What are your hopes and dreams for nendroid that could be announced this wonfest?

Beat me to the punch!
I'm going to spam some FB images now.
Pretty excited for Tsugumi as I'm a Nisekoi fan. Now if only they'd make the best girl...
I'm a fuckwad and didn't answer your question.
The first one is Hoshimiya Kate, as Lady Venera from World Conquest Zvezda Plot. The latter is Amatsukaze from Kancolle
No one posted snake yet?
DAT ALTERNATE HEAD
DAY 1 PREORDER
People were waiting for Kyoko from Yuru Yuri for years. Holy crap. GSC delivered even though the series is pretty much over. That's like the complete opposite of a money grab.
And ya Akari pretty much bargain binned. So they are just simply listening to their fans by making Toshino Kyoko. Very nice.
This is like a 180 from the money grab things they've been doing lately, like Renge bonus.
YES MY PETITES
Good think I'm playing the VN.
Is playing even the right verb for that?
Speaking of VN's. Saya WHEN?
With the Star Wars and Elsa nendoroids, I guess Disney made a deal with GSC? Maybe we'll end up getting all the Disney princesses. My nonexistent wallet hurts just thinking about it.
Apparently Kancolle wants all of the money...
Not to mention the Drossels. Fireball is a Disney production. Disney working with GSC isn't new at all, but their acquisition of Lucasfilm has evidently made Star Wars a lot more accessible as a license for figure makers, and I guess Elsa is probably an experiment on their part to gauge the demand for conventional Disney figures.
If Kissshot never gets a scale figure will she get a Nendoroid?
Tomytec is the company that purchased the production of the Nendoroids. GSC still sculpts them and produces them.
It took me awhile to figure out why GSC would make figures of obscure app games or mascots.
Sometimes rich ass app makers, like the producers of Shingeki no Bahamat or NCSoft, decide to use their advertising money to fund production of a figure.
That's what Tomytec is doing here, and why there name is emblazoned on the product.
Nintendo is probably a little more back and forth with GSC requesting they allow them to use their rights, but the opposite scenario happens just as often where companies request a Nendoroid.
Tomytec does this a lot with Nendoroids, these railwars figures aren't the first.
>nendo Elsa with petit Olaf
>planned nendo Darth Vader and Stormtrooper
Well, I can see a bunch of nendos of Disneys characters in the near future and I'm not complaining
To me the Frozen and Metal Gear stuff seems out of place. I don't like it. It's like how people would probably be deterred if Blizzard started implementing CoD modern weapons into World of Warcraft. The continuity feels broken every time they make releases like this, despite all the times they've done it in the past. Star Wars feels ok, and so does stuff like Mickey Mouse. Nendoroids based on digital animation or real humans is not that cool (remember the Linkin Park petites? I thought that was a huge mistake).
I haven't been this excited for a Nendoroid since the Nichjou nedos came out.
Meh, to each their own, if you want an Elsa sitting amongst your Madoka and Mikus that's your opinion. But I think it would make your collection less cohesive and cool. Is that really such a far out opinion?
I like Xmen, but I stop myself from buying Shunya Yamashita's Kotobukiya line because it just doesn't have a place in my collection. I'm not an Xmen collector. Same concept here. I don't think they mesh well in a Nendoroid collection.
That makes zero sense, if anything this will keep GSC alive for the next millennium, hell might even get some other disney princess nendos made, pic fucking related.
I'm still confused how Star Wars and Mickey are okay but MGS and Frozen aren't.
It sounds like a case of "THIS SHOULDN'T GET MADE BECAUSE I DON'T LIKE IT"
I could understand if you just had a problem with them not being anime characters or not being Japanese characters, though Snake gets a pass on that one.
But there's no reason two are acceptable and the other two aren't. Especially when three of them are Disney properties.
Continuing from the previous anti elsa/snake posts, but I could care less if it was Disney. I think a daffy or goofy would be great as a Nendoroid. I also like drossel. I just don't like Elsa like I wouldn't like a Woody or Jack Sparrow. I think it's forced to play up the popularity of the movie. Nendoroids have very specific head dimensions for interchangeability purposes now. I don't think that's suited at all to mimic real life people, or most 3d digital animation. I don't agree with these facebook posters on their reasoning.
Snake and Elsa just seem forced. I don't think the source material is suitable for transferring to Nendoroid format with any type of recognizability. To me RDJ and Don Cheadle just look like two down syndrome kids in Nendoroid form, and that to me creates discontinuity in the line.
Star Wars and Mickey are fine because they translate to Nendoroid form without bringing extra baggage that prevents them from being proper Nendoroids. If it was a Nendoroid of Luke Skywalker I would probably be against it. I just generalized Star Wars because I didn't want to type out Darth Vader and Storm Trooper.
Similarly I like the Spiderman Nendoroid, but hate the Iron Man.
>without bringing extra baggage that prevents them from being proper Nendoroids
>Similarly I like the Spiderman Nendoroid, but hate the Iron Man.
Honestly what the fuck are you talking about.
most of them are compatible with the rest of the line, plus they are chibi/sd versions so the style dont clash, they mix really well between anime waifus.
Honestly the Iron Man Nendo works a LOT better than shit like Luigi or Mickey Mouse.
The Iron Man Nendo at least conformed to the uniform chibi design. Mickey and Luigi are in their exact normal proportions just scaled down. It's pointless to even call them Nendoroids.
What's the big deal, it's not like anyone is forcing you to buy a damn Elsa nendoroid. Am I disappointed it was chosen instead of an anime character I like? Yeah, but that's not the company's fault.
~it's just plastic~
Ya, but you can't even tell that's supposed to be RDJ. That's the problem I see, and why I don't like it. I understand that some people think that's okay, I was just voicing my dissenting opinion. Nendoroids have a limited production capacity, so when they decide to do things like this, they're cutting back in other areas. So it's a valid opinion to voice. I think my opinion is at least logical, if not agreed on.
"Forced" was the key word. Making a Nendoroid based on a popular anime is a lot different from trying to force a design onto a Nendoroid simply because the anime is popular.
>Ya, but you can't even tell that's supposed to be RDJ
That's retarded though. You can't tell most characters by faceplate alone unless they have Steins;Gate eyes or something.
>Pic related is so shit! You can't even tell who it is!
And actually that faceplate reads Tony Stark a lot clearer than pretty much any other faceplate reads their character.
>trying to force a design onto a Nendoroid simply because the anime is popular.
Super Sonico? Sword Art Online? Attack on Titan? This whole industry is based on shameless bandwagon jumping - it doesn't matter if source material is good or not, so long as it sells the merchandise. And it's not like figure companies have tried to deny that, either. Given how Frozen sold stupidly well both in the US and in the rest of the world (including Japan), it makes perfect sense that a figure line whose entire modus operandi is to jump on bandwagons would dip their foot in the Frozen water.
You don't have to like the idea of a Nendoroid Elsa. I couldn't give a shit about her myself. But you're deluding yourself if you think this is the first time GSC has made a figure of something solely because it sold well.
Pretty sure I made it clear that your assumption was wrong the first time. I said that the operative word was forced.
You should respond to people's arguments instead of making one up yourself and pretending like that's the argument now. That's called strawmanning.
>all this B8 talk
I hope you guys aren't falling for all this shit
I still fail to see how, say, Sonico or the Colossal Titan weren't "forced" onto Nendoroid designs any more than Elsa was. One is a titty-monster who resulted in trying to make a Nendoroid look sexy, and the other is a gigantic, skinless monster awkwardly squished down into Nendoroid proportions. They both look fucking ridiculous - far more so than Elsa's Nendo if you ask me. But do you know what made them look at a voluptuous bikini girl and a freaky monster and say, "let's make these into Nendoroids?" Because Super Sonico and Attack on Titan are popular, plain and simple. You know what else is popular? Frozen. Squishing a Disney princess into the Nendoroid style isn't any more "forced" than turning this thing into a Nendoroid - or in the same vein, it's just as forced. So why's it okay with anime characters but not with non-Japanese characters?
I hate FOX so much.
It was out before the real Nendo.
The whole thread all I've been saying is, I don't like these 3d models turned into Nendoroids. First shit I say is Frozen and Metal Gear. Why do all you autists try to turn this into some sort of weeb argument. Metal Gear is Japanese. I don't like any of the Nendoroids fashioned after Anime singers either. Actually I have the Claris Nendoroid petites, because I like them. Because I like ClariS and they are fashioned after anime designs, not 3d.
If you think Sonico and Titan are forced, that's fine. But that's not a valid reason to say 3d onto Nendoroid isn't forced. Because I can use the same shitty argument and say that I think Colossal Titan wasn't forced and it was just a novel design and I think 3d is forced. You're making a logic argument using your opinion as "fact."
Instead of trying to devolve this into some boring shit weeb argument, why not just defend your choice by explaining why you like the Elsa or Snake Nendoroid, instead of being antagonistic and autistic about it.
the good ones are made because the bootleggers somehow stole one of the original molds (the factories are in china so shit like that happens). Obviously that one is a different story.
Look what i got in the mail today from ebay. Only 150 dollars for all of them
>I don't like these 3d models turned into Nendoroids.
Yet you like the Amazing Spider-Man Nendoroid which is both a 3D Model turned into Nendoroid and a forced Nendoroid to tie into the movie.
Everything you say is contradictory.
Just admit you personally don't like Frozen or MGS and get over it.
I'm not sure how to feel about this
on one hand it's fucking frozen
on the other hand if her other expressions are good enough I'm going to be all over this
I also said Star Wars is fine too. That's because it's not using the Nendoroid interchangeable faceplate. It's just a chibi version of their head. All the same features remain. It's not forcing a design on to a template which doesn't match.
The only ones that don't have a downright obvious bootleg are tsumugi and Azusa. The real Azusa almost looks like a bootleg with bad paint app, but the bootleg looks pretty close too. There's a thread on Reddit where a guy took a bunch of pictures of his real but horribly painted Azusa. Looks real to me.
You can have your own opinion about the K-ON anime/manga, I can respect that, but say that the quality of an original product is shitty only because you don't like the source material or considered it shitty is only proving you don't known shit about nendos
Probably next Wonfest. It seems like reskins are the popular thing to do for Wonfest now. Two in a row that they've done, in comparison to 2013 where almost everything was new models.
Black Hanekawa isn't a recolor, though - it'd have to be a whole new figure, what with the pyjamas and long hair and shit. Although yeah, next WonFes sounds about right - they've been taking their sweet time with the Monogatari Nendos, but they seem to be selling, so there's no reason they won't keep that going.
>Shipping out from GSC on the 6th August 2014:
>Good Smile Company - Nendoroid Miss Monochrome
>extra baggage that prevents them from being proper Nendoroids
be sure to buy the live stage sets. I think they're nicer.
Thanks to a relative being able to fly back, and make it to the WonFes event in time. Got two of these heading my way, with one going to a friend.
Was wondering, with the 'hat' this one has, think it'll be possible to place it in one of those simple fish bowls?
I don't regret getting him.
>Dat Aigis Figma
>Mine failed QC or something
Anywho, thanks Kaho-tan!
Her expressions are amazing.
HUGE MAGIC FIST ACCESSORY
season 2 when
And a magic circle to go with the fist so you can recreate the conquering punch even more realistically.
Three faces, conquering fist, magic circle, doll, and various arms. Seems pretty good!
Also pics for the Nendoroid Aircraft Carrier Wo-Class
I like her design and have some shenanigans possibilities
I ill consider to get her
nendo Tooko Amano
I just ordered this from good smile for 60 bucks shipped , which i think im okay with but im wondering why people bought or preordered it from bbts even though it was way more expensive? Is it just to get it sooner since mine apparently wont arrive till november.
Touche. I wasn't insinuating it wasn't worth it. Rather, I couldn't justify a purchase like that as I wasn't head over heels for the show.
No worries man we all have days like that, you don't need to feel bad. I think my biggest reason for picking it up honestly is that I don't have a seyiku or kyaku nendo. So this set seemed like a golden opportunity (plus I do really like the show a lot so yeah there's that too).
I liked it, and Mami is my favorite. I've had a hard time trying to find reasonably priced Nendos of her anymore though.
Mami can be pricey (not as bad as Kyouko though). I bit the bullet and bought her off amazon. And I'm very happy with my purchase. But I can see why the price would be off putting to some... But these are like the one toy I put money into any more( they are small and have great quality for the pricing) Unless I see something special. Just keep watching Mandarake and it's honestly the best way to get stuff that's my advice.
I'm curious if anyone would be interested in joining a split for the Nendoroid More faceplates?
I really want the two on the far left and far right of the middle row, but it seems rather stupid to spend around $50 for only two faces.
Yeah I meant more like brand new from other retailers (I.E. amazon or Nippon Yasan) also I recall her being kinda rare for a bit maybe i'm wrong . But Mandarake is the one I said is best in my previous post but I've seen people who were kinda leery of them even though they have no reason to be.
Ah, yeah, Nendos are my #2 collectible so that makes more sense. Forgot to put that into the equation.
If the opportunity arises I'll pick her up, but I bought off of Manda twice and I guess I just had shit luck because what I got was fucked up.
On another note I'll probably want to off my tiny face from the Nendoroid More faceplates if anyone is interested.
"Look, Miku-chan, He really believs that he can resist the overwhelming buying impulse"
"How naive, Gumako-chan"
Snake will be up for preorder tomorrow.
I think he looks great and I like how your can put him in all his sneaky poses, but I'm still a bit bummed he doesn't come with at least one more face for a surprised or angry expression and a classic alert exclamation piece for him.
>but the inclusion of the blocky PSX-graphics head completely sold me on him.
This, really nice touch that is. Also, no bullshit exclusive so far but we'll see.
Alert piece would've been nice but not a deal breaker for me, and yeah couple more expressions but like above, just slap on the PS1 head and imagine Hayter talking about A SURVEILLANCE CAMERA?!?!
The Nendo Venom Snake sounds keen and I really hope we get a Figma out of it along with the Revomini
Snake's a pretty stoic dude (I especially think of him that way since his facial expression never changed in MGS1). So I'm not all that bothered by no additional faceplates.
As for the alert piece, you can snag one off Revo Big Boss. Which you should get anyway if you're an MGS fan, it's a great figure.
Would anyone be interested in setting up a new group order with the faceplates and pajama bodies? I'd like a couple from each set.
o !! o
x !! !!
x o x
x = don't want
o = want, but don't need
!! = must have
I just want one from each of those rows. The colors don't matter except for the black one.
I'd set this up myself, but I don't really have the money for both sets at the moment.
It's literally a sleeve that goes over the box, like what you find on some fancy DVDs. They've done them for a few exclusives before, like that KanColle alien ship thing from this past WonFes. My guess is that this one will have some new Yoji Shinkawa art or something.
Came here just to ask this question, since I assume you guys would be the most knowledgeable.
What exactly is the appeal of this? I mean, I have some nendos. I get it, they're adorable. But it just doesn't work with fucking Solid Snake. It just looks weird, and not in a cute "haha what an odd combination" way. It's just off-putting. But that's just my opinion, I guess.
What's ruining the combo for me are the marks under his eyes. They did this shit with the Iron Man and another manlier nendoroid and it just looks terrible. I don't think it works with something that's supposed to be cute and it ends up just looking strange to me.
I hated those lines on Tony, but now looking back on it, the lines might not have been at fault at all. I might have just been creeped out as a whole by the bearded chibi face, and the little lines at the corners of his eyes, which made me think of fluttery eyelashes.
Snake...actually looks sort of wrong to me without the lines. Too smooth and fresh and baby-faced. I guess in this case, I DO like the lines. They give him just a little bit of stoic grit somehow.
It's better than /v/ and /a/ where people go into a thread just to tell you what you like is shit. What's wrong with him being curious and wanting to understand what it is others see?
I said that a couple days ago, along with the reasoning that I think it's because 3d transfers to the Nendoroid face really shittily. Everyone fucking had a hissy fit like little girls.
If you think part of the reason you weren't fond of Tony's face was the facial hair, how do you feel looking at the Linkin Park petits? I thought they looked great and it's what made me want to see some more manly looking nendoroids.
I see the fluttery eyes thing you're talking about on Iron Man, but Robert does have some mighty fine eyelashes.
It's just a stupid question. The appeal of the Snake Nendo is the appeal of every other Nendo. Popular (usually Japanese) media + chibi. Why would Snake be any different? He's popular Japanese media in chibi form. If you don't like MGS or the design that's fine but he looks the same as every other Nendo and is going to appeal to fans of MGS just like every other Nendo appeals to fans of that property.
I could understand the buttfrustration if it was like Luigi, Mickey, Link and Mario. Those ones suck. They don't conform to the chibi Nendo style. They just take the characters and scale them down.
But I just really don't see the problem with Snake. He has the same fat chibi face that all the other male nendos have. Look at Levi, Gilgamesh, Eren, Tony Stark.
This is probably that same dude from the other day though that whined about Snake and Elsa ruining the integrity of the Nendoroid line.
>I might have just been creeped out as a whole by the bearded chibi fac
but i find it cute
You're in the minority because those shits bargain binned so hard that retailers probably threw them in the trash.
I think that type of shit is a waste of sculptor time.
Apparently Linkin Park really likes collecting toys because Mamitan said some members visited the LA GSC Office. That's probably why they were made.
I replied here.
It's a different guy. Besides, I'm a huge MGS fan.
> But I just really don't see the problem with Snake. He has the same fat chibi face that all the other male nendos have.
Obviously you have a different opinion. If you don't understand other opinions you don't have to say "this doesn't make sense to me so it's stupid." That's a moron's way out of an argument.
>Apparently Linkin Park really likes collecting toys
Well, duh. They've always been really into toys, dating back to that one old music video where you see the bedroom with the dresser covered with Gundams. They've leveraged their love of toys into various collaborations, including Nendoroid Petits, Transformers, 3A, Gundam, maybe even some more I forgot about.
I'm not into Linkin Park personally, but it's a pretty cool success story re: the toys. I know if I got famous I'd try to get my own personalized toys made.
Don't forget the obvious Zaku/Gundam knock off on their reanimation album art.
It was kind of a thank you to Linkin Park for helping so much with that bad earthquake that happened a few years ago in Japan. The petits were even unveiled at a a charity art show to help victims. LP might not be a band I like listening to, but they seem like really nice people with their charity, Music for Relief, which is to help people all over the world that face natural disasters.
It's sad these didn't do that well because they were sculpted well and even their guitars have a lot of detail.
Wow, I forgot how fucking shitty this cover looked. The perspective isn't even close to right. I wonder who drew this cover? I'm figuring it probably wasn't Mike Shinoda, as he's far better than this, but since he was art director, I wonder why he let it pass.
Like I said, yall got some autistic levels of social awkwardness.
He wasn't making an argument, he was giving an opinion. Yall made it into an argument.
Learn how to respond to people's opinions without being an ass about it. I know that wasn't your intention.
Yeah, I didn't realise how shitty it was until I looked it up just now. It's very teenager deviant art level.
I'd kinda like to see someone in the Gunpla threads kitbash that design up now actually.
Well wikipedia says the art was
Flem - art direction, design
Joseph Hahn - art
>wonder why I haven't received payment request for Saki
>check open orders on all the websites I use, not there
I forgot to fucking pre-order. Son of a bitch. And now she is sold out. Fuck I hate Mandarake so fucking much.
Lets see whats inside shall we?
Shitty phone cam and too lazy to compress/resize I mean... whatcha gon do?
Anyway pictures do not do this set justice it is fantastic.
I really want a Belle.
Or a Nendoroid Petit set of all the princesses with the secret being the poor, unloved Eilonwy.
Shichibee, who sculpts pretty much all the best Nendoroids made a statushit of Kill me Baby. The heads look like they would go perfect on a Nendoroid. Does anyone know how much a statushit would cost to ship SAL? is a 200mm figure like the same as a Nendoroid?
Since seeing the Nendoroid Snake, anyone else been curious if they'd make a MG Rex; or maybe in a petite set with other characters? It's something I've been hoping Koto would do with their D-Style, and give me some Lil' Gear Rex kits; but seeing the the vehicle stuff for Girls und Panzer. Got to admit I've been hit with a bad dose of hope.
SAO is grabage and you know it. Hasblow only cares about the money that bronies are giving them while making sure their cash whore is happy and Disney stopped giving a shit about having a talented animators and just get deviantart users and just prints money on a shallow product AKA Frozen.
If I remember correctly there was some discussion in the last thread that several effect parts work from Bandai and SHF. Check the archive for trio finale and you should find it.
Man, these and the Love Live Nendos are gonna hurt. Doesn't help that I'm buying the figmas too.
Well, Shit!!; In my case it will hurt just because I have plans of getting the figmas and the Cu-poches and now they have announced the nendos
Finally snagged Jack Frost for 5k on Amiami. Now I can't wait until the end of the month for my monthly order.
Shipping out from GSC on the 20th August 2014:
Good Smile Company - Nendoroid Gilgamesh
Good Smile Company - Nendoroid Ryuko Matoi
Good Smile Company - Nendoroid Mako Mankanshoku
Good Smile Company - Nendoroid Asuna: Titania Ver.
Arrival at wholesale stores on the 25th August 2014:
Good Smile Company - Nendoroid Kongo
On sale from the 26th August 2014:
Good Smile Company - Nendoroid Petite: Rage of Bahamut
I am pretty excited about that Gilgamesh.
This is going to be my first Nendoroid since they changed the way faces and neck joints work. How does that work anyway? Do they only give you one neck joint now? Is it supposed to lessen the chance of the joint breaking?
Also, has GSC been really good about releasing figures on time now? When I was buying a lot more than I do now, there was a whole lot of bullshit with some figures being delayed up to six months.
Hopefully they come out as fast as the Kancolle ones, because I plan on buying quite a few...
Makoto, Iori, Chihaya, Ritsuko, Kotori, and Hibiki are all gold in my book.
Preorders open up on the 5th.
Oh holy shit this thing is adorable.
If you're in need of extra Zero Fighters I'm sure there exist some smaller scale ones, like these ones that are on backorder at HLJ, they're 1/700 scale
>I try not to buy toys from series I have no experience with but I think I will make an exception here.
Worry not, the bad guys are the only cool thing in that series
I know right? it's the same thing with the Nico girl
Like, fucking, I've only checked out the first episode of this show (Planning on continuing) and a few other pics, but most of the characters are quite expressive
Maybe it's cause they're in their idol costumes?
Today my Wonfest orders arrived. ALL the boxes were Fucked up. The package came in a cardboard box that was made in LA, and the return address was from LA? It also came with only my order list instead of 4 pages like normal.
Did I get customs screened and repackaged? Is GSC paying people to package and ship straight from the US? Is that why shipping was free for Can and US? The box literally came with two small sheets of butcher paper and there was enough space in the box to fit like 4 nendoroid boxes. When I opened it up all I could say was "WHAT THE FUCK!?!" Literally every figure box is smashed. I don't know what to say. I was also hosting a group order so some people are going to be disappointed.
GSC didn't pack this right? Was it UTC? Iono what to say.
I already taped up my group order shipments and my only order, Snow Miku, came out relatively unscathed. Actually I think the Snow miku boxes were all good because they were the heavy boxes doing all the damage to the Nendoroid Mamis and Armins. It's kind of late so I don't want to take pictures of the box since it'll be noisy ( I already cut flattened and stacked it with my other boxes I toss out ).
Okay, so I just double checked my EMS number given by GSC. It's not even a valid number. That confirms my assumption.
So basically they outsourced the shipping in US and Canada to Ultra Tokyo Connection. UTC then outsourced their shipping to a shipping company called jamn logistics (that's what the return address says) that did a complete shit job.
If I had known they were going to double outsource it I probably would have rather paid the extra 2000 yen shipping. Holy crap. And guess what they're going to do the same thing again for the Summer Wonfest items. Gawd damn it. I ordered by myself but I bought 4 things.
My only experience with Kancolle are some YouTube videos of the Drama CDs, and just from that it's incredibly obvious Kongou is based.
BTW is the game actually fun? I saw Commie made an English patch, but it looks like a huge pain to actually get on a server.
They've arrived! In time for me to leave for a grocery run...
>can't think of a plot
>cute boats doing cute things
Shit writes itself, what are they doing?!
Wish the girls were actually the size of the ships they're based on for giantess fun times.
No, because it could easily end up like blue steel arpeggio. Just some worthless harem anime.
The military girls concept is HUGELY overdone. GuP and Strike Witches are a "once in three years" type of thing. There are dozens of anime that fail miserably. Even KyoAni took a shot at it and crashed and burned hard and they're pretty much the kings of cute girls doing cute things.
