(See Shadowrun players referring to themselves as "runners", players of various Warhammer factions adopting the persona of their chosen armies).
When these facts are combined, it makes sense that a company that sells predominantly paper-based games would refer to themselves as wizards, typically seen as powerful figures with magical scrolls and books.
