What are some of your favourite combat resolution systems?
I was playing dead of winter the other day; and basically, your characters have a threshold required to perform an action (e.g. attack: 3, search: 5, barricade: no minimum), and you roll a pool of die. You roll the pool once per turn can spend the die how you see fit (assuming the result is above the threshold). I was a good simple mechanic for resolving the actions of multiple characters controlled by a player and it meant that you did things beside attacking every turn.
It got me thinking about other way of handling combat and actions, outside of the classic cast a spell or roll to hit. Have you encountered any systems that you’ve really liked from pen and paper, war game, board game or other?
Bumping this. I'm always on a lookout for systems.

Gumshoe. All rolls are 1d6. With no pretensions about being more.
