Some doofus lord thought it would be a blast to have a couple of giant monitor lizards as pets, then they got out one day and now the stupid things have been breeding.
They're similar to other Varanids like the Nile Monitor lizard, but while Nile Monitors get to be about 2 meters long, Giant Monitors get up to 10 and weigh up to 1200 kilos.

I'm seeing enough meat to feed whole village for weeks, just there for the taking. Maybe the hide and claws would be of some use too.

Make sure they're not venomous. We saw these things on some hell continent down south and they were venomous. If they're venomous, well good fucking job, asshole. Now we gotta get the antivenom.
Luckily they'll probably just go after livestock first, maybe some deer, before moving on to humans. Try to find some warmer areas they'd hide out in, start setting up bait. Then we call for the expert.
