Seems pretty unplayable except as a caster, unless they can somehow wield a weapon in their talons effectively. Maybe battleclaws a la Guardians of GaHoole?

Not sure how they'd fit in to a normal party but furries almost never play normal parties so I guess it works.

I think they would make fairly effective rangers, dex based EK or even AT, but yeah they don't have a huge martial bent. Flight + ranged attacks is always good, though, so not sure.

I haven't found much of a solution for wielding other weapons besides leaving it up to DM interpretation, but I could envision a sword&board hsiao fairly well.

I have a very hard time imagining someone operating any kind of bow with talons. Where would they keep their ammunition? They couldn't keep arrows in a quiver and grab them. Maybe in some kind of messenger bag slung around their back but that'd easily just slip off while flying in combat.

I can picture a melee weapon *maybe*, but even that seems like it'd be really clumsy. Maybe they could drop rocks?

I mean, not all races need to be able to fight of course.

Ofc, having high-speed aerial recon is quite useful by itself outdoors, no weapons required.

Perhaps you are right. There is, after all, an implied aura of pacifism in the lore. But as long as they can do what they're generally intended to (which is cleric/wizard/druid casting) then I'm mostly happy.
