This seems bad right? Most decks that run black, either run tokens, so sacrificing 1/1s doesn't do much in terms of getting health back, or they run aggro, and don't want to kill of their ammits or gifted aetherborns. But i guess black kinda is running out of card draws, with succumb to temptation and ob nixilis gone... But still... 2 mana and 2 life for one card, that late game gives you just more mana?

But because it has an intervening if clause, you have to both have 5 or less life at that time for it to even trigger, and then also have 5 or less life when it resolves, for the ability to work and to transform it.

Do note that Enrage says "Whenever ~ is dealt damage" meaning it only triggers once for each instance, no matter how much damage that instance dealt.

That's the point. Instead of introducin the new flavor of the weak that will be forgotten and never picked back after this set, it would have been smarter to bring back already existing tribe with already tribal themes. Dinosaurs = Beasts, and Pirates = Rogues. They're even in the same colour combinaison, as if it was changed late in the dev.
As for Kamigawa, that doesn't change much. The tribala spect of the spirits come from Kamigawa too, it didn't stop them from creating some nice things with Innistrad. We had a few more snakes since then, and even a throwback with a recent Commander product, so the naga subtype really doesn't make any sense.
A good cover of types is good, but the "type of the week" is a bad move to me, and a real waste of what could be cool upgrades to existing tribes. If they introduce something new, they should reintroduce them in some other blocks, rather than keep them a one-time only thing. Ninja, for exemple were a pretty cool tribe with a really interesting mecanic but are way too specific. They should have been rogues or assassins, or should be retconned.

Soldiers and Knights are diverse enough. Berserker, barbarians could be warriors. No idea where to fit mercenaries, they're kinda their own thing, like rebels. Probably more a lore thing.
I'm interested in scouts and archers but same, no idea what to do with them.
Spiders, scorpions and insects could be fused into Arthropods.
Snake, turtle and lizards into reptiles. Dinosaurs either into reptiles or beasts.

Having merfolk and fish, or jackals and hounds, or naga and snakes are fine if that's the norm, but we still have bird for bird people and bird birds. If it's something that's going to be used, and possibly mechanically distinguished, add it. Dinosaurs existed already and are easily identifiable. Right now there's no consistency, Wizards is just adding shit for a block and dumping it, and five years from now they'll be saying how much jackals, samurai, and dinosaurs were an R&D mistake.

On the other hand, if they never intend to print decent tribal again, who cares about the types? In a decade Commander 2025 will give you a beast commander, a dinosaur commander, a mercenary commander, and a lithid commander for EDH if you really need those 99 tribal cards.

You are correct in that the 4 drop is gonna be a core vampire piece. A hellrider that exchanges haste (an effective flat increase to the damage it does the turn it comes down) to doubling the damage, in terms of lifeswing, it does is a decent card, though lacking haste makes the card worse on its own.

Were still missing a lot of the cards between the start of the curve and that though. The one drop is actually pretty good but we need more and two drops.
