4e
I propose the Dr Robotnik as the personification of all of D&D.
>>55230435
2e Classic, enjoyable and fun.
>>55230720
2e modules, overly goofy yet super enjoyable and flavorful.
>>55230701
3e Slightly edgy as they try to make things more "Serious." Renaming classic enemies. Has it's own charm flavor wise, but gameplay has became an utter mess, and is generally unliked.
>>55230740
4e. Overly polished and simplified to the point of ugly and unwanted.
>>55230316
5e Takes the best of all the previous Eggmans, and while Great(!) and enjoyable doesn't do much to stand out on it's own.

3.PF
Is it even possible to play a roboticist in D&D?
What if Eggman is actually a giant and his brain is stored in his body instead of his head? We know that he's fully cyberized after all.

> and is generally unliked.
You really need to walk away from the butthurt 4rries here that are still bitter from "losing" the edition war.
Str: 8 - Needs machines to do literally everything for him
Dex: Probably also 8. Literally a giant fat eggman, falls down a lot.
Con: 16 - Dudes been through some shit, and can run with the fastest of em so he's got some strong lungs
Int: 20 - actual genius mastermind
Wis: 6 - Genius IQ, autistic in terms of everything else
Cha: 12 - Not totally socially inept, kind of has a way with people.

Very nice.

Not him, but what did we "lose"? Funin.Space still exists. The offline builder still exists. All the books still exist, and if anything, it ended right when the power started to creep stupidly from some poor decisions during essentials. The math-fixes have been hammered out into a solid community consensus that everyone can agree on without a self-conscious dev trying to convince people to not use math fixes to retroactively justify their mistakes (CoughMearlsCough.)
My ability to enjoy my favorite edition isn't dependent on a new book coming out and "changing the meta" every 3 months.
I'm extremely happy with the state of 4e.

Outrunning Sonic would imply Con of 18.

I'd say you're mostly spot on, but both 3e and Adventure are less generally unliked and more utterly skub-like.
Some swear by it, some despise it, most are vaguely neutral towards it.
So would the chaos emeralds be artifacts?

Stupid pathfag still doesn't know 5e exists.
>>55233729
That's the thing. 4e didn't actually "lose" anything, it just wound up being less popular than 3.pf, and that's why the 4rries are still butthurt.

>Overly polished and simplified to the point of ugly and unwanted.
I'm not sure that's true of either one. 2006 Eggman isn't polished and simplified, he's trying too hard to look realistic and has an awkwardly in-between design as a result. 4e isn't focused on simplicity or realism, but rather on being a game, specifically a game wherein everything balanced, standardized, and delineated, which is pretty much the opposite of Sonic 2006.
