Bullshit D23 Exclusives Edition

>Jasmine (Slave Outfit) LE 500
>Leia LE 300
>Elsa&Hans Designer Villain LE (unknown edition size)
>Once Upon a Time Regina&Snow LE 300
>Designer Minnie LE (unknown edition size)

but thank god all but one of the 37829343 newly announced Frozen dolls have an edition size of over 2000!

Why is this Snow-White brown-skinned ?

It's pant-on-the head retarded.

They should have used Vanessa and not Ursula for the designer doll

They used Ursula so that people would stop complaining about that weird skinny designer Ursula from the villain line

Designer Minnie is LE 400.

I feel like Disney finally just shrugged their shoulders and collectively decided to slap collectors in the face at this point. First the LE Jasmine, which should have been just as detailed and promoted as LE Aurora & all the others, is given the shaft in both departments--only for them to turn around and make a much more appropriately detailed red/'slave' Jasmine that's D23 exclusive and LE 500. Now they release doll after doll that's very limited D23 exclusive when normally there's 1 D23 exclusive doll.

Aren't they over saturating the market with all these LE dolls. There are just so many of them. How did they go from one to four characters per year to all this?
>>
>>5101088
They definitely are... and have been for a while but this is reaching new heights of ridiculousness.

The Designer Couples series from last year didn't sell very well. I actually saw a few of them at the Disney Store Outlet at a marked down price last week.

I don't understand why we now have FOUR new Frozen LEs (with only one possibly having a low edition number) when the last batch of LE Frozen dolls did not sell very well, and don't sell for very much on the secondary market. Disney just had to have a shelf-clearing Frozen sale to get the cheaper Classic Frozen dolls off the market.

So why oh why are they releasing all these dolls.
>>
Designer Elsa and Hans: $129.95
Designer Snow White and Hag: $129.95
Designer Ariel and Ursula: $129.95
Designer Rapunzel and Mother Gothel: $129.95
Designer Peter Pan and Hook: $129.95
17″ Aladdin: $119.95
17″ Jafar: $119.95
Designer Anna and Kristoff: $129.95
17″ Frozen Fever Elsa: $119.95
17″ Frozen Fever Anna: $119.95

And that's not including the D33 exclusives.

Welp. There's no chance of anyone outside the event getting Red Jasmine. Someone posted a video of the line to get her, and people have been lined up since 5 pm YESTERDAY.

Disney Store will be releasing a Cinderella live action combo pack. Probably in time for the blu-ray release.

I'm excited about the stepsisters and the new oufit for Lady Tremaine, but bleh bleh bleh at them just using ballgown Cinderella+Prince and the fairy godmother. Why not make a Cinderella in her mother's pink dress, and the prince in an outfit they didn't make before?

There just fucking Disney dolls not children.
Disney really should just "let it go". If there security is such shit that they didn't see or notice someone taking not one but a bunch of dolls out of their building maybe they should just cut their losses and up their security. Sending pigs to peoples door steps over a fucking Little Mermaid doll is shameful and low even if they were prototype.

Way to spend our tax dolls Disney.

How about when they give Barbie knee joints again.

A $10 disney doll has elbow, wrist, knee, and even ankle joints.

I bought a $20 bedroom Barbie set last month (which I ended up returning) The bed was as cheap as can be with a tiny bit of cheap hard cloth as her bed sheets. The doll it self was made of hard plastic including her legs. They weren't even the rubbery legs that have the joint inside that allows you to bend them.

Also new 2015 BRATZ doll thread when ?

We had about 5 Barbie generals in a row earlier this year. Just depends on what people are around and how much news is coming out. Disney announced a bunch of dolls so these threads have more news than Barbie as well.

Not in Disney Stores in the US there isn't. I live about an hour away from Walt Disney world and in the past 16 years I've never seen them sell Disney doll clothing on their own. Sometimes they'll sell a pricy doll with extra clothing in the box but never a box set with clothing for the dolls. They just don't sell that separately here.

Yes, they do. The Disney Store (both the Disney Parks stores and the stores not connected to the parks) has periodically released fashion packs for the princesses for several years and sold them in US stores. Now AFAIK they haven't released any new fashion packs since Frozen came out, but they have and do release them.

Although in any case I'm pretty sure >>5142451 was talking about the 2015 pack with Jafar, Aladdin, Genie, Jasmine in green, Rajah, Abu, and the pruple dress + red outfit.
>>
>>5144473
Never said it was a fashion pack (though, yeah, Disney did in fact do that at the stores). >>5144538 is right, I meant the big full cast set. I know its not the greatest option but it does exist if you want a new Jasmine.

Though I do remember having a lot of Mattel-made Jasmine dolls with a big variety of outfits from the 90s. Had the purple and green outfits, a wedding outfit I think, a holo-fabric bathing suit for some reason? and probably a lot of others. I know they sold individual outfit sets for other Disney characters so it would seem very weird if they didn't for Jasmine at some point. I know I got some outfits specifically made for Ariel, Esmeralda, Cinderella, and I think Pocahontas too.

I feel like I'm in the minority with this but

I think it's great that Disney Store is now doing raffles for the chance to buy LE dolls at physical stores instead of first-come, first-serve. First-come first-serve, at least in my experience, always led to people running through the mall, shoving past each other, eventual rule breaking (aka 'mall says you can't line up before 9 am but this one security guard decided to let people line up starting at 7 am') etc etc. With the raffles it's get there at a certain time, put your name in, there y'go.
>>
>>5149343
Yup, raffles are the way to go. Volks (big name Japanese doll company) has been doing it this way for years. It's way more efficient than first come, first serve.

I wonder if they're going back to it being a store-by-store decision due to the unpredictable sales. I remember when we did raffles for the Designer Couples, it was a corporate decision for all the stores to raffle> But most of the days we didn't even have enough people sign up to bother with the raffle (though we did anyway for management reasons) but then for the latest batch of Frozen LEs we had to get security to help us make a line.

The only painful thing the disney store does that no other mall store does in the morning is the book lighting ceremony to let you into the store. They basically force a shy child to say a bunch of "Magic Words" over and over again while wearing a Mickey hat and cap before lighting a book in order to let you in the store.

Last time the kids didn't even wanna play along. They just wanted to be let into the store (so did all the other adults waiting to go in) The manager finally ended up ordering one of their lower hand rag "cast members" to put on the silly Mickey hat and say the magic words herself before lighting up a fake light up book and letting people into the store. The only thing the cast member wouldn't ( because I guess she just felt to retarded doing so) was put on the Mickey red cap to say the magic words along with the blue magic hat.

>EVERY MORNING
>EVERY FUCKING MORNING

JUST LET US INTO THE STORE!
THERE'S NOT SUCH THING AS "THE MAGIC"

IF I DON'T HAVE $130 TO PAY FOR YOUR HIGH PRICED DOLLS YOU WOULDN'T LET ME HAVE ONE BECAUSE OF "THE MAGIC" WOULD YOU ?

IT'S ABOUT HARD COLD CASH.
JUST Cut the Crap and open the store like all the other mall stores do!

Nice. One thing to consider about dolls with awful hair is that it's usually 99.9% fixable if it's not kanekalon and it's never been force-brushed by a hamhanded kid. A kid ripping it up with a hairbrush is what destroys it forever.

Why spend money fixing a site when there's a truck load of fans eating out of your hands who are willing to put up with anything. If you don't buy it a hundred other Disney fanatic zombi fans will. The dolls will get sold and they will get paid either way.

Why should they care about your shopping experience.

Almost all the Film Collection dolls are really nice, with the exception of the face problem that plagues the line. At least with this character her features are supposed to be exaggerated and ugly so it doesn't really stand out
>>
So there's a rumor that they will be releasing a "Platinum" Aladdin Doll set with Aladdin and Jasmine that they'll sell for $750. So I imagine that will be kind of like the $500 LE Cinderella that was pretty much the 11 inch doll with some rhinestones.

Limited Edition Kairi doll around Kingdom Hearts 3's release when?

Maybe even an Aqua doll?
>>
>>5100760

I went to the Disney Store today and saw all the sets in person on display. I could even hold each one in my hand.

I have to say that the one I wanted the most which was Snow White and the Hag were a big let down in person.

The hag has her white hair tied up in two see thru pony tails which makes it look odd / wired.
Her outfit isn't as impressive as it looked like in the online photos . Snow white looked kinda dull. The paint apps used for the face just didn't live up to the online photos and while her dress is nice her top was sooo dull and simple .

The best part of it all was the hags awesome looking face.
>>
>>5174709
Did they even make a Kairi figure? I've only ever seen a million Soras and some of the XIII crew.
>>
>>5174709
Ehhh I don't know. Maybe with Kingdom Hearts 3, if it ever comes out, they will have a limited line.

I mean if they made a Film Collection Tonto Doll, surely Kairi can get something. Even if it's a limited as fuck D23 release.

Which, speaking of, here's deboxed Regina & Snow.

AFAIK they aren't doing raffles for the 17 inch Aladdin dolls. The raffles are only for the Designer Heroes/Villains sets this year. The LE Aladdin dolls will be first come, first serve... the store I go to has an employee at the friend with the LE doll display and they hand out numbered tickets if you want a doll until the dolls are sold out.
>>
>>5188363
> tomorrow?
You asked this on Sunday. The dolls didn't go up for sale at the Disney Store until Tuesday tho.

Anyways I tried and got them. At first I wasn't sure if they were worth it but I ended up going for the raffle anyways. I meet some other really nice people while waiting and had a nice time. My name was called and I paid for them. It seems most of the Snow whites have an issue with their hair. It's a little to out of place / wild on the side of her head that's facing the Witch.
>image very related

Once I got her home and put her on the self I fell in love with them even more than when I saw them at the store which is odd for me since usually it's the other way around.
I'm very happy to say I have zero buyers remorse.

It's funny you say that because while I was waiting with others at the Disney Store for the White/Hag set a store "cast member" came up with that Cinderella set your talking about and tried selling it. I thought to myself "this guy needs to get out of here with that over priced box set"

This is how it went down
>Guy holds set up and tries selling it to people in line because he thinks doll collectors would bite

>No one said a word.
>Everyone in line just looked away.
>One girl with flowers in her hair asked how much the set was.
>Cast member said it was over $200.
>One chick in line started booing at the price
>Male cast member walked away with the set. while saying "Nobody.....n-n-nobody?

I knew thats the reaction he was going to get from the line the moments I saw him walking to us with the box set.
Not because it's a bad looking set though.
I don't care for it because I'm not a big fan of the actors in the film or the price point. Besides I already bought a Cinderella box set a few years back. It's based off of the actual animated characters from the classic timeless film and not some flavor or the moment modern day actors in cosplay.
>>
>>5200948
They should have sold a trio set of the stepsisters+stepmother for $70 or heck even $100, if we go by $35 or so for each doll.

Cinderella and the Fairy Godmother are the same dolls from the solo sets, and let's be honest, nobody really cares about the Prince.

So basically people are being forced to buy an expensive as hell set for 3 dolls.

This is what I thought when I bought the set based of the animated film a few years back. All anyone really wanted was Lady Tremaine and the Stepsisters. I bought the set because I'm a big Eleanor Audley fan whos the voice actress for Lady Tremaine and Maleficent. My friend didn't buy it thinking that at some point Disney Store would release the step sisters and Step Mother separately which they never did. Disney knows most people only buy these sets for a few rare character. Like when they included Vanessa in their $80 Little Mermaid box set. They knew it was the first time this character had ever been made into a doll and that fans would rebuy all the other dolls just to get her. So instead of selling her individually they jam as many dolls, pvc figures, and dresses as they could into the box set and slap a heavy price on it. Giving the buyer the old "All or nothing" option.

The eyes are the only thing about her that I truly love. She has the shy sad glossy eyes of a soon to be victim. The eyes are very glossy as if to imply water is building up in them and tears would roll down her face if she blinked. Kinda like those sad wide eyed Japanese anime character dolls. It may be an odd chose but at least it's something different and cool.

>>5198654
> the look of slight nervousness?
I'm not very sure why Disney of all companies would choose to give one of their dolls this expression especially since Snowwhite wasn't nervous or sad in the film as the witch was handing her the apple. If anything she was happy and hopeful since she was making a wish while under the impression that it was a magic wishing apple that would make all her dreams come true.

>>5205901

Just got back about an hour ago from picking them up. My store got 20 sets of them and only about 12 people came for them which is way less than last week. I almost passed on them since I already had 12inch Hook and Pan dolls from 1999 and kinda wanted to just just get The Little Mermaid set. I dragged myself there to just look at them one more time and I have to say the amount of detail that each character has is just amazing. The little mermaid set looks so plain and basic compared to the Pan/Hook set. Every thing from the paint apps to the clothing and props are just awesome. I'm not sure about Hooks body but not only did they create a new face mold fore Peter but he also has a new smaller boy body type. They didn't just take the normal male classic Disney store doll body and shrink it down. I dare to say that I love this set even more than Snow and the Hag.

Bigger picture of the Deluxe Singing Doll. It's described as being part of the 'Deluxe Disney Princess Feature Doll Collection' so presumably there will be more than Ariel, Rapunzel and Elsa in the future.

Also, images of the upcoming Aladdin+Jasmine LE (which is LE 250 and probably $1000, thanks Disney!) are leaked on one of the private doll Facebook groups. They haven't been posted elsewhere yet, though. Disney responded to someone's email basically saying they weren't going to publish any pictures or talk about the set before it was released because it would create a 'rush.'

I feel your pain anon.
I'm still but hurt over what they did with the red dress slave Jasmine doll. They didn't even make enough to send a few to Disney Stores on the Blu-rays release date.

I just hope I can get Aladdin and Jafar. I'm not going to get my hope up to high tho. My local Disney Store is haunted by a bunch of old soccer mom hags who find ways to enter the mall at 6am threw unlocked security doors. The Disney Store doesn't even open until 10AM and these bitches are already there at 6AM like the bunch of CHEATING Vultures that they are.

Luckily for everyone that plays by the book our new "based" Security guards put their foot down last time and made them leave. Also told them that if he caught them sneaking into the mall at 6AM again he would FOREVER ban them from the Disney Store. Hope thats enough to spook them into not cheating but these old hags are so obsessed they might try breaking in again.
At least with the raffles everyone has a fair chance of getting a doll.

I'm honestly just... getting fed up with Disney at this point. For the past 2 years the quality of the LE dolls has gone down, but the price has gone up. Disney is deliberately scaling back on the quality of the "regular" LE releases, but bringing the quality back up to that of the older LE doll relaases for the more expensive, limited dolls--whether they're D23 or Harrod's exclusives. Look at what they did with Aurora last year... using the Harrod's "Deluxe" version for their promo images, then sending people dolls with far less details and less quality.

They also refuse to address the major issues with the LE releases, whether it's the shipping fiascos, people being able to find links to the dolls early and the dolls (in a few cases now!) selling out before they were technically public on the website, etc etc. They get their money so they don't care.

>For the past 2 years the quality of the LE dolls has gone down, but the price has gone up.

Thats what everyone waiting in line these past two weeks have been talking about. How the eyelashes used to be longer, the dresses and hair used to have so much detail and care put into them. People are starting to notice. My best guess as to why Disney is doing this could be one of two things.
A) They worked really hard at first to establish their Limited Edition dolls brand and now that it's not a little secret that only a few fans know about they can just sit back reduce their costs by cutting back on quality and release slightly fancy looking versions of their normal classic dolls.

B) They're not telling us but the LE doll train is winding down now that they've released all the classic fairy tails on Blu-ray. After all I think the only reason this line was started was to celebrate each film when it came out on blu-ray. With the exception of Aladdin and that new Princess film that's coming out in a few years Disney is done/ tapped out of princes characters to release as LE dolls. So maybe they are just milking the last few drops out of this whole LE doll line before they close shop.

If they ever do release Snow White, Little Mermaid or sleeping Beauty on Blu-ray again do you really think they are going to create new 17inch LE dolls?

It's also kinda obvious that something odd is going on with how they released so many dolls this year as if they were trying to get their moneys worth out of a sinking ship before it sank. They even released a LE Minnie Mouse doll and Re-released the LE woody and Buzz dolls.
>>
>>5207928
>>5207934
Why did they make these dolls so ugly and cheap-looking? I love the idea of doll designs based on Disneyland rides, but they botched up the execution of it so bad.
>>
>>5211853
I also like the idea of Attractionistas as well but none of the designs are really that interesting. Personally I would like to see them make dolls of the Tightrope Girl from the Haunted Mansion and the Redhead Wench from Pirates of the Caribbean
>>
>>5211754
I think Disney knows that collecting is becoming more and more accessible and widespread. Particularly with social media encouraging people to take pictures of their dolls and collections... to me social media fuels collecting more than regular forums ever could.

As you said, it's not a 'little secret' anymore--they don't have to advertise and promote LE dolls like crazy to get them to sell. I remember when the first Snow White LE came out, they bundled it with the Snow White re-release and other goodies and just hammered out advertising trying to sell this doll. Now? They might throw up one advertisement weeks before, then let it be.

It seems that person has touched her up a little. One thing is for sure that LE Jasmine doll DID NOT come with that beautiful flower that Aladdin gives her in the film during the A Whole New World. It would have been a really nice touch if they would have included it tho. You would think that for $130 each princes could come holding an object from their film like the early LE dolls did.

Even the cheaper $30 singing Jasmine doll sets come with the flower.

Very few collectors are getting that one. With the exception of a few clothing details and giving Rapunzel longer hair there is no advantage to owning this set if you already have the Disney Store Classic doll versions of them. So sometimes Harrod's gets their own special exclusive versions of Disney limited dolls. The exclusive dolls have a lower edition number and have more details, better quality fabrics, and sometimes other differences.

When Disney advertised their LE Sleeping Beauty, they used pictures of the Harrod's exclusive (which was LE 100, made with a more velvet-like material, more rhinestones, different draping etc) but when people got their dolls, they were less detailed, made with different fabric, and so on.
>>
I'm starting to read rumors online that some people are getting early links to order the LE wedding Aladdin and Jasmine doll set. I think I've also read someone talk about this being an issue in one of these threads. So that by the time the dolls go live for sale they are already sold out because certain people got advanced links. I wonder if these are just rich and famous people who Disney favors that are sent the links in advanced or if they are those people who pay over $200 per year for those "Sorcerers" D23 memberships who get first dibs on whatever they want
>>
>>5217580
The people that get early links are almost certainly employees of stores with the dolls or employees of the warehouses where the dolls are being stored. Basically anyone with access to the doll boxes.

The way that the 'early links' work is that people can get the item code from the physical doll box, and plug that into the Disney Store online site. And because Disney is stupid or too lazy to change how their links work, that brings up the website link for each item. So all people have to do is refresh until the item pops up for sale... unfortunately what happens it that the items are often technically "live" about 20-30 minutes before those links are viewable by searching the website normally.

Thanks for sharing the link but $50!!!
Thats kind of a harsh bummer. I remember when the 17inch singing dolls came out in 2011 they were $30 each and I ended up getting them all for $20 each when they went on sale for a few months.
Heck I've even seen them as low as $15 each when they had their twice upon a year sale
I was kinda upset and thought it was bad when they jacked up the price on the tall singing light up dolls about two years ago to $40 per doll. I ended up paying $80 plus tax for Elsa and Anna .

Now they jacked up the price yet again to $50 per doll! ?
Nice dolls but Disney Store is getting way to greedy .

Yea, Disney's been raising their prices steadily.... it's frustrating. I would pay $50 for Rapunzel, personally, but not the other two. (But then I really love Rapunzel.) Her dress and braid are a lot nicer than the regular singing dolls but Ariel and Elsa don't look that different/better quality.
>>
>>5220735
Actually wait, I looked closer and it's not even embroidery? Just rhinestones.

And they used the same top from the other dolls. Would it have killed them to spend a little extra money--since they're sure as hell charging the cost of 6 LE dolls--on making full dress that at least somewhat resembled Jasmine's wedding outfit?

Got to buy LE Aladdin. Hes my first male LE 17inch doll and looks really awesome/ presentable in person.
Some scalper lady that camped out in front of the mall starting at 4AM all night by herself left in a storm of anger when she was told that they didn't get Jafar in and that they wouldn't sell her more then one Aladdin. She left without buying anything. Our store got like 10 Aladdin's and there were plenty of them left over when I got mine. All in all I'm glad I got him. The Abu he comes with is pretty large compared to the normal sized one that comes inside of the $80 box set. I saw the teal LE Jasmine and didn't feel bad at all for not getting her. I'm sorry for those who really like her but to me shes a dark, conservative and depressingly ugly doll. I would have gotten slave Jasmine tho.
>>
>>5218294
You were right: she wasn't very sought after in my Disney store, and I live in a major city too. They still have Pan and Hook, no Snow White and Hag.

Getting Elsa and Hans is going to be stressful.

>>5220825
I didn't regret not getting Jasmine either for the same reasons as you did. I know some people find her to be nice but she's boring and fades too much in the background.

...Call it intuition but I have a feeling you and the other scalping fucks made things more awkward than they needed to be that morning.

And just when I thought I couldn't feel any more sorry for disney employees too. They really should just stick with the raffle method, the retail scene is shitty enough as it is without faggots trying to make a quick buck off of collector shit.
>>
>>5168229
Rapunzel's face looks kind of bad. That 5head ruined her round face shape so it looks so awkward and oblong. Her big eyes don't really help either.

The profile on >>5206140 is a little wonky but at least her forehead looks normal.

What part of that post made you believe that I'm as scalper? Where did you read anything about me reselling the dolls in that post? All I said was that after hours of waiting for a doll I just wish they would open their door like all other normal store do so I can go in get my doll and go get some lunch / sleep already.

Sorry that you were triggered but learn to read more carefully anon. I Hate scalperfags to!
I ended up pay a scalper $500 for a $100 doll once because I wanted it sooo badly and the dang thing just keeps going up in price every month online. I'm not proud of giving one of those fucks that type of money and yes I feel shame for doing so and yes I hate the fucker for price gouging me so hard but I wanted it so badly. It's my second most favorite part of my collection.

Who's gonna be getting Ursula and Ariel next Tuesday?
>>
>>5226184
I just got back from returning some stuff to make the last $8 I needed for Ariel and Ursula!

I'm SUPER poor yet I've some how used every trick in the book to get as many as I could. Had to sell stuff like a Star Wars black series bb8 & Ray, Jurassic world Bad boy I-Rex, barbie Bed room set, a light up talking plush Minion, and a Toy Story 3 Jessie doll.

This is what I got in exchange. Snow White and Hag, Pan and Hook, LE 17inch Aladdin and Jafar. Had to wait 4 hours in line for him because they only got 3 Jafars in.
I skipped LE Jasmine 17", Rapunzel and Mother Gothel and I'll skip Elsa and Hans since I already have their classic dolls which look kinda the same with just a few less bells and whistles.

Got the 'Feature Doll' Rapunzel today. She's gorgeous. She's worth $50 IMO. Although I only paid $30 because I had that $10 off coupon and $20 gift card from a damaged item a few months back. Her braid is lovely but the flowers are plastic, because they're the things that light up. It would have been better to have nice fake flowers in her hair and make the lantern light up but it's not a dealbreaker I suppose. Her costume is nice, has lace trimmings on the bodice, sleeves and bottom. The only thing I don't care for is that they used that sheer sparkly fabric for the overskirt instead of using fabric that matched the bodice, which they did use for the underskirt. But it does give it a nice gauzy princessy look so...

Other than that, very lovely doll. She's a lot better quality than the other tall singing dolls--the 2011 and 2012 are on the left here. Her costume is more detailed, her face matches the character more, her hair is weaved with sparkly tinsley and the braid well done.

I saw the Elsa & Ariel Featured dolls in the store and I don't think they're worth the $50. They don't seem to have the care put into them that Rapunzel does.
>>
>>5233025
I really wish I had that LE Rapunzel. Sadly LE dolls only caught my eye when Cinderella was released. On the brigh side I do have the one on left which was the first one released when the film first hit theaters.

Seeing that Aladdin just got released would it have killed them to release a Jasmine 17inch singing doll. They did it when The Little Mermaid was released on blu-ray. She even came with a blue dress
>>
>>5233419
They've been really screwing up this Aladdin re-release tbh. Most of the stuff in stores is limited edition so it's a pain in the ass to get... Sleeping Beauty & Little Mermaid had a lot of general merchandise for their anniversaries.

>>5233408
I have the wedding one but not the original/purple LE. I wish I did too, she's really lovely.
>>
>>5226184
I picked them up and boy I'll tell you there were so may people there today for them. Never underestimate the power of The Little Mermaid.

My local Disney Store still has the Rapunzel and Pan set....Heck they still have a few LE Aladdin dolls left over from last week but Ariel and Ursula sold out today. We got about 20 of them and there were more than 20 people there. Only thing I kinda dislike is when you have couples come in and they buy two of them up essentially screwing over someone who was trying to go home with one.

I wonder if Frozen will do as well next week or if it will shelf warm like Tangled and Peter Pan. The end of Frozen fan fever might be coming to an end. I heard one lady behind me say "You wanna come get the Elsa and Hans set next week?" The other girl reply saying "I'm kinda sick so much Frozen stuff."
It will probably sell well tho

Yeah I feel you anon.
Truth be told I did not buy this set for the Ariel doll for the same reasons you listed. I hate these new modern day dolls with their shiny/greasy faces. That conservative shirt they gave her just to save money on creating a fancy bra for her kills me and unless you take her out of the box you can't even see her hair or the rock shes sitting on from the front. The tail is really nothing special. It looks like an art project anyone could do if they bought a normal classic doll and just glued the scales on themselves. The fins aren't really all that impressive.

I did on the other hand buy it for the Ursula doll. I'm a really REALLY big fan of the Ursula character, Devin, aka (the inspiration for the character) and Pat Carrol aka (Ursulas voice actress).
Not only is she my favorite Disney Villain shes also my favorite Disney character period.
Only thing that bummed me out about the Ursula doll is that she is THE ONLY female doll in this doll line that DOES NOT have rutted eye lashes. That's totally disrespectful in my book. The black body also seem to be made out of pleather which I'm sure will crack and self deteriorate over time as well. Even when I was at the store and put my name in the hat to win this set I was still thinking about skipping it. I ended up buying it for fear that I'd regret not getting it later on and than see it on sites like ebay in a few years being sold by scalpers for $400 to $600.
>>
>>5236778
you mean rooted? The witch/hag doesn't have them either.
>>
>>5236998
Yeah but the hag is supposed to be an ugly old witch. Ursula is more of a Diva than a frumpy old witch. Not to mention that her 17" doll who shared the same face mold came with rooted eyelashes.

Come to think of it I'm pretty sure the witch/hag didn't even have eyelashes in the film...
>>
>>5236998
>>5237734
Yeah I think a better comparison would be Gothel. She's evil and not intended to be beautiful, but just like Ursula, in her head she's goddamn gorgeous. And Gothel gets rooted lashes as seen in >>5168229.

To sit Ariel on the rock all you would need to do is bend her legs to place her in the sitting position. A rotating wait line would only allow her to move her body side to side. What would having a random rotating waist line have to do with helping the doll sit on the rock?

She can't sit like that in the box without disney spending extra on support plastic.

I guess you wouldn't be buying one today than.
In 2010 Disney Store classic dolls sold for $12.50. Than in 2013 they wen't up to $14.50. In 2014 they went up yet again to 16.95.

Not only did the prices go up but they dolls are less detailed and if you're buying a Rapunzel doll the ones selling for $17 now come with WAY less hair to the point were if you pull a strand to the side you can see the scalp. The hair is also shorter. Before it used to be longer than the doll itself. Now it doesn't even reach her feet. Also NO PASCAL.
You can sometimes get them on sale for 3 for $30 but you are forced to buy three of them to get them at the $10 price point.

Still no matter what they are WAAAY better in price and quality than the ones you will find at Walmart, Target, and Toys R Us made by Mattel.

To be fair, one of the reasons for the shorter hair are constant parent complaints. We got a lot of comments from parents about the dolls hair tangling really easily, and the reviews on the disney store back in the day for the earlier dolls reflected that. Less full hair is cheaping out, but, the length is more likely because parents got tired of it.

They are nifty shirts, though. And they had them BOGO so you could get at least 2 half off, assuming you got all three of the costume shirts + one of the Sanderson Museum shirts.

Granted I wanted more. Maybe since the Hocus Pocus Villain Show has been insanely successful and popular, Disney will take another look at the series. Although I hope they don't pull a Once Upon a Time and only make a very limited amount for D23........
>>
>>5254665

There's also the possibilty of a Hocus Pocus world in Kingdom Hearts 3, though it may just be the Sisters appearing as villains outside their respective world like Maleficent due to "hurr, Salem is a real place". Which would be bullshit because HP would be a near perfect Halloween Town replacement, and it could be easier to to do than Pirates seeing it can easily just have a more exaggerated version of Halloween Salem as opposed to a realistic place.

I mean from what I heard, the real reason Tron got in 2 was because apparently Legacy was greenlit around the time.

22 of the 25 dates sold out within hours. Last year the only date that sold out beforehand was halloween. The halloween events at WDW are usually not as crowded as those at DL but for the hocus pocus show they were full.

Even tho I've never seen a black chick play a white character at any Disney park just because a white actress wasn't "available" we aren't talking about Disney parks.

We were talking about the abc show Once Upon a Time where they turned Rapunzel (who is known for having iconic long blonde hair) into a black chick with the longest looking shitlocks ever put put on film. They also turned Ursula into a THIN empowered black woman.

>>5255838
This frustrates me so much because this isn't even real diversity, its just basically palette swapping since they're really not having her play the character differently than a white actress. She's still portrayed as a European princess. There's so goddamn many great myths and legends from all over the world, why do we need to keep doing this?
>>
>>5257557
>they're really not having her play the character differently than a white actress. She's still portrayed as a European princess.

Rapunzel in the show is from the Enchanted Forest, though, not Europe. And before this point there were kings/queens/princesses/etc who were shown as black.

I think color blind casting > forcing an actor who isn't white into a pre-conceived notion of what a "black character" should be. Disney has done color blind casting for their live productions, stage and screen, and I doubt they'll stop that anytime soon.

Mulan looks okay, and I like that they're using green/not her matchmaker dress. Also her face is leaps and bounds better than that bizarre-ass face Hasbro used for 'Lonnie' in their Descendants line.

But overall, really bizarre. Lack of articulation isn't surprising but disappointing nonetheless (Descendants dolls had it, c'mon Hasbro!) but the bodies are totally at odds with those big, honking heads. Monster High's big heads work because of the stylized bodies and articulation, but those bodies are very sort of "little girl chracter" then BAM huge head?

I'm actually surprised at how meh these are. The Descendants dolls, minus the guy characters and their attempt at the asian character's face, look nicer.

While I would kill for some Hocus Pocus dolls myself I kinda get where you'r coming from anon.
It's kinda like what Hollywood did to that film "A Christmas Story". It was just a little film that the main stream didn't seem to care about for almost 20 years and than word of mouth (Tumblr, Instagram, Social Media) caused it to become to big for it's own good to the point that they released A Christmas Story 2 straight to DVD and you can't walk into a store around Christmas time without seeing 20 pieces of merchandise from the film. Turning a little cute film that used to make you feel warm and special into an over hyped fashionable abomination you get sick of when you see it IN STORES.

Some of those look scary. Why is Jasmine , Ariel, and Rapunzel creeping me out so much. There heads are so large and long while their bodies barely have any feminine curves / forum. Some of them look like a big head on a stick that has a fancy dress over it. I'm talking to you Ariel!
>>
>>5257589
Yes I know its the "Enchanted Forest" but its obviously based on medieval European fantasy. Diversity shouldn't be about being color blind or pretending that there isn't a difference between things, it should be about acknowledging and accepting those differences. Like obviously there are different lands in there, why can't they change it up and have some of the stories have other cultural styles to them at least?
>>
>>5260645
>but its obviously based on medieval European fantasy
>fantasy
>fantasy

Key word.

And it's funny... I haven't seen you (or a single person who complains about some minor characters being black) say a single thing about Snow White being a kick-ass vagabond who lives in the woods and eventually murders someone, or Red Riding Hood being a literal werewolf. But black character not being from Africa? It's just not like, true to the fairytales, man.
>>
How about we don't make a character that has been known as a blond for longer than you or I have even been alive in hopes of being "inclusive" for starters. To take it to the point where the original character is barely recognizable from all the other generic dim a dozen knockoffs is a crime in itself.

Whats next they digitally remaster How the Grinch Stole Christmas and CG the Grinch from the color green to neon pink ?
>>
>>5260839
That's because we're not actually talking about the story or plot or actual characterization, but diversity. I love that they're changing the characters. I want them to change it more, in fact. Take more risks. The examples you gave are not exactly new to those characters. There's tons of Red as a werewolf over the years, and one of the original legends that the Snow White tale is derived from involved a young princess joining a group of outlaws and thieves after escaping her murderous gold-digging stepmother.
What I'm talking about is that the only places in their world seem to be either stand-ins for Europe, or the somewhat confusing Agrabah. Mulan's home doesn't even have a name. So instead of taking the chance to either rewrite some things a little (which they are already majorly changing anyway) or maybe mixing in other myths, they're just slapping a generic princess gown on someone and saying they're Rapunzel. I'm not even mad about Ursula (I honestly like what they did with the story) though they could have picked a bigger actress and had more fun with her design. I just want more going on than renaissance faire rejects.
>>
>>5260865
>To take it to the point where the original character is barely recognizable from all the other generic dim a dozen knockoffs is a crime in itself.

Once Upon a Time's Rapunzel =/= Disney's Rapunzel, Grimm's Rapunzel, or any other particular version of Rapunzel. They don't have the same backstory, family, powers, or antagonist. With the exception of Frozen, Once Upon a Time has never stuck to the Disney canon for the characters in the show--nor has it attempted to say that the OUAT characters are even meant to portray the Disney versions or any specific published verison. Hell the show literally makes it a point for the non-fairytale characters to make comments about how the fairy tale people are "different" from the books she read as a kid.
>>
>>5260928
Once Upon a Time characters are clearly based on / meant to depict Disney characters or Anna and Elsa wouldn't be there.
>>
>>5260959
>Once Upon a Time characters are clearly based on / meant to depict Disney characters or Anna and Elsa wouldn't be there.

Anna and Elsa were brought into the show to cash in on the Frozen hype. Anna and Elsa (and now Merida, to an extent) are the only characters that were meant to actually depict the canon Disney characters, which the writers have themselves said. Have you even watched the show? All of the other characters may have Disney influences, but they are not the Disney characters. Their backstories, magical abilities, even personalities are often different. Again, literally in the show they have real-world characters who point out that the Enchanted Forest/fairytaleworld characters aren't like the ones they read about or watched back home.

>My main grip with OUAT was the uncute male actors.

The female actresses on the show aren't much to look at either I assure you.
They all look rather frumpy, old and theres not one among them that stands out as a classic beauty. They cast a girl with the longest nose imaginable whos done nude/ rape scenes in other films to play Alice. Most of them are in their 30s while playing teenage princesses. The girl they got to play Snow White is almost 40 freakin years old. Even Ginnifer Goodwin herself said in an interview a few years back that she was shocked to find out that she was cast to play Snow White do to her advanced age. I don't think the show has even had a real teenage girl play a single princess.

These types of woman are clearly cast to apple to the shows main demographic which are slightly un-attractive, out of shape and aging woman who don't wish to be reminded of what an actually attractive woman looks like. The show presents average looking woman (like them) which makes them feel better about themselves and in turn keeps them tuning in each week. The other viewers are mostly gays who don't really care if the females who are cast to play the parts are beautiful since they feel no attraction to woman and could care less.

Mate I don't care about people posting how excited they are to get the dolls, pics of their queue tickets etc. That's part of the fun, thrill of the hunt and all that. I probably should've been more discrete with my choice of words but alas, I was high on consumerism; what pisses me off is the people who brag about corralling their families in front of multiple computers at stupid o'clock to help them purchase dolls, those who claim to have worn down relatives/spouses into footing the bill, that kind of shit. Got pretty grating after the first few weeks of trying to buy the dolls piecemeal on Disney's mobile site without any luck.

I can't speak for the US, but the Disney Store UK's facebook is an absolute shitshow of entitlement. I've collected a lot of things in my time - I'm into BJDs and have run the Volks gauntlet once or twice - yet I've never seen people throwing anything like the kind of tantrums that people have over these dolls. Maybe it's the nature of the beast? Disney attracts the "normies", as it were? i.e. People who aren't familiar with the tense nature of attempting to buy a limited edition item, and who get too emotionally involved too easily.

People are literally laying into Disney because they weren't lucky enough to acquire limited edition merchandise from a highly sought after franchise. Like that woman I posted - "I am a set missing and would invite your proposal for resolution" - is this bitch serious? What "resolution" does she have in mind? A free doll?! It's a known fact that the Disney websites all suck, no one is deliberately being victimised by the Illuminati here. Some woman's gone as far as starting a petition imploring Disney to increase their edition sizes to 10000+, or attempt to ban sales of the dolls on ebay. I mean, not that the latter would ever happen, but can you even imagine the implications? Jesus Christ. If my disdain makes me a Disney villain, then hand me my staff and call me Jafar

Fucking normies

I think the doll looks nice but I'm not a big fan of the film or character for that matter. I already have her classic doll and a 17" light up singing doll which is way more than I need. The only way I would buy a LE Elsa doll would be if she came in her Snow Queen outfit (which sells fore way to much online) and not something she had on during a Disney Short film.

I think this is definitely a thing. The way some women flipped their shit when the "designer" princess stuff came out just showed they can't stand the thought of what Disney princesses would really be like in a real life setting. Just looking at tumblr for a few hows would be enough to convince their marketers that the average fan is a buttertroll who lives under a bridge on the pizza grease river.
>>
>>5268723
What on earth.

The reaction to the initial designer princess line was extremely positive. The backlash came because Disney was in no way prepared for its popularity, and scalpers started scooping up every bit of merchandise in doors, lack of rules had people going wild at malls, etc. Not because "oh noes!! we're jealous of dolls!" I even saw comments about how the dolls didn't seem glamorous ENOUGH compared to the designs advertised before the first stock photos came out.

The only significant negative reaction to the designer line (aside from quality issues, and disney's ever-present inability to ship items properly) has been about the Designer Ursula and Designer Queen of Hearts being skinny molds.

also wat

>The way some women flipped their shit when the "designer" princess stuff came out just showed they can't stand the thought of what Disney princesses would really be like in a real life setting.

The only differences between the regular princesses and the 'designer" princesses are... some eyelashes. And rhinestones. And sometimes side-glancing eyes. My god, women could never handle disney princesses with a bit more bling and falsies.

I was going to post that yesterday but thought it looked to spooky. It has really white skin and dark sunken in ghostly eyes which gives her that "I don't have a soul" look. The dress does look more like the one in the film than the 17" LE doll but it's really nothing to write home to mom about.

Best way I could describe her would be by calling her Zombie Cinderella

Which would explain why they always show shirtless young guys at least a few times every season but never show a YOUNG girl in her bra or underwear.
>Image very related

Even tho they just slept together the Cougar Queen is modestly dressed while her way younger boytoy is not only shown shirtless but they actually drag the shirtless scene out by slowly showing him getting dressed On Camera. When have they ever shown such a gratuitous skin revealing scene involving a young female character? Probably never.

Funny how the females watching the show never write angry letters about how the show is objectifying males but show one young looking girl in her underwear on any abc show and abc's website crashes the next day with an overflow of ragingly angry letters.

With the release of Aladdin on Blu-ray and Robin Williams recent passing I know that a lot of fans were kinda hoping for a LE Genie doll. Most fans commented that seeing that they gave Aladdin his sidekick character Abu and that they gave Jafar Iago they should have giving LE Jasmine a prop to hold as well which could have been the Genie lamp. It would have been a nice way of honoring the character and actor even if a Genie doll wasn't produced.

Well I do know some did flip their shit when Disney released Ursula as a skinny designer doll. Granted that I disliked what they did as well but the amount of butthurt that came from Disney turning Ursula skinny to make her more attractive / fashionable was something to behold.

One of them even took the stage to voice their butthurt like the chick in the video below who fucking gave a speach about the dsigner doll. A part of me wants to agree with her to tell the truth since I'm a major fan of the character and hated the new skinny look.

Yeah, no. Based on the intricate custom printing on the skirts it is definitely real Hasbro. Replica prints never look that good.
>>
>>5272005
If you look on Aliexpress for Disney dolls, you'll find knock-off dolls with surprisingly detailed printed dresses and skirts. Some of them on there now have the same weird body as the supposed Hasbro dolls.

I'm wondering if the Aliexpress dolls are using the prints from the upcoming Hasbro dolls, but cheaper bodies and heads. I would truly be shocked if Hasbro used such terrible bodies for their debut Princess line, especially since Descendants was relatively high in quality.

>>5272029
I'm actually surprised by how nice the Descendant dolls look. Except Jane. She looks fucking uncanny.

Does anyone else remember the little 3 or 4 inch tall action figures Disney used to put out with every movie? I think I had the Aladdin set, Pocahontas, Mulan, Hunchback of Notre Dame, and something else, maybe Little Mermaid, and a huge Lion King spread with an elephant graveyard playset. I was hoping to find more of that kind of thing recently but all they seem to have is the Polly Pocket type dolls?

The photography is just overexposed, she isn't actually dark-eyed and actually has bright red lips and pink blush. It's probably a snapshot by an event attendee. Her dress looks really detailed but we probably won't see it well until there are official photos taken.

Volks (company making it) doesn't go for the creepy look, they're very into classically beautiful dolls. Anyway, as it's LE1 and a charity auction likely to go for several thousand, it probably wouldn't interest most people, as we cannot own it!

The people who spend over $100 on LE Disney dolls don't care much for early 2000s films like Home one the Range, The Emperor's New Groove, and Lilo & Stitch.

Only people who would care about those characters would be people who were born in the mid to late 90s and unless there are thousands of those (who would now be adults) who are willing to buy them up day one of thier release Disney is more than likely going to forget about releasing merch for those films just like they have forgotten The Black Cauldron.
