Hi all,
I'm trying to make a game, but I want to make sure that I'm being original in my ideas, so people will like what I'm doing. Do any of you know of a game that uses custom D8s, mass miniature combat, collectible cards and cover rules. I know that some games use a few of those elements, But is there already one that uses all of them?
>It's another "amateur game dev more concerned with originality than quality" episode.
My favorite.

After a certain point the drive for originality becomes pointless complexity for complexity's sake. Your idea definitely sounds like that. Always remember a lot of elements in games become common because they work well, and if it aint broke dont try to fix it.

No, but that sounds like a pretty bad premise, so maybe there's a reason why I can't think of anything like that.
At least it doesn't exist. I'm trying to keep it simple, so I didn't want people going "Hey, that's just a dumbed-down version of x" or "It's just x for babies 1"
Thanks guys

not answering the question - asking whetther you're "original" is another way of saying "has anyone else done this, what did they do so I can see if they did anything that might improve my system?"
I think you had "no one else has done this" at "custom D8s" (largely because it's not a particular good "rolling" die unlike D6s, d12s or d20s), though I remember someone mentioning a 3d2 system that functioned as a d8 with a bell curve
