Infinity is a 28mm scale futuristic skirmish game by Corvus Belli where the a deadly alien race looks a lot like 1990s-era FMV cutscenes.

Why isn't the unknown ranger nearly as auto-include as a veteran Kazak? I know SSL2 is amazing but does that outweigh chain of command or a molotok specialist so much?

They thought that they where crude and funny. Ancient Greeks apparently thought that a man with a large penis would be automatically stupid and ill mannered. It was also thought that men with big dicks couldn't father children as easily. Thus small penises where seen as signs of virility.

athenias is not the same as greek.Spartans loved the long dick and they true greeks.
>>
>>55379536
It's ambiguous. Because the statement of life not changing really (even improving) is pretty fair, until you get to the suspicious point of oh you know, every citizen receiving an 'upgraded' brain implant. The fervor the Sygmaa troops have also is a bit out there, they're much more adamant than even the Morats and Shasvastii are at why they want to burn down the Tohaa.
>>
>>55380188
Their obsession with subverting parts of Tohaa culture (some of which would actually make them more useful to the EI) seems to come from a genuine place. The EI doesn't seem to like directly controlling things on a large scale, probably because it takes a bunch of processing power and her touch is effectively poison to any possibility of Transcendence.

Comlogs aren't necessarily a brain implant, I believe.
>>
>>55380786

It's good because it allows him to hunt and murder Camo and Memeitism units and be a threat to TO Camo.

The Sniper's range band is weird with Forward Deployment since the range band wants you to be further back, especially if you are hunting Camo units who have Infiltration.

At the same time, you could look at the Heavy Pistol as his primary weapon to camp objectives and the Sniper as a weapon of opportunity.
>>
You're playing against Shock. Your opponent wins the roll and picks deployment, you have to set up first on the crappy side. After you deploy your opponent sets down a link of regulars with 2 multisniper sappers. They are on an elevated position that overwatches most of the board. It will be difficult to advance without dealing with them first. You still have your reserve model to place. How do you crack this nut anon?

>>
>>55381223
The terrain set up is supposed to have a good/bad side. And having 2 sapper snipers that can see a large portion of the board is pretty easy since they bring their own cover. We usually don't play super dense so snipers can work pretty well.
>>
>>55381290
I've only brought her once when I played combined, I was going second and she just died. I need to try her out more. That's definitely an answer.
>>
>>55381292
I'm starting to dislike 'goodside-badside' since the advantage of deployment choice is starting more and more to be the best scenario. Think of it this way.

>Pick deployment
>Get best side
>See opponent's deployment
>Counter-deploy as needed
>See opponent's reserve
>Place my reserve

Your enemy before all of this has a choice
>Get alpha striked or surrender the last turn of the game

Even though several scenarios favor 2nd player, there's always strength in going first and forcing a defensive deployment if you know what you're doing. A blind defensive deployment is even more devastating.

When in doubt, pick deployment.
>>
>>55381223
Terrain shoukd be a little unbalanced , so the picking sides isn't so irrelevant, even with deployment order. There is of course a point it's too much. If one side is full of cover and sniper towers and the other has two small rocks and a cabin, it's probably a bad game.

>>55381043
Depends on so many factors you didn't include in your post. If both snipers see most of the board, it's a bad terrain setup.
>>
What's your favorite Overdron profile?

HRL for cheap?
Dual Sniper for long range impact template shenanigans?
HMC for winning face to faces?
>>
>>55381324
The intent wasn't that they can both see the whole board. Just that you'd need to deal with at least one of them to advance. I just kinda wanted to see what people bring in their lists that'd deal with such a threat. I'm contemplating bringing a Moira in my lists because one of my opponents fields this link regularly and I've found it's a huge pain in the ass.
>>
>>55381337
HRL or HRMC. I don't know why they made sniper profile or the model.
>>
>>55381323
>I'm starting to dislike 'goodside-badside' since the advantage of deployment choice is starting more and more to be the best scenario.

I tend to agree with you. Deployment is usually a huge advantage and you often want to go second. I've only met a couple people who will pick second turn after having to deploy first.
>>
>>55381337
They're all good. I was initially skeptical of the plasma sniper since it's in many ways just a more expensive HRL, but plasma is such a fucking nasty ammo type that even it has its place imo.
>>
Why, yes. Let's all start to play with mirrored box terrain. It is, after all, only fair.
>>
>>55381371
But you have Unidrons for that already.
>>
>>55381421
Burst 3 with albedo is pretty stronk, especially with BS13 to compensate for the lack of assisted fire. I wouldn't use the Unidron as an aggressive unit outside of particular situations (mostly to take out enemy snipers before sending in shorter ranged rambos), whereas the Overdron is a solid rambo in and of itself.

This is all vanilla, mind you. It may have less merit in OCF with Unidrons being linkable.
>>
>>55381411
There is a clear difference between playing with a random yet fair terrain distribution, and being able to deploy a nest of multi-snipers and sappers so that they can zone the board right from the get-to.

If you do want heavily skewed terrain and deployment, then agree upon it before the game starts and you deploy your units.

How do you Vanilla CA anon? I want to play with those sexy aspects but that low order count hurts. What do you use for specialists? Are the imetrons reliable enough that you'd take them in your main group? What do you use for ARO?

This is a list I'm thinking about.

What? You can play whatever you damn well pleas, though the frogs and shas could do with an update.

I think you misunderstood. Many units in Onyx and Morats are only good in those sectorials because vanilla options are usually better. Vanilla CA is imo best CA power wise.

Meant for>>55381978
>>
>>55381940
Shrouded are fantastic if you need specialists. Just dump one or two into a list and you can push button good.

I tend to limit myself to one Imetron in the main group. Keeps things going relatively smoothly when everything fucks up horribly.

You're picking well for ARO. Noct ML and Q Drone are the kings, but Maakrep sniper, Soggy feuerbach, and buffed Unidron ML/sniper are honourable mentions as well.

>>55382028
Eh, Morats sort of have that problem but all the units that are good in Onyx are still fine in vanilla. The only ones that really take a hit in effectiveness are Nexus and Unidrons because no links.
And even the monkeys still have great shit like Sogarats, Rasyats and Daturazi, and to a lesser extent Vannies, Kurgats and Suryats. Maybe even Rodoks on a good day.
The only bad ones are the ones based entirely around linking (Oznats and Raktoraks) and the ones overpriced and outclassed by Shas/Sygmaa equivalents (Zerats and Yaogats). Oh, and Raicho, but nobody really cares about that whore.
>>
for better or for worse I just ordered my first models for this game

I decided not to buy a whole list worth of models at once, and instead just a couple blisters to paint up while I practice learning the rules. None of the models I just bought might ever see a real game, from what I've read about those units, but maybe they will be fun to paint anyway.

>>
>>55382163

I'm looking at Raicho. I'm kind of digging a TAG that will never fail a Guts Roll and (in sectorial) will never have to worry about Loss of Lieutenant.

Not only are you shoving your Suryat Lt down their throat but also a TAG.
>>
>>55382956
Just take Soggy for a ride instead. He's just as much of a good time for half the price.

Raicho is only good for bullying.
>>
>>55383038
That's why the pilot looks so confused and frustrated. Always on the lookout for Morat wedgie attempts.
>>
>>55383038
Soggy is slow and pray EI the opponent won't bring anything targeting BTS.
>>
>>55383301
He's not slow. He's not quite TAG speed but 4-4 movement is totally acceptable, especially when you can fit a couple more orders in to compensate.

BTS can be a bit of a concern when it comes into play, but aside from hacking (which fairy dust can handle) there isn't much that targets it. Against Tohaa or maybe JSA I might switch out ol' Soggy for a Suryat haris.
>>
>>55383478
Well, breaker rifles are becoming pretty common.
>>
Question:

What size are objective markers?
I've looked over the new ITS 9 rules and some core book scenarios, but didn't find any clear statement on the base size of objectives.

Antennas seems to be 40mm base and beacons/panoplies are 25mm?

Typical way of dealing with defensive links is Smoke + MSV2 or some shotgunner infiltrator/drop troop.
Or just smoke up the field and go for the objectives, hiding your guys at the end of the turn.
Riot Grrl Haris with ML could make short work of one of those though.

There's at least 4 countries on Bourak IIRC. I remember Sultanate, Califate and Khanate.
>>
>>55384548
Not really. There's what, 6 in the whole game?
Locusts and Zhayedan could be trouble, I suppose, but CSU and Zhanying don't exactly leave me shaking in my boots. And if a Samaritan or Massacre+friends are going after your big dude you have more to worry about than some piddly little breaker rifle.

Besides, when breaker is involved it's not BTS3 vs BTS6, it's BTS2 vs BTS3. Not a particularly impressive difference. Viral and E/M are the much bigger threats, and the latter tends to be best defeated by dodging (which Soggy happens to be very good at). Viral is definitely a counter to Sogarats, which basically just means you maybe send in someone else to deal with Loup-Garous/Lasiqs/Sforza/Lunah and take Suryats instead against Tohaa.

>>55384866
Smoke combo is only really useful for making sure other link members don't interfere.
And I'm not sure I like the chances of burst 2 BS13 against burst 2 BS15 on your active turn. If you win you've really fucked the link, but that's a big if.
>>
How do I get my hands on alternate weapons and arms? I want to make a tuareg doctor amongst other things.
>>
>>55385032
That's why you go with a high burst weapon on the Intruder.
Also don't forget you still get Cover and Camo bonuses while negating their Mimetism. So that's BS13 vs BS9.

From the fluff they seem to be quite autonomous, with their own political system but a nationwide parlament + presidental cabinet.
Military is also national, with soldiers be assigned to the provincial army, who supplement their forces with some specialities. (Mercs for Funduq and the caval; hassassin with the sand people)

Ew. We have Zerats for a reason, the finest regiments in the Supremacy shouldn't need to lower themselves to pushing buttons.

Though in that case I suppose it makes sense for Raicho to be pushing buttons, considering they're barely more than glorified tankers pretending to be a real infantry regiment.

5.5 SWC | 300 Points
>>
>>55387296
My gut reactions:
- you've got 0.5 extra SWC, put the flamer Grunt on infiltration duty.
- kick the extra Marauder (personally I'd get rid of the sniper and make the haris a HFT+spec+HRL) and take an extra Grunt (core link likes a spare member, haris is less necessary) or Hardcase (or add points to the MInuteman and take a chain dogteam)
- definitely switch the weapon on the Maverick. Either a Molotok or LRL/SMG for blitzkrieg, or rifle for highly mobile spec that you can put in supp fire.

It has room for improvement but it's not shit, def playable as is.
>>
>>55387296
Needs rocket bikes.
>>
>>55387733
>>55387725

Rocket bike sounds cool but I only own the army pack maverick. Then again, its not like the other ones have a HRL either

But MSV1 sniper marauder doesn't sound like a decent standalone dude? Would help with popping Nisses assumably.
>>
>>55387296
I don't forsee any real problems with this list.

Something topheavy like a tag might cause you problems but matchup shit is matchup shit.

It need Foxtrots to soften up the midfield but that is their job, and survivors push buttons.

Seriously heavy armor HI might be a problem but that is a lot of mines. Holy shit.
>>
>>55388664
I'm hoping the linked molotok and HMG can handle the heavy stuff but yeah, it aint no linked minuteman AP HMG.
>>

Depends on the faction, I play Onyx and "Alpha Strike or die" is a way of life. The other day I was playing Antenna Field and went first after having won the Lt roll, spent the first two rounds tying on consoles while I murdered everything, third round took middle consoles and one in the enemy DZ, all my opponent had left was a Fusilier, won by 6 points iirc.

Made my first custom terrain to play on. I really need to add stairs and I want to add a catwalk as well as ladders to the roof before I paint and pretty it up. I was thinking of it as a small office space with a helipad on the roof and a small garden with a bench in the underneath. Really need to figure out how to build decent stairs leading to a door on second level. Domaru is wondering how the Zuyong got up there.

Ever since I found out about them I have been using them. Aside from the website being a bit of a mess for finding shit. They are great 12/10 use for all my orders. They are in Fortworth, TX.
So I get shipments from them in Chicago Via USPS in like 2-3 days depending on the shipping date and time. Not as good as the 2 day I was getting from Mini mart until they went to fex-ex where they ship stuff to the state north of me to then hand it off to USPS to ship it back south.

Also I feel like the points system they have and free shipping on like anything even a single blister. With the more items you buy the higher % off you get off your order is just way too good.
>>
>>55388884
They are Texas based and ship USPS priority. Have used them a lot, highly recommend. Only downside has been if you preorder something, they tend to get their stuff a little later than other places.

The utility of a multi can't be overlooked. That being said I guess all I can say is that we probably play TAGs differently. I do love the Soggy, but I think you're denying yourself a tool that Maf had access to.
>>
>>55389492

Considering that in ITS 9 the Raicho is Damage 16 AP/Shock with its HMG and the Sogarat is stuck at Damage 15 normal there's a pretty big difference. Raicho can challenge a TAG in cover, Sogarat really can't.

Well shit. Your catboy appears to have been incapacitated by the stabbing.

The Moderator Corps has been informed of the assault on an officer, and will deploy a squad to apprehend the suspect so he can be spaced.

Melee is totally viable. I get my swiss guard's ass kicked by melee more often than he gets shot to death, that's for sure.

It's just specialized. It's not efficient, but it's the right tool for many jobs. Because the stuff that's 'good' at melee are VERY GOOD at it compared to stuff that's not.

It's a hell of a lot better than it was in N2, that's for sure. You can't exactly base your army around it, but it does its job well and isn't ridiculously expensive for its utility like it used to be.
>>
>>55404372
Back when I played even the armies who were good at melee only used it as an afterthought. I don't need an all melee army or anything like that but I would like a unit or two who stabs first and shoots second instead of shoot first and maybe stab second like when I played

>>55404510

>>
>>55404510
Ajax is actually a pretty good shot. It's only against TAGs or units with lots of negative modifiers stacked on when it's HAMMERTIME.
>>
>>55404470
There aren't many units in game that would forgo shooting entirely in favour of melee. Bow ninja, perhaps, and animal-like aliens. There are more situation when CC is more viable choice and it's easier to get there with most specialized units.
>>
>>55404543
Ajax is indeed ALEPH character, a Greek demigod with one of the meanest CC attacks in game.
>>
>>55404470
Plenty of good CC specialists. Even most warbands still prefer to shoot a lot of the time, but against big things that shrug off chain rifles CC is highly valuable for killing them, or failing that tying them up for a while.

There's a few that almost exclusively prefer to stab first and shoot second, usually because their guns suck or their delivery system doesn't allow for shootbangs. Rasyats and Ninjas spring to mind.
>>
>>55404648

Ajax isn't a demigod.
>>
>>55404252
It's High Risk, High Reward. Your melee guys are basically guaranteed a hit, they just need to get there. But with all the Smoke, Hyper-Dynamics, Kinematica and Stealth they usually can.
Just don't go meleeing enemy melee units, especially if you're a Knight facing off a Ninja. Their kung fu is stronger.

Last game Saito Togan one-shot my Tikbalang in melee. Wasn't fun.

Dumb question here, are the Tohaa Triumvirate and the Tohaa Trinomial the one and the same?
>>
>>55411358
No. The Trinomial are the ordinary government of Runohaa and its colonies, while the Triumvirate are the Tohaa Illuminati. Incidentally, the Trident are the actual Tohaa armed forces, the Trigon are the pro-Trinomial resistance faction in the Sygmaa territory, and the Trihedron are the Sygmaa government.

Trinomial is the nation of Tohaa as a whole, while the Triumvirate is basically the Tohaa illuminati.
There's also the Trident, which is the military force of the Trinomial.
