Snoke is confirmed not Plagueis. The novelization hints that Palpatine was doing genetic medichlorian expirements . Snoke was a failed one who grew too powerful and escaped. Rey was cloned to hunt him down and eliminate him, but Palatine died before he could train her.

The point I was making is that it doesn't matter what the production people have said, to the common movie goers they won't know till he appears in the flesh. And it would be stupid to reveal that with a toy when they went with the trouble of being vague about his size. (Although it happens pretty often)
