Do you think I could successfully pull off a diverse beastman army? Not just fishmen, I mean fishmen, catmen, and minofellows. Obviously fishmen would be used to overwhelm, while catmen are hit and run and minofellows tank, but I think I'm still missing out on some heavy units to really shift the tides of battle. Are their any beastfolk heroes or vehicle units you guys recommend?

Fluff question:
What do you guys think the High Orb is doing right now? We haven't heard anything about it since 2nd Edition. I can't remember which novel it was but it was mentioned off-handedly by Archscreamer Dan. Is it coming back into lore?
>>
>>55148613
Alright, I'll make it.
>>
What did that first edition book call the world back in '88?
>>
>>55148620
I feel like the High Orb was more or less replaced by the Orb Prince. Orb Prince didn't become a big thing until 3rd or 4th edition, I think, and both serve the same general idea.

>Mysterious leader figure of the Orbs
>Can only be directly contacted by magic
>Working with the Darkheart.
>Probably gay.

I think the High Orb might come back but he'll be a servant of the prince.

Gol, Watcher of the Beasts. He's not the best in combat, especially as a hero unit, but he helps with his passives. I'd run some Salvaged Mk. II Yeezy Drones to deal with aerial combat, but I wouldn't run more than eight.
>>
>>55148620
I think it was just some mcguffin from that novel, probably the author just made it up on the spot. It probably got retconned into the Merkabah that Zarvus used to go to space.

Look, I never believed GAME COMPANY was furry pandering before, beast folk have always been party of fantasy and all that, but some of the rumors about the next edition are freaking me out.

Apparently there's talks about custom "hybrid" figures where humans and beastmen, or beastmen with different species of beastmen, can now have hybrid kids with set rules for their mixed stats, with Zarvus' return being a lore excuse for it to mess with the world and allow that to happen. If this is true, it's going to cause the cringiest shit to start popping up.

Maybe we'll get lucky and GC will put out something more to do with the intrigue they Mal and Gol were getting into with the Alquire Empire.
Gol has a weird dark angry version of Aegwynn from Warcraft feel, at least in my mind.
I also half expect her to throw Maldogan to the wolves in the next book. Which would be shitty considering Mal had the only real character advancement.

I'm tired of people always grouping orb players as shitposters and meme spouters. Orbs have some of the best fluff in the game, not to mention being the basis of the game's mechanics before switching to power cards. They have the most creative freedom when it comes to their units and their tactics (not counting tricksters, maybe), and they are the faction with the most potential to change the slow dredge that lore's become with each edition just being the major three throwing locations between each other.

The best that's going to happen is a message from space "hey guys, like the work. Hope you found my mom, if you haven't, just remember: I'm named after her. Come join me, I found a nice vacation planet." or something like that.

Remember, one of the devs that created the SP left for a while to work on a space RPG, and one of the best armies is lead by a guy named... Guess what? Zarvus. And he sends a message with that effective content to a force that he hopes isn't too lost - he wanted them to find his mother.

Lorefags, I need your help.

Is Trivion dead, missing, or somewhere in the Dreamscape? I know his plan was foiled in the final book but it's never made clear whether that ritual destroyed him or just poofed him into another dimension, and if Zarvus does make a comeback, I have to believe that Trivion will too. Those two would be perfect enemies!
>>
>>55150153

Trivon.

Then he exists in the same state as Zarvus: bumming around the galaxy, having grand adventures.
So, effectively, another dimension.

Independent Squad rules from the Adventurer splat, or a hack of some RPG?
Actually, why don't we hack Adventurer rules to support roleplaying? Is it because of the tourney ban?

Are Broken Giants viable, weak, or broken?

I've heard their beefy units are a lot of fun but as a faction they've got a lot of problems.

When /tg/ sets their mind to something, they get to work. Just check out what they did las time they got into a setting with those Black Sun documents.
>>
>>55150422
It's low effort. Personally, I'm pretty worried about how much is being documented. The fun of these kinds of threads is keeping things as vague as possible.
>>
>>55150450
As long as no one tries to argue about the lore and just accepts that this is not a setting, but rather a made up fictional game with a made up setting in it, I think the document doesn't do any harm. Anything that goes against something else can be propped up to literal plotholes in the game's writing.

So why have the GAME COMPANY removed almost all stuff about the sunken temple of stars and diamonds? It was such vocal point on the early coming of the orbs storyline, combined stellar observatory/diamond mine who first spotted those celestial wierds before they fell on the world. It was so cool but then edition after edition they shrunk any details about it and now it's barely a footnote in the big book.
>>
>>55150465
It's pretty hard to take it seriously when one of the major factions is an army of techno-barbarians led by kanye west

Orb fans are more into the Orbs themselves than how the Orbs were found. It makes them more MYSTERIOUS and SPOOKY.
>>
>>55150466
Legal issues. Yes I am serious. There was a contract snafu with one of GAME COMPANY's writers, Snord Culverin, and the entire Stars and Diamonds quadrilogy became his property. GAME COMPANY quietly phased out the mentions so they wouldn't have to pay him royalties.

Leaked model for the new Powerlord Devastator. Personally I think the gun is a little too directly sci-fi but I guess since Powerlords are a pretty high-tech faction it makes some sense why they'd have one. Devastators have always been a nice counter to zerg rushing enemies so maybe this is GAME COMPANY's way of balancing out the current meta a bit.
>>
>>55150589
agreed, we should try for a basic level of consistency, luckily since we established that NEWG(Non-Existent War Game) has had multiple editions we don't have to be slavish about it either, inconsistencies that aren't too blatant can be chalked down to differences between editions and authors

also on another topic, how does everyone picture the setting, personally I'm kinda imagining it having an overall Central Asian vibe(with some Eastern European influences as well), but also with the occasional bit of Science-Fantasy weirdness of the Jack Kirby vein showing up such as with the Space Paratroopers, the Yeezians, Orbs,
and Power Lords(kinda like how Warhammer Fantasy during the late 80's and early 90's had the occasional random sci-fi bit from 40k show up in the background)
>>
>>55150718
You can tell the creators drew upon some sort of silver age comic book vibe with some kung fu and cold war space race mixed in.
Watch when Zarvus returns they will probably make 6th edition go all Anime.

But he's so broken. I don't even really need Adventurer to pull of the most broken Lester combo
>SP army
>1 Lester
>SP medics, 2 squads
>Dragoons, 2+squads
>SP Troopers, 2+squads
>2 or more Drop Bunkers
>Attachment Point equipment Power Cards
and Lester and Dragoons can be bought as Mercs.
Now, every SP model has the "Heart Kick" ability, which can be used once per game per model (not unit, model) to bring back a dead unit at half wounds. Lester has his Death Clone ability, which activates upon his death to create a new Lester at half wounds. And Lester's corpse counts as its own unit, which is why every Lester model comes with corpse tokens.
Start game with Lester as part of the initial drop that SP starts with, in formation with the Medics. This kills Lester immediately and activates Death Clone (who is still in formation), but a medic in formation gets an immediate action when wounds are received. Activate Heart Kick on one medic for the corpse, while medics two and three perform full heals on both. Medics regain Heart Kick when you burn three PCs or on a 8+ (which Lester aids at +2 for each instance of him on the field - confirmed in errata), so spend the first couple of rounds digging in while using the Feeding Frenzy ability of the Dragoons on Lester to generate corpses that trigger Heart Kick and healing. Keep activating the Attachment Points equipment cards on your regular army while building up Lesters. Finally, attach 5 Lesters to each SP Trooper using Attachment Points.
See where I'm going with this? Dragoons have the Catapult Tail ability, which can use other units as ammo. Once in the sky, each Trooper can use their Death From Above and auto-kill most units on landing, with knockback. Deploy Lesters - 5 per Trooper model, and you can launch a full ten man squad per squad of Dragoons. Use the Bunkers to defend your position while building up the Lesters, and you'll wreck anything with his attacks. 1 is bad enough, but 50 at a time?
>>
>>55150718
They way I see it, GAME COMPANY's clearly aiming for each major faction to appeal to a different genre.

>Red River Kingdoms for the weebs who like the more Asian vibes.
>Neo-Alquire for normies and european fantasy fans.
>Yagmon Coalition for Conan/Savage World types
>Mountain Fiefs for grimdark
>Orbs for lovecraft nerds

Sprinkle the sci-fi stuff between everyone and its' a big mash of everything.

I was able to snag a Trickster model for Diddlestar Flowmo Kintasnap James at a convention for a steal, and I'm reading up on his rules.

How exactly does "Wish" work? It says you can "ask for any one thing past enemy lines, and the enemy player must give it to you" but not much else. Does this mean a unit? A control point? A power card? What are the limits of this skill? It destroys Diddlestar after you use it but is this a broken ability broken if I just ask someone to hand over their strongest unit?
>>
>>55151015

>>
>>55151057
>Using the Adventurer splatbook

1e didn't have resurrections, and it doesn't look like they're going to try and fix it - they can't, since by lore and rules Ressurections work on Lester (which is why Black Witches can field a lesser version of this).
Now, most people try to stop this by designating maximum points for a list, but there's a way around - the only SP units you need is a Quartermaster and the two Bunkers. Other units are Lester (of course), Dragoons, and Mountaineers, all of which can be Mercs. Power Cards still include Attachment Points.
Use the Quartermaster's pregame ability to designate the army as a Heavy Assault Force, which lets you double-class one unit as Medics. Use that on your dragoons, and designate all units except the Bunkers as Auxiliaries, which means they fly in instead of pulling a Drop. Use his equipment choice for Recall Beacons, and use those on the Mountaineers. Initial setup has Lester in formation with the Dragoon/Medics. Feeding Frenzy can be activated before battle, which triggers Death Clone, Heart Kick, and healing, so you land with two Lesters, who then add a +4 to the roll for restocking Heart Kick (which is now at 10+). Immediate deployment should start with Feeding Frenzy on both Lesters, which triggers another round of Death Clone, Heart Kick, and Healing.
Now, I just reread the rules, and the Medics Heart Kick can be triggered alongside Healing, meaning you can get 10 Lesters per round.
Mountaineers don't have Death From Above - they have something almost as good: they transfer falling damage onto whatever they hit with Tuck Roll and Kick, which adds to the base damage from Catapult Tail, and they get a free attack. Units released from Attachment Points get an attack, since movement was taken up with disengaging. Aim for the biggest thing your opponent has. Drop off the Lesters and activate Recall Beacons to get the Mountaineers back for another load.
>>
>>55151181
Feeding Frenzy is a free action, as is the reactions Medics get. Keep 10 Lesters in formation with the Dragoon/Medics, and you can keep churning out reinforcements.
>>

>>
>>55151714
Seriously, Succubi could wreck entire units with the right buffs, and her passive was resisting the debuff they took for a buff. Fucking triple summon and buff succubi at the start with her, then use Alisaette with a Ritual Circle and 3 Chanters to max summon orbs to burn on sorcery buffs for those gals. Add Lilianna for her double Imp summon, and grab Elize equipped with The Tome of Dead Knowledge to cycle your deck and keep a Skeleton Squad on hand. Even if you don't build that right you could still be self-sustaining in terms of keeping the summons refreshed. Build it good, and you had rounds where the cards lined up with orb charges and you could spot summon 4-5 Exploding Imps anywhere on the map.
But that was third edition, and they haven't let us see an actual update to the summon rules since. Now you only get the one before battle, instead of resource juggling to keep a house of cards going.

I think Games Company is hesitant to update the summoning rules because of the skill cap that's involved (deck management).
Anyone worth their salt that plays Black Witches could (in the current edition) resource juggle their deck and have a gaggle of support summons to reinforce their standing Alquire army.
The amount of tarpitting that would occur would be disgusting.
Of course you'd have to take out a bunch of your end game power ritual cards like Blood Sacrifice, Black Moon and Hex of Damnation or else you'd get stuck with a hand you can't cycle proper.
Which would be a fine balance in my mind.
Maybe we'll get lucky and they'll drop a summoner supplement. (I'd like to use the gaggle of skeleton and imps I've acquired over the years for a change)
Until then I'm going to continue to run sorcery buffs and end game rituals for synergy with my Alquire fuckers.
>>

And Engineer adds 2d to the entire roll?

A friend of mine just got the Burning Tower scenario rules and he wants me to play it with him. It's pretty basic stuff, his army has to get to and destroy a tower in the center of the map, I need to defend it and either wait out a number of turns for "reinforcements" or find ways to decrease the timer with victory conditions. What are some good armies that would work good for a defensive scenario like this?
>>
>>55156134
Mountain fiefs if you can plan hard enough
If not RR elite armies soth some inperial overseers and frankcock death clones will do just fine
>>
>>55156691
Where in the world am I supposed to find a Frankcock? Last time I checked all the scalpers got the rereleases and jacked up the prize to crazy degrees. I might be able to borrow a Mountain fief army from a friend but I don't really know them well.
>>
>>55155673
Realknigga Krippkilla can buff the effects of it pretty well.
>>
>>55156134
As >>55156691 said, Mountain Fiefs. As he said, it takes planning. Mountaineers are your main unit, with some Ram Knights for a mobile force, a few Masons to create defensive terrain, some Crossbow Hunters, and maybe a hero or leader - it's a great scenario to figure out which one has buffs that fit your tactics. Take lots of Scout Wings, or Leaping Boots in your deck, Boots preferred.
Burning Towers defender gets a free turn at start of game, and Masons can drop a fortification in the pre-game deployment, so you start with two turns of terrain control. Moutaineers have a climb speed that out speeds the stairs rules for the tower, and the height from being at the top allows them to jump and use Tuck Roll and Kick. Equip them with the Boots to get extra height or range, and then make a quick getaway up the cliffs or over your fortifications. Scout wing allows the range increase, but doesn't allow the same getaway speed - but the climb is still great. You just need to keep plenty on hand to refresh their limited uses.
The tower also buffs the range on the Crossbow Snipers, as expected from anything with a height advantage, and the Ram Knights get Leaping Charge, which means they ignore any terrain change under 5 height when making their movement.
Deploy the Crossbow Snipers on top of the Tower and keep harassing the opponent with ranged attacks, keep dropping fortifications to make impassable walls with your Masons, Ram Knights for Hit and Run, and keep cycling your Mountaineers in and out of combat and using Tuck Roll and Kick to send the falling damage to your opponent's army.
Mountain Fiefs also makes one of the best offense armies for this scenario, so be careful. If he uses Dragoons to launch his Mountaineers, keep the Crossbow Snipers in Overwatch to thin their ranks and sacrifice a few squads of your Mountaineers to wipe the Dragoons. The Masons will be partially useless, but the fortifications can still slow him down.

I've been a pure Fishman player for too long. Swarming is great but I feel cheap now since everyone knows that's the current meta, and soon enough Game Company's going to balance it out. I'm hoping I can start to incorporate my fishboys into some other armies, but I still want them to tournie friendly. And is there a way to have orbs and fishmen fighting alongside each other?

No problem, I helped playtest it before it even got submitted to the devs.
My bit of helpfulness? Keeping the tower as a separate hex tile (deluxe version has the tower as an actual tower, not just a graphic on a hex tile), so you could drop it into what ever map or scenario pack you want.
Hell, grab one of the chessex hex-grid battle mats, or even a pack of the wet-erase battle tiles if you don't want to draw the tiles over and over again (and the 35mm minis are a bit awkward on a hex grid sized for 28mm), then drop random terrain features in different environments so you really see what army is good at defense.
>>
>>55157920

By current rules, you could fit them everywhere.
In practice they work well either alone or in Yagmon, period.
Catmen like >>55157830 said would be a better choice, also they don't get played often so you have surprise on your side.

Them having Nightvision would make them strong if played with Cloud of Darkness or Black Moon, but you need either BW or NAE cards. Also they get Climbing, so there's actually a build with the Yeezy Walking Fortress that's stupid af but could work.

>>
>>55158033
>>55158022
I'll describe how it was originally. The original hack used Warhammer Fantasy as a base.

Essentially every Player would have a unit that they themselves own. This unit would generally be from 5-10 pieces. This unit would be defined by a "Standard Job" which every member of the unit has as a base for their stats, and "Promotions". Promotions came in a variety of flavors, including making someone a bannerman, musician, or leader of the unit. However it also gave specializations like physician, scout, woodsman, accountant, and more. Each individual piece contributed towards a unit's stats. A big part of the game was making sure your army was supplied, they had work, your pieces were outfitted, morale was high, etc.

These indivudal pieces each could be controlled and their specalizations made use of out of combat. Therefore you essentially have several characters each with their own thing.

Now the players together came to form an Army. An Army has both the units of the player's, but also Army Resources. These were often in the form of siege engines, monstrous creatures, and other strange units.

When participating in engagements both the Army and the Units earn XP. These are used to purchase those jobs I talked about earlier. For armies it is used to purchase tactics and clout. The army sheet has such things on it like Army Relations with various factions, your current contract holder, army resources (like the siege engines), etc.

What did he mean by this?
>>

Now for some differences for this game.

Now with power cards I can imagine each player having a Power Deck and an entire army having it's own Power Deck defined by army resources. Power Cards would be added to your player deck dependent unit upgrades, a physician would have a related power card. Base units would add a number of power cards to pad out your deck. When you break into individuals each character would have their associated power card or cards.

The only unit type I can envision having more than one card to themselves would be more powerful mages. Most mages wouldn't even have a spell power card for themselves, but instead multiple mages share a spell power card they add to your deck along with their individual normal power cards.

Originally how unit acquisition worked for races was that it was fairly strict by army faction, but with minor factions being a thing having mixed units/armies seems appropriate. Especially if you have them simply costed differently.

>Offensive armies
Mountain Fiefs can do great offense on the vanilla scenario pack, Space Paratroopers can pull some great stunts (delayed deployment for everyone but a Scout Trooper with a Pod Beacon. There's enough terrain to make your Crossbow Snipers almost worthless against him and he can outrun just about anything the Mountain Fiefs has. Just keep Overwatch and pull an Aim buff on them for when the Drop starts), and... I think Night Clan, if he remembers to use the Stealth rules.
Just keep the Masons working, maybe supplement with a Trapmaster or two. A Fire Priest for healing is a great idea, and with the Blessed Weapon buff he brings, you can swap weapon damage for any sorcery or ability - including his own healing, so keep him in formation with the Crossbow Snipers to heal your units at range.
Keep Overwatch if he brings out any fliers or Dragoons, and choose your leader carefully - I suggest Baron De'Loriel for his Moving Bunker ability - you get fortification bonuses if you move at max speed in your turn, or double them if you take the Hunker Down action in the movement phase.
Other than that, the list I gave you can counter just about everything with the basic abilities in the vanilla scenario.

>>
>>55158178
They're okay on this map, especially with Engineers, but a few Trapmasters with the Jumping Jackies advancement and Crossbow Snipers in Overwatch can wipe or full-on pin down a drone force. Plus the thing has lousy wounds, and the armor can be overcome by the sheer damage output a Mountaineer can pull with Tuck Roll and Kick - remember, that hits their target with the falling damage, and gives a free attack, which can be taken before landing - and since they have the Flying tag before landing, they can melee the drones.

You can only play Mammoth Riders with Broken Giants if you're fielding Smoke-in-Chains or Hunts-at-Dusk. I'd recommend SiC because of better synergy.

They're a fun faction. Surprisingly interesting lore too if you go looking for it. Though they are still just the bandits of the setting.

>>
>>55160578
As soon as the new book for the Golden Union comes out, the cities for Neo-Alquire will be great.
>>
>>55160578
Neo-Alquire has only been building their cities for 40 years. Mountain Home has been settled for over 300, and they have planning committees.
Seriously, the Under Home novels has them a plot point in the third one, Madness Sewers.
>>
>>55160496
Smoke and Hunts are both similar and have their uses. But Smoke can utilize Earth Crusher and Hunts cannot. Now normally this wouldn't matter since all Mammoth Riders have EC, but according to RAW a unit cannot be hit by EC from more than one Mammoth Rider unit per turn per turn. Smoke may have EC, but he's not explicitly a Mammoth Rider, meaning you can blast an enemy with 2 EC's per turn. Until Games Company errattas that it's basically your only defense against hordes, it's not a great defense, but it's something.

They are, but remember that the MF honor-raids specifically leave infrastructure alone. So they never burn the farms or salt the fields, or collapse the sewers, or any number of the tactics that canonically got used on the area that would become the NAE during the Yeezy Civil War during 3e (and remember that the 4e introduction of the NAE had them being a formerly unimportant client state of the Yeezy until a civil war. Despite the retcon of 1e and 2e that they brought to the lore, they did fit with the established 3e lore)
>>
>>55148585
Diversify? Past 3rd Ed you can't play Eldrich or Strange Aeons with non-fishmen allied units in your army. And don't tell me fishmen don't win or lose on power cards. Fishmen had always been a power card army.

Catman the 1st didn't do "nothing", he actively chose not to interfere with the First Emperor's plans because after he died, he connected with FE's soul and realized that he was suffering the visions of the Red River Kingdoms disbanding from the empire. From there, Catman knew that the beast races would eventually unify under Yagmon and pose a legitimate threat to the RRKs from there. Catman gets to enjoy seeing everything fall apart.

I'm trying to start up an Imperial Court Red Kingdoms army, since they really don't seem to get too much attention and the synergy they offer is really cool, but what's the best way to handle them? Focus on keeping distance with those crossbowmen and Blood Knights keeping people distracted? Making my main bulk out of Riverfolk tribesmen and dogs? Or just putting in whatever while Scream Wizards handle everything? And yes, I have plenty of power cards.
>>
>>55163310
Stick to high level elites like Blood Knights for the core and bulk out the army with tribesmen/dogs.
If you can stock a lot of PC's then Scream Wizards are fine, just don't rely on them with irregulars since once they cut through the chaff of your army, the SC's are done for.

And Imperial Court finds it's advantages in the elites anyways.
>>
>>55163310
You can always add in Lester Frankcock for a fluffy option since you're doing RRK.

On another note, does anyone else find the telescopic bases for the Space Paratroopers to be fiddly as fuck? I get that we need to establish altitude, but goddamn they're hard to put together.
>>
>>55163379
I like that. A mix between regal Blood Knights and wild folk. Fits with the whole Red River Kingdoms' sense of various cultures coming together. I want to avoid scream wizards if I can since they've become such a big meme here, so maybe I might just focus on melee and ranged, or at the very least put in a Fire Priest here and there if I need some power card help.
>>
>>55163466
Game Company's too distracted thinking of the next gimmick to make sure their older stuff actually functions correctly. You might want to find some third party stuff to help you out there.

Reaper is 7mm too small, but it'll work. Just be prepared for comically oversized bits if you choose to convert a mini from another line.

I did see a Sage-Emperor with Golden Union and Gilded Isles bits added on for a Trivon a few weeks ago. Looked pretty good.
>>
So does anyone else believe the theories that the Orbs are actually trying to run away from whatever faction the Darkheart and the Dream King truly are part of? I mean from what we understand, the Elysium is a really sweet place. But if that's the case, why would the Orbs want to leave it?
>>
So the Despairing Depths novel has the Space Paratroopers send their last FTL message probe off to request a proper base ship, with the manufacturing and training centers they don't have now, and they said it would be about 4 years before they heard back. Well, it's been 8 years in game and a full edition since! What happened? We still have the damn ammo cap per battle, and the fluff promises of exchanging that for lower damage with research into local materials are still unmentioned!
Why? Is Zarvus the only SP fluff they can remember?
>>
>>55167096
Real answer: Games Company forgot about them in favor of more Zarvus details.

Potential story answer that could make it work: It's revealed that all their communications, and even how they perceive time alongside everyone on the planet, is off. The Space Paratroopers experience time at a much slower rate, so what's 8 years for us is 4 years to them. And Zarvus didn't just vanish forever for no reason, to him he's hardly left the front door. It would tie in perfectly with the Space = Dreamscape theory.
>>
>>55167159
Then why don't we have the lowered power guns option? They didn't have an ammo cap in 3e, or earlier, and then they had them in playtest for 5e before removing them?

It was the fucking Orbs, wasn't it? They were the only force that could hit flying without penalty, and Games Company just loves those little bastards.
>>
>>55167615
Orbposters make up an unfortunate chunk of Game Company's customers.
>>
How the fuck did Tricksy Trixi get released in her current state?

I have to burn at worst three power cards to even reliably hit her through her fucking afterimages and this is a character that drops right into any list you're running in tricksters. Who already steal power cards every turn. I ended with one power card for five scream wizards TURN TWO

This shit is ridiculous. I should sell my wizards and become a ballboy
>>
>>55163190
Lol. It might have lead to orb faggotry but Undeep Ones with Trident (pre nerf) and Impure Crown was the best unit/equip combo in the game. So much power generation abuse. So fun to play.
>>
>>55168786
Allocation was great, even if it lead to orbs. We already played with tokens to represent power points, it made sense. GAME has always been more about resource management than fantasy operators operating fantastically.
But you know what they say, amateurs study tactics, professionals study logistics...
And I don't see that many pros these days...

it's actually a bit of both, the Space Paratroopers are indeed originally from Space(but space is weird in the NEWG universe, so it's also kinda the Dreamscape as well), but they've been on the NEWG world long enough that they've been interbreeding with the locals, so while a at least a third of all Space Paratroopers are of the original generation(since they age at an extremely slow rate compared to most other known races), most are second or third generation these days, Space Paratroopers who despite the name haven't really seen much of space(well beyond the Moon that is, they don't really have the ability to go interstellar with their remaining supplies and knowledge, but going to the moon is pretty simple in comparison)

well that and when they were introduced in NEWG 2E, the original models for the Space Paratroopers were models from another company that GAME COMPANY had purchased and added to NEWG as at the time NEWG was Game Company's only game

>>55174519
>Only in the armor.
that was only the case in the first printings of 4th edition, the fans hated that change so much that they retconned it back to the way it had been from 2nd edition when they did the so called 4.5 Revision edition(admittedly that was done more to fix some massive printing errors that had effected 2/3rd of all copies of the original 4th edition book, but they also did some rule and fluff changes as well)

according to the rumor mill the Bird People are supposed to be coming back within the year actually, supposedly they now function like most other regular sized units do, they just have some special abilities to represent the extra speed and agility them flying brings with them, rather than the over-complicated systems they had in the past(similarly this rumor indicates that the Bird People's return to being playable will be the spearpoint of a new wave of units for the various factions adding similar flying units to them)
>>
>>55182277
Hopefully those rumors are true, it'll be nice to see them back on the field. Maybe we'll even get to see some fluff updates to explain what they've been doing while Yogman's been expanding.
