Mutants and Masterminds. I know, typical, but it is what saved me from the plight of Pathfinder.

Supers!, revised edition. It's simple, solid and well done, and ensured a bit of variability by ruling that you can't use the same power or skill more than once in a round, forcing players to mix things up a little. It's not a major innovation but it helps.

Wild Talents.

Champions, among the first and still the best. Not as easy to learn as the others, but gets brutally specific on powers.

Too specific. It has a level of granularity and complexity that goes way too far, IMO.

Seconding. My group jumped from D&D to M&M very easily, and it was a much-needed change of pace.

I have yet to play it, but the book for MnM is so good. It's like perfectly balanced between FATE and GURPS and makes me rock fucking hard.

Despite initially not really seeing the point in PbtA, I really enjoyed Masks. It's a very focused game for telling a specific kind of superhero story, but it does what it sets out to do very well.

The tl;dr of the game is that it's all about young heroes finding their identities and figuring out who they are amidst a backdrop of superheroic action. All the various playbooks are built around some question or another and finding your personal answers to it over time, and it does interesting things like having your stats constantly be shifting up and down- Because your stats represent your self-image, and teenagers being prone to that sort of thing feels very appropriate in context.

It's not my most played supers RPG or the one I'd go to for most games I wanted to run, but in terms of executing its premise well it's the best I've ever played.

Agreed on all counts. I feel exactly the same way. Supers! is my go-to, but Masks is a decent second

The one that only exists on my mind because superhero TRPG suck dicks nowadays

I really like what they did in the Savage Worlds Supers companion. But only because I'm a pleb who can't get a group to learn a new system.
