When can we expect to see the 2015 Star Wars sets start to hit the shelves?
>>4573600
Jan 1 (give or take a few days) but don't expect them to hang around long for long.
>>4573669
Do you know when one can find the Pirates sets? I heard they would not be coming in January.
What does LEGO general think of Saber-Scorpion? He used to be a legend, but he's gone almost under the radar now. His website is still up, but nobody talks about him anymore.
watching lego reviews while fiddling with lego minifigs
>>4573688
I'm almost always tinkering with CCBS when I watch Jang's reviews 'cause I have a parts bin right next to my desk. So comfy.
>>4573693
>I'm almost always tinkering with CCBS
Why are you posting here then?
>>4573671
They'll be released in March.
>>4573682 iirc, Saber Scorpion does only decals, and anymore the craze is over printed parts. Eclipse grafx and Citizen brick are a couple 3rd party vendors who do printed stuff and have gotten boatloads of attention for doing so.
>>4573693
>I'm almost always tinkering with CCBS
>Jang
sure
>>4573709
not that anon, but are there BL stores that offer customized printing?
>>4573704
That is so long to wait.
>>4573697
because those threads are cancer
>>4573717
Gotta make room for bionicle, being one of the best reboots to ever happen in a long time. Pirates will be just fine anon.
>>4573719
Yeah, you right. I don't even want to post my MOCs cause of the rampant shitposting.
Sage for off-topic.
>>4573719
Nice meme :^)
>>4573715
Not that I know of, but I do wonder if BL will add a section for custom stuff with their ongoing remodeling.
>>4573717
Why are you going to buy any? They look like shit, slightly worse rehashes of the 2009 sets.
We need proper sets, like a big fort (not a facade) or some smaller ships, I mean there's no ships in between a shitty raft and the huge pirate ship.
>>4573730
Nice meme :^)
>>4573730
I think they look nice.
>>4573732
I think you're just letting your nostalgia get in the way of your judgement.
>>4573709
>Saber Scorpion does only decals, and anymore the craze is over printed parts
True.
But his creations used to be really popular too. He was a god during the Halo 2 days. Now he is just a footnote.
>>4573736
Maybe I am.
I still think they look nice, and I plan to get the four cheaper ones that can combine to a larger diorama.
>>4573730
Aw, now you're being a bit harsh. I agree that it'd be cool with a smaller ship like a sloop but the sets are pretty cool.
I particularily like this, that brickbuilt skull just screams 90s classic Pirate LEGO for some reason, and you get the new bandana and crocodile, too
>>4573699
>>4573725
>>4573731
pointing out shit posting is also shit posting
any ways does any one have any ideas for parts to make a Krampus minifigure?
>>4573737
Does he still post things frequently? At least from what I've noticed about the online lego community, you have to keep posting stuff fairly regularly to stay in the spotlight.
>>4573704
Will the new Chima sets release in March, too? It seems they are even further behind than the Pirates line.
>>4573744
>stud shooter in PIRATES
>>4573782
smaller cannon
As a lifelong collector of Pirate LEGO I have to say that this new wave is as bad as it gets.
No creativity at all, It's just slightly worse rehashes of all the old sets. Treasure Island? Looks awfully lot like Volcano Island set. And what about the flagship of the wave, the Brick Bounty. Not only does it almost have the same name as the ship it's a remake of, it also has some really ugly sails.
Nothing worth buying here.
>>4573782
Would you rather have them stick the useless old catapult piece on them?
>>4573600
oh shit, i can finally get a tie fighter for a decent price.
Is there anybody who actually likes flick missiles? Or "working" cannons/missiles in LEGO in general? `even as a kid I thought that shit was annoying and liable as fuck.
>>4573811
I think the new stud shooters are fine, even the molded catapults back in the day from the pirate ships with springs are fine because its their sculpt and the design allows it. I Don't really like the new missle shooters but the missles look fun
>>4573750
Best I can do without a tail piece.
>>4573862
I really wish they'd make chains that fit minifig wrists.
>>4573874
>>4573875
Chains, not handcuffs. I'm talking Robert E. Howard bindings!
>>4573744
>that brickbuilt skull just screams 90s classic Pirate LEGO for some reason
Yes, I wonder why...
>>4573682
>Anonymous
Massive cunt, also bad at decals and customisation in general due to trying to be an assembly-line shithouse.
>>4573673
>>4573600
...this morning they were avaible on TRU.com:
http://www.toysrus.com/search/index.jsp?origkw=lego+star+wars&sr=1&keywords=lego+star+wars&kwCatId=&kw=lego+star+wars&page=2
>tfw snagged it before they were gone
I got Inquisitor and the Snowspeeder microfighter. I'll take pictures when they arrive in a day or two.
>>4573811
All of my spring-loaded launchers or stud shooters stay unloaded. Flick-fire I load because they're usually capped with some sort of decorative piece I like the look of, so it's okay.
Also, the spring loaded 1x4 bricks aren't bad because you can just replace them or remove them from most sets and it's unnoticeable. They seem to purposefully design sets that use them so that they can be removed without hurting the design.
remember the competition line, lg?
>>4573730
>>4573802
Doesn't this look at least a little bit nice?
>>4574016
2/2, the other combining "homebase" diorama. Though an argument can be made that the pirates' homebase is in fact the ship.
>>4573419
The fuck are you on about? They had a box of goddamn space Legos at my preschool
>>4574016
Stupid pre-production mockups teasing us with the classic gator
>>4574021
Easy there, m8. First, it's "Lego". Second, "only X buys Y" doesn't mean "X buys only Y."
>>4574006
Now put it on BZPower and see how buttblasted they get.
>>4574034
I don't care about e-drama
>>4573730
I'm sure TLG will release "proper" sets once this line is a flop.
>>4573729
Bricklink already has custom items, but all printed stuff I see are minifigs and I'm not really interested in buying those.
>>4574006
Duuuuuuuuude yes. I actually just rebuilt both of those recently, but I don't know what happened to my little blue dude with helmet. That's all right though because purple cyborg guy is the shit and I still have him.
So I was going to go and go out and buy pic related tomorrow, as it has some nice parts and cute ass figs. However, it turns out its fucking $50 AUD ($41.50 USD for you amerifags).
Hopefully I can get a discount with my lug, but its still ridiculous.
>>4574180
whats rediculous is the square shaped heads and not just regular round lego heads
>>4574182
I think the cube heads work well on the animals, but yeah it looks a little silly on some of the bipedal figures.
>>4574192
Maybe if they had bodies that matched.
>>4574226
maybe memecraft should have went to megabloks instead
Are there any decent guides for building the joints on these kinds of beasts? As a graphic designer I'd love to explore a MOC like this from a visual design perspective, but I have no clue how to engineer those complex joints.
>>4573916
Do they still make those coins? I don't remember seeing them in a while.
>>4574180
lol, in canada its 40 dollars and our dollars are the same, sucks to live in the ocean doesn't it?
>>4574574
It really does.
Not to mention I live in a regional town, so sets are both expensive AND hard to find.
>>4573585
That house looks edible
Just yesterday my friends surprised me with an early birthday gift. I can't wait to build it and have my minifigs storm the shops.
bless the sailor minifig
>>4574669
Scan the calendar for us.
>>4574311
>That pic
What are you making, Stark?
Anyone have a way to keep my minifig keychains from getting scratched up by my keys? The paint is getting ever so slowly eroded away.
Holy shit guys, I just got a hold of my holy grail piece. Only one of them, but I'm psyched. This piece is so useful now that the Mixel joints exist, but it's stupid rare and was only released in one random set in 2004 or something.
>>4575094
What is it? I mean, it's a balljoint on one end obviously, but the other end...does it just serve as a place to clip stuff, or what?
>>4575098
IIRC it was a microphone in a belville set
>>4575098
^this
>>4575100
Yes.
>>4575098
Besides clipping things to it, it should be a able to make some nice peg-and-hole connections with hollow studs (and maybe inside pins?). I'll find out when my order shows up.
>>4573919
yeah he's kind of a dick
>>4575094
these should come back in friends sets
>>4575134
There is a new Microphone piece and they are using it in Friends sets.
>>4575135
It could act as a large microphone
>4575094
BUTTPLUG!
>>4574311
The joints in this are simple, he's just using Linear actuators to stiffen them. It is not hard to do it, but it makes them less fun to play with.
My first forays into transformers used linear actuators and whilst you can take great photos, you have to spend 20 minutes doing the transformation, and your bae's in bed like telling you come fuck her, but you'll be all like "gotta twist this knob and make this car a guy" and she's getting pussy juice all over the bed and then when you finally get to her your fingers are tired and you have to go down on her for 3 hours instead and your mouth is too tired to eat ribs that evening.
Does that answer your question?
Pic related - transformer I made that was more sex-friendly.
>>4575094
>holygrail piece
>not maxifig hands
>>4575199
>>4575094
Its also not that good. Joint movement is restricted due to its design.
>>4575216
a third party could modify it to allow such movement
>>4575094
The technic pin or axle with a ball are already very useful in my opinion. I wonder if a bar like that would not pop out all the time.
>>4575232
The one with the technic cross axle is actually better because it cannot rotate.
>>4575153
>Making that tank have a big disc on the front

>>4573811
the old style ship cannons were amazing in every aspect
the flickfire missiles suck and look like ass
the studshooters work really well, but look like ass
Haven't had my hands on the technic launchers and new transred lazershooters.
>>4575094
Ah yes, the "Belville Buttplug"
>>4575264
more like an enema
>>4575153
does it actually transform, or is that some partsforming?
>you will never be a smug French girl whose castle bank is featured in Astrapi
Why even go on living, /lg/?
>>4573811
Flick fires are neat when they have a mechanism built around them.
The new stud shooters are fun, but to powerful; I find putting to studs together to still fire well but not too far either.
The new spring missiles are okay. The block looks good and is simple, however the missiles would have been a lot better with a stud on the end.
>>4575267
Legit, bro. Bit fiddly though. the torso is two chunks rotating on ball joints until it is all inside out.
>>4575322
i need to see this.
Haven't touched Lego in years.
Is greebling still the hip thing to do? Has anyone been able to define greebling and make a tutorial yet? It used to be this "you know it when you see it thing".
Greebling is simply added details that have no structural or functional purpose but look as if they do, but only add to the aesthetics.
>>4574182
This.
It's why i didn't pick up simpsons minifigs.
>>4575153
Man, I need to get back to my lego TFs.
>>4575354
>Has anyone been able to define greebling
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greeble
>>4574182
The square heads aren't an issue to me, they work well and can be used for a lot of different figures. Although I would have liked to have seen some angular arms on the torsos, they currently look out of place.
The Simpsons figure are just awful, why would you tool up a moulded head for every character? It removes the entire look of a Lego mini-figure, especially with the Simpsons, I can pick up any number of Simpson toys and take the head of them and stick it on a minifig. New hair pieces fine, but the entire head, where else am I going to use that?
>>4575392
Well with mixel joints it's easier than ever.
>>4575399
need to go grab some mixels.
>>4575401
Well here's one that actually uses mixel joints.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0WwDnA_kkFU
>>4575397
The licensing contract was probably the reason for those heads.
Then they did that Lego episode and gave everyone standard Lego heads anyway.
>>4575405
goddamn.
thats amazing.
>>4575414
Lego was trying to make minifigs that looked like The Simpsons.
The Simpsons were trying to make Simpsons that looked like Lego.
It's awkward, but they weren't trying to accomplish the same thing, and it shows.
Does Bricklink always send email when order is shipped? Because on the overview-page it says that my order is shipped but I haven't got email yet.
How many APC's do you guys own? I'm considering getting 4. Any good alternate builds for them?
>>4575465
no, not always, I hink the seller must activate that.

>>4575650
Pretty much no way. All the metallic pieces of your keychain rubs off the paint like goddamn sandpaper when they're in your pockets.
Just replace it when it's completely worn out.
I'm not hugely into minifigs, and I'm not at all into anime schoolgirl characters, so why am I so in love with this?
>>4575659
what kind of monster chopped their legs off and put those in place?

Oh fuck anon, I had this magazine ! I remember being in love with the moc.
Just got my new issues of the Lego club magazine. There's a Star Wars page that had a translation puzzle. The result is a code to enter on the website to unlock a combination build using parts from The Ghost and The Phantom.
Damn... I have both, but I am NOT taking apart my Ghost to build this little thing. And it's an expensive set to get a second one...
What's the general consensus about the 2013 Castle line in general and this set in particular?
>>4575807
Most people seem to think it was fairly bland an uninspired.
Personally, I like the line, I bought them all. I also bought five or six of that set, because it's a fantastic army builder, has a great naturally scenery bit, a treasure chest, weapons, flags, a dog, treasure... It's just a freaking great set.
>>4575809
Did you get the previous Castle sets?
I imagine if you hadn't gotten the older ones, the 2013 sets are okay. They just didn't do much different than the previous two versions of the castle sets.
>>4575816
I have the 2013 castles, then I have castles from the late 80's and early 90's.
And yeah, while they didn't exactly make a big stir, they were also intended to just sort of fill the gap between LOTR and The Hobbit.
Hopefully we'll get more involved castles in a couple years.
>>4575809
>tfw I bought 70400 and 70402 on sale
>tfw I bought 70401 because I thought I needed it, and then found out that the bad guy's face is the same as one of the bad guys in 70402
>tfw this angered me to such an extent that I wish I had never bought it
>>4575822
The reason I feel the 2013 set was bland and uninspired is that the 2013, the 2011, and the 2007 were all pretty similar. "Oh look, another square-shaped castle."
I felt the Vampyre's Castle from the Monster Fighters set has been the best castle Lego has made in the last 15 years.
>>4575665
>chopped the legs off
have you ever touched a minifig son
>>4575865
It didn't help that "new" factions were Lions and Dragons, again.
>>4575772
What's this meant to be? It looks decent but also just like a smaller ghost.
you could probably just find the parts to make it on bricklink too.
>>4573874
I think the "canon" way to do it is to push the ends of the chains onto the minifigs hands.
>>4575878
I always imagine that the various Lion faction kings are decedents of the original Lion faction king, all fighting to claim sections of land of his kingdom.
The dragon guys are just various bandit groups trying to organize under a disgraced noble linage that keeps getting their asses kicked.
>>4575885
>What's this meant to be?
The story in the club magazine is that the Ghost and Phantom crashed and they're building a rescue ship out of the wreckage.
--
Also, this new Captcha system is fucking terrible, I get error notices all the time, I have to close the reply box to get it to even try to work again, and now instead of just typing something in I have to click a box, wait for it to figure out it's an asshole, and load the typing box.
>>4575885
>It looks decent but also just like a smaller ghost.
Looks to me like a snowspeeder refitted for space-flight, like with bigger engines and an astromech slot. Which is an odd idea.
For the castles you have to remember most of the target audience will only use one, maybe two iterations of it before they move out of the Lego window as it were.
And 'medieval castle' is not as inherently a variable idea as 'space' is, there will be far more similarities between castle sets.
>>4575897
>I always imagine that the various Lion faction kings are decedents of the original Lion faction king, all fighting to claim sections of land of his kingdom.
>The dragon guys are just various bandit groups trying to organize under a disgraced noble linage that keeps getting their asses kicked.
This is great.
>Also, this new Captcha system is fucking terrible, I get error notices all the time, I have to close the reply box to get it to even try to work again, and now instead of just typing something in I have to click a box, wait for it to figure out it's an asshole, and load the typing box.
Yeah, at first I was worried that I'd just wasted $15 by buying another year of Captcha Pass the week before moot introduced this, but then I realized how annoying it still is.
>>4575922
>And 'medieval castle' is not as inherently a variable idea
That doesn't mean the big castle has to be a square stone fence with a portocullus on one end and a throne tower on the other.
The castles of the 80s and 90s actually had structure interior space. Jabba's palace and the vampyre's castle have interior space and features. The modern medieval castle is just a modular concrete fence, without enough pieces to really rebuild it as a solid structure.
>>4575936
>portocullus

>>4575985
>>4575517
Oh I see. Not stop motion.
I will try but it will be potato as fuck.
>>4576034
yeah I'm gonna do a photo story-ish thing once I get the minifig pieces I'm currently missing.
>>4575171
>maxifig hand
That part is essential to Mixel-y builds, but I already have a good handful. I used them for the hips on these guys. The towball-with-3mm bar piece is much less common, this was the first time I've seen a U.S. Bricklink store that had it in stock.
What sucks is that I don't care about the "rarity" or "collector's value" one bit, I want dozens of these.
Anyone else started to see these mugs eveywhere, on every set?
Sometimes seems unnecesary. Maybe a designer sign?
Tin foil hat time?
>>4576096
They're in every 6-wide truck produced in the modern age, I think. A bunch of my trucks came with them.

>>4575468

So I built a yeti mech
>>4576299
Not much in terms of elbows is there
Also why is one of its hands a skeleton with sunglasses
>>4576299
I like the face-chest thing and the feet but the whole no-elbows aspect looks limiting. That cool dude skull shield is neat but seems a bit out of play with the yeti.

Why the fuck are the Orange and Blue teams so fucking stacked compared to the Red Team? Red Team gets jack shit and the other three teams literally all have their own tanks.
Is there actually a "best" way of step-by-step downbuilding?
I can't install LDD in my potato.
>>4576465
>can't install LDD on my poato
Really? I managed to get LDD to run on my potato, although i had to turn all the grafix settings to potato to do so.
Other than taking photos, you could try MLCAD, although it doesn't autoconnect studs like LDD does.
