Prodigious size alone does not dissuade the sharpened blade.

I like the classic D&D approach, though - the higher up you go in the hierarchy (was it solidified into a code in only 5e fluff?) the more reasonable, smart and capable they were, with some narrative quirks to each kind and then extending into Titans and Empyreans (which were practically lesser divinities, being higher-up divine vassals)..
>>

"giant" is just a term that refers to one of dozens of different creatures within my setting. None of which are related.

Giants and other human like races are the result of gods or spirits breeding with mortals. They live usualy in small communities and keep to themselves knowing that most people will be frightened but also can't really harm them.

Hey. That's enough of that talk.

I use the old Nephilim story. Giants are the descendants of humans and angels. The first generation was the strongest but least plentiful with each getting weaker after down to ogres, who exist in the millions and are essentially humanoid bears.

The giants waged a multi millenia long war against heaven, led by the first generation of Nephilim and the seconomy generation Titans. Hell is a prison for the strongest of them, but their existence has corrupted their wardens.

I can't really see Giants working well in 'ye olde' medieval setting most Fantasy is in. Way easier to do in science fiction.

If I had to put them in, I'd make an Alice in Wonderland type area. Suddenly find yourself in a place where everything is too big, but there is a ton of Bug and Rodentfolk around

That's pretty much how it's always been. The weakest races of giants were basically retarded cavemen, and the strongest races had tons of at-will spells.

Loosely incorporated tribals with prodigious strength beyond their size, but hampered by a hilariously poor birth and maturation rate and inability to overcome the superior numbers and tricks of other races. Overwhelmingly peaceful, if territorial creatures Very generous when catering to their medium-sized or smaller guests. They do have a noteworthy presence as mercenaries or bandits where their strength can be put to good use, and have a tendency to send their earnings home.

They tend to make themselves useful to local governments by driving out less desirable nasties and maintaining wilderness pathways. Some giants impose taxes on whatever wants to use their safe, monsterless roads, others just take solace in the fact that they probably won't be exterminated as long as they are keeping the owlbear population down.

>How do you use them?

Sure.

>'Giants', 12ft-15ft
Almost always played straight as "Dire Humans": maybe they grew too big because they spent all their exp in stats instead of class levels, but usually they're ostracized from their communities for being too difficult to feed and deal with, sometimes, though, they can become productive members of society in places with better access to food & resources etc. Not naturally dumb, just ignorant.

>Ogre, 8ft-10ft
Big, fat, Orcish giants with cast-iron stomachs and exceptional bushwacking & culinary skills. Depicted as being a lazy, gluttonous, inconsiderate, kind of 'evil' that's destructive to their environment if only for lack of thought. They enjoy enslaving and bullying other smaller races (typically orcs) into doing their work and can become quite affluent and industrious if allowed to really gang up. Occasionally good at magic.

>Trolls, 4ft-30ft
No two trolls look the same, their regenerative genetics make um' all look weird: (most) have tusks, some have horns, some are covered in fur, some look like hippos, some have 2 heads- some have 5 heads. The only consistent traits they have are regeneration, that they NEVER stop growing, and their lethal weakness to the sun- which can cause them to combust or turn into stone. Trolls are dumb, semi-sapient, cannibals and are a little Attack On Titany during the winter when the nights are longer.

>Cyclops, 15ft-20ft
Socially awkward, maritime/tropical NEETS, that compulsively avoid any social interaction or contact with other beings. Extremely bashful and easily talked over, all they want to do all day is work on their hobbies: gardening, herding, and making exceptionally well-made-artisan goods. Naturally androgynous, they're exceptionally beautiful if you can get past the one large eye.
>Cyclopskin, 7ft-10ft
Much smaller island-dwelling cousin of the bigger mainland Cyclops: little less awkward, still super pretty, but now they're tan.
>>
>>55318048
Giants are very old humans.
Proper humans never stop growing, we only whither and die because we are cursed. Once the curse is broken a person can become very powerful and wise or corrupt and degenerate.
The worst giants are those that used their immortality to satisfy their bestial desires entirely and purposefully scourged themselves of empathy or reason.

Dwarves used to be giants. They lived in the sky and ruled as gods. However they destroyed grace through greed and vengeance.
So they shrunk, and in their shame they hid beneath the earth.
>>
Great master craftsmen who made the best of everything. Unfortunately extinct due to being unable to reproduce, even with magical help.

More Giants, if only because I really like Giants.

>'Bronze' Colossus, 25ft-35ft
Absolutely massive metal-skinned giants, that aren't made of 'bronze' per-say, but an organic metal that tarnishes silver as they age. They're intelligent and powerful and love guiding smaller races to build massive civilizations, either out of a duty to order or because they'd like to godzilla-style squash them later. Colossi are renowned for their amazing looking butts.

>Minotaur, 7ft-10ft
Impulsive and classist, Minotaurs will form into a strict caste-based society if left by themselves with no one else to enslave or 'bull'y. Minotaurs love religion, pyramids, mazes, labyrinths, they're fantastic architects and builders and are naturally very analytically intelligent. Minotaurs fucking HATE LABOR and will devolve into the murder-hobos people know them for if they can't get someone else to do x, y, and z for them.

>Ettin, 8ft-13ft
Half giant, half cyclopeskin, literally, they're conjoined at the torso with two upper bodies. Typically very handsome, but also very weird looking since one twin can be a cyclopskin and the other a giant- though dubs are more common. Ettin are gifted and skilled, often only because they seek the affirmation of their parents who in the case of giants often ostracize them or cyclops who are usually woefully unprepared to emotionally support them. Ettin can even find themselves as lords and even kings of giants (especially ogres, whom they find particularly EASY to manipulate) if things get out of hand.

>>55324704
Thanks, Anon- Cyclops are my favorite giants, but I hate seeing them as dumb, ugly, brutes when 'all' giants just seem to be dumb ugly brutes... Especially when mythological cyclopes are so interesting.

I could see modern giants being rustic folk who live on the edge of society. Probably in very tiny communities of only a handful of families. Maybe a few in city as dockworkers. Of course it depends on the size. Fuck huge giants might be an issue but the 15 ft tall type would have more options.

Basically giants are born one of two ways, the first is from a mutation in humans that causes them to grow uncontrollably (which is actually how giants formed originally), and the second as a result of, well, giants having sex with each other.

However, they require enormous food supplies to live, and all the crops are way too small for them, so they generally do one of two things, either they move to lands with extremely large creatures like mammoths where they can hunt and eat to feed themselves, or they capture and enslave humans, treating them as cattle to be eaten after they collapse of exhaustion from work.

Giants in human societies typically find themselves in one of 4 positions, entertainers for the local colosseum, a soldier in the army, a pack mule for the merchants and traders, or a roving barbarian eating humans in the countryside.

Right now there's 3 major giant kingdoms, the frost giants in the north which consist mostly of exiled giants from other kingdoms who hunt the local wildlife and deal with the necromancers who keep trying to kill them, the Amazons of the jungle island who are threatened with extinction after the male population was killed by a human army (and have taken to extreme measures such as kidnap and rape to replace their population), and the slavers of the plains region who took over the local kingdom and have been raising its serfs as their own slaves and cattle.

No, as a human don't expect to be able to take on a giant by yourself, they are very powerful and require more clever solutions to kill.

Also yes you can and should have sex with them.

If your DM is kind of cool with that sort of thing, you might want to try a Literal Belt of Giant's Strength?

5e might not have Strength modifiers for Size Categories, but your Carrying Capacity doubles for each one over Medium, so it's not like such an Item would be impractical.

I know giants are officially statted beings in DnD and all but I'd like to do something different with my game if they ever get that far. (with only two sessions played and the next one not in sight it'll probably stay a daydream)
I have this concept of unassailingly big giants. A monster whose living room is a dungeon and that can't be hurt by just personal combat, only larger siege weapons. Monsters that are hazards rather than enemies, with which the challenge is to avoid detection.
>>
>>55318048
Troll like and mutant looking, nomadic hunter gatherer level of tech, using mammoths and other beasts of that size and mentality as pack animals, overall not bothering with the small people unless bothered first. though "revenge bands" exist and lay siege to human or other settlements who they think killed on of their own, this can go on for generations.

We have a belt like that, but we gave it to the Paladin since I'm maxed out on strength already. I'm looking more for extra reach, and just largeness in general. Having more carrying capacity and leverage when moving big things is a plus. My barbarian makes it known that they hate having magic cast on them, and is secretly ashamed that the few times enlarge was cast on them out of necessity, they loved it. We found an optional rule in the dmg for cleaving, which I abuse to cut through armies of looks while the rest of the party takes out the big bads. More reach means more fun

I think it's appropiate for giants to be some sort of proto-gods. If you go far back enough the concepts were basically interchangeable.
Gods in fantasy are usually more inspired by organized religions, with clerics and domains and such. Giants could be the shamanist counterpoint to that. A giant might be a really old oak tree, you just can't perceive its human form unless you visit it in your dream or enter its foiliage on a specific day of the year.

Like what?
Personally I'm always wondering about the physics of that scale. Even if you take the body functioning as it does on human scale for granted via magic, there's still the clothes. When you get that big cloth will just tear itself apart, it'd act like wet tissue paper from the giant's perspective. Conversely, metal would be comfortably pliable and soft. In fact, their version of silk might be chainmail of giant steel rings. To humans impregnable but to giants nothing more than some cover for modesty that is easily torn. And how do they get this material, do they mine it themselves? They probably don't have giant trees to make giant tools out of. It seems like they'd be forced to b stuck in primitivity, unless they can get human slaves with a great amount of industrialisation.
I saved this obvious fap bait because I thought it was clever how the humans have architecture that seems to be build to allow giants to stand on it without it caving in and the giantess is wearing a little fortress on her body. That's probably where the evil sorcerer lives.

Well the size of that giant is a little exaggerated for me, I'd say if humans are smaller than ankle height to them then they have become too big, a giant that big is something I'd expect out of a god.

But moving on, for clothing I generally have my giants wear thick animal hides, sometimes using the skins of mammoths, whales, or even the scales of dragons, as their covering. They tend to use primitive weapons like wooden clubs, but frankly that's more than enough to crush a man for them.

But that's just one way of doing it. Other ways include:

1) Making them magic/gods who can ignore the physics of the situation and can create metal and clothing out of thin air

2) Having them come from alternate dimensions where their universe is much larger (or in some cases, smaller) as scouts and explorers. Most of them leave after seeing that the land is far too small to support them, but some of them get a power trip and have to be taken down with force.

3) Making it so that all the problems you mentioned actually are serious problems for them. They barely get any metal in great quantities, so they fight each other over what they have, food is scarce so they're constantly migrating, a lack of clothing necessitates that they live in the most comfortable of climates, and so on. A giants life is typically short and miserable.

4) Giants aren't big, humans are just really small. For some reason we assume that humans are the standard height and so everyone bigger than us is "giant" and everyone smaller is "tiny", but it's entirely possible that WE are the small race in the universe.

I can't really articulate why, but I really hate this idea.

See, I guess I'm not really sure because like, to me the stuff you're outlining largely isn't fetish inspired. That's just...the normal stuff that'd come up with worldbuilding for giants.

I put them in because it's my fetish, then i drop that like a sack and do the appropriate work. Usually.

Also, your idea is awesome and I may have to steal it for something.

Yeah, even though it's fap bait there's some interesting implications to it. Ontop of what you mentioned, I'm also liking the treasure room on the other side of the portal. Like this whole world is just a trinket in her vault.

It's probably one of the weaker ideas, it's certainly been done before and isn't really all that original. Half of the Rick and Morty universe just kind of runs on this idea.

>but that would have implications about the physics human beings operate on, what happens to water tension, harvestable plants, insects?
That's really up to you to do it however you see best. Maybe the humans are still the same size relative to the rest of the universe (so water tension and physics isn't a problem for humanity) but the flora and fauna is gigantic. Maybe the soil or water is magic. Maybe all the giants or tiny humans literally run on magic, and heck maybe that causes one or the other to either be really good at magic or not be able to use it at all. There's a lot of ways to go about this, assuming your players care enough to want an explanation.

One thing that settings often do is make giants basically bigger barbarians, but when you think about it they should be mages. That would explain how they can get giant equipment (transfiguration), how they can operate at such a size (magic), and how they likely became big in the first place.

In my fetish setting, the giants are descendants of the gods from a time when the gods walked the earth in towering physical forms. Over millennia, wars were fought, many giants died, and the gods left the material plane, but a few giants remain to the present day.

Beyond their physical size, they are masters of magic relating to their parent god's domain, making them very formidable enemies. In the places they can still be found, they usually rule cities or terrorize the countryside, and the discovery of a giant in a region that has none would cause a huge shift in politics, as the different kingdoms try to get him/her on their side in one form or another.

That's fair enough. Perhaps the river or soil is magic, causing the local population and plants to grow to gradually grow to enormous size when they consume it over the course of several generations. However, they can't leave that location lest they lose the source of their food and their future generations in other lands gradually lose the height that the river and soil granted them.

Yes, over the course of several generations they too would grow giant. Although good luck trying to do that, many races have tried to exploit the land's magic to give them immense power but the indigenous population have always fended them off thus far (with the help of a few paladin orders dedicated to keeping the peace). Although if you did prove yourself worthy perhaps you would be allowed to stay in the company of the giants and raise a family.

The native Felaryans who live in the wilderness do benefit from the soil. On top of not aging, they tend to be taller than offworlders and more physically capable as well.

Only Cyclopes seem to get any kind of gender-equal, cute boy, art, but even then it isn't western Cyclopes; it's almost always done by the Japanese or Koreans who have a 'very' different folklore attatched to Cyclopes than the west.. Like, I think they sell Tofu or something as children, stay young/adolescent looking their whole lives, and the worst thing they do is tip livestock over ( they're large enough as adults) and barge into peoples houses to take baths.. Since they live up in the mountains and don't have baths of their own.

A giant city would probably be split into the big people districts, medium sized people districts, and tiny people districts. Of course you could always travel to a different district, but you can't live there and any accidental deaths that occur as a result of traveling to a larger district of your own free will shall not be subject to the normal laws for stepping on someone.

The market would look like a weird mish mash of all three, where the side alleys act as the market for the tiny people, for various fairies, minimen, and gnomes to look for wares. The buildings themselves will of course act as the market for normal size people, and the rooftops of the buildings will be where the wares for giants are sold.

In that case it starts to depend on how magical your giants are. Are most of their biological needs handwaved? If not, I image they'd simply have to be nomadic in order to thrive; No stationary farm could feed a city of 'realistic' giants. In that case, the 'cities' might be more trading outposts and waystations that seem like cities to the tiny folk due to their cyclopean scale. Perhaps the tiny folk run the places, since they can exist in a set location without wrecking the local ecosystem. In that case, the 'Giant City' would actually rarely have many giants in it at any given time.

I was thinking more like- Do you remember how empty Minas Tirith looked in Return of the King (because it had been evacuated, but never mind)? Did you ever see the miniatures with real people standing beside them? Pic related.

Of course the scale's off- The giants would be able to fit in the city- but I was imagining it as far more than a hut.

>Are most of their biological needs handwaved?
You might as well handwave them, really. It doesn't make a lot of sense to ignore the structural problems with giants but not the metabolic ones.

Size-based residential zoning makes sense. You want to preserve the advantages offered by differently-sized people working together, so a mixed-sized market and some mixed-size industry makes sense. Administration is a tricky one; presumably you want your municipal government to serve everyone, but how will that work for, say, a courtroom? Parks might as well be built to giant scale; the plants are the same size for everyone. For transit, I like the idea of giant-sized roads and a human-scale subway system.

Well, think about the threads. Who inhabits them? Primarily tabletop gamers, and tabletop gamers who like to have anonymity on the internet. Right off the bat we have people who are known for their vivid imaginations (for the DMs and character makers, artists and such anyway). But let's go a bit farther.
They must have a reason they chose 4chan, either because they are much like the "stereotypical" denizen of the site, or the love the concept of being anonymous. In either case, both of these individuals are likely "atypical" psychologically in terms of regular society as it is.

Finally, They post most often in giant threads, dragon threads, and bio-dungeon threads, showing that they must have some interest in it in order to click on it.

Tl;dr, stats says people here are likely micro/macrofags, vorefags, unbirthers and the like.

This, sir, is exceptionally well done. Hope you don't mind if I take this to be used elsewhere at some point. If nothing else than a starting ground for races. I agree, giant races are often all too similar and dull in modern fantasy. Mythology has such cool things to stem from.

You put an interesting twist on the Minotaurs. Kind of weird that they are quick to act/anger, caste based, and analytically gifted. Actually fairly intelligent AND strong, but often lazy, and try to think up ways to get out of doing work? I assume, in a minotaur only society, the lower castes put up with doing labor because the higher castes (stronger/bigger/smarter ones, right?) can keep them from going murder-hobo.

You forgot the part where Bronze Colossi are especially belligerent to dwarves, and suffer crippling weaknesses to small fluffy things.

Also... your Cyclopses/Cyclopskin are one of my favorite takes on them. Stems from their industrious/artisan roots of greek myth, while also keying in their "less favored child complex" when Gaia/Uranus kicked them into Tartarus.
And tall (but not huge), athletic, tan, gorgeous, awkward, talented cyclopes girls...

>I agree, giant races are often all too similar and dull in modern fantasy. Mythology has such cool things to stem from.

Thank you, Anon, your kind words mean a lot to me.
Generally speaking I really love Giants, they're my most favorite of fantasy races, but I often find them very uninspired or just... superficially different cereal-box-style "large brutes". From a "design theory" perspective, I find it more interesting to write and base them off the folklore and mythology already available before applying contextual-world building to them.

> I assume, in a minotaur only society, the lower castes put up with doing labor because the higher castes (stronger/bigger/smarter ones, right?) can keep them from going murder-hobo.

Minotaurs use a combination of religion, bureaucracy, and good old fashioned class struggle to undermine their own fellow Minotaurs: farmers and laborers are the lowest caste and find themselves stuck in a situation where often the work they do is only just enough to feed themselves with the ability to get 'more' out of their lives not only unfeasible, but also seen as heretical. Minotaur peasants can be impoverished, gaunt, pathetic creatures, but they'll still see themselves as infinitely superior to the "wild & free" feral cannibals outside of society.

>You forgot the part where Bronze Colossi are especially belligerent to dwarves, and suffer crippling weaknesses to small fluffy things.
100% exactly where I got them from.

Aye, folklore has so many interesting things to explore. You already did some Norwegian stuff with the trolls. Good way to justify how there is practically no consistency with trolls, even within a single culture. I need to go watch Troll Hunter again, that movie was great.

Looked into any celtic folk stuff yet? They've got some pretty interesting, and honestly untapped monster races and mythos there. Formorians would be my initial thought for giant race, at any rate.

>Formorians would be my initial thought for giant race, at any rate.

Fomorians I have no idea what to do with: there's just so much inconsistency concerning their description to what their name is supposed to mean, the only thing people in folklore tend to agree with is they used to be giants (of varying size) who feuded with the Godly-people and were agents of natural chaos?

Everything else is wonky because some say they were just men with goat heads, some say they came from hell or were imperfect demons, I like the one that says they literally just walked out of the sea- they didn't even want or need Ireland, they just didn't want anyone squatting on the island.
And then some had one arm, one leg, one eye, while some were the most beautiful people ever.....

But then you get really arbitrarily specific shit, like how Fomorians are direct descendant's of Noah's son and only 10 generations seperated from Adam and Eve.
Super interesting stuff really, but all it makes me want to do is maybe make them into a kind of spooky, eldritch, the-people-of-the-deep-sea kind of deal.

I think one thing that is interesting to consider is that the tiny people would likely have highly developed societies compared to the humans. I'm not talking about technology or anything, but similar to how it is easier for humans to mine, farm, and build large cities than it is for giants, it is also much easier for tinies to do these things. As a result, a giant "city" will more or less look like a small human village, a human city will look like your typical middle age city, and tiny cities will end up looking like a miniature version of Minas Tirith. Tinies would likely be well armed and armored for their size as well.

You have to have a villain to defeat at the end and the giant is just too big to even scratch. If it's the sorcerer's magic controlling her you have a way to stop the giant's path of destruction by attacking the very human sized person ultimately responsible. Plus, you get to climb a moving fortress.

In the interest of having actually urban giants that are not nomads you could have them supported by a human infrastructure of immense size.
The capitol of an empire might be big enough to actually organize the construction of scyscrapaer cathedrals for the giants to live in and import cartloads of produce to feed them from their taxes. In return the fact that they have giants makes any siege to their city pretty much impossible. They might do their best to make sure no other nation can grow as wealthy as they do, because at a certain level of resources hosting a giant becomes possible. Which is analogous to having nuclear capability in the real world.
>>
>>55347489
The existence of artillery and long-range weaponry says so. Bigger infantry just means that a shell kills a single soldier rather than a single unit, which is bad when it costs much, much more to supply that single soldier and you have to abandon every tactical advantage infantry has over a tank.

Vinlandish folk were always on the big side. Most abroad range from 8-10ft, but they say that back home they can grow the size of mountains.
On top of their physical superiority to humans (although that's nothing new, humans are the smallest civilized race) Vinlanders can communicate over vast distances with their whistling language. Many abroad claim that they can hear their countrymen telling them of recent events all the way from home, but no one else hears a thing.
Their perception of time is one based on harmonic traditions, mainly percussion, and refer to certain phenomena in musical terminology. Their chief deity is a drummer with ten thousand limbs that sheds his skin every age. They say his drum-trance will end on a day when "water tips the cup, when the first step heralds the second"
If they have a culture, a word which they despise, it is the creed of the outsider: be a stranger everywhere you go, and life will never disappoint you; life will always be filled with wonder

Ah... Felarya.
Such a great setting, with such a cringy fanbase.
I feel like Karbo himself wants to get away from vore, but he's afraid of his fans' potential reaction if he did. His best work IMO is his very rare non-vore stuff.

If Felarya didn't pander to vore as a fetish but kept it as a horror element (like Attack on Titan) it would be a fantastic setting.

Yes, I understand that the vore fetishists will still fap to Attack on Titan, but the important thing is that most people will not look at that anime and think that someone is fapping to it. Same should happen with Felarya.

So basically, as long as we have at least half of the characters get eaten by a man instead of a woman, we should be good?

Thing is he really can't with the Felarya setting, the vore is built into the very foundation...

See, this can't happen because the entire thing is an excuse to draw giant cute girls putting people into their mouths.
That said, he could easily create similar setting where vore isn't the primary focus, but it'd have to be it's own thing only tangentially connected to Felarya.

Right, I think basically what we're saying is it would be cool to have a Felarya-esque setting, where various demi-human creatures are giant, and the majority of them are hostile and hunt humans, but take away all the bullshit that's clearly just there for fetish reasons (like them always swallowing their prey whole and the vast majority of the monsters being female).

I mean, the idea of humans being close to the bottom of the food chain and being hunted by intelligent, huge creatures is an interesting one, it just needs to be done right.

You know, we're /tg/.
We're DMs, players, system experimenters and storywriters. I've witnessed countless fetish threads turn into discussions on how to mechanically justify such things, and just as many discussions on how cool a setting could be.

We are the perfect people to make such a setting. A setting for the everyman, by the vorefags, with plenty for both vorefags and typical players to enjoy. /tg/ has made many settings before, some very deeply fleshed out!

Let's do it, /tg/.

Let's do it together.

Honestly the giant monster girls voring isn't even the best element of Felarya; It's that its' a patchwork dimensional nexus where damn near anything and everything could wash up.

Still, such a place could easily have giants, and they could very easily decide that smaller sapients make a fine snack.

Everyone who had the capacity to do that was kicked out of /tg/ for being too creative and disruptive and having badwrongfun, and not liking /pol/itics.

So, good luck with that.

" let's see... this one makes a nice shoulder piece... this one will fill the space on my breast nicely... hmm..."
"Oh, can't forget the most important covering! You, little one... you're the perfect size to cover my crotch! Just hold this and this...perfect. Now, If you'd like to stay alive, You'd best hold on to those for dear life, no matter how much you're bounced up and down. Oh, and be careful. It gets slippery down there pretty often."

I always feel like giants are just roadblocks so if I throw a giant in as a boss, its usually a 50 foot tall badass that the party actually needs to work hard to beat
>>
>>55363944
well she is 12.8 meters tall
>>
>>55363968
I mean proportionally.
>>
>>55350545
Yes and no, while experience is vital for developing a good aim the human brain is unusually good at figuring out trajectories, at least when compared to most other animals physically capable of throwing things.
>>
>>55347421
I'm not terribly knowledgeable about military matters but wouldn't a giant be super useful for the logistics/engineering side of modern warfare? I mean they're an always crewed all terrain vehicle that doubles as a heavy lifter and earth mover and can do demolitions. Or for that matter moving and operating artillery.
