with monster clay before. its really fucking nice since it doesnt stick to tools like how chavant NSP does.
I couldnt get that shit to smooth out though. I read that lighter fluid or something similar is suppose to help but never had any luck with that.
>>
>>5386855
You freeze monster clay and it gets hard like a wax, not quite like castilene but closer than anything else. From there you can work with it like you would wax, which includes actual sanding and buffing if need be.
>>
>>5384261
in regards to what?
>>
I made resin mincraft figures with 5 poa out of resin back when MC hit 10 mil sales. It was a budget project and I didnt have a pressure pot. They were pretty good and it was pretty easy. I even sold some on etsy and expiramented with colored layers. If i had had a pressure pot they wouldve been perfect
>>
>>5386863
In case you want a second opinion, I use casteline hard grade for the whole sculpture and as long as you have an alcohol lamp and metal tools, it is very easy to work on it.
