Alternately, use the red version of this (Harmless gift or something like that, can't quite recall), tormod's crypt/bojuka bog, and have a pinger/bolt or something in case they have an instant to burn so they don't insta die. Combo works a tad better in RB for this reason

Voltron!

I'm building a GW Equipment Voltron deck around Mirri, and I could use some help. Taking a peak at what I have, I want to run a hatebears package with things like Hushwing Gryff, Grand Abolisher, Leonin Arbiter, and Linvala, but how many creatures are too many? Which should I prioritize?

Also, how many equipment should I run, and which equipment are the most fun? I'm so stoked to get to use my Jitte, but I've never really done an equipment voltron thing before.

This is my current decklist for Ramos. Still making some modifications to it. I also found a set of Khans Fetchlands in a binder so I'm trying to decide what to cut to fit them in.

Me and a group of friends recently split the commander anthology and I got the Green/Black deck. I've been really enjoying it in group and 1v1 games and am interested in making a couple of other EDH decks.
Mostly I'm interested in making an Arjun deck, a Phenax deck, an Oona deck and a Mixxit deck.
Any recommendations of how much fun these are to play? I'll be using them 99% of the time casually with friends, two who've played for a while and enjoys playing almost always GW, one whos a heavy control player and then my other friend who's as new as I am.
Anything that'd match up well vs those archtypes would be nice because currently I either get rushed down or bullied with my current deck in group games.

Honestly you're better off going with Karador instead of Saffi, if only just for the better sac outlets in Viscera Seer and Carrion Feeder and the wincons of Zulaport Cutthroat and Blood Artist. Yes but remember Ramos will lose all +1/+1 counters whenever you blink him with Deadeye or Displacer so you have to make sure you have the spell colors to recharge him and the mana on-hand without his help.

You can also infinite with him using a Deadeye, a Soulfire Grandmaster and a Jund or Abzan Charm. The combo will +1 you on Green, Black or White mana with each cast of Jund and any color with Abzan. You can then use that for whatever you wish: Tendrils of Agony, Aetherflux Resevoir... whatever, really.

I like to have certain ratios or proportions in mind when I pile out a deck (or organize it by custom categories on tapped out). Ramp, card draw, removal, etc, and decide where I want my deck to sit. For something like daretti I want tons of ramp, all the mana rocks you can get, totalling like 15+, lands in the 30-33 range. Card draw you can go a little lower than other decks because daretti himself will be your main engine, so maybe like 6-8 card draw effects. As a red-colorless deck you'll want generally less spot removal and more mass removal, probably like 6-10 mass removal effects (including ugin and Other permanent based removal), 2-4 targeted removal

Then you can compare your totals to your desired ratio, if you have too much of one thing and not enough of another, you can cut the worst thing in the overabundant category for something you don't have in the lacking category

If all your key categories are at healthy numbers then the rest of your cards are what people tend to call "flex slots", and it's just up to you to mix and match your favorites in those spots

He's a really cool card but he feels like a worse Queen Marchesa. I think the main difference mechanically is that an optimal Marchesa player actively prevents others from drawing, whereas Mathas player probably won't. Maybe the angle there is using draw hate type stuff like Nekusar...?

I think it's pretty stupid, but not building around the commander isn't the worst thing in the world.

Normally you see it for tribes that don't have a good commander in their colours (Why are there no Esper Zombie commanders?) or based around commanders who don't really need to do much to be helpful (Eminence Commanders, Oloro, Theros Gods).

Really most good stuff decks fall in this kind of thing, chances are one of the 99 is going to be the main part of winning with it.

These days when I build a deck, i usually have something in mind I want to do, and a color combination(s) I want, and then once that's established I try to match a commander to it. Sometimes there's isn't a commander that fits perfectly but that's okay, it's more important to me that the 99 is customized to my desires than it is for me to find a deck that already has the perfect commander.

I guess I just don't like building around commanders that much. What I like about commander is the color identity aspect, the singleton aspect, and I also like the card advantage of having a commander. I usually don't like building a singleton deck entirely around a single card though

It was fun and a lot more limited than you expect. Even JtMS wasn't that bad because he just got smacked off the table. Planeswalkers lose a lot of value after some command tax. Bolas was interesting, but again his cost was prohibitive. One game he was countered and never seen again.

They don't kill enemy walkers either. You really underestimate how vulnerable a Walker is in EDH, especially when someone knows its coming. One fat creature with boots sets the Walker black several turns, and shit like Lightning Bolt is a lot more powerful for the same reason.

All in all, it was fun, but we stopped because normal decks are better. Planeswalkers have the distinct weakness of no commander damage with a few exceptions like Gideon, but they're usually color limited to make up for it. We've actually been talking about a format where you pick a Planeswalker and your commander is all versions of that Walker, but they all share a commander tax and you couldn't cast it if you already had one on the table.

I've been to several different LGS to play EDH. And yeah, they look exactly as you'd expect. Not sure why people need to go for the entire stereotypical package but they do. Fat, greasy, smelly, long oily hair, bad teeth, stained clothes, and no social skills. I understand one can be poorly dressed and kinda socially awkward, but must you be literally everything on that list? One of the stores actually posted their official rules, one of which was warning players that they will be asked to leave if their odor is too strong.

Did you even play the Dragons out of the box? It's unplayable garbage. I spent the first 7 turns just building up mana to summon the first actual threat, when the vampire player was already dominating the whole board.

you need an evolving wilds and terramorphic expanse which 30 cents, some of the cheaper pain lands (google it) which are all like 1-2 dollars, and some signets (google boros signet for an example) which are all like 50 cents each. buy them off TCGplayer. you will be prioritising red black and green so base your buys off of that. do be aware that different printings have different values on some cards so dont just buy the first thing that comes up in google, actually put the card into the search bar on TCGplayer to see all the printings

As for creatures, Hellkite Tyrant is a really good one, since it can steal your opponents mana rocks. Also you might want to tone down the big guys, and put in some early threats.

For artifacts, get the signets, and if possible, Chromatic Lantern, it is stupidly good in the deck. Stuff like Quicksilver Amulet is very strong too.

As for lands, aside from fetches and shocklands, you can get painlands, and other types of painlands, like mana confluence. Cascading Cataracts and Exotic Orchard can also fix your mana at a cents cost.
