Opinions on the Imperial Assault Carrier? Ordered one of these bastards this morning, dunno if it was worth £75, but we'll see when it comes.

And the friends challenge?
What is the point of a poll if OP is not going to respect the results?

Something something grey box.
Not a Star Wars man myself, but I can totally dig the figs. Good parts too. I could see myself picking it up at a discount.

Yeah I agree. I got it because it was already 20% off, going to see if I can mod it to carry the First Order Snowspeeder underneath.

Bought an Imperial V-Wing Pilot fig to pilot it, since I don't like the one they used, and thinking of getting a load of Imperial Gunners (found a 10 for $44 plus p&p on Ebay- is that a good price?) to man the rest. I was over the moon when I found out about Sabine with a helmet and that Astromech, though.

Generally asked just so I don't get buyer's remorse to be honest. Anyone have any ideas on how I could get it so that the speeder can be attached? It seems to heavy to just be able to stick onto the already present studs.

So, I revisited a build I made for a monthly challenge (May, I think it was?) because I thought it could be improved with a few minor adjustments.

My Post-Apoc Pickup now features rust on the sides to break up the grey and make it more visually interesting, as well as a tow hook on the front.

Now I just need the Futuron monorail MISB and I can die happy.

I made another Group 5 inspired race car. This probably will not be the final product as I am not necessarily proud of the way it currently looks on the front. I wanted to make something that looks like a cross between set 1496 and a Zakspeed Capri. What do you guys think of it?

I really like it. It is very boxy but that can be a good look with the right proportions, which it has; it looks great. I'd change the taillights but that's minor.

So what are you guys picking up January 1?

I'm picking up one of each of the Star Wars Battlefront battlepacks, Battle on Takodana (if I like the movie), the Ultimate Waifu set from Nexo Knights and a whole BOX of CMF 15.

I want the Brick Bank but I'm gonna wait for double VIP or something similar.
>>
>>5318435
Nexo Knights are definites. Not sure if I'm getting them all at once or just a couple to start. Definitely getting Fortrex.

I want the Bank too but I might wait for my tax refund, because of the irony and also because there might be a better free poly in February or March.

I guess this legion has been practicing their calligraphy. And spilled ink on themselves. In the exact same spot on both of them. Yeah, no thanks.
>>

>January 1
Chances are they aren't gonna be here on that exact day, but I will pick up [toyspoiler]Onua from Bonkle and his beast[/toyspoiler] as soon as I see it, and some Nexo, SW Battlepacks (ALL OF THEM) and Microfighters and S15 soon after.

Especially the Microfighters are a stretch, since I don't even have full S2 yet.
>>
>>5318507
Bugger. I'd love their helmets to be in the rebels style to fit in with my others. I hate inconsistency, the First Order troopers are already bugging me (not going to even start on the snow and flametroopers) but at least I can pass them off as Officers. Things that are similar-but-not-quite are the worst.
>>
>>5318139
The ship itself looks alright, and you do get some great figs.
Only real qualm I have looking at it is the insistence of mashing together midi and mini scale...
I know as a "Carrier" it should be able to ferry TIEs, but what are you really suppose to do with just Midi scale TIEs?

>>5318205
>Anyone have any ideas on how I could get it so that the speeder can be attached? It seems to heavy to just be able to stick onto the already present studs.
Yeah, you might need to work with those Technic elements to make an eye and hook system.

>>
>>5318531
I'm fine with the scale to be honest, always imagined those as advancements on vulture droids or somesuch, they'll be alright for parts and background elements. Preferring it as a smaller version and gunship, more of a vehicle ferry to my First Order Transporter and Imperial Troop Transports.

Of course, same reason I like the current AAT and Microfighter Vulture Droid; They may be smaller, but that means they're easier to move and buy multiples of.

i dislike technic and bonkle shit a bit, but the legs are pretty good, kinda surprised how nice those joints are, since iv never had one. and the wings arnt... too terrible. they look nice at least

but my fucking god does the torso and specifically chest on this thing suck
is there no other way for them to get a simple ball jointed wing? they need to connect EACH joint through 3 other blocks, root it in place from the top, and hollow out the chest to do it?
and that upside down click in chest is just crap, since no matter what you do, its not going to be flush with the normal build

it was great for its cost, but that chest was just megabloks/10

While A-Team has about as much of a chance to be bought by the kids as Doctor Who or fucking ghostbusters do so it's not unlikely, there's been some Adventure Time ideas project with a lot of backers so I honestly wouldn't be surprised if it's that and Mr. T is a standalone thing.

I finally got pic related after eyeballing it for almost a year.

It's really handsome car, probably the best looking of all Speed Champions. It's fun build and some parts are cool.

But why does it have so many stickers? I understand that stuff like this relies heavily on looks, but they couldn't print at least some parts?

At least now I know this is perfect set for torturing small children
>>
>>5319572
There was a minifig explicitly meant to be a WH40k Ork expy in CMF series 9 and the earlier marine is generic enough that you can treat him as an Ultramarine.

NK does bear some similarities to WH40k, it's kinda as if WH40k had a cartoon in the 80s

Does anyone here own a UCS Slave 1 and one of the lastest system scale Millenium Falcons?

I'm wondering if they're in scale to eachother or if they look weird next to eachother.
>>
>>5319788
>why so many stickers
It must be because of all the corporate logos. Nowadays - excluding minifigs - Lego never prints unless there is potential for print reuse, or if it's super necessary to have it be a print (ie. Chima Legend Beasts need their face prints).

The logos make it hard to reuse those designs in an unlicensed setting, so they have to be stickers.
>>
>>5319881
They've stopped making hard to reuse printed pieces around 2004 or so, when the company was in bad shape. You can see the trend slowly reversing though, Ninjago has a plenty of printed pieces that would've been stickers a few years ago (for example, all those windsows), and there's a lot of printed small tiles in multiple themes lately. Modulars seem to be getting own hard to reuse printed pieces too but that's a special case. Your argument does apply to licensed themes, though.

Someone mentioned the fact that apparently adults were whining about rare part colors only existing as printed pieces might have factored into this (sic), but I find it unlikely.

Not that bad honestly as the UCS Slave 1 seems to be a more bulky and detailed 2012 Slave 1
>>
>>5319884
Small tiles have to be printed though; stickerd would spell death for anyone at that size.

There are also a few exceptions to the reusability 'rule'. 2x2 round tiles can't have stickers when they're made to shoot out of tight launchers, joint balls will never have stickers stay on them, etc.

But I think it definitely is meant to apply mostly to licensed themes, with exceptions made for the specialty Architecture and Ideas theme.
>>
>>5319894
What's canon scale for those two? If UCS Slave I is meant to be as close to minifig scale as possible, that would make it smaller than the Falcon, if compared to its own UCS set.
>>
>>5319896
>Small tiles have to be printed though; stickerd would spell death for anyone at that size.

I dunno, 1x1 and 1x2 tiles with stickers were pretty common around 2008, but then Lego was still recovering from the late 90s-early 2000s problems by then, wasn't it?

>>5319898
Not sure if it is meant to be fig scale because in the movies the falcon and the slave 1 are about the same size. Which makes it understandable as to why it is not as large as the UCS falcon but fits with the small scale one.
>>
>>5319899
08 sets would have been conceptualized in 06 or so, at which point they would have just finished completely implementing the color purge. I would say they were still in money-saving mode.

What pieces were those, anyway? The only 1x1 with detailing I remember from a few years ago was the POTC compass from 2009, which was printed.
>>
>>5319907
A plenty of control screens in SW, City and Batman at the time were stickers. There were some in PM and Space Police too, but those were the last themes before the most modern era that happened with Atlantis and Ninjago. Nowadays there's a lot of 1x1 printed tiles in Friends and some in City and Ninjago as well as licensed themes, not to mention eyes in Mixels; Chima and Hero Factory had a plenty too. Together with Friends and Elves using a lot of printed pieces, it's safe to assume stickers are largely for licensed stuff nowadays. City seemingly uses them too because in some cases they want multiple regional variants iirc? Definitely was the only reason why police sets had them for a long while.
>>
>>5319894

And in the days of Antipolon a tax was declared on all the beings of the system, and so Polaron and his opposite Electrocles journeyed to the city of New Jerusalem (because he was of the clan and lineage of Ferrion).

And Polaron and his opposite Electrocles sought room at the inn, but there was no room, for many others had made the journey to be taxed, and so Polaron sought shelter in a storage riser.

And there appeared in the sky a great sustained nuclear reaction, and toward it came a pair of Ice Man prospectors, who were drawn to it, and before them appeared an angel, and they were much afraid.

And the angel said, "Fear not, for you will be those who witness the birth of the greatest power in the universe," and they were not afraid, and they made travel to New Jerusalem, following the sustained nuclear reaction.

And there appeared in the east three wise men of three ancient lines, for their transcoders had divined that a great power was soon to be born, and they wished to see it for themselves. And they came bearing gifts of gold, and futurite, and air.

And there in a nameless storage riser on a coincidentally-significant date, a magnet was born. And that's the true meaning of Christmas, /lg/.

There is speculation of a a post movie release set featuring Doomsday, based on reports of one for civil war but it seems unlikely. An unreliable source said the reason they only partially revealed the batmobile originally was because Lego was asked to pull a Doomsday bigfig and had to redesign last minute(substituting the forklift and goons for some ruins and doomsday). The source isn't good but I have never seen half of a set at a "reveal" before.

Trying to work out the kinks in this warrior-type lady, applying some of what was learned from Tattun. Any crits besides the full grey color?

I cant believe we're getting a skunk when there are a million more important animals we need

I personally am desperate for a deer, and no, sven from frozen doesnt count
>>
>>5321714
I could really go for some squids to go with the iconic octopuses.
Aquatic creatures in general. I love the 'gators and the sharks.
Maybe some other birds.
I also wish they'd settle on a fucking cat mold so I could collect them for my girlfriend.
>>
>>5321706
Probably some troll from a few threads ago whose post often featured phrases like "I only buy for my family" or "my family deserves better" or "what will my son do with this", who blamed the fact that he doesn't know jackshit about stuff Lego actually made on living in Australia. Was pretty funny while it lasted, frankly.

>>5321714
Deer are ugly and overrated, I want a lizard/salamander mold, maybe some generic molds for bugs (I like the two from Friends, would be neat to have them in brown or black) and a tiger. Would be neat to see more colors of cats too. And the big shark, camel and elephant molds should make a comeback (the shark actually did in UA, I think).

>>5321719
I don't mind that there are two cat molds for system stuff myself, I use the older smaller one as kittens like they initially were meant to be in Belville and the CMF ones as adult cats.
>>
>>5321721
>I don't mind that there are two cat molds
Yeah, it's not actually too bad. I was just joking because trying to sort through the colours on bricklink was frustrating.
I won't be satisfied until I have bought her the expensive/rare blue one, to be honest.
>>
>>5321721
The elephant mold is ugly as fuck. I'd rather they redesign it completely.

Personally I hate how inconsistent they are with scale. irl chickens and cats are of comparable sizes and yet the chicken piece is tiny and the new cat is giant. I know the older cat is smaller but unfortunately it has a stupid pose and its probably gonna be phased out of production anyway. Cats are also way taller than pigs now.

I like the Rebels stormtroopers, and I like the snowtroopers as sort of scout troopers in my mind. The flametroopers when I get them are going to annoy me because of the few minor helmet differences, Dunno how I'm going to work with the First Order troopers.

After I flesh out my trooper numbers and figure out an explanation for each of the different types I'm going to start designing a little base for them all.

They likely only bought the license because there's a movie coming up. Which, obviously, will result in short time of the demand rising. It'll likely be a better business than Lone Ranger, Cars or Prince of Persia, but won't last for more than a single wave.

They do and all those weird crossover Hasbro toylines flopped badly indeed. But like someone said already it's how most licensed themes work ultimately, I'm not sure how licensing works exactly, but I feel like a lot of them exists just to ensue better licensing deals for other stuff from the same companies in the future. It won't last for long, so who cares, really. Some smaller licenses would benefit from more than one wave (ATLA or Scooby-Doo especially), but overall I'm fine with anything but the biggest licensed sellers getting 6 sets tops usually.

Not the same guy, but much of the disappointment seems to stem from the fact that the original was so good for its time. Aside from being a little back-heavy and having weird-colored innards (like every SW set then), it was very accurate. You'd think that in 14 years (6 since the CW one) they'd make one that was better than, not equal to, the original.

Back in 2006, both Spongebob and Avatar themes were produced in limited numbers to test the waters on future waves. For some unfathomable reason Spongebob outsold The Last Airbender, so the yellow square stayed.

>>
>>5323657
I love ATLA but I'm not surprised it performed so poorly. One of the sets was a gray box, released before the series really went big and before some of the more popular characters got much development, I guess. They were released in 2006, iirc shortly after book 2 began airing.

Not to mention the location/vehicle choices were pretty poor, they should've done Appa instead of the ship. And maybe feature Iroh in the sets instead of generic and frankly pretty ugly soldiers. Meanwhile Spongebob sets and figures had good likeness to the show and it was at its peak popularity at the time, hence the ultimate outcome doesn't surprise me.

I wish they gave it another try but Lego's Nickelodeon licensing shenanigans were complicated (license switching between Lego and MB every two years or so) and it's been ages since the show ended and Korra is both less interesting and didn't perform as well so the only change would probably be an Ideas project or something.
>>
>>5323692
It also only got a limited USA release while Spongebob was also sold in Europe, this likely contributed to the situation as well.

I wish this stuff wasn't so overpriced on Bricklink nowadays, Aang and Katara look horrible but I want Sokka, Momo and some parts from the temple.

Me here from>>5320269, I agree a lot with >>5320824

The new one just has such weird proportions compared to the first two such that those looked so much more like that actual thing than the 2014 version. It honestly did feel like they took a step backwards as far as design goes. Yeah, they cleaned it up a little as far as smooth tops and removing studs on top, but the proportions just seemed awful.

Just played a game I randomly invented with my cousins yesterday on our iPhones. Made a story about Lego characters being captured by the evil overlord Muckman (90's TMNT figure), and took tons of pics to show what was happening. Called for help from the Master builders, had them choose which of their lego chars they were playing as. One was a native american brave, and the other was a minotaur. To keep them interacting, and not just reading a story, I had them build things that I requested, and I would set a timer that they had to finish working by. For instance, they needed to build a bear trap to stall an enemy that was chasing them. (I used a plastic bear trap accessory from one of my WoW figures). I also had them send short video clips of themselves rolling a D20 (20 sided die) when I needed to see how well they'd do at a particular event in the story, like climbing a mountain wall, or dodging a sneak attack. Ended up being really fun! I hope we play on a regular basis.

Like 4 in a cheap set like a battlepack
And the same with the black/white cows.

I would also like many different other animals and a City Zoo line.
If Playmobile can do it, Lego can also.

I found it strange the animals moulds for the cow, pig, goat and chicken where only used for 2 or 3 sets each.

Any somewhat racial comment (or hell, any comment even seen as political or racial), whether in jest or not, respond with "GO BACK TO /POL/, HURRRRRRR" (as if casual racism didnt exist on 4 chan before /new/ or /pol/ existed) and post that same screencap over and over again of lego getting getting called out for it.

Any questions about 3rd party or knockoffs bring half the thread into a state of hair pulling madness.

While I will give you that the saucer is much stockier on the newest version, as a whole it's not as dis-proportioned as you make it out to be.
Here is the 2014 version next to the same saucer parts for comparative scale.
As you can see, the original wouldn't be THAT much bigger, plus the use of dome parts makes a space for the hidden spring launcher gimmick that you wouldn't get with saucer pieces.

8018 from 2009 however, is flipping HUGE.
