Great figure for the most part. Way better articulation than you might expect. The main issue with it is that the wrist joints have been known to break when swapping hands the first few times if you aren't careful. After that they loosen up a bit and stop being stupidly tight.

The only other problems with it are the odd lack of a toe joint and that the wings spikes can have a tough time staying on sometimes.

Also the figure retailed for 9000. The price escalation on it is insane because of bandai's odd refusal to capitalize on demand for the Salvator Models. I'd think we'd get some "special colors" re-release with some different accessories.

I'm glad to see it does have a movable mono-eye. I was a bit concerned they wouldn't include that feature on the ANIME releases. Have there been any photo's of the Zaku's mono-eyes being movable too?

Still, I'm a little on the fence about this. The figure looks great, but it would've been nice if Bandai stretched the effect pieces out instead of packing them all in with Char's Zaku II. Seriously, the Dom has so little compared to the rest of this sub-line so far, and I really don't think it would've hurt much to include the bazooka and thruster effects with this figure. Or better yet, they should've made the bazooka effect exclusive to Dom since its' main weapon is a giant bazooka after all.

Nothing indicating a moveable mono-eye on the Zaku IIs as of yet. It seems like a feature they would have already touted if the Zakus did have it, so I'm doubting whether or not it'll appear on the final figure. Would certainly be an odd omission though, considering the hardpoint Zaku II and the Gouf Custom both had moveable mono-eyes. Fingers crossed the final figure will happily surprise us.

Sorry to barge in your thread bros, but this didn't seem worth making its own thread for, and I figured some of you guys might know. Is NXEdgeStyle worth the money? I've not really liked the look of the ones released so far, but god help me, I actually think the Astray looks rad. And this is coming from a staunch Astray hater. I am a bit trouble though that it doesn't appear to be able to lift its legs up, like, at all, at least according to Nuu's review.

Basically, I have no experience with this line, is it worthwhile?

Absolutely. The NXEdgestyle is more than fantastic at the price. Excellent articulation and paint apps, while some releases come with a fair amount of accessories, some not so much. They're like Super Robot War-styled SD figures with quality similar to Robot Damashii.

From Code Geass, the Lancelot or Guren Mk 2 would be good, basic designs to show what the line can do. The Gundam Unicorn/Banshee units are very good examples from the Gundam franchise. Just about anything from the Wing series would also be a good choice.

Billbine and Drumlo are by far my favorites, but your mileage will vary drastically, and you, since you are asking this question, you probably don't even know how to check your oil levels yet, you know? Not meant as a putdown, but you probably don't quite know what you like in a robot toy.

I honestly got into the RD line, with the GN Flag and OO units that would never get models. I've been ever since.

That being said, the early OO figures have not aged that well.

If you're looking for recommendations I'd recommend the Unicorn Gundam Destroy mode (the later versions) or Sinanju (animation edition). They come with loads'n'loads of accessories and the parts aren't finicky. Along with looking great (especially the Sinanju) and being very poseable.

Know if you want something different yet fun to mess around with I'd recommend the Alexander, it also has loads'n'loads of parts and is a nice looking fig with crazy poseability.

I've actually never had an issue with the face and I think it looks fine, but I'm not familiar enough with Freedom's design to pick up on the design's nuances. I've never re-watched SEED (only saw it as it aired) nor did I watch the HD remaster. So the face looks like Freedom to me, but if someone familiar with the design says it's inaccurate, I can certainly understand why they'd be unhappy with it.

We get magazine scans around the 20th every month. Besides next month will be some combination of Gundam Kimaris, Ingram 1, Wryneck or Sirbine, and Neofam. Chose 2 or 3 and you'll probably get pretty close to the next announcements.

Haven't picked up any RDs since the new X-2.

Really disappointed at the accessories that came with it compared to the old one. And then Bandai compounds it with no option pack.

Also frustrated the Titans MK-II was an exclusive, I can't justify those prices.

Might pick up the ANIME Zaku since I'm a sucker for em, though unlike most I would have preferred an F2 or one of the more 'realistic' ones since the old RD Zaku is so derpy.

Big order guy again, this arrived the other day.

Susanowo is okay, but a bit disappointing. It's age shows. But, since I liked Graham, had to get it.

The Falke is nice, but the Codal i is superb.

But the real highlights were Unit 01 and 02. These two are fucking fantastic. The articulation is great. I think I'd rate the Evas now as some of my absolute favorite RDs. And now I'll need to get Units 00 and 03.
Now, why the hell is Bandai not continuing this line? I'd love if they did either more Rebuild Evas like Units 04, 05, 06, 08 and 13, or the TV versions of the Evas. I need more RDs of this quality.

Following there, really like Enryugo. Sculpt is great, and had an easier time setting this up compared to Villkiss. Finally got around to switching to robot mode as well.
Still have yet to watch Cross Ange, but I really love how the RDs for these mecha look.

All, while a little smaller, scale well with the KMF RDs. Those that have RDs like Guren and Lancelot are better as RD, but the ones that don't are acceptable substitutes.

My Leprechaun finally arrived today. About a week and a half longer than SAL usually takes for me.

But SO damn worth it. Loving this pumpkin spice mech. All the joints are so damn solid. Best Aura Battler yet for holding a pose. I can shake the thing and nothing budges. Sleek and awesome, and taller than I expected; taller than the Zwarth.

You should have seen the messages when I tried settling the issue through PayPal (before escalating). I know you liked Villkiss monitor anon, so I'm sure you'll like Enryugo as well. It does have the similar problem of a couple parts can come off a little too easily like the blade on the shoulder, but I'd say its an overall improvement over Villkiss. Got my first Drumlo, also my first non gundam RD. Really impressed with it and really want Todd's to go with it and probably a second normal one. They are so nice and chunky. We'll see how this year's xmas bonus is.

My first (and so far only) RD was Masurao a few years ago. It really upset me for a number of reasons. The joints were floppy and it was prone to parts leprosy as well as feeling really fragile. From what I've heard, the 00 RDs, being really early releases, were prone to QC issues and newer figures are far, far better?

I want to give the line a second chance. I'm eyeing a few Gundam series figures, particularly Turn A and Tallgeese. I might also wait for Barbatos, since that design just gets me a certain kind of way.

I really depends on the figure. 00 7 Swords and the GN-Xes, for example, are very solid despite being early releases. Turn A is great too (though it uses a weird ball joint system) as is the Tallgeese I (which improves on the engineering of II and III).

So yeah, it pays to do your research before buying, watch some youtube videos.

I whole heartedly recommend Tallgeese, Turn A, any of the Leos, the original Wing, and most of all I would especially recommend the Aries. To me the Aries is that great mix of quality, low price, and nice little surprises. It's the sort of thing where you go "oh, wow!" as you fiddle around with it and see all the hidden features. As for any other details, do you have the newer Guren Mk-II RD? The majority of the mold is the same as that one, with the changes, so you can get an idea of to expect from that.

I didn't have many problems with my purple Scepter holding up its big goofy crab arm things. I did reinforce the joints in the arms, from shoulder to elbow, to make sure that it won't have any problems doing so for a nice long time though.

It's not hard, just a bit of clear nail polish on the balls, let dry for a few minutes, reattach joints together. Did the same for the tan Scepter since its shield and minigun are just as cumbersome and heavy.

Well, if you have the old Code Geass KMFs, I can tell you it's an overall improvement over the general Black Knights KMF parts, which the Zangetsu/Akatsuki/Gekka mold had a little trouble standing on their own. Legs are much better.
Overall improvement on everything else.

I like the Code Geass mecha though so I might be a little biased though.

Asking this here because NXEdge Style is still such a small and niche line that it doesn't seem worth its own thread.

Are the stands supposed to suck this fucking bad? As far as I can tell, the stand arm doesn't have any sort of swiveling movement like a standard Tamashii Stage or Figma stand--it's set at hard angles (the peg is an octagon) so you need to wiggle the peg out and reposition it manually every single time you want to adjust the position. Not to mention, they have the same problem as Revolver joints--only a few preset angles you can use. Am I doing something really wrong here, or is the stand supposed to be this inconvenient?

Those stands do their jobs and more . The design is simple and doesn't required more assembly time or screws. And due to the requirements of removing to adjust the angle , it can now support more weight when needed and the adjustments will stay until you want to change them . For a $15 desk toy , these stands are more than enough .

I finally got my hands on this bad boy to complete the set, and it's got the problem where the shoulder fins are super loose and pop off all the time. Is there a fix for this? The Gundam Wing RD line is pretty great across the board, be it grunts like the Leo or character specific suits like the Epyon, it's all good!

RDs have a good solid feel to them that gives them, and because most of their parts are solid plastic they can have a decent weight to them for their size. I don't think you can really compare the quality of RDs to gunpla, because they're two different things. HGs and MGs are model kits and they're very good at that, while RDs are more like action figures and they're very good at that. RDs are ready to play with right out of the box and usually look pretty darn good while doing it, but with gunpla you can make something that looks way better if you're willing to put in the work.

Just two different ways of enjoying mecha. I'd definitely recommend picking up an RD if they've got you interested though, just to see if it's what you're looking for. Master Gundam is only like 30 bucks on Amazon, and you can pick up a Leo for even less.

Tallgeese III was a regular retail release, but it's been out of production for a while and again, may be a bit pricey to get at this time. Thanks, I still need to invest in some risers, as I know that would help in seeing each figure more. I had to make space though to allow some room for my Dunbine and Tod's Drumlo on the shelf above them, so I don't mind this as is for now. I would probably keep this shelf mostly the same but raise Kshatriya and Banshee up a bit to help see them better, and maybe fiddle with the shield funnels to get them out of the way a bit more. Sinanju also desperately needs his own stand.

Love the Rick Dias's sculpt. I had 3 of the HCM Pro ones. Will probably skip the MG in favour of the RD. Now I have to decide between 1/100 Dijeh and RD.

Though I have no intention of getting the RD Hyakushiki as I went for the MG and got the Mass Production one as well.

Hopefully a Dodai Kai will emerge.

Double check how you've got Sinanju's feet positioned, anons, as he's actually quite stable once you've got his feet in the right spot.

Sinanju's feet can move horizontally forward and back, and out of the box both feet are usually all the way forward, which makes balancing the figure on the ground near impossible as this places his feet in front of his center of gravity.

Move the feet all the way back though, and you should have no trouble getting Sinanju to stand on his own two feet.

Supposedly in May of 2016. I'm stalking AmiAmi for the first pre-order. I never got into collecting Macross figures despite my love for the series because of the sheer size and cost of the Arcadia and Yamato stuff. I spent most of my money on Robot Damashii. Then Hi-Metal R relaunched the line and the figure are fully transformable, packed with accessories, really nicely detailed and in a small size meant for tamashii stages. Pretty much everything I love so much about Robot Damashii.

I decided to jump into it with Hikaru's fighter from Do You Remember Love and I think its my favorite figure that I own. The transformation, details, accessories, articulation and features are just incredible for something at this size. I'm in love with these things now.

Around $80 on Nippon Yasan isn't so bad at all. My favorite hidden thing about the VF-1's so far is that the Strike Pack boosters have a bunch of shiny engine details if you remove the panel on the side. That and the little painted pilot figures at this size look so good.

Hi-Metal R is pretty much what you'd get if Tamashii just straight up did Macross mecha as part of Robot Damashii, and still let them transform. They're exactly in that normal Damashii size range and only have a bit of metal in them, mostly in the feet and joints. Its reinforced with diecast so it doesn't just crack in half when you're transforming it.

I'm sure a lot of people remember or have seen the Revoltech Valks that transformed from back in the day and how janky they were/are. The Hi-Metal R stuff is amazingly solid. Everything pegs into place. They also add a ton of accessories.

On my Hikaru VF-1S Strike Valkyrie it came with a bunch of hands in both the puffy anime style and a more modern mechanical one. All the missiles and missile pods are fully painted and detailed. Three sets of wings (clean, hardpoint, shrunk for battroid). All the strike parts some of which are interchangeable if you just want boosters instead of the beam cannon. 3 different antenna's. Landing gear. Vent covers. Its pretty amazing. They're pretty much just deluxe Macross Robot Damashii.

Yeah! The RD General has always welcomed discussion of other mecha toys and I've definitely considered changing up the thread OP a bit to reflect that. My fear is making the OP topic too broad, such that anyone with questions about any kind of mecha toy gets immediately referred to one single general. That's no fun for the board overall and it'd be kind of silly, hehe.

Of course, I know the RD general would be happy to welcome mecha toy fans of all kinds and it's not like the thread is a particularly fast one most of the time, so maybe that's just an irrational concern of mine.

More paint apps, more accessories, vastly improved headsculpt, and best of all the joints are so much tighter and stronger across the board.
