How are the bandai model kit stormtroopers? I just noticed they're about cheap enough that I could pick up 3 or 4 of them, but can they pose well? For reference, the only stormtrooper I've handled is the black series one, which I was very disappointed in.

Have there been customs using the stormtrooper body with a new arm? I was considering replacing the arm if I can't find another stormtrooper with something different, like a cheap marvel legends arm (head too if possible.)

Mainly asking because I am concerned that trying to do this without awareness of the internals would result in a complicated job because of differing shapes for shoulder joints in the upper torso.

Also am interested in potential donors if anyone has ideas.

Yeah, I have to say they did a good job showcasing the personality of the designs. They're a lot like Stormtroopers in a way, army builders but with some charm to them. Even with all the figures I've bought, the ones I photograph most (maybe besides my Shinkis) are my two Black Series storm troopers.

I just cut a toothpic in half and dabbed paint on it then just tapped it against the places I need to paint. Since the buttons and switches are raised, I just tapped the toothpick to them and it was really easy, and you don't have to worry as much for not being steady enough or something

You're grasping at straws at this point. Ren has much better articulation that the troopers. While the joints are overall the same, the joints of the troopers are all around cut off and hindered. Their elbows can't even go 90 degrees, and only get worse in other trooper models, like the riot control trooper. Ren doesn't have those same hindrances.

Can someone help me identify this figure I found in my collection? I can't get a picture at the moment since my phone's kill and I don't have a camera, but it's a really old, cheap-looking Chewbacca figure with a really strange paintjob. Instead of being brown, he's maroon and gray all over. He looks really bulky and only has 5 POA, like something from the Power of the Force line except it's not. He comes with 1 or 2 different guns, neither of which is his bowcaster, and they're both really badly molded and have no paintjob at all. Does anyone know what figure I'm on about? Could it be a bootleg of some sort?

They've already said the line isn't "viable" anymore, they don't want to invest in it. You really think making the line a store exclusive was Hasbro doing us a solid? Hardly. It was planned from the start of this 5POA mess. You can listen to interviews from Toy Fair and SDCC and how they talk about the line.

After three or four lines with fantastic articulation, accessories, paint, details, etc, they released the Retaliation line which featured cut articulation points, a bunch of accessories removed, and sneaking in a few 5 PoA figures in with vehicles.

Eventually, the Retaliation line started to evaporate at all retailers and GI Joe became a TRU exclusive.

It now remains there, getting a pitiful release in the 50th Anniversary line, which is nothing more than a handful of repaints and repackages, with no new figures in sight.

I just don't understand who designed the arms, and why they designed them the way they did on the FO trooper.

Someone else pointed out, in a previous thread, by why is the hinge cut offset on the lower part of the arm? It should be centered in the black area on the forearm instead off off to the side.

Because of it being offset, it causes the white armor parts of the forearm and the upper arm to hit each other which is why it doesn't really move a whole lot.

Doesn't make a lot of sense why they would design it that way, when just moving the hinge over just a hair would have given a better bend.
