I'd personally change the 2 longs on the sword handle and in the legs to black. I like the red ones in the staff. The rest is great. Other than the fire sword (which can be swapped for black), I think all of that could be made using existing parts. I love the end of that staff.

This was my intention somewhat, as I tried to do this in normal LDD. But then I said fuck it and went back to Extended, since it's a lot easier to use colored parts. But yeah, I think the most most dificuly thing would be the trans-orange glatorian head, which in normal LDD does not appear, but I haven't checked if it exists IRL

Got a self-moc too. Not to sure myself what self-moc generally means, but I know what it means for me. When I started to get into Bionicle, I knew that I wanted to have at least one moc to tell a story about. So I took one of my favourite elements, altered the colour scheme a bit (sonics, gunmetal instead of dark grey, also dark blue accents), took my favourite Kanohi and developed a character that has influences of my own rl character.

I was really eager to get the Skeletons for all the great pieces to use for my team of villains but I after getting Warrior I realized I don't have much use for them aside from the weapons and the chest armor. The ribcage torso looks too wide for most characters I need to use it for and the new add-on looks weird for the most part. The skull mask I have looks awesome, though I haven't found a use for it yet.

Maybe I should just grab the pieces I need from Bricklink. I definitely need to get Ekimu and Kulta, though.

Working on this Tahu revamp.

My other revamps have a bunch of little features (gali has a tiny drone, serrated dagger, classic hooks on holdout, etc), but I dont really know what little features to give tahu. He's just some swoll guy with swords.

My girlfriend suggested a welders mask. I really want to do that, but I'm having a lot of troubles getting one made. Anybody ever made a welders mask or goggles that could fit over tahu's fatass mask? Even if it's connected to his back or shoulders

The 2005 playsets I thought were pretty decent as far as structures go, but the figures for that year were dogshit. 2006 was a step up for figures but the sets were shit. 2007 had TTC as literally the only good one, though I personally dislike vehicle system sets so overall that year was a miss in terms of playsets. I feel like replacing them with vehicles in 2008 was the right idea since those were compatible with the figures, though in a perfect world I would have preffered giant rahi.

The titans were okay. Everything else was pretty shit, clone sets with awkwardly wide and flat torsos, it was also the year they dropped gear functions. Plus the Inika masks weren't compatible with any other head piece and the Inika head piece was literally the worst bionicle piece.

2004 had some of the best designed sets, even if the new colors made them really bland. 2001 is a subjective favorite of mine just because of the variety of sets and the fact that it had big monster sets, which I have a softspot for.

Yeah I noticed it comes with a fuck ton of those balljoint pieces you can add on to the bones. I might consider investing it as a bag of parts at least and find some way to integrate the spider legs on to my moc. 50/50 on changing the core hunter head to something else. Lego only needs to keep churning out the same mediocre city sets every year and it keeps afols happy. The only good system sets nowadays are the SW UCS sets, and the modular buildings, but those barely ever come out. I welcomed LotR at first as a nice stand-in for castle, providing a similar type of thing, but then the hobbit movie ruined that by being a setpiece-fest rather than having any well-designed locations, lego had to make the movie-tie in sets which are pretty much all mediocre, and we will probably never see any other LotR licensed sets anymore.

Being a Bonkle fan I know this is a bit of a hypocritical thing to say, but I feel like if the founder of lego saw what it was today, he would feel pretty sick.

If he had been around at Bionicle's inception things would probably have stayed pretty similar to how they were 2001-2003, perhaps a bit more lighthearted, but it definitely would never have gone the 2006 route, blasters would never have been allowed to be a thing. We also would have gotten almost no 'human enemies' and probably more things along the lines of the Rahi / Bohrok, where you make them friendly rather than killing them.

No, I want goddamn lego castle, my favorite lego system sets are always buildings, specifically castles, I can get the most play value out of them, and the cleanest experience when it comes to taking apart and putting together the sets in new ways. Tank Castle isnt too bad, I dont like the pieces used for the towers, and its not as good as a solid standard castle, but its fine (I would have preferred if it was a stationary castle with high-tech defenses, but I guess unlike me every single kid likes vehicle sets so whatever). The vehicles that come with it though are so disgustingly badly designed and I would have rathered they put those parts into making the back of the castle a bit less shitty.

I got the rit DYE MORE, and the feet had the worst time soaking in the dye after multiple attempts. To make matters worse I think I overheated the gear box so it got a bit distorted and made it VERY HARD to slot in axels. I ended up doing multiple water boilings to make the axels try and fit through the holes.

I should have just spraypainted the damn thing... I might go bricklink replacement parts later.

Basically all that's different are the thighs were reworked to be better looking and sturdier, and his lower legs were clouded properly.

Thanks! Actually, I took a photo of a head from the side, drew the wireframe on it and then built it in blender while measuring the irl piece with a ruler. Good thing it's a simple shape. Things that are diagonal in more than two axis are impossible for me. And don't worry about the face. I'll revisit it later. I'm thinking about making it animation-styled so as to support a texture mouth for expressions (kinda like Robot Chicken). But since the head will be covered by a mask anyway, there's no real need.
I'm also thinking about modeling the unreleased head, or something based on it.

On the subject of polies, I try to learn modeling by studying meshes from C&C, Worldshift and Starcraft 2 and I'm pretty confused about what details I should model, texture or ignore. There's also the issue that I don't know what platform I should model for (pc game mod, unity pc game, android app etc) or if what I'm making will even be used by anyone at all.

I, on the other hand, am monumentally motivated to mess with others. If I had the skill, I'd model a supermodel-shaped Gali and a slutty Korgot with purple crystal (amethyst?) stripper shoes just to see the BZP/FB sjws screech in rage.
I'd also create fake leaks about cancelled G1 games. For example, a MoL-style Metru game that was cancelled because the LoMN movie needed extra funding.
In fact, I have a few assets from various games lying around that could be used to fake a cut level from the original bonkle game.

I'd also use my hypothetical skills to model non-bonkle stuff like the ABC Warriors, or this here goddess.
