Interesting, though i guess not many people will use these in matched play.

Though most important of all and this might be just me and my obsession with throgg (still annoyed they got rid of chaos monster armies...) This might be a small hint to Throgg making a comas he is basically was the king of monsters with a monster horde.

There are a lot of salty people yelling about random turns this morning.

But there is no one yelling about no more bretonian cav units coming out this year.
>>
Right, gonna ask the same thing from last general:

I have just moved to a new place and have set myself up in a temporary place. Unfortunatly i had to leave all my aos stuff behind (i had a choice of either a) one army or b) lots of collector models from another game which shall not be named here)

Which means that I am now in need of a new army to work on in the coming months/years.

I have mostly been a chaos/destruction player that loves to get stuck in with melee and specialist units so id like to veer off from that and do an more tactically interesting army.

I am contemplating waiting a couple of months/half a year to see what new factions come out for aos before I make a decision.

What is the general's thoughts on the matter. Shall i wait and save up for what might be an interesting army coming in the coming year or start planning an army with what is currently available?
And to answer >>55221299

Actually have a small force of stormcast that i might pickup when i return home for holidays and i might buildup on them. However i feel like a new army to signify a new start.

At the moment I am leaning towards the waiting approach. From the sounds of it next year we might have a couple of new factions including a new death faction or two.

There's time to wait for something new since you're getting settled anyway, find the German gaming stores near you and hang out there, get to know the community, etc., but not to hold your breath for the Goblin Sky-pirates, i feel they may be a bit of a dreamer

Enjoying Moulder atm and I'd put money on Death-rattle being the next major release, or that's my hope. - Regarding advice since it's a fresh start you should look into a faction with a variety of allies to make use of them since it's fun. Dispossessed got a lot of buffs and has a pretty wide allies matrix, ironweld and fyreslayers for support.

How do we fix Summoning?

In Path to Glory you can summon units out of thin air, without having to set aside the points value for them. This is pretty unbalanced, since summoning super powerful units is about as difficult as summoning a unit of 10 zombies.

Why not leave summoning units around, but only for battleline units? Or if you do want to still have the ability to summon a Greater Demon or its equivalent, make it extremely difficult to cast?

Will wait a lil bit before i join the community as i dont know enough German yet, however it is my main goal to after 3-6 months go a couple of times and let my presence be known.

Also i will admit i have my eye on a fun kharadron overlords army themed on pic related but i will wait just incase GW releases an army that catches my eye (also the fact that i am currently saving up for shadowspire and necromunda plus another game which shall not be named here)

Thanks for the advice though.

I'd just remove it desu, especially from Path to glory, it's kind of a shit mechanic and too much imbalance
>>
>>55223140
There's no good way to fix it due to the core mechanics and how they designed summoning. If, say, wizards had levels again, you could give a fixed 'summoning currency' based on wizard level or something.

SO just to be sure, if I have a Slaanesh lord from the hosts of slaanesh list and a unit of chaos knights marked slaanesh can I target the knights with the lords fight twice command?
>>
>>55223140
I think the answer to this is similar to the warpstone sparks.
You have 1 warpstone spark to use each herophase, it is equal to 60 reinforcement points. When summoning you can expend any number of warpstones you have for discount to the summoned unit equal to the total. You can gain additional sparks by killing an enemy unit within range of your general, capping points etc, the Idea is that acheiving win conditions gains you a spark. And maybe just for death, you can sacrifice a unit for a spark.
>>

In the process of building a pure Chaos Knight Cavalry army.
Is the Ruinbringer Warband worth the 180 pts? The effect looks strong but also seems kinda overpriced imho. Could get 5 more Knights or 2 more Chariots for the price.

This is what I got so far. If I had 20 more pts I'd probably add 2x3 Varanguard but if I'm just going to play 1500 I'll just add another Chariot.

1 Chaos Lord on Daemonic Mount (140)

10 Chaos Knights (320)
10 Chaos Knights (320)
5 Chaos Knights (320)
5 Chaos Knights (320)

1 Chaos Chariot (80)
1 Chaos Chariot (80)
1 Chaos Chariot (80)
1 Chaos Chariot (80)

= 1420/2000 pts

So I started collecting skaven last year and just when Im about finished painting my verminus force the clawpack gets axed.
I'ved decided to wait it out for a replacement and just play 1k games until then.
Heres my list:
chaos allegiance
1 greyseer or warlord
40 clanrats
40 clanrats
20 stormvermin
5 gutter runners
3 warplock jezzails

Would greyseers command ability be worth bringing him over warlord?
Woulkd it be better to take out the jezzails and gutter runners to bring warlord + screaming bell?

thoughts?
>>
>>55224311

I have the feeling they will be squatted and AoS will remain with just Ironjawz and Bonesplitters representing greenskins (maybe they will add a gobbo only faction later on)
>>
>>55224089
BCR lost destruction's OP movement, the OP artefact, stonehorn nerfed into the ground, and the meta shifted to make it even harder on low model count elite armies. They actually kinda suck now, so if someone still has a stigma about them, they're a grudge keeping faggot. The plus side is that mournfang are nicely costed and thundertusks are still good (albeit more expensive and without the extra movement much less threatening).

Leadbelchers as battleline for gutbusters are cool. Tyrants are murderers, and butchers with cauldrons make great buffers - take more than one.

Both armies are solidly fluff-tier now, but can be quite fun.
>>
>>55224311
You want a block of 40 grots and a shaman
Give those grots bows
Because of their size, their bows go from 1 5+ 5+ - 1 to 1 3+ 5+ - 1
The shaman's Sneaky Stabbing spell now makes that 1 3+ 4+ -1 1
You now have 40 shots that are better than what the orruks could possibly do
>>
>>55225099
>You want a block of 40 grots and a shaman

>>55225949
No, that's "prEceed", aka to be before (hence "precedent").
You can prEceed something, or, in fact, be prEceeded by something.
"prOceed" means to "advance", to "go forward" (hence procession, procedure).
You can "prOceed", but you can not "prOceed something", it is intransitive. You can "prOceed WITH something".
At the same time, one can not "be prOceded", nothing can be prOceded because nobody can prOceed anything, you need the preposition "with".
Though sort of opposite in etymology, the two words aren't comparable in their usage.
You can say that
when A preceeds B,
B follows A.
You can't say that
when A preceeds B,
B proceeds A.
It's just not how English uses those words.

I guess two problems I'm having that maybe people have solutions for with my paints are.... right now for my "palette" im just using a stack of white paper that I put some paint on, then dip the brush in water and then mix to try to water down my paints. Everyone says to make sure to water down about 50/50... but my paint is drying really fast into the paper so I really only get one mix and then by the time I'm done coating the paint has dried into the paper. Any suggestions on another material to use? Would a magazine cover work?

Also, I find if I try to water it down, my paint on the models ends up really bubbly. I know if I add too much it ends up looking like an ink wash and I dont actually get the colors on the surface, just in the crevasses , but I'm having a lot of trouble getting that ideal mix of paint to water
>>

My store is doing a Path to Glory league, gonna give it a go with a Nurgle allegiance warband. Don't have/can't afford/waiting for a new sculpt of the Great Unclean One, so I'm going wtih a Harbinger of Decay as my general which leaves me with 4 troop choices.

I love Blightkings, so I really want to spend 2 of those on a unit of them. That leaves 2. I feel like taking a Chaos Sorcerer Lord on Daemonic Mount would be a good idea, but my Nurgle conversion isn't painted yet. I have a Gorebeast Chariot ready, as well as Plaguebearers, Nurglings, and some Ungor Raiders converted to look more Nurgley. I have some other stuff waiting to be painted for later on in the campaign.

Amongst those what would you say would be the most competitive choice?

I'm thinking:

Harbinger of Decay
5 Putrid Blightkings
10 Ungor Raiders
1 Chaos Sorcerer on Daemonic Mount (Palanquin)

Only thing I'm torn on is whether to take the Gorebeast Chariot over the Sorcerer. Figure the Daemons should logically follow the Sorcerer under the assumption they must be on my list to be summoned.

Black knights have the "barding" that you can paint up like undead brets. They also have bloodknights and direwolves. Look up mousillon bretonnia. its an actual faction in the old fluff

Chaos has knights and marauders, skull crushers, etc.

Skinks may as well have come out at at AoS launch, they look that good. But, they do have some mold lines.

Other than that, everything is pretty modern.

Long shot here, but anyone north of Toronto want to meet up for a game in Barrie sometime this week? Specifically at the 'Sir Games-a-Lot' game room.

Or, Hell, anyone want to meet anywhere in the GTA for a game or two? I've got the week off work so days or evenings work for me.

I'm relatively new to the game. Have a Slave to Darkness/Khorne army, looking for 1k-2k point fights.

Emails me at [email protected] if interested!

Age of Sigmar newfriend here. Actually, this is the first time I'm assembling minis.
I have 8 Liberators and 3 Prosecutors assembled (badly). Someone said that I'm supposed to wash the parts of a mini in warm soapy water before assembling. Is it really useful or I'm getting memed?
Plus, I had no idea what to do with the mouldline removed (although the name says everything, apparently I'm not a smart man) and so I primed these mini without scraping away the mouldlines. Should I do it now and then prime the minis again, or just leave them with some non-black parts?

The primer is a general layer made to stick the paint to. If you want, try scraping the mould lines now, and paint over. You should have enough Primed surface to get good results.

THE JOKE JUST WRITES ITSELF

But seriously I don't want to be a dick to new people, so have fun with your army.

You can scrape the mould lines and have a bit without primer (the paint should stick fine if you just have the bit with the mold line missing, OR you can buy a brush-on primer to patch up the plastic parts.

Alternatively you can just keep the moldlines if they are BASE troops like liberators or things that you will have 20+ of when its on the table. Nobody will notice on your rank and file. Make your heros and elite units better looking.
>>
>>55232217
Forgot to answer your other question.
You can wash them if you feel like, but really its just for resin models. Yours are plastic.
So something from Forge world (white instead of grey) should be washed with soapy water

>>
>>55232625
Oh thats a good idea. Khorne is pretty fun and has a lot of cool rules now.
If you enjoy the game you can add some slaughter priests. a bloodthrister, and wrathmongers to your list.
Wrathmongers you throw at your enemies strongest monsters and watch them explode themselves.
Good luck

Cut the head off the sorcerer, switch with a regular head and make him bloodstoker. You can say he pokes your dudes with the stick instead of whipping them.
A blood stoker will fit your army better, and you cant get one without buying the AoS starter so will save you money.

What, I've never had any resin minis that have been white. Not FW, not GW's, nor any other company's.

You definitely should wash resin. I still wash my plastic too though, takes like 30 seconds to just dunk sprues in the sink, scrub and rinse, then just a day to dry or another 30 seconds with the air compressor. Then I know there ain't any chamical shit on my models.

Also question.

I picked a poor unlucky Liberator to test my first timer painting skills, applied the base Retributor Gold, came out ok-ish I think. Only mistake is that I painted the whole model gold while I could have skipped some parts I guess.
BUT AFTER THAT I started applying Reikland Fleshshade and I think I fucked up. Probably because I used the Citadel™ Starter Brush™, which can't hold too much shade and I like in a really hot place, so the shade dried in less than a minute.
Basically now my model looks like it's made of dirty brass, and the shade didn't shade shit. Is it salvageable somehow? Should I apply another pass of gold on the shade?
Will post a pic as soon as I'm home.
>>
>>55232909
Yes you have to "layer" the model up after you wash it. Also put a bit less if its really dark.
Washing will darken the fuck out of the model, which then needs to be layered up to brighten the model and give it detail.
Just follow this:
https://youtu.be/X_Y61xmylas

He does the same thing you did. See how dark it was after the shade/wash? See how he layers it up with a lighter gold?
I think they changed the name of some of the golds now, but youll get the idea
>>

>>55232893
Not saying they aren't good, but you do realise that their +1 to each attack in a 3 inch radius applies to everyone right? Including your opponent.

This generally makes them bad up against monsters or elite shit, because they just add onto their monstrous attacks. They're more of a hoarde-thinner unit, because it doesn't matter if you give a bunch of rats or skinks +1 attack their wimpy hits won't do much anyway.

>Citadel™ Starter Brush™
Why are you doing that?
>>
>>55232962
2 things.
1. If you just charge a big high point unit, its fine because you are just throwing them away to kill 300+ points for less than 200 of wrathmongers

2. The way I use them and how most people use them, is you put them 2.5 inches BEHIND a wall of blood warriors. They get the buff but once you measure past the blood warriors, the enemy units are too far to get the buff.

So you do as much damage as you can keeping the wrathmongers OUT of combat and >3" away from enemies.
Once your buffed bloodwarriors die, THEN you charge them in the gap and go to town. Your other guys are dead so if the enemy gets the buff it doesn't matter because you have nothing left other than the wrathmongers for them to attack (ITS A TRAP!)

Really having Trouble deciding whether or not to go with battalions for my skaven.

With two arkhspark voltiks I spend 300 points including the second warlock I need for it.
I do get to shoot twice with two warplightning cannons, both of which may or may not off themselves right away and it gives me access to a second artifact, which I may be able to make use of.
But those 300 points could be either a second unit of stormfiends or some more doomwheels, weapon teams, etc.

Also I dislike that clanrats don't have a 40k-esque *CLAN* keyword, so you can field them without using up your ally reserves.

I don't thing there was anything in the WHFB game itself, but in WHFRP the Chaos gods could gift the player with basically the entire range of Chaos Space Marine small arms, melee weapons, bionic limbs, or even have their entire body replaced by a Chaos Android.

There was also a bit of fluff in one of the WHFB rulebooks where a champion from Norsca somehow ended up with a chainsword and became virtually unstoppable until he managed to disembowel himself with it - Chaos chainswords tend to lack the guard over the reverse side that virtually all Imperial versions have.

anyone has any tips how to deal with a sigmarites and chaos tzeench demons army with dwarfs, am getting spanked real hard. With the sigmarites my problem is that they have a ton of shoting and are suprisingly fast, plus my opponent often takes magic casters from humans and elfs.

Ah and this is what I have.
6 different hero models,
40 warriors with great weapons
40 warriors with crossbows
15 slayers.
30 iron breakers
30 long beards
1 Lord on a throne
15 rangers with crossbows and two handed weapons.

all units have a banner and a musician.
I also have a few artilery models, but can't use them in our games yet. We normaly play 2000pts.
>>
>>55234304
>but can't use them in our games yet
Why? If they can use their shitty allies, so can you.
As for stormcast, hunker down, don't expose anything to deepstrike or outflank and shoot his tits off with Irondrakes. Both armies are primarily hard as balls, so try to out-grind him.
Against Tzeentch, dump 30 Quarrelers behind his lines and savage his hero lineup.
>>
>>55233859
Thanks, really hoping they going to do more with the Firebellies after reading about them.
>>
>>55234386
yes I could be using other order units, I just do not like non dwarf models 9 out of 10 times. And I can't use artilery, because the rule at my store is that, if an army doesn't have lets say an artilery option, you can veto it from the opposing army. If the sigmar guy wouldn't have his dragons, the chaos dude wouldn't be able to use his demon princes, or the undead player his moriarts.
I don't have irondrakes, I have ironbreakers the melee dudes, not the ones with guns.
>>
>>55234438
>if an army doesn't have lets say an artilery option, you can veto it from the opposing army
No offense, but that's incredibly retarded. Also, it makes no sense; stardrakes and dracoths are just part of the stormhosts.

a) Tell them to stop being dipshits. If that's not possible, veto his wizard allies, two can play at that game.
b) Get Irondrakes, they are, alongside Ironbreakers, your bread and butter. Really, they are fucking amazing, especially with the Pickaxe on a supporting Runepriest.
c) Play (mostly) defensively against SCE, but aggressively against Tzeentch.
>>
>>55234516
People just started playing here, and the store owner thought it would make people drop the game fast, if few rich players could win by using multiple monsters or artilery wagons.
>>55234502
closests other store is 4 hours away by bus. Am not going to spend 10 hours to play one game.
>>55234483
I could technicly take mages too, I just don't want to, as there are no dwarf mages. At the store it works like this, if two people have a monster or artiliery, then they can use it, if only one person has this model, then he can't play with it at the store, he can of course buy the model no problem.
>>
>>55234553

Did you even read your warscrolls?
>>
How should I go about doing some nautical themes bases? I'm thinking rocks, moss some sand etc.
>>
>>55234585
Because if you have a friend lets say, and one plays monster heavy ogers and the other plays demons, you can unlock it by starting to play. At the same time you could technicly lock out someone from taking powerful unit that is rare. The skypirate dwarfs didn't get very popular here for exactly that reasons, no other army has flying transports. And from what I understand it is the thing that makes the whole army work.

>>55234615
I did read the stuff about the models I own. I do not have any irondrakes, because I didn't know they even existed. Ironbreakers with guns seems like a stupid idea, how would tunel fighters use them without causing cave ins and killing themselfs ?
>>
>>55234644
That is the dumbest shit I've heard all day.
Between genereally high cost and fixed hit and wound values monsters are perfectly fine in general. In fact, going purely by meta they are sorta bad.
And Kharadron Overlords are barely viable even with their transports, so, yeah.
As for the Irondrakes, their gun was described as sorta like a flamethrower back in WHFB, with them trading positions with the ironbreakers whenever those got too exhausted and driving back skaven and grobi with a wall of flame. Still not sensible in a tunnel fight, mind you...
>>
>>55234644
