Dance of Death edition

Discuss what you backed, what you are backing, what you plan to back.

Big news is Bones4 has 30 hours to go, and this diorama just showed up.

Also on a side note: Dystopian Wars backers I am sorry, so very sorry
>>
>>55172571
I'm less excited for this. The notIndominus Rex has me hyped though, as it looks like it can be posed with the notTriceratops for a cool diorama

They eventually do, but the price does go up. The kickstarter prices of the models are pretty much priced at cost. When they go to retail, they become retail pricing.

thank you.
can you give me a quick run down how this works?
do i have to take a core set or?
>>
>>55175126
You do not have to get the core set. Just back at the $1 level and up your pledge to cover what you want. Use the pledge calculator to calculate how much your pledge needs to be, because it needs to also include shipping.
>>
>>55175126
pledge a dollar to get your foot in the door and then you can order most things individually.

I believe i read somewhere you'll be able to add whatever you'd like for a few months after the kickstarter had ended.
>>
>>55175204
>>55175213
thanks guys.

so I can even order single models out of the sets?
(i guess that are the numbers for?)
>>
>>55175239
No. If you want things from the cores, you have to buy the core set extras as shown. If you want things from the expansions, you must buy the entire expansions. The optional sets are listed individually and show their dollar amounts.

Just go to the pledge calculator and it's pretty self explanatory.
>>
>>55175239
Afraid not. They did that in previous kickstarters for models out of the core set and it turned into a clusterfuck. They've grouped them into subsets. If you look at the pledge calculator thing, that'll show you the individual bits you can buy separately. It's pretty split up, but it's not as much as it was in their previous kickstarters.

I only have 27$ so far, with the deamon that have a spell in one hand and the ice giantesses. Bought the deamon to make a Demon prince for my salves of darkness army that I will also buy some day, and the giantesses because I like cute giant girls, will likely use them as proxis for the gobbos army I have in AoS.

Planning on buying the little dice guys for my players as Im sure they will love them, 3 trolls expansions to make 3 units of troggoths for AoS (still cheeper than buying 2 of the original models), and the scenery for fantasy latter on as right now Im short on money. Ill see if down the line I want something else or a new expansions is cool.

Shame they are monopose, but at leas as they are plastic doing some little changes will be easier.
>>
>>55175708
Id be interested to see if the trolls are the same size as GW troggoths.

As for posing, reaper bones is extremely easy to cut up and convert, so it has that going for it
>>
>>55175768
Size is a point, and with the demon prince I dont really care either way, but troggoths could get annoying, still, its 38 dollars for 9 models and 6 extra ones I dont really need, againts the 23$ GW asks for one model, so if theu are smaller I don't really care.

Well you can always NOT order it and then regret it later, all the way until 2024 or some shit. Remember how slow they were in releasing the Anhurian footmen?

Now I'm actually really debating getting a core.

I've got 20 hours. It would be great for if I ever get an RPG group going again. The issue is that no-one locally I know is doing one, since I just moved.

Should I drop the $100? It doesn't seem bad, especially since I just got a salaried job since I just graduated from college.

>>55180224
an AoS ghost themed army for the death grand alliance

i think the ghost pirates would make really cool spirit hosts
>>
>>55180184
Ghost pirates are ghosts that then decided to be pirates; those are pirate ghosts who were pirates before they died then got turned into ghosts.
>>
>>55180222
I did.

Think of it this way; painted or unpainted, whether you get to use them in a game or they sit on your shelf, would they make you happy?
>>
I am still so disappointed with the Chronoscope expansion. I feel like they didn't even try with that one. So far I'm in for $180, getting most of the terrain items and giants.
>>
>>55180498
Yeah even the lost world expansion looks better. its disappointing
>>
>>55180498
Chrono doesn't seem to know what it wants to be
>>
>>55175278
Counting the ghost pirates, the core set is around $200 worth of individuals (The bonus goblins were in bones 3, $6 for 6)

So far I'm in for 57.03 in addons + shipping and $24 of core.
>>
>>55180244
I think that Spirit Hosts are among the more fun models to proxy. I have seen dudes just paint flagellants all ghostly and base them appropriately.

Okay, I just figured out how much what I want will cost, and its $610.14. Since pay day is Tuesday I'll need to just nab some later.
>>
Some quick questions.

1) Would the Blacksting Wyvern be able to fit on a square base to use in Warhammer Fantasy as an Orc mount?
2) What are the stone tiles supposed to be used for? Do you glue them together, do you just lay them out and use them as a grid for roleplaying?
3) What kind of thing would King Of The Jungle be used for? I'm having a hard time trying to think of anything other than MtG having elephant folk I think.
>>
>>55182846
1) no idea
2) simple quick dungeon tiles
3) it's for a creative DAM, or painted up to be a cool terrain piece
>>
>>55182921
>it's for a creative DAM,

>>
>>55182624

>>
>>55175107
Based off of the real Venus of Willendorf. Not really sure how I feel about a copy and paste historical artifact played as a mini somewhere.
>>
>>55172571
fuck I'm in for 700....
>>
>>55182846
1: no idea
2: roleplaying grid is the primary purpose, or decorative scenic bases. 2" square is 4 1" squares, so good for buildong rpg encounters that rely on grids.
3: It's a reference to Conan. Again, good for rpgs and display pieces.
>>
Not so fond of the Stones tiles. I'd rather get a 3d printer and print my own. And forty 2x2 squares isn't that much, either.
>>
What exactly is Reaper Bones? Is it a company? A series? A manufacturing technique?
>>
>>55183156
Reaper is a company, Bones is their product line of minis cast in Bones material (it's a cheapish kind of plastic)

The name Bones is kind of a play since the company is called Reaper and has a skull logo.

The kickstarter is a way for the company to finance producing tons of molds for these minis in this material, it's also a way for gamers to get tons of cheap minis
>>
>>55183183
It's a way for them to get the money to make the steel molds so they can cheaply made produce the minis. Plastic injection molds are terribly expensive, but once you have them, they pretty much print money
>>
~85$

mostly dragons
i feel dirty
>>
>>55175278
>$6 sneks

Fuck, I'm in for another $30.00. This is adding up quick!
>>
Do these minis get released to the public or are they all exclusive to Kickstarter?
>>
>>55183570
most of them already are in metal
the kickstarter should provide plastic molds for them to get them in plastic retail
>>
>>55183570
>>55183605
while all the models in the kickstarter will eventually be released to general retail sale, the process can take a few years. There are still figures from the 2nd amd 3rd Bones kickstarters which do not yet have general release.
>>
I'm having a crisis, I backed the first three bones, havent even touched my Bones 3 and still have a lot of Bones 1 and 2 to paint. Kinda want to jump on this but know I probably shouldn't
>>
>>55183521

>>
>>55187038

>>
>>55187038
Yeah. I'm surprised too. Seems like they were really holding some of the better stuff for last.

Looks to me like a rpg setting themed with lovecraft/d&d. The first guy is the BBEG, followed by your players or some npcs. A bunch of townsfolk npcs/villians, a few henchmen/meatshields, a boat for the dramatic combat scene on the swamp when the players get attacked by the toad monsters ect ect ect, I like it.

1. Interesting content, good quality, good value, repuatable company is a good asset and changes how much money I would soak into it. New company=less money because unproven means higher risk.
2. It finds me, but I can always check the main page and search results, plus since I've been using KS often they have many suggestions already set up for me at the click of a link.
3. This I would also like to know I have some custom 12x12 zombicide tiles I'd love to get printed.

Blog posts, friends, /tg/.

>>What the best printers to go to for an RPG book?
I use a local place that has "self-serve Fridays" with a 15% discount and charges $.07/sheet for black and white. Print on AT LEAST 20# paper, although the higher-test stuff isn't usually worth it for a Living Rule Book or something else you're replacing or updating frequently.

I use PrimoPDF to "print" the pdf file to a "print-ready" booklet format - flip on the short edge, usually - which lets me print it out in A5 size instead of A4. That pre-flattens the pages and cleans up some formatting shit, as well as usually letting you skirt people's bullshit embedded printing restrictions. Also print the covers to a separate file and get them on a heavier paper (~100# test Cougar coated stock is what I prefer).

If it's less than ~30 pieces of paper thick, most print shops will have a super-heavy-duty stapler called a "saddle stitcher". Things are boss, you use them for zines. Some can handle as much as 50ppg.

If it's over 30-50 pages, first trim and split the pages to get a nice booklety stack. Look up Japanese Stab Binding for the most durable method.
You can also do a softcover binding, which is pretty simple. Clamp the text block with those heavy black binder's clips from a stationery/office supply store, slice the spine repeatedly with a hacksaw down about a 16th of an inch/1.5mm, and then soak it in high-strength undiluted PVA or wood glue. Lay a trimmed piece of cheesecloth or other light cloth across the spine and clamp down to help hold it together. Once it's dry, cut another sheet of printer paper in half, glue it to the spine and then glue the insides of the cover sheets to the outside of it. Holds up well to gaming and costs fuck-all.

Don't go to Kinkos.

>>55191380
I wonder what the fourth would have been.
>>
>>55191594
Oh we're gonna get it. Probably at 60, 45 or 30 minutes left. It's not got a cash unlock, see? It's a hype builder.
>>
>>55191594

we'll see it at 60
>>
Got a question, bros: I can't afford to pledge unfortunately, but I have an account in the pledge manager: will they let people jump on the train for a limited time who couldn't pledge at all in the Kickstarter? I seem to remember them allowing this before.
>>
>>55191723
Probably not. But if you back for one dollar you should be able to pay extras on the pledge manager later, I think?
>>
>>55191723

Go in for the dollar and you'll have up to July next year to add in other stuff.
>>
>>55191752
That's what I was afraid of, but for stupid reasons I can't do that right now. Ah well. Gotta let it go, I suppose.
>>
>>55191777
Damn man. Noone in your play group be willing to toss a buck at it that you could then get minis through when you've got the cash?
>>
>>55191380

This was a stupid add-on. They could have gotten more people to buy packs like the broken up core. I like the mocking bed and the shark but fuck spending $50 to get them.
>>
>>55183521
>>55185584
$4 for Crocodile, Boar and Crab, don't miss them.
>>
>>55191856
Fucking aye, every year they put the best fucking skellies out of my reach.

Currently sitting on a $400 pledge with an $800 wishlist. The real kicker? thats before I convert to Australian Dollarydoos
>>
>>55191895

ouch, Canadabux here so I'm seeing a 30% increase in the final cost too.
>>
>>55191895
You used the planner thing to add the right shipping/tax on that?

Saves hassle later, easier to plan for. Gets us closer to three mil.
>>
>>55191856
I want the dwarves, earlier someone wanted the knights and someone wanted the portal. Maybe we can work out a combination. t leaf
>>
>>55191919
Yeah, all through the planner. The shipping is much better now they have Ætherworks doing it compared to kickstarter 1. I may as well, I've already put the 444 in. Thank god for my $7000 one off tax return this year.
>>
>>55191380
>That mammoth
Oh my. This expansion has some neat models yet.
>>
FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK they left Sophie and the most interesting mini of the KS to the end!
>>
And the final part of the Fan Favourites. Nothing particularly spectacular, but enough in it for fifty bucks now that I'm gonna get it.
>>
>>55192089
Furries, Arab women, a bard, and a Gygaxian monstah.

Cool.
>>
>>55191723
>>55191777
Kickstarter gives you a couple of weeks to fix it if your payment doesn't work, see if you can manage to get a pledge in.
>>
well, up to $142 now
>>
>>55192089
>unironically a flailsnail
FUCK

>>55192122
Oh dude, I didn't know that, that's cool.
>>
>>55192086
Huh. Probably not gonna get that, but it's about possible. It's about to tick over three mil, and that's still 25 minutes left.
>>
>>55192274

It's already in as a buy extra for the core set.
>>
We /3million/ now boys
>>
>>55192321
Makes the barge a bit better. Maybe will bump it up a bit more.
>>
Motherfuckers could they not have put some of this shit in earlier so we didn't have to wrestle with their overloaded pledge calculator while ten thousand nerds are also trying to use it?
>>
>>55192487

right?
>>
Looks like wrapping up at 3.04 million. Not quite up to Bones 2, but well above what 3 made.
>>
Not sure we're getting there lads, the counter is actually decreasing.
>>
Dammit, I am going to bite that bullet. Even though in my Easternistan VAT and delivery cost about 2/3rdsof the core set.

Guess I'll be pirating my next games to make up for it. Crap.

Also, seriously considering Dreadmere for a WFRP campaign, although the big fish makes no sense. Couldn't it at least be an aboleth or something?
>>
>>55192611
You'd better bite fast then. You've got sixty seconds.
>>
>>55192611
>Couldn't it at least be an aboleth or something?
It IS a !Aboleth. It's clearly meant to be one, it's the """Bathalian""" of huge fish monsters.
>>
>>55191382
>>55192321
Screw it, getting the big dragon.
>>
Just a smidge over 3.05M. Not a bad run.
>>
>>55192679
And they've thrown Sophie and friends into the coreset anyway. So that's nice.
>>
>>55192679

Might have done better if they added some of the cool shit from the last couple days earlier instead of saving it all for the very end
>>
>>55191533
I appreciate the detailed advice, but I meant printing large quantities of an indie game. I'm getting my ducks in order to launch my own kickstarter and I figured /tg/ was a good place to start asking around.
>>
>>55192694
I thought that was going to be the case, I wonder what death barge 3 was.
>>
>>55192615

Eh, I did it. It's good that Sophie and co seems to be added to the core, they look like good minis.

>>55192638
Kinda, but I was hoping for something more obviously mutated and otherworldly. Eh, I will probably pass. The core set + a few extras + paints will set me behind quite a bit already,
>>
>>55192704
I'll note that it's absolutely worth including, a cheaper PDF-only version. Shipping can be pricey, and not everyone who's interested in it is gonna be in the US.
>>
No final Stygian Barge.
Oh well.

I was hoping they'd bring out a Hades and Cerberus.
>>
>>55192814
It can also help you with logistics if you make physical copies US only.
>>
I'm just kinda sad we didn't get a little cute adventurers comic between the last two unlock "maps".
>>
>>55192881
Did they manage to deliver the scroll? People need to know!
>>
>>55192828

Makes it not even worth it. Better deal with Dance of Dragons. All that boats good for now is bumping up your shipping cost.
>>
>>55192814
.pdf being the lowest reward tier and included with all additional tiers was always the plan. Solid advice though, since people might not think of it.

>>55192871
It would certainly be easier logistically, but I dunno if it's worth making it harder for people outside the US to get physical copies. Maybe asking people outside the US to add an extra X amount for additional shipping costs?
>>
>>55193094
Additional shipping costs are a must, don't make the mistake of early kickstarter and have flat shipping.

I was just saying that if you really have so little idea that you need to ask /tg/ for publishers, then simplifying your distribution as much as possible is a good idea.
>>
>>55193182
I've never needed anything published before, so I'm just now starting my research. I thought /tg/ would be a nice place to start since in my experience, google rarely gives me what I'm actually looking for.

I got the darkreach expansion, the adventurers, and the cave dwellers, which should be enough to keep me busy for the next year -maybe? anyways, which size(s) of display bases does /tg/ think I should buy for what I got, I haven't based the minis I did in the past, so I'm a little stuck
>>
>>55193337
You realize this shit isn't gonna ship until early 2019, right? They need to finish doing the sculpts. Then they need to get the moulds made. Then they need to have the factory in China actually make up all the minis. Then they need to be shipped out to the three different places they're fulfilling orders from.
>>
Just got my 4 Orc warbosses from GTStudios the other day. No pics yet, only just cleaned them up rdy for building. First time I bought anything from KS and I am really impressed with the quality of the models.

Decided to back this oil rig looking terrain piece which I think will be good for Necromunda/shadow war games.

I'm aware that Imgur.com will stop allowing adult images since 15th of May. I'm taking actions to backup as much data as possible.
