wolves can take a terminator wolf lord which provides the standard reroll 1 to hit buff

other options are a wolf priest who can heal multi wound models which could help provide some durable to the terminators

Arjac is a costly leader but he provides a +1 attack in addition to a re roll to failed wounds

Logan is an even more costly alternative but allows wolf guard to ignore morale while being a very nasty beatstick himself

Ork anons, I think I have spotted a new model. Maybe I am wrong I have not played 40k in years but I always kept my toe dipped in the game and I could be wrong.

It might be a conversion of a deff dread or morkanought but I don't think it is. It looks like an up scaled dreadnought.

Page 53 of the new white dwarf. To the left of the text box, obscured by smoke effects.

The klaws look the same as the deff dread but it's face looks more forward hunched and I've never seen those two mini gun barrels before?

If you have the magazine you can see that the upper body is quite high up compared to a normal deff dread. Also the base of the model is just behind the meganob. It looks to be of the same size as that tau ghost keel (is that it's name?)
As I say I've not played in years but I always loved the orks and it looks similar but different enough to not be deff dread.
>>
Want to do my primaris guys up as Hawk Lords for that sweet purple armor, but the gold is gaudy so figure I'll pick a different company and deviate from the codex only on their one shoulder pads and just match the trim
5th company was wiped out (heroically) in 13th black crusade. Would it make sense to have my dudes be 5th company as reinforcements for easy black trim shoulders+Raven guard transfers or go 8th company for silver trim?
9th company for sweet hotline Miami aesthetics?
I realize that 8th and 9th company are heavy support squads but I got Hellblasters and aggressors anyway so that counts right?

So as far as can tell with this rule you can use it as many times as you like, but you have to settle what units are using it before you know who has first turn. Is that right?

Would-be Genestealer Cults player here. How good is a focus on acolytes, genestealers (and abberants), and Goliaths? I'm aiming for a more civilian force that's taken up arms with whatever they have, rather than involving the Imperial Guard.

I do intend to add in some Militarum Tempestus, due to ongoing fluff with a friend of mine. His Ordo Xenos inquisitor was trying to study the tyranid threat, and got killed in enough games to perma-die in our own little canon. So, his own acolytes were infected, and when they landed on the planet and were told to sweep the area, they instead shot him in the back and joined the population as military leaders.

Do you have to buy each gauntlet or just one? Seems pretty expensive if you have to buy two gauntlets per Aggressor. The Immaterium is weird and has been known to use mortal psykers as funnels of immense warp energy. So, while while nobody in the Imperium can even come close to the Emperor, Magnus, or other Alpha-Plus psykers in *ability*, massive uncontrollable surges do occasionally happen... though the bearers of such power usually blow up or are torn apart by daemons before long. Beta-level psykers like Ezekiel and Mephiston have been able to, at times, fill much of the void created by an Omega-level null, for example.

I would drop any small tactical squad you can't fit in a transport. Aside from caddying a marine with a heavy weapon, minimum size tactical squads on foot are gonna find it hard to contribute properly unless the list is designed around them.

So both in razors (at 5 or 6 man for capacity).

Since you really only need one lt to hang out with the centurion blobs for rerolls, why not make one a regular lt and send him off with the tacticals in one of their razorbacks? Or if you want to double down on the aura buff blob zone with pedro, lt, and apothecary on the centurions, maybe bring an ancient or a librarian.

Yes, I am absolutely trying to maximize aura effects for my army. Toward that goal I went with the chapter master buff from pedro, the wound reroll from the lieutennants, and the apothecary for wounds on them and the centurions.

Looks alright for a Infantry-only army but personally I'd try and squeeze in some Auto-Bolt rifles or Assault Incinerator things so you can make use of your chapter tactic even more.

Nothing is scarier than a unit of Intercessors advancing 14' and then getting to shoot 10 shoots at you.

Also Reivers are cool units; a squad of ten with knives can get 31 Attacks. With the White Scars ability to fall back then charge in, you can do some pretty outrageous shit with that.

While that may be true for some armies, you are using White Scar rules. Being able to fall back out of combat and charge is a pretty strong ability. With Knife Loadout, you double your attack output by being in close combat essentially, while making use of your morale ability.

Besides, they act as good tie-up units with that falling back ability. First turn you drop in, charge a infantry unit and slice them up. On your turn 2, instead of staying in combat with them, you can back off and charge a tank to stop it from shooting that turn, or charge another infantry unit to tie them up while the rest of your army plays catch up.

Any cult legion of CSM is by definition an elite specialised force, your troops are elites.
Example did a 750 point game against a friend, he brought 2 tac marines and a devastator squad, as well as Vulkan and a predator.
I brought Noise Marines, Daemon Prince, Exalted Champion and a Sonic Helbrute.
He outnumbered me by a large margin, my guns were better after I managed to get his predator off the field.
Also all the cult units have special abilities to set them apart from the basic Chosen elite option, as well as special wargear options.

Gotta make a chaos victory to make it look like Mortarion is a threat.

Imagine if GW hadn't rigged the numbers, the Imperium would have won every single planet, by a very fucking wide margin.

Mortarion's coming would have been weird:

>BEHOLD MORTALS, I AM THE CHOSEN OF NURGLE AND I SHALL SPREAD HIS DISEASES ON YOUR WORTHLEDS LI-...wait, where are my armies? Why did I just pop alone in a completely fortified Imperial system that easily repulsed every invasion on every world?

As it stands, GW will have chaos win so that Mortarion has a reason to come, because that huge planet has infested the whole system or whatnot.

Made some OC donut steel for my thousand sons derivative warband, can anyone tell me if it's edgy/marysue/boring or whatever?

>Two companies of thousand sons legionnaires were on a mission to investigate flash warp storms and the random appearance of daemons within a imperial system
>After fighting a bunch of daemons, they discover the source is from the local hive world
>They figure out a large chaos cult has taken root in the hive world and is attempting to bait a variety of daemon, xenos, and imperium troops to create a massive warzone and devastate the system, hopefully getting the attention of the chaos gods
>As the two companies take down the cult, they discover a terminator sorcerer has been guiding them
>Said sorcerer is at some point backed into a corner, and in a desperate attempt to salvage his operation he opens a huge warp rift, sucking himself, cultists, and almost one of the entire space marine companies
>This warp rift slowed the fluxes in the remaining legionnaires' gene seed, but left them with a partial amnesia. They presumed those lost in the warp rift to be dead.
>The surviving company would eventually go on to provide the foundation for the Blood Ravens
>However, the other company which went through the rift, affected in the same way as the legionnaires in the materium, also sustained a memory loss and geneseed mending, however their memory loss was more severe
>This also applied to the cultists and sorcerer who went through with them. After they all came to consciousness, they decided to band together to survive and thrive within the warp
>Eventually their warband began receiving "gifts" of tzeentch and were sometimes forcibly reacquainted with the post-heresy thousand sons proper.
>This band soon became known as the [[I need a name for the warband dubs decides]] and are still led by the sorcerer.

I have yet to come up with names for the characters/places, but I hope there aren't too many plot holes or inconsistencies.
>>
>>55165730
Model all the CSM as Chosen for a real elite force if you want, then they're even more points.
Alternatively, grab Noise Marine and/or Sonic Weapon Upgrade kits, they're resin which is annoying but they're not too expensive and Noise Marines are the best.

Might be a bit risky senpai. unless you're really good at keeping armoured stuff occupied or are versing squishy enemies like Tau, you might be in for a bit of a rough ride with most of your stuff hitting at S4.

Although you still do have your Aux Grenade Launchers, they aren't nearly as reliable as a Plasma Incinerator.

But to answer your question, Reivers. Drop them in, tie shit up, kill shit, wait for your chaplain to make his way down the board, then murder stuff extra hard. Aggressors are great, but their problem is while they advance, they are hitting on 4's, which kinda lessens how amazing they are (unless you take flamethrowers, but at that point, most of the stuff that needs to die will have been killed by Reivers)

Yup. Though he's only really useful when someone dies, so while you get a 50/50 free shooting attack when any of your cents would die, I'm not sure how worth it that is when there's not a whole lot of guys to die with. (have personally had pretty vicious results with hellblasters, though) While more expensive, librarian would be nice for the might of heroes, not that being T6 is particularly better than being T5 against most things anymore, but still. Could also keep you from getting smited to death.

Outside of the Flesh Tearers and the other "lost to the Black Rage" chapters, and the Lamenters, basically none of the other BA Successors have anything going on.

Sadly, they are also basically all just Red Marines too.

Close, 1200 IIRC. What I found especially funny, was the fact he claimed the Necron player had multiple superheavies (he didn't).
And the fact that Autocannon equivalents are the best things to fuck Necrons with, which the Marauder has tons of. Meaning he conveniently picked a great LoW to bully Necrons in casual play

I recently noticed this. There's like 12 chapters, and none of them have anything special going on but the lamenters and the flesh tearers - the others are just less interesting flesh tearers.

Which is odd when you think about how much there is to work with when it comes to super space warrior monk vampires.

For the record, a bunch of golden gods who are extra fanatical towards Sanguinius sounds awesome. Purging in the angel's name, acting based on psychic visions - blood angel flavored black templars.

OC. They're renegades under the name Dregs Fatalis. They recruit from skirmish survivors, deserters, POWs, and very rarely volunteers and reprocess them into Primaris marines. Using a bit of stolen gene seed and armor thanks to the cunning scheme of the Chaplain, who worked very closely on the Primaris project, the warmongering dickhead alpha chad of a Chapter Master fled into the Warp, commandeered a lost Space hulk, and now operates as a pirate and mercenary band that utilize fast attacks to grab the prize.

tl;dr Warmongering asshole reprocesses voluntold recruits into a renegade chapter that does whatever the money says to do and otherwise steals/blows shit up in their spare time

For those who have seen Gundam 00, it's essentially the worse case scenario of leaving Ali Al-Sachez without adult supervision. The Chapter Master and him are very similar

Give them greater importance if you want, like every one of them was destined to captaincy and then did something good or bad and goes under a vow of silence to the Honour Guard or something like that. But having a single squad of veterans for a whole chapter as their pinciple fighting force doesn't make sense.

Who thinks that gw will eventually make fast mover version (s) of primaris hqs?

I'm kinda thinking no, in that as an army, primaris seem like astartes designed from the ground up to be used for reinforcing ground forces in existing warzones. They're bulkier, more durable, and have greater ranged basic weapons. Meanwhile regular space marines have space marine shit, like drop pods, terminators for boarding actions and lightning strikes - all kinds of speartip wargear as well as the armored support to act independently. Primaris on the other hand have barely any air support, one type of tank, etc.

Brigades are stupid easy for Guard.

Elites, just roll some Special Weapons Squads in chimeras for one-shot plasma or demolition charge pain trains.

Heavy Support, use heavy weapon teams.

Fast Attack is the sparse one. Hellhounds are okay. Bane Wolves are actually good, but flimsy. Sentinels are cheap but shit because they can't bypass the heavy weapon penalty. Same with Tauroses.

Rough Riders are nice if you can make the charge, but you only have a 28% chance off an outflank to do it, so keep that reroll handy.

Tauros Venators are genuinely mean. 15" move BASE, if they move more than 10" they get an invuln, and they ignore the heavy weapon penalty for their twin lascannons/multulasers. Solid heavy recce vehicles.

They used to be just annoying whiners who demanded plastic regiments, sort of like SoBfags-lite. Conscripts were always good even in 6E and 7E, but they never saw play. Something about 8E and Conscripts made IG completely batshit obnoxious, maybe because all the IGfags were secretly just waiting for Conscripts to become 7E Taudar tier.

You'll notice there's barely any Tau or Eldar WAACfags left, and the level of obnoxiousness 8E IGfags exude is basically identical to 7E Taushits.

I'm new but I have no intention of ever doing that.

So far I'm thinking if I ever get a 2000 point army.

Hq= 2 Commanders, 1 Lord commisar

400 points of infantry
100 Points to be spent in special weapons like grenade launchers

Haven't figured out Fast attack

Heavy weapons? Well I bought 3 leeman ruses (essentially I have 3 getting started Imperial guard boxes so far). I have no idea what I'm doing yet. Reading 1d4chan however has made me like fortress ideas so the sabre weapons platform looks nice

Elites? Its going to be a hard struggle to pick elites. I really like a few like the tech priest, ministorum priest or master of the fleet.

Fortifications? I want two! Skyshield and either ageis defense or imperial defense line.

I also want a couple vultures and Valkyries! I kinda love the idea of high flying assaults.

>>
>>55166971
Custodes are supposed to be pretty good if you run them properly. Having Gulliman led by them is very good, but kinda scummy cause of reasons.

Deathwatch are okay, but people complain that they suck cause they don't have good rules or something similar.

Knights are a thing, but be prepared to be called a try-hard.

Harlequins are on the fence when it comes to Elite, and rules wise you are better off running them as Ynari so you get lots of cool Eldar stuff.
>>
Anyone else find it difficult to justify using small allied detachments in lists?

I used to about bringing a small assortment of things like the little scion formation or one of the allied detachments from imperial agents, but now with the way command points work, I feel like in seeking variety I'm screwing myself out of command points when I could be taking units from my main army in my main detachment to fill the same roles, but getting me more cp.

I'm just not sure why I'd take a patrol detachment of a different army alongside anything outside of purely narrative reasons

Mein negro

I've thrown together a dread heavy list as well, far as from what I've seen dreadnoughts are very hard nuts to crack and 3 or more advancing on the enemy can provide a good distraction soaking up good amounts of firepower while bringing some good guns to the table as well

Deep strike those terminators and either rush them into melee or book it for cover, cover camping terminators are harder to dig out than an Alabama tick

Each guys seems to be full of details, so the few I have are taking me a while. Say I make a Vanguard Detachment of Fallen led by Cypher, and I want to have allies.

1. Do I technically qualify for Chaos Space Marine stratagems?
2. If so, can I still ally myself with Imperium units (separated into another detachment) If i use CSM stratagems for the Fallen?

Well if you wanna charge something else it's useful.

If you wanna fight the same unit though you are better off just staying locked in combat. During the shooting phase, any model with a pistol who is engaged gets to take a shot, so all of your Reivers would be allowed to pop a shot off.

With somebody like a Warlord with the White Scars Warlord trait, you wanna get as many charges as possible off, so thats where that would come in handy.

The benefit is charging guarantees you first strike. Whether that is worth the overwatch is a tactical decision you make on a case by case basis. You can also leave one melee against something you don't want to fight and charge something you do.

Inceptors have the fly keyword, so they can always shoot after falling back without penalty, so they can hit and run even more. They're not great in melee but putting them into it can potentially save you from enemy shooting, so it's another tactical choice
>>
>>55167560
Yes, advance to close in/move in between cover and use the fallback/charge when you wanna switch targets or if your Warlord wants to do mortal wounds with the trait.

As much as I hate Inceptors I might have to look into getting a squad. They seem too useful to my set up, especially with fall back > shoot > charge. What weapon do they even fight in melee with...?

Also, what's generally better for Reivers? Grav chutes or Bat-grappling hooks? If I make my 1000pts list like it is here >>55166251 I was considering mixing the two to deploy them differently unless Grav Chutes just outright beat grapnels

8th edition deathwatch are a support army. You can fill up a corvus blackstar with a gimmiky kill-team and add that to a pre-existing imperial army for taking out specific targets, but Deathwatch on its own is just lacking in too many aspects to be properly playable.

None, so just basic attacks off the primaris statline. They do have a chance for mortal wounds on a charge but nothing to rely on. If you put them into melee it's because they're safer there than out in the open. So you'd melee eldar guardians, not howling banshees
