4-pack Edition

Old thread: >>5260491
>>
What stormtrooper has the best articulation?
>>
>>5274086
Figuarts or Revoltech.
>>
>>5274086
>>5274096
Definitely Revoltech. Figuarts has shitty hips.
>>
>>5274080
What 3.75 Black Series Vader is better, 03, 06 or 26?
Is there not a 3.75 BS Boba Fett?
Is there gonna be a 3.75 BS for the new episode?
Are 3.75 BS Jawas cool? They seem fucking cool.
>>
>>5274080
That pack is utterly infuriating in so many ways. Ah well...nothing I HAD to have anyway.
>>
>>5274110
26 is more prequel accurate, while 06 is more OG trilogy accurate. Depends on which design you like more. The two Vintage collection Bobas are okay, nothing better than those atm. Force Awakens 3.75 inch are coming, will be Wal-Mart exclusive. No word on Jawas.
>>
>>5274080
I *almost* got that set, as they were gonna be my first SWB figures. Then I stumbled upon a cheap Speeder Scout w/ bike set, and just hunted down three other troopers with better accessories and some unique parts that ended up being cheaper overall.

Still want to grab some First Order figures though, but I'm waiting until I can find a Phasma for a decent price before building a squad of em.
>>
>>5274115
I have very slight interest in all four figures. Was really hoping it wouldn't sell and go on sale in the next few weeks, but it's sold the fuck out. I'll probably get the EE set instead.
>>
>>5274123
thanks.
>>
>>5273990
I don't go to Targets very often these days. But the ones I do go to seem to be pretty barren when it comes to toys.
>>
>>5274134
>>5274115
Where was it?
>>
>>5274248
Amazon Exclusive
>>
Quick question, I'm thinking about getting the 3.75 Dagobah Visions Darth Vader and gluing the mask on it's face as I do not intend to use it as a Luke figure.

How well can I do it?
>>
>>5274291
You can get another one of the thousands of Vader figures and not waste your time.

Possible spoiler? Poe aka Finn is a shape shifter?
>>
HasbroToyShop has the Black Series FX lightsabers in stock, including Luke's.
>>
>>5274295

I can only find this one in my country...
>>
>>5274309

or that coat is just a standard issue?
>>
>>5274309
Poe dies and passes his coat on to Finn.
>>
>>5274309
>>5274316

Finn steals Poe's jacket after the TIE fighter crashes on Jakku (Finn rescues Poe on the Star Destroyer then hijack a TIE fighter).
>>
>Though largely self-taught, Luke Skywalker became a legendary master of the lightsaber, and imparted his skills to the generation of Jedi that followed him

Meaningless product blurb, or hint at what's to come?
>>
>>5274080
Why is the Stormtrooper spotty?
>>
>>5274583
Hasbro's shitty excuse for battle damage I guess
>>
Just got the snowtrooper from toys r us, the legs joints are extremely stiff, to the point of feeling like a ratchet, and on one side of one of the legs the peg came out. Haven't had issues with any other figures like this, pretty dissapointed.
>>
>>5274309
You know those are both unique sculpts, right?
>>
>>5274648
Had the same issue with my Phasma. Took forever to get back together properly. Just heat the leg and push the peg through with anything you can find, but don't push it through so far that it goes through the other side.
>>
>>5274110
26 (Orange packaging) has the most articulation, it is jointed like a GI Joe. However, it's infamous for having head and torso joints that pop out easily.

#03 (Blue packaging) is a repack of the above #26 that supposedly have "fixed" these issues.
>>
>>5274712
>#03 (Blue packaging) is a repack of the above #26 that supposedly have "fixed" these issues.

They did. I bought the fixed version after finding it at Target. It's not 100% perfect, but it's sooooo much better now.
>>
Can someone tell me why the hell Hasbro decided to stock thousands of 3.75 inch Lukes, Vaders, and Chewies in every Wal-Mart? Those are never gonna move and will prevent the other figures from coming in.
>>
>>5274723

Because the Black Series 3 inch line costs them unnecessary amount of profit money to produce. IF they can kill it off finally, they can shovel out the 5POA stuff and call it good with little pushback. They can just say "Well we tried! You just didn't buy them!"
>>
>>5274723
Because that's what Walmart ordered.
>>
i just don't understand why they don't pump out more black series figures, they sell out instantly, meanwhile all of the 5 poa and other absolute trash merch just sits there on the shelves and doesn't sell at all.
>>
>>5274738
Yeah, i just don't understand why they don't pump out more Kylo Ren figures, they sell out instantly, meanwhile all of the 5 other characters and that one absolute trash character just sits there on the shelves and doesn't sell at all.
>>
>>5274749
right? They should flood the market with Phasmas so scalpers can't make shit off our stormtrooper waifu overlord
>>
>>5274712
>>5274720
Thanks, then I guess I'll get 03.
>>
>>5274754

Have you lived through any of the prequels? Every toy from the first few months is going to be overproduced to hell and become worthless.

Not exactly toy-related, but what exactly is the purpose of the Imperial Shocktrooper? Are they just elite Stormies?
>>
>>5275386
they're only slightly tougher AI troopers that show up in the terrible horde mode.
>>
>>5274080
I assume the first order trooper in this pack doesn't have improved arm articulation?
>>
>>5275405
Lolno
>>
>>5275367
What a waste. Could have been Battlefront Pre-order incentive.
Black Series is almost desperate for a rare figure at this point.
>>
>>5274080
Are they going to make that Phase 2 Clone separate eventually?
>>
>>5274309
It's probably just the general Resistance jacket. Poe probably gave him one and kind of adopted him in after he quit being a stormtrooper.

Or Finn stole it.
>>
Does all of the Black Series First Order have shitty articulation? I got my snowtrooper, and Phasma on the way.

Ren seems to be the best of them.
>>
>>5275593
It wouldn't be surprising.
>>5275607

>Or Finn stole it.

Finn steals it. Again, Finn rescues Poe, they steal a TIE, the TIE gets shot down and crashes on Jakku, Finn takes the jacket cause Poe ejects or gets thrown or some contrived bullshit.
>>
>>5274309
I like the fact that they didn't just do the same body mold with different paint.
>>

The very same. Articulation's about as good as every other figure in the line recently, not sure what all the fuss was about. I will say, the knee joints are very gummy, which is an issue.
>>
>>5275744
Ab crunch looks like it would be hampered a good bit by the stuff around the stomach - maybe that's part of the issue?
>>
>>5275763
That doesn't hinder much at all actually. The hips and torso joints are just sculpted very close together, there's not a lot of room for them to move around.

>>

Pop the forearm off
Cut off most of the black socket from the upper arm, concentrating around the front of the arm
Repaint black
Done

I still have to paint mine, but that okay because I just got the riot gear trooper and need to do all of the mods to it. (And it's worth noting that every paint app of the riot trooper and its accessories is subject to being done wrong. Even the gray paint on the shield tends to be off center.)

Palpatine is a strange figure. The robe is OK, but not great. It's a little too thick to hang right--and that's about how all of the BS soft goods are. The arms also have double-jointed elbows, even for being as thin as they are, which is the only instance of this on a non-Trooper in the BS that I'm aware of. This makes Sheev one of the more poseable figures in the BS line, and begs the question of why more thin characters in either BS or ML don't have double-jointed elbows.
>>
>>5278906
Yoda actually does too, believe it or not. Weird how that worked out.

I'm really tempted to great pic related. I didn't care for the Figuarts, mainly because I felt the articulation was subpar.
>>
>>5279013
The articulation's about the same between Mafex and Figuarts, but size of Mafex is better in comparison to Figuarts Luke.
>>
>>5279020
The size of Figuarts Vader is worse in comparison to everything else.
Why can't we have one really good Vader?
>>
>>5278906
Probably an aesthetic choice, knowing that they can hide the joint under the robes so it doesn’t hurt the sculpt.
>>
>>5278906
I'd probably use him as a "Robot Chicken" Emperor more than the actual Emperor.
>>

Got this revell TIE two days ago and I'm pretty happy.

Probably the best TIE fighter model there is (the best proportioned)

It doesnt feel like a plastic kit. It feels more like old Action Fleet.

Solid and with hard plastic. Very accurate.

The only flaws are a black rear windshield and the lack of bellty turret (something pretty important imo)
>>
>>5279415

I've heard that the plastic quality on these is really nice. I have the Disney Store ties and the sculpt/proportions seem great compared to some of the smaller ones, but I think I'll check out the Revell. The XWing kits look nice, too, shame about the lasers being rotated 90 degrees.

They come in the fat boxes. I am really pleased, save for that ugly detail (no belly turret)

I'll definately check other ships, although so far I only really like the TIEs. Maybe if they make a star destroyer...

The rest look underwhelmingly small though
>>
>>5279005
Me again, returned him with no problems.
>>
>>5279415
Is the size comparable to Action Fleet too or just the feel?
>>
>>5274723

You seem to not understand how stores work. Companies don't just send whatever products they want in whatever quantities they want, the store decides what to order and how much. Blame Wal-mart, maybe get in touch with the manager in charge of ordering toys at your local store and see if you can influence them towards not sucking.
>>
What are the spikes on the front of Boba Fett's boots for? Kicking people?
>>
>>5279569
Climbing out of ancient sand monsters.
>>
>>5279557

Bigger than Action fleet, just similar in feel and solidity.

I guess this feels like a toy rather than a plastic model (in a good way)

>thin characters
I guess I did mainly mean women. I was looking at Palpatine and the rest of my Hasbro stuff, and the female MLs and Sheev were the only ones whose arms were close to the same diameter.
>>
>>5280132
Shit, I over looked "thin"

But I guess Hasbro is a bit frightened to do it because while it adds more articulation, double jointed elbows on ML women never usually turn out well.
But what's even odder is that they have done it before in a smaller scale.

I also do wish that Black Series figures used double jointed elbows, especially Jedi.

The only people that buys toys at full MSRP are usually the stray kids pleading their parents. There are many ways for collectors to get them at cheaper.
>20% discount sales in department stores that happen ALMOST every weekend

>Amazon has free shipping to SG for orders over USD 125
>Cross a bridge and head to Malaysia where the MSRP is 10% cheaper by default.
>Wait for clearance sales within a year. However, SG clearance price = US msrp.

To put it into perspective, the MSRP of Hasbro transformers is approximately the same price that the Takara equivalent is being offered here.

>>
finn's gonna be the breakout character and his figure will be scalped to hell and back once the movie is out
>>
>>5281389
They had to fucking rebuild the old sets, it is not a reuse, it was remade that way, and besides, with how classic the xwing is, it is rather logical they would upgrade the xwing rather than replace it with a wild departure, especially wince the b wing is now older than luke by showing up in rebels, so what, a fleet of the a wings? Those things are just too fast and small to be controlled by any but the most skilled, and you hated the jedi fighters, so clearly they would need to be something different, what would you sugest? O wings?

>>
If they would just gave Finn a lightsaber he would be an insta-buy, and could face off with Kylo. Good figure, but his blaster is lame.

Option 2, just slip his head sculpt in for an Unmasked trooper. Good excuse to buy more troopers.
>>
>>5282210

Trooper Finn would have been the better "first version" of Finn. Don't like Dindu? You got a spare trooper.
>>
>>5282210

He's not the one the lightsaber belongs to, so no, there was no reason to give him the saber. It's just Luke's saber anyway, you can steal it from any other Bespin Luke.
>>
>>5282070
>They had to fucking rebuild the old sets, it is not a reuse

You're a moron. It's reusing the same design, not the literal fucking prop you dumbshit. And that kind of thinking "Oh no, don't stray too far from what I'm comfortable with!!" is exactly why this movie will suck. Because of people like you and JJ Abrams that can't get your dicks out of the OT's ass long enough to seek something new and interesting.
>>
>>5282326
you said it's the same prop, I corrected you, now you're on my side saying that the new x-wing is better than using the classic x-wings.

I'd agree if this was ep IIX, but it's not, we should see some more recent ships like say, K-wings, or something, heck, hot rod clone wars ships for a pirate fleet, we need more variety than mere classic Xwings and h-wing ties, but it's understandable why they'd use them for the first movie, (the x-wings having a split mono-wing instead of two wings forming one like they used to is a nice touch aside from merely half-scoop engines and balldroids, and the TIEs are a basic enough design that it's ok as a "cranked out to make a massive fleet in only a few years" with minor upgrades, but we really do need more unique ships in the next movies, not reuses or ungraded classics, (though pirates and gangs can use modded clone wars ships and get away with it for being both homage to the "uglies" and tying the trilogies together visually rather than just discarding all clone wars tech like we do 70's computers.
>>
>>5282337
>you said it's the same prop, I corrected you, now you're on my side saying that the new x-wing is better than using the classic x-wings.

I never once said it was the same prop you fucktard. It's the same EXACT design because marketing is too afraid to get away from the OT. Fuck off to /tv/ JJ shill.
>>
>>5280896
are you serious? ive been looking for a simple fucking stormtrooper for weeks now and all ive found is fucking finn and chewbacca
>>
>>5280896
Why are they all looking over there?
>>
>>5282337
Not the previous anon, but he's kind of right. There's too much pandering in this movie so far. For fuck's sake, there's another Death Star-esque superweapon. I get that it's 30 years after RotJ so weapon and ship designs won't drastically change, but it feels like TFA will just try to mimic ANH, which in my opinion, was the lamest of the OT. I guess I may just be sick of X-Wings and TIE Fighters. If you saw the newest TV spot, you'll see what looks like another trench run at the end.

Also Clone Wars designs were best designs so I would like to see them incorporated in one way or another like you said.

>>5282480
>"Look, Rebels!"
I saw two at my walmart packaged like that too. Are these supposed to be the ones with fixed arm articulation?
>>
>>5282486

Not that guy, but every one of the FO Stormtroopers I've seen have been packaged with their heads rotated like that. I just figured it was how they were, like maybe the plastic insert for their head didn't quite accommodate it to be straight forward or something.
>>
>>5282486
>Are these supposed to be the ones with fixed arm articulation?
Did they fix the arm articulation on a new wave? I haven't heard about that
>>
>>5282556

No? Phasma and the Snowtrooper don't have the fucked joints the FO Trooper has, for some reason, but the figure is still the same with every release as far as I've heard.

>>
>>5282593
I had read before on one of these threads that the FO trooper was released later with fixed elbows, maybe they were wrong or I read it incorrectly.
>>
>>5282337

Why should we see new designs? It hasn't been that long when you consider we're talking about military hardware and on a very large scale.

The "new" Star Destroyer looks like shit too.
>>
>>5282210
Actually yeah, I would think if they gave Finn the lightsaber, I probably would have bought him. It'd be cool to replicant that shot from the trailer of him scared shitless facing off against Ren.

>>5282325
Except he's clearly seen holding it in the trailer, so he does use it. Just because it isn't his doesn't mean he doesn't have to include the accessory. BB-8 belongs to Poe and yet he comes with Rey.
>>
>>5282730

But that's still not a reason to sell it with him. Especially considering the lack of interest with the character.
>>
>>5282734
Hasbro will use any excuse to release a variant of a character, whether it's 'battle damage' or a wardrobe/accessory change.
I guarantee they released his most boring variant first to capitalize on "only version of him available so I gotta buy it" collectors, and it's also spoiler-free. Rest assured that cooler Finns will be coming out.

>>5283280
>Right, our military hardware is still the same ones we used in the 80s! Nothing new, nothing rebuilt!

Umm anon, a lot of it is.

When I went through basic training and AIT in 2007 we were being issued refurbished M16A1s that were purple mixed in with old A2s, using ALICE gear, and wearing PASGT helmets.

And then my unit had the same thing.

And I saw plenty of other units with guys getting issued M16A2s while I was in Iraq.

And pretty much all of the ground vehicles are just upgraded versions of vehicles put in service in the late 70's to early 80's like the M113, the HMMWV, the Abrams (entered service in 1979) etc.
>>
>>5285985

Way to shift the argument.

Point is that we're constantly seeing brand new designs every decade and is constantly seen front and center.

The fact you never saw or used newer equipment is probably the fact that the marines are shit and mostly use old shit the army doesn't use anymore.

>Point is that we're constantly seeing brand new designs every decade and is constantly seen front and center.

Yes. But they aren't adopted as soon as you see them. And the weapons systems they replace have a shelf life measured in decades.

The A-10 is very likely going to continue flying missions for the next decade or two.

Just because a defense contractor puts up a design for a contract doesn't mean it's going to be adopted right away, nor does it negate the fact that current weapons systems, if they aren't literally platforms that entered service decades ago, are incremental upgrades on that same platform.

Sounds like lying if you didn't see new equipment.

>Yes. But they aren't adopted as soon as you see them.
dem low standards for marines am showing.
Shit like this started development in the 80s, got tested in the 00s, and started being put to actual use in the late 00s. Same shit with most military equipment.
In other words, right now there's equipment being made that we won't see until 10-20 years from now.
They're constantly making new equipment that will phase out old equipment.

It'd be cool if Vader had a special flight helmet

has anyone ever tried painting captain phasma?

I wonder when this'll get an actual release online or in retail

Which means it's totally acceptable that there are only upgraded X-Wings and TIEs in active use thirty years from the end of the GCW.

Like i said, i'm ok with reusing old art and making the "new" ships look like the old ones, since the Star Wars universe is very stagnant when it comes to technology.
Practically everything they use has been around for hundreds and even thousands of years with almost no improvements.

That said, most of what we see on screen is going on between the elite units and if it were anything like real life, they'd be using the most brand new equipment.
only retards and marines use the old shit, and i don't think we ever saw a normal Imperial soldier in the SW movies.

Help me out guys with 2 questions, first is about mister burn victum here, the other is about his slave daughter.

So last week I saw a single black series slave leia, with all the bullshit about people hating on slave leia, is it...worth it in anyway, just to re-sell later on, or the fact it was pretty shit quality kill it in anyform?

As for Darth Vader...what is the best action figure, I got the figurarts but the whole cape to one side thing kinda bugs me, the maefx's head just...looks strange in proportion, the black series in both larger and smaller forms just look so cheap and we all know the deal with the bandai model kit now (plus I really didn't want to work on a model kit seeing how my backlog of actual models is fuck huge).

Otherwise I'll stick to my play arts kai vader despite his fuck huge size and the fact he isn't "movie" vader, or even just get the metcolle figure just to stand around, I got an old candy topper vader sitting around but I just wanted to upgrade from shit I've had since I was 10
>>
>>5287453
I personally wouldn't bother with Slave Leia, but that's just because I have no interest in reselling figures of any kind.

And what Vader? Personally, I'm wanting to go for the Mafex but I can see why you don't. It's a pick your poison kind of deal, sadly. We don't have the perfect Vader, just ones that have their positives and negatives.
The Mafex is skinny, the Revoltech has a flunky cape and is stylized so that might not be your thing, the Figuarts is too short, the model kit requires building and painting not to mention a really hard cape, and the Black Series looks sad and the cloth is bad.

You just have to go for the one that has flaws that don't bother you as much as the other ones.
>>
>>5287487
Damn, so the perfect vader still doesn't exist yet...

Thanks for the input

Nope, I'm sure we'll see reissues and such down the line because it's Darth Vader but as of right now nothing's perfect.

Like I said, I'm just going for the Mafex or maybe the Revoltech because those hold the most positives for me. Oh well.

Different anon here, is the LEGO Vader a good figure? I know it's huge compared to the others, so I'm asking about its own merits.
>>
>>5287516
I haven't exactly heard much about it and I don't have much experience with LEGO builds quite like it but it looks fine from my standpoint.

I do hear excellent things about Grievous, though.

>Sounds like lying if you didn't see new equipment.

I didn't say I didn't see new equipment. I said that a lot of what is used is either literally platforms introduced 30+ years ago, or incremental upgrades of those platforms.

I even stated that I saw newer systems like the MRAPs (even rode in them), and the Stryker (only ever saw one in person).

But for every MRAP and Styker I saw ten HMMWVs and M113s or Bradleys.

>They're constantly making new equipment that will phase out old equipment.

Equipment that is currently being used and entered service decades ago.

Which was my original point.

Lol.

Person never in the military detected. Just fuck off with the way you think things are. Your Cowadooty and Arma 3 aren't real life nigga.

So the Shock Troopers have been spotted. Time to go hunting again

I live over 20 miles away from the nearest walmart. Such is the life living in a smallish town.

Will they be released on their website?

Fuck, they're already swarming ebay for upwards of 40 bucks
>>

Already had a scalper ask me to scan the UPC to see if we had any in stock, faggots can't wait to get their greedy mits on em.
>>
>>5287633
The point remains that we SHOULD be seeing new equipment, because that's how it usually works.
Yes, stuff is slowly shifted out of use, but we're talking about how stuff is generally made, released, and by whom (elite units of the military).

Again, i have no problem with reusing old designs like how they've released new models of Bradleys, Abrams, and Hornets, because the Star Wars universe's technology hasn't improved much in thousands of years.
>>
>>5288373

Technological stasis. Once you reach a certain level there's not much farther to go. Innovation plateaus.

Or there's the "a wizard did it" explanation. Like Game of Thrones, where tech has remained the same for thousands of years.
>>
>>5287453
I prefer the bandai kit myself. its got the best head of the bunch and scales good with the black series. the cape sucks but I swapped out the bs vader's for the plastic one. works good imo.
>>
Got my two Shock Troopers, they're apparently showing up in a case of 6 to a small amount of stores.
>>
>>5288405
Actually, tech had improved in A Game of Thrones.
They started using steel and the Maesters were expanding their knowledge with SCIENCE!... medieval science, but newfound science nonethless.

Of course, magic was the ruling factor before the Dragon Kings came over the sea, or rather, the ruin of the dragon kingdom whose name i forget. So it's no wonder they didn't give a shit about science/technology and were happy with what little science knowledge they knew.

Star Wars is totally stagnant though. Their use of technology is basically based on their means (republic not needing an army and weapons until they needed it) and money.
