OK then, although I'm still a little sceptical.

Mostly I'm just sick of my faction always being either irrelevant or incompetent. No priests exist in BL books that aren't dogmatic idiots that cause problems, Forge Worlds never manage to deal with shit themselves and are always taken down by stuff that they shouldn't even consider major threats, like 1/1000 the minimum Skitarii garrison for a major Forge World's number in Orks or a few thousand Marines and Imperial Army like on Mezoa, where the writers cut the defenders for an entire planet to less than 15 thousand and said the FW was crippled for decades because one Magos died and one forge was shot up with bolters.
Fucks sake, at least the Nids are given the decency of being killed rather than just ignored completely whenever we might get in the way or having every single battle we're in stolen by the Astartes. Would it kill the writers to have one or two books where they actually spend ten minutes to get their maths remotely close to proper scale? Or point out that the Imperium would pretty much instantly collapse without us so some Admech must be good at their jobs?

Yes, orks are everywhere and Ghaz is uniting them bit by bit, having that as a unified force would break the Imperium even further because at this point they would not be able to take an organized threat coming from an enemy that outnumbers them, they barely managed fighting off the Beast and thats when the Imperium wasnt being fucked by Chaos, Tyranids and had the Tau nibbling at their tits.

Enjoy any games recently /tg/?

I got a game in with my new possessed, raven guard vs crimson slaughter, they managed to run and and chop up lots of venguard veterans while tanking lots of wounds.
That was on the first turn of the game even, I think we lost half our armies on the first turn shooting each others to bits and slicing each other up in melee, after that he killed all my units but lost so much he didn't have enough to get off my end of the board before being shot down.

By defending the boarder's objectives, the main bridge and power source or gellar generators. You dont need to hunt them down when they'll come to you and if they just wanted to fuck your guns up then you can fight them there.

>>55141493

Fist and scourge or double las and missiles for maximum efficiency.

Fist n scourge better on melee legion tactics like world eaters or renegades while las n missiles on shooty legions like alpha legion.

They're kind of squashy and can't do their job as well as regular legion brutes without the free bonuses.

Use them to fill in gaps you have? If you're running lots of rubrics then you're pretty shooty and vulnerable to melee, maybe give it a lascannon and scourge so it can join the gunline but then lurge forward and counter attack any approaching melee troops.
>>
>>55141677
It literally was a nonissue and a mild bug. Anticipated and fixed in so many applications that barely anyone remembers it today. They wouldn't even regard it as anything but a bug.
>>
>>55141579
>Which is?

At the core of the ship, the power source and main engines should be deep inside the structure at the end of the ship and its not impossible to build a 3 dimensional perimeter around those locations as soon as boarders are confirmed and its not like they are using all personnel to build that when they can potentially send the rest of armed serfs to push them away.

Yeah basically.

My current idea is that he was unknowingly in a time loop set by a daemon prince that he had banished as revenge, forever doomed to get torn apart trying to keep an important imperial world (and his trusted companions) from being eaten by a daemonic apocalypse. Each time he would fail horribly in some new way until he accidentally encounters an alpha level null that brings him out of the loop and restores his now thousands of years of torturous memories.

Also to rub it in, leaving the loop essentially erased him from time, causing him to lose all of those precious companions he had thousands of years of memories with, as they'll never have met him.

I don't know, I hope it sounded 2000 AD enough.

>>55141716
The bridge and sometimes auxiliary bridge are usually on the top of the ship with giant windows

The thing powering the ship is the plasma generator and probably the most well-guarded portion of the ship.

There is no up or down in space but even if we assume all the gravity generators are facing the same way they could takes trains through the ship and the men at arms on board probably spread out through the ship to consolidate on specific parts when shit goes down.

How do naval battleships defend themselves?

Not the guy you're replying to btw.

I ran a Meka-Dread on the weekend in a 3 game tournament. No rules for the Mega-Dread yet.

Overall, he's not brilliant. He sort of stradles the line between a Deff Dread and a Gorkanaut, both in terms of points and killyness. T7 is a big downside; makes him much squishier than the Gorka. I ran him with 2 Ripper Klaws because that's how I built the model, and they're pretty killy; Str 12, Ap-3 and D6 damage. But it's still just 6 attacks, meaning they're only really good vs elite stuff. The Gorka on the other hand can get 18 attacks, all at Str 8, Ap-2 and 2 dmg each, instead of its 6 big smashy attacks. That makes them very versitile. In all 3 of my games my Meka didn't really accomplish much, whereas my Gorka, whenever it got stuck in, was a real blender.

The Ramshackle Monster rule is pretty pointless overall; sure it sounds kind of useful but I'd trade it for a flat invul save any day of the week. I think it saved 2 wounds the entire day, and I mean I rolled poorly, sure, but you can't count on it for much. Mega Charga is very good however; effectively it guarentees you a first turn charge with a 16" move.

so due to a small mixup, I ended up accidentally buying a primer of Leadbelcher rather than mechanicus standard grey while I was priming my new Commissar.

Deciding to roll with it, I painted him up as Destro, but now I'm considering converting all my commanders/characters to members of COBRA

So far I have:
Destro: Commissar
Cobra Commander: Company Commander
Baroness: Platoon commander
Stormshadow: Callidus or Eversor Assassin

what others should I have?

Boston doesn't look that bad just from that map. Had a friend who took me on holiday to Italy once, and some of their towns were probably designed as tributes to Tzeench with the amount of tiny side streets and random inconsistent mazes there. Kinda fun just to wander, though.
Then I visit New York and all the directions are instantly obvious and easy to infer. Sometimes I wish Britain had got the chance to forward plan everything, the local castles we get in return aren't really an exciting trip anymore and our attempt at a ringroad is a horrible monstrosity of evil.

Why bother anon? You know took all this time screencapping shit, but you must know what people are going to say in response. You know it, and you probably have some counter arguments prepared, but in the end, you can't really definitely, conclusively say it's wrong, because the setting is too broad, too bullshit, and the character in question is designed to get this response. So I'll say it just to get it out of the way:

>He's as dead as disco.
That's what Alpharius wants you to think.

>Dorn can easily see through Alpharius shenanigans
That's what Alpharius wants you to think.

>Omegon believes that he's dead
That's what Alpharius wants you to think.

I don't have to, I can just look at some 80's and 90's construction projects around where I live, where whole blocks have been built by the same company on the same template, resulting in scores of buildings that looks alike with no distinguishing features.

But aren't Hive Worlds the result of thousands of years of building and repairs, which should make the structures far less monotone and much more varied, as pieces are falling apart and being repaired with thousands of years of construction knowledge, skills and philosophy between them. I always picture them more like old Mega City One with all the goofy buildings and shit, rather than a monotone grey blocks like in the last movie.

A lot of them still have the walls, and there's a few in Britain like that too. Bunch of random wall sections around Exeter, for instance, since at some point in the intervening years between the rest being knocked down and now they became History, and therefore sacred. We can't do new towns, though, since we always try to build them like a natural rambling town and it looks kinda uncanny valley since everything is new. Looks normal from above and then you go there and everything has the exact same level of weathering and such, it's wierd.
At least we don't have those huge empty cities like you see occasionally, where they were a bit optimistic with their population estimates. That would be creepy as hell to live in.

They're more like cities like Rio or São Paulo. The richfags build their glass spires and the scum build their favelas around the bases. As the filth breed more, they build their favelas taller, and then the richfags build higher to avoid them. They'll close off the lower levels of their swanky buildings and the scum will swoop in and create more shanties, or the richfags will turn the lower levels of their buildings into factories so they can get richer still.

Basically I cut the wine bottle corks into short little strips, and then glue it on top of the base, then the model on top of the cork. The model and cork gets primed and painted together, then I add a bunch of basing material.

Honestly it's a pretty simple and neat way to make the model look a lot better if you're starting out. Just paint the cork in some kind of concrete colour, and then add plants. But the problem with competitive people is that it makes the model like 2 milimeters taller, which apparently gives you a small advantage in "True Line of Sight"

Basically if people want to bring back the days of old vehicle rules and not be cancerous, GW has to put bases on all their vehicles and go volumetric with their line of sight rules.

No it wasn't, faggot. People wanted the vehicle wrecks to remain, but you didn't want that to happen because it relies on TLOS. What you didn't seem to understand is that nothing fucking changes because vehicles ALREADY block line of sight. Ergo your issue with the vehicle wrecks remaining on the board is moot by the very fact that the rule applies regardless. You introduced the secondary argument only when you got called out. Your secondary argument had no bearing on the discussion that was already taking place.

>>
>>55144430
Vehicle wrecks remaining is bad because it is TLOS. The TLOS rule is a bad rule and it is a bad rule choice to make/resurrect a rule that is founded on the basics of the bad rule

If the wrecks are to come back, it must be done so that LOS rule itself must be fixed first. Make the vehicles actually hold a volumetric space of defined dimensions. Once the LOS rules get fixed, every LOS interacting rule, including terrain effects can be implemented without issues.

Removing TLOS and actually having vehicles on bases also brings back the option of having facings and fire arcs on vehicles since those arcs can be put on bases.

Since GW refuses to put bases on their tracked vehicles, we can't afford to bring in more LOS based vehicle model interactions.
>>
>>55144570
You do fucking realise that by making vehicles occupy a volumetric space does nothing to solve your TLOS issue, you fucking retard. You make it worse, since the vehicle occupies a larger space than it physically does, because, and this might shock you, you need TLOS to see the fucking BASE THE MODEL OCCUPIES LOOOOOOOL

No you don't, you've obviously not played any games using bases and volumetrics for LOS. If you stopped cackling like a hyena and actually acquired some experience or literacy, you would know this.

The physical model should have no bearing on LOS. Modelling for advantage should never be an option. Volumetric LOS creates definable area where LOS can be restricted from. GW already creates multiple base sizes that facilitate this already and also has the benefit of allowing hobbyists to do more elaborate or bigger conversion works without being disadvantaged.
>>

>has to pay people to keep them in his life

>>

You are talking nonsense. If it can see a base you can see the model, so if you can't see the base you can't see the model, correct? So what fucking difference does it make?

What should we do about the Repulsor tank, then. The base it is supplied with is considerably smaller than the physical model. And you fucking speak of "modeling for advantage" lmfao you're fucking retarded.

Seriously just end your life before your genetic material further pollutes an already fucked gene pool.

The imperium should always be at least tangentially related in large scale events. Too big to ignore kinda deal, both in and out of the lore.

Mind, there's a lot of mileage in (imperium) versus (xenos), because of how many factions you have to choose from. Theme the narrative around (mechanicus) versus (orks), (deathwatch) against (necrons), (Imperial Guard subfaction #37821) against (eldar), or something. Set it on a random slab of rock, and then add the result to the ongoing history of the setting. Sort of like what they did with the ichar IV and armageddon (even if they handled armageddon's ending exceptionally poorly).

>>
>>55144816
>So what fucking difference does it make?
Volumetrics matter for height, mostly relevant for hovering models since as of now, TLOS means that any model flying on their bases are much easier to spot on the table due to them being likely taller than their peers.

Repulsor will need to be rebased. It already happened with regular Marines to 32mms anyway.

Anyway, you really got not much to say besides insults, so whatever. Play some other games, learn how LOS matters and calm down. There's other games besides 40k.

>>
>>55144944
>j-j-just play other games h-ha
Oh come on you faggot, you can do better than that. You talk a big game but you fall flat where your retardation carries the most weight lmao.

Marine bases were not changed because the model needed to occupy larger spaces for LOS reasons, since the game utilizes TLOS, not this volumetric shit you talk about. The bases were increased in size as a buff to marine units. It meant template weapons would hit less models in a squad. It meant marines could occupy more space in order to control more of the table for the same overall model investment.

Why do you keep talking about volumetric shit being of relevance, when it's not even part of the game's ruleset? It is absolutely pointless. You are pointless. Kill yourself.

New York was initially bought in parcels which were neatly organized. In fact, it was one guy doing nearly all the buying because he knew this place was going to blow up. Organizing them in squares and rectangles was the neatest way to parcel them for the sale, and very easy to define.

But there is no fucking rule about it, retard. You'd REQUIRE IT, and make the base the entire way LOS works in 40K, meaning there would need to be rules for bases. Stuff like that works in games like Infinity because it's much smaller scale, you can take the extra time to determine shit like that. 40K you need "I can see you over my guy's head, so I shoot you" because anything else would bog the game down.

Fucking leave the vehicles on the table if you want in friendly games, but don't be a fucking idiot about it. Alpharius IS his Legion. So long as there's an Alpha Legionnaire, there is Alpharius. At least, that's what I glean off this theory.

In a sense, other Legions take boons from various Gods, make pacts with various Daemon Princes, or worship some anomaly or artefact that gives them power. In Alpharius Omegon's case, they worship him, and the tainted Chaos boons they receive are Alpharius himself, spread amongst and living within the whole of his Legion.

In that instance, Alpharius Omegon is Alpha Legion. As he was one soul in two bodies, he is now one soul amongst the whole of his gene-sons. Which would make sense in how they can organize so well, they each have a part of their Primarch within themselves which allows them to cooperate as if they were of one mind, because they are partially of a single unified soul.

Then you remove from the game a lot of tactical nuance since if everything is predetermined and readily measurable then there can be no exploration of the mechanics, which in this case is maneuvering and model positioning.

You're just a faggot because you think by spouting shit about volumetric LOS it makes you seem clever and you imply that you're adding depth when you're doing the opposite. The Deredeo Dreadnought, also a Leviathan with storm cannons. Autocannons are fucking best against TEQ since they 1-shot them on a failed armour save, and have a high volume of shots.

For reference, a single autocannon at BS3 will kill a terminator every turn. The plasma gun can only do that on an overcharge, and has half the range. A Deredeo gets 4 of those, and packs a 48" range, so it can bitch slap termies from across the entire board. Because it's a bad rule. Especially for a game and community that tries to sell it as a modelling hobby. Any model airborne or on a scenic base is just more exposed and is punished for it. Chaos stuff is more bulbous that loyalist stuff due to spikes and flesh mutations.
Before you say "don't play with assholes", it doesn't matter whether this is a rampant problem a not. What matters is that it shouldn't be a problem at all. Rules for tabletop should not require discussion or bargaining to resolve outside of measurements being too minute for human perception or gambling/negotiation itself being the mechanic of the game.

Volumetric LOS gives a clear tube dimensions for each models and make sure that there's a basis for clear consensus that any player or judge or other third party to agree on. It also opens the option for actually hiding things behind models as a tactic, so if you want to do tactical model protection technique, it opens that up as a gameplay option.
I'm curious about
>...no exploration of the mechanics, which in this case is maneuvering and model positioning.
We already have a game that can premeasure distances, only now there has to be consensus discussed because the model's volume is on a case per case basis instead of being set. I also have no clue what you mean by exploration of mechanics. Mechanics should not require explorations. It should be plainly laid out with complete clarity.

I think you're forgetting that they also do 2 damage a shot. The deredeo's ACs are also S8, and hit on BS2. So they get to hit on 2s, and wound on 2s, with 8 shots that do 2 damage per failed save. In practice it's actually superb against terminators.

>Land Raider variants
The entire point of VDR was making a golf-cart with 60 lasguns glued to it.
>>
>>55145931
That's accounting for the 2 damage. A regular autocannon isn't all that flash against 2+ armor with only -1 AP.
>>
I wonder if they've expanded past the 10 codexes they had initially planned for this year and might have a couple more planned for December
>>
>>55145931
No I'm not forgetting, an ordinary autocannon at BS3+ will kill 0.29 terminators per turn

A deredeo autocannon is 4 strapped together with S8 and will kill about 1.85 per turn, which is pretty decent especially against storm shields.

It's just nice to have. In my own games, it's been a nice fire support piece. Like I had my Deredeo shred 2 hammernators off of a squad, so that another squad of tartaros termies could slide right on in and finish them off. It was apparently enough to wipe them.

It's far better against Primaris and Crisis, definitely. A full-volley from the Deredeo is usually enough to completely wipe a 3-man crisis team. Again, nice to have, although I rarely ever full-volley anything in practice. Getting gud at this game means spreading your fire out and weakening things before melee combat, so they can't fight back competently.

Probably stop with this one, as it has a good view of the datasheet. I see normal stats, plus CL WIL and INT. Is the COOL stat back? Also, there is Initiative, and this particular character is 125 credits. I wonder if these are quickstart sheets, as I don't see any obvious merc characters. There also seems to be something between Damage and Traits on the weapon, but I can't make it out.
