Intet the Dreamer. It's Dragon Tribal, and she's a 6/6 flyer which is big enough that I've won with Commander Damage on Numerous occasions, but she doesn't really do anything for Dragon Tribal besides occasionally casting a big beasty for free.

Still my favorite deck though!

Marrow Gnawer is great, tho. The only weakness he has is lack of good rats.

So I was thinking of doing a kess spell slinging deck, but I realized I don't really have a lot of good cards for it, nor do I really wanna sink a lot into it. But I did already order a bunch of the mana for a Grixis mana base. Is there a way to do Kess without the normal storm or whatever bullshit, or would it be better to just stick with Inalla for right now?

Oh, I love Marrow-Gnawer. He was one of my first decks and was one of the first rares I ever pulled, but there are only a handful of rats that are any good. To go off with any consistency you have to pack your deck with shitty cards or play a meme relentless rats deck.

I have a Reaper King deck, and while scarecrow are also shitty, out can at least hold it's own.

Jenara?

There's even fewer Angels in Bant than in Mardu and Jenara is arguably even worse of a tribal commander.

Oh, anon. You don't know how badly I was hoping angels were gonna be one of the tribes in C17...
>>
>>55194085
Reaper King was the first deck I built back when I started in New Phyrexia. Entirely constructed out of my friends bulk and nonsense, it was a beautiful menagerie of terrible commons and uncommons with an artifact theme (thanks Mirrodin), but every time I got to slam down that King and boldly shout "ITS HARVEST TIME", I was as proud of that deck as I have ever been of any deck since. Over the years of playing with this group that got me into Magic (I didn't realize there were even other ways to play besides with 100 cards and a general) the deck slowly gained more rares, scarecrows, and artifact nonsense until it formed into the scariest deck in our playgroup, and the mere whisper of Harvest Time would send shudders down my friends' spine.

Flash forward 6 years, 1500 miles, and at least 50 decks built and retired. I no longer play with those long gone friends, and honestly I don't even have a group to play with that I even like. Still, Reaper King resides in a hallowed space in my deck case, foiled out, with only the most beautiful un-lands, triple sleeved with Perfect Fit Dragon Shields, Yuru Yuri custom art sleeves, and oversized art covers. It's final form a deck so bewildering to behold, so beautiful and terrible at the same time, an amalgamation of artifact and five color combo, that any who face its glory soon learn the terror of the words of the King.

To play Reaper King is to play the King of Magic. To utter his holy mantra is to evoke an emotion previously unbeknownst to those who hear it. To King is to Harvest. To Harvest is to King.

Remember this next time you play Magic, you're only playing a cheap imitation of what it actually is. Until you experience the Harvest, you have not truly experienced anything.

Hear his words and tremble, learn his words and rule. Play the King and only the King, and remember:
"It's Harvest Time."

Not sure what I could add or remove to make it better, though.

Just adding the "Demon" type to every permanent. So basically "Basic Land - Mountain Demon" or "Artifact - Demon".

I really want to make an Edh deck with the thematic of a hug deck. But instead of being useful and sitting there being nice. I want to just make the deck pure chaos. Possibility Storm levels of chaos. For thematic reasons I Wana run Arjun as the commander so even I don't know what I might have in hand. Any ideas of sure shot includes? Maybe something like this with cards to change creature types?
>>
I met Mark Rosewater at a local game store in Renton last week. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him to sign cards or anything. He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?” I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?”, jumping up and down, closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued looking through trade binders, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my cards up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Thragtusks in his hands without paying. The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter. When she took one of the cards and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “Just in case one of them was an Interfetterence” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s the name of a magic card. After she scanned each card and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.

I run Gisela Angel tribal. I am right there with you. I'd love more Angels that care about Angels.

It drives me insane that Sigarda doesn't work in Boros commander colors. I can't run her as a commander, because then I lose access to all the R/W legendary angels, but her sacrifice-blocking ability is exactly what my deck needs.

We'll just have to wait for Serra to eventually be made the focus of a Commander product, as that deck will no doubt have some love for angels.

Temur is a good enough color combo for dragon tribal. Intet himself kind of blows, but eh.

Use Gravitational Shift and this thing.

>>55197321
Glad I could help.

>>55198000
I'd do two color. The mana base isn't that hard with 2 colors and you don't have to deal with not having the right kind of answers, wraths or card draw as with monocolor.
>>
>>55198000
2 color. Monocolor is not actually as simple as 2c in EDH because most of it will be building around the limitations of that color and it significantly limits even the kinds of mana rocks you can play. You'll very rarely get color screwed in 2c with even a modicum of fixing, and the colors can help cover each other's weaknesses.

Beast within, pongify, mutation? Card.

Axe tribal?
>>
>>55198775
>So if i end the turn with Sundial of the Infinite my cheated dragon gets still exiled during the next opponent's turn, correct?
No, because that trigger is gone forever, you only have to do it once per dragon you cheat out.
>>
>>55198959
But it says "at the end of any turn" not "your next end turn" so it triggers again at my opponent's end step
>>
>>55198775
>>55198959
Okay, so here's probably where the confusion comes in. There are two scenarios.

Scenario One
>Some time during your turn, you activate Sundial and end the turn. You skip straight past the point where the trigger would've been put on the stack. The trigger still waits around until the next available end step, because it didn't see an end step happen during your turn. It goes on the stack then and the dragon gets exiled.

Scenario Two
>You wait until the end of your turn. The trigger to exile the dragon is put on the stack, but before it resolves, you use Sundial to end the turn. The ability gets exiled, the dragon stays. Since the ability was put on the stack, even though it never resolved, it doesn't try again.

You want Scenario Two.
>>
>>55198930
He's a Giant Warrior, so I might do Giant Tribal?
>>
>>55199018
You exiled the trigger, the thing is gone forever.
>>
>>55199018
Zirilan's Oracle Text is a bit more clear:
>{1}{R}{R}, {T}: Search your library for a Dragon permanent card and put that card onto the battlefield. Then shuffle your library. That Dragon gains haste until end of turn. Exile it at the beginning of the next end step.
>>
>>55199023
There's some nice tribal giant stuff courtesy of lorwyn, problem is giants are a tribe of 5 CMC+ dudes.
>>
>>55199023
I honestly think axe tribal would be more viable.
>>
>>55199036
Ok then that makes it much more clear but they basically changed completely how the card works in the original wording
>>
>>55199045
The problem is that even his colors are kind of weird- the Red makes sense, and Green's got some good Giant stuff, but Black is weird for a Giant. All I have so far is to not put in Auras, and to put in the matching-color Titans.
>>
>>55199088
Not exactly. There wasn't really any way for it to work differently than it does now back then. There were no Time Stops or Sundials.
>>
>>55199088
It wouldn't say "At the end of your turn", since you could activate it during an opponent's turn and that'd give you a free blocker and attacker, and it doesn't say "At the end of every turn," because then it would generate a triggered ability constantly every turn forever even after the dragon is gone and it does nothing.

It was always meant to function how it functions now, they just didn't have the templating in line.

Here's my "budget" landbase for Ur-Dragon:

Rocky Tar Pit
Mountain Valley
Bad River
Grasslands
Flood Plain
Terramorphic Expanse
Evolving Wilds
Canopy Vista
Smoldering Marsh
Cinder Glade
Prairie Stream
Sunken Hollow
Llanowar Wastes
Yavimaya Coast
Crucible of the Spirit Dragon
Haven of the Spirit Dragon
Path of Ancestory
Mana Confluence
Exotic Orchard
5x Mountain
5x Forest
3x Plain
2x Island
2x Swamp

The Mirage Fetch Lands are cheap, as are the BfZ Duals (which after turn two will be better than shocks). I also have Chromatic Lantern in the deck for additional mana fixing.

The eventual plan is to replace the Mirage Fetchlands with regular fetchlands and the BfZ Duals with shocks, but that's going to require some saving first.

I do, actually. Might not be a bad idea, though some of the people I play with can get stupid amounts of life sometimes if they pull correctly. Couldn't hurt to keep my options open though.

Combos with infinite mana but is also just an extremely efficient and strong creature. It literally sees play in all formats so the price will drop when Standard rotates but it will still be played.

In Vintage (and edh) it fits perfectly into the Bomberman combo of Auriok Salvagers + Black Lotus. Salvagers can make infinite mana and he can even return Ballista from the graveyard. In Legacy he is used for value and an infinite Food Chain combo outlet (can only spend the infinite mana on creatures).

HAHAHA! FUCKING CALLED IT!

WOW! The MOMENT He lost to Bolas I said "Huh. Wonder if he's going to end up on Ìxalan, no that won't matter unless he's stuck there some how."
>>
>>55202305
I mean, he at least doesn't leave ixalan this block, or he only appears again in Ixalan2.0, or even better: Garruk kills him(it's not like he is the first planeswalker to die). Although I do think that wizards is just taking Jace for a trip.
>>
>>55202288
The chances of that are 0. Jace has to be printed at least a few times a year so either mtg as a whole is stuck on Ixalan or Jace is leaving.
>>
Okay if I kicked Rite of Replications onto Vela would all 5 copies hit the board and then leave causing 30 damage or no?

It works the same as Reaper King, if I understand it correctly. The 5 copies + the original all etb at same time, then they all see the 5 ltb for legendary rule. 5x6=30 so yeah it should work like that.

they are going to have the gatewatch split up for a while. after this set jace won't likely appear for a bit because we will have a set where lilianna confronts the raven man on the viking plane. a member of the gatewatch might feature into the plot of dominaria altho it's more likely that karn will be the central figure there. after those two sets i would expect to see a return to theros set wherein somebody is tasked with saving elspeth from the underworld. (gideon?)

not sure when we'd see nissa or chandra again but wotc is probably going to spend some time developing the the hatewatch storyline with vraska, tezzeret, ral zarek, etc. and those two things might coincide. i think a set on vryn is very likely with or without jace there.

Name five reliable ways to draw two or more cards that don't go away at the end of your turn in Boros. No random chance, no exile them and may cast them til end of turn. Just easy draw.

Sram costs 2 and works with a third of your deck, Nahiri costs 5 and needs to tutor for the clamp before you get your engine rolling.
>>
>>55204234
Man I just realized if I have absolutely have to I can use Marath to draw a shit ton of cards with skullclamp. I've been using Elspeth, Sun of Champions and saccing weaker monsters to it.

Sometimes I miss little things in my deck. Need a sword of Fire and Ice like someone else mentioned though.

Although honestly why play Boros when you can play Naya, Mardu, or Jeskai

So can this be used in response to a counter spell or do I have to use it before an opponent declares it?
>>
>>55204066
The deck is surprisingly synergistic. The psuedo-curiosity, anthem, and gravedigging that R+T provide turn otherwise EDH unplayable cards like Doomed Traveller and Oketra's Monument into legitimate value engines. The deck can close out games by looping Yosei or Kokusho.

tl;dr: bw tokens with looping etb/ltb effects as a wincon
>>
I'm building a deck focused on playing a bunch of wurms. Should I go Trostani for big heals, or Ikra Shidiqi & Tymna the Weaver for also big heals but also black for Massacre Wurm? I dopn't know if it's worth adding black just for Massacre Wurm, despite his strength.
>>
>>55204381
well it needs to be in play first since it doesn't have flash, which begs the question why would anyone use a counterspell if this thing is in play
but yes, this can be used in response to a counterspell to 'save' the spell from being countered
>>
>>55204381

spell on the stack, counterspell on the stack, you use it, it resolves, boom, your spell is no longer a legal target
>>
>>55204323
>Although honestly why play Boros when you can play Naya, Mardu, or Jeskai
Because I fucking want to.
>>
>>55204030
>that don't go away at the end of your turn
If you play the card that turn, what's the difference?

Obviously direct draw is better (which RW also has, just not as much) but I feel like you're underestimating the pseudo draw mechanic.

I see people in here insinuate that RW is just terrible, when the power gap is actually not very large.
>>
>got Cat deck

>>
>>55204415
>why would anyone use a counterspell if this thing is in play

Some people are incredibly stupid. One guy at my LGS saw a guy tutor for Teferi's Protection and than when the guy still had mana open and Teferi's Protection in hand used Cyclonic Rift and tilted into another plane of existence when it was cast.

Can I get some constructive feedback on my Bruna EDH deck please?

https://deckstats.net/deck-13951347-87c17ee619cdb940c0ce8b55032765ad.html

Basic game plan is to slow/lockdown the board with stax effects then get into a state where we can safely get out bruna and start swinging people out the game. Some cards (crypt, thron, sphere, fetches) are not included due to budget constraints. Anything expensive in there is something I already own. Trying to keep it under $500
>>
>>55204107

>>
>>55204680
>can't paste a reply into paint without fucking it up
And no need to rag on the dude so hard, he didn't even mention how degenerate Slivers can be since there's about 40 different ways to combo off Sliver Queen in a 99 card deck.
>>
>>55204680
To be fair, I've never seen a sliver deck that didn't just try to slam down mass slivers.

But that strategy is shit and shouldn't win.
>>
>>55204443
The issue is that the colors that you're in have no way of accelerating their mana beyond rituals or rocks and the effects that temp draw those cards are usually fairly expensive and thus, you're going to most often exile cards that you need to cast now or next turn, but can't because your mana is short.

Which cards did you have in mind, specifically, for good examples of this mechanic?
>>
>>55204873

New thread.
>>
>>55204727
you could say the same thing about basically every tribal deck though, its not the sliver players fault WotC designed them that way
>>
>>55199548
Change the shitty fetches and a couple of basics for allied checklands and enemy painlands and you got a manabase that comes in untapped 100% of the time after a couple of turns and like 80% of the time in early turns.

Also, where's Krosan Verge and Command Tower?
>>
>>55204905
>you could say the same thing about basically every tribal deck
>slam down mass wizards
>slam down mass dragons
>slam down mass angels
Unless your definition of "slam down mass X" is like 2 or 3.
>>
>>55204717
I was the dude that made the reply. Sliver queen is only one that can be actually useful and can be played with the actually useful slivers instead of stuffing useless shit like Megantic Sliver in there
>>
>>55201102
