Game is set on the edge of a great desert, is more serious than not, more roleplay than combat, where power and resources are scarce and creativity is encouraged.

Game started almost a dozen sessions ago and already has several players, but due to one bowing out there is now space.
Previous experience unnecessary.

Looking for something based around politics and intrigue really. Command and conquest also sounds pretty damn fun but I wouldn't say no to just a bog standard adventuring party.

Fine with any Clan in L5R or any nation in 7th sea.

Honestly I'm expecting a specific system at a specific time as a player, I'm not expecting to get a bite here.

I've only got one evening free reliably a week and I've been reading the MnM book and have a terrible itch to punch some evil in it. I GM a lot, but I really don't like being GM as an intro to a system.

I don't flake, and if I've gotta split I give as much notice as I can. I've been GMing round these parts for maybe 3 years now. HMU.

No I'm not interested in a 'lewd game' you fucking virgin.

I run a few different games, a capes game, a fantasy dungeon crawl, a supernatural investigation game, a horror/investigative game. When I run any given game is a crap shoot. So if you're only interested in one of them I'm not sure this is for you.

Things I don't tolerate:
Arguing with the GM during the game (being bring it up after, not during, it wastes everyone's time And is rude to everyone)
I dont expect you to memorize the book, infact, don't do this.(I run some rules different from the books and will share these with you.) But I do absolutely expect you to know what your character can do.

Well this looks mildly intresting
Have you considered Mutants and Masterminds?
Also is there at least some general time for this?
I'm free on Saturday and Sunday Evenings, GMT +2 but this may not work with US time zones.
>>
>>55134644
I've played a LOT of HM5, and it's still really fucking dumb a lot of the time. Half the spells are jokes, a lot of the writing is pretentious (in the sense of the writers acting snooty when really they're just not really aware of why they're completely wrong or stupid), it's super imbalanced in a lot of ways, the skills have the most idiotic cost decisions possible, the EP scheme relies on constant combat to work unless you want your mage to be a physical god or you want your players to spend years of real-time to level up, the writing is super ambiguous at times and the rules are often contradictory (especially when bringing in the GMG) or just plain don't explain something at all.

It's also incredibly swingy, leading to random fumbles or crits ruining everything about half of any given combat.

It's fun when not taken seriously, but unless you houserule a shitton, I can't see how it works for a serious, grounded and combat-light campaign.

The apocalypse is soon to arrive, and the Horsemen will cometh.
Not all of Humanity is willing to roll over and die, and so they constructed heretical forces to fight back against the monsters, called 'Nephilim' after the giants of old. If they succeed, they might very well halt their progress and enable the world to carry on.

Are they truly -the- horsemen? That does not matter either way - what matters is the destruction they bring.

>Additional Notes
As the setting info suggests, this is intended to have a dark tone. I am utilizing a few extra systems in BCZ to help emphasize the idea of it being a desperate struggle. Think along the lines of, well, AdEva.

Recruitment ends after September 20th, or if I get 4 players I like before then. The game itself will start on the 22nd or 29th. Overall pacing is planned to be approximately 6-10 episodes, depending upon how much RPing the players want to do.

>It's terrible, unbalanced, and stupid, but I've played a LOT of it

>>
>>55139934
Yeah because the system works for beer 'n pretzels-type gameplay where the munchkins try to break the system and the GM allows it once, before houseruling it away.
Some of that abuse is so ubiquitous, easy and effective that the GMG backpeddles and "fixes" it. See: disengaging and reengaging.

I enjoy it, because its flaws don't matter too much to me when playing OSR-style. But if I were playing a modern-style campaign, I'd be tired of that shit within the first three sessions I'd wager.
>>

This will be a brand new Star Trek Adventures campaign. It will be set vaguely within the setting outlined by the official Living Campaign. The first few sessions will utilize the pre-prepared adventures just to get everyone (including myself) acclimated to the system. After that, though, the Shackleton Expanse is your playground!
Your vessel is the USS Arcadia, a recently-refitted Nova-class. The year is 2371, a mere week after the USS Voyager has gone missing. All player characters will be new transfers to the Arcadia. More details to come if you're accepted into the campaign!

Just an interest check right now, maybe a game if of it gets rolling.

A power rangers type game. All players are going to have basically the same set of powers, weapons, and tech. They will each have their own unique weapon and ability as well as their own skill set. More or less a simple power rangers thing at first until the meta plot gets rolling.

That's not your decision to make nor should you be attempting to control the board. Things are mercurial here and everything ebbs and flows.

When ERP games get large then they'll form their own ingroups where they'll GM for each other for a long while. In these periods ERP games will not be advertised, the games will become full and the ERP GMs will be GMing. Then when those splinter, break or fracture then more will be posted months or years later. That's how it works with all games.

Trying to shunt people out because of a temporary at best trend is not only silly but it alienates people. The more people you alienate the more people the board loses, the slower, more toxic and more dead it becomes and for a gaming thread such as this which is already an incredibly small community it's simply a bad idea to do that.

Let people be as people are. That's all you should do.
>>
>>55159166
You can thank the flaky faggot who dropped at the last possible second "because someone died." That and the other lazy faggot that still didn't have a character after 2 weeks. It killed the GM's motivation to do anything, or at least that's what we all figured. I don't blame him to be honest. ERP games last for maybe one to two sessions, then flake. They are, without exception, some of the shittiest games you can join.

>>

I don't really care desu. It's an anonymous board so I can be a fucknugget and as soon as I join a different reply chain it might as well not have happened.

I don't like ERP, and I don't want to see it become commonplace in the gamefinder I use. If it looks like it's going to, I'll take actions to prevent it. I'm not going to apologise for that.
>>
>>55159292
Not sure if we're talking about the same game, the GM was some guy going by Pax, but that makes sense. I'm just saddened because the whole un-repressed shamelessness of it was super refreshing, particularly given the setting and system, compared to my usual groups bizarre sanitized version of Exalted.
>>
>>55159329
Except that's exactly what happened. Unless you're talking about some other Exalted ERP shitfest that I somehow missed being posted. It's not a common system, so it's not really hard to narrow down which is which. I really wouldn't be surprised if it's the same GM changing his name so he can keep setting up everything then disappearing. Like he gets his rocks off on it or something.

I've had ERP games run for 2 years straight and be the most consistent games I've had both on the player and GM side. It's a matter of players, not of the content.

>Trying to shunt people out because of a temporary at best trend is not only silly but it alienates people.

I refuse to play, condone or interact with anybody who may be masturbating while roleplaying. You can try and argue that all is fair and let them do what they want, but no it's reaching critical levels now that it has become the norm. You join a game, you find out it's ERP or lewd or full of weird anime shit. This was always the case on discord, but now the majority of these threads are shitted up with people advertising or looking for erp games.

It's a cancer in this hobby and it is spreading. It is not my fault, nor problem that an increasing number of people have destroyed any prospect of having a healthy sexual relationship and now must resort to gaining sexual pleasure from other men anonymously.

Those who participate in such should be mocked, bullied and chased off so that new blood can come in. New gms that want to roleplay and create characters, tell stories. Not the fat, hideous fucker that hides behind his screen masturbating at the failure his life has become.

If I run a 3.5 game the classes you'll be allowed to play will be heavily limited by the campaign I intend to run, so that players are in the same ballpark of power.

Why horror in 3.5? I like running horror, I like D&D for my medieval high fantasy nonsense. I can put them together, so I do.

I prefer 3.5 over them because it's ridiculously complex. >You also assume that anyone that could possibly ERP is some sort of monstrous basement dweller parody instead of just a person that likes things you don't like.

The assumption is correct, outside of a few equivalent females. They pursue this because of a lack of actual sexual contact in real life, thus resulting in the need to gain it online with other men.

You're on a blue board. Go to /r9k/.

>"sex needs to be shunned and never talked about and no one dare imply it's fun" attitude.

It's not sex. I will say that again, it is not sex. You're circle jerking with other men. No sex is had, no penetration will ever occur. If it did, you would not need lewd games.

I tried running a Gaim-inspired Kamen Rider game using a /tg/ homebrew called "Henshin!" with heavily modified rules to allow for a more neo-heisei feel.
For example I had my players do their characters stats normally, lowered them by some arbitrary amount and had their default forms push them back up to their chosen values. This let me create alternate generic transformation trinkets and forms and stuff. It worked pretty well I think.

Opinions, assumptions, and straw manning; What a nuanced and well informed perspective you have! You've made a claim (putting all people who like ERP in the same boat), it's been refuted, and now the burden of proof to back up your claim is on you... but the only arguments (read: shitposting) you have to go on are wildly out of touch stereotypes.

Adding that picture of a crusader is either very subtle trolling, or you genuinely see yourself as championing a righteous cause, which in this case is worth far more derision than the concept of liking ERP.
>>
>>55179836
That's unlikely unfortunately. I'm not good enough of a GM to run for anons, and I'm in the unenviable position of forever GM who doesn't really want to do it any more.
>>
>>55178887
>>55178979

You know, let's assume for a moment you are correct and the people you're railing against are in fact just hopeless failures who have no hope of ever having a normal relationship, let alone having sex.

Are you honestly arguing that rather than have at least some measure of happiness and satisfaction from playing pretend over the internet, they should... what? Have nothing? Kill themselves? What are you suggesting as an alternative, if they're really such losers?

And no, I realize you don't care. But I don't care that you don't, either. Demanding people to stop having fun in a certain way without providing a good alternative is just fucking retarded, and no way to resolve anything.

>I'M ENTITLED TO MY ERP BECAUSE OTHERWISE I WOULD SUICIDE.

I mean
ERP doesn't have any place on a blue board. It's still lewd stuff in a place that's supposed to be non-lewd.

Plus, the idea that people should be able to freely throw their perverted content around openly is really troubling. It's making it more and more difficult for people to open the hobby to their friends, since the options these days for it are 4/tg/, roll20, or some hole-in-the-wall nobody's ever heard of
and 4/tg/ and roll20 are both full of people hitting each other up because they want cybersex, not because they want to really play games.
Very troubling.

>ERP doesn't have any place on a blue board. It's still lewd stuff in a place that's supposed to be non-lewd.
You would have a point if they were actually ERPing here, but they're not. It's just a game ad that says 'there may be fucking in this game'.
>>

Just like how the old ERP general was just a bunch of links to f-list profiles. Oh wait. They got booted to /soc/ because nothing they did resembled traditional games. Kinda like how cybering with in-the-closet neckbeards while claiming to use some system isn't traditional games either.

tl;dr: West Marches. Hexcrawl. PHB + case-by-case okaying. Power Attack-style feats are houseruled.

The Granite Aegis is a vast mountain range that separates civilization from the ruins of fallen empires and barbarians. The Dwarven shield-city of Kyth Turin occupies the only reasonably passable route into the wilderness. Whether drawn by the lure of the unknown, fame, fortune, or just adventure you have travelled to Kyth Turin with the intention to walk into the deadly wilderness.

What is a West Marches game? The two biggest components are exploring the unknown, and ad-hoc scheduling of sessions. Rather than have a set day to play D&D on, the players and DM decide 1) when they would like to play, 2) which adventurers will be going on this particular jaunt, and 3) where they would like to explore. One large conceit is that every session begins and ends in the city of Kyth Turin, the only point of true safety and stability on the map.

Why West Marches instead of a traditional game? I really, really like DMing and running once a week doesn't satisfy me. I'm hoping that with enough players I can run multiple sessions a week in the same setting, exploring the same stretch of wilderness. From a player perspective you can play as much or as little as you want. This accommodates people who would play every day if they could, as well as people who can only play once every other week due to other commitments. And with the more ad-hoc scheduling, only setting up games two or three days in advance, it's far less likely flakes will cause the game to fail on the launchpad.

>>
>>55182879
Fact: West Marches is literally impossible to run online without falling apart.
>>
>>55182879
Elaborate on this concept blease.

How does one fit a whole there-and-back-again adventure into a 4 hour text session? Rolling up new chars every session? If you're running multi-session games, what happens when a player flakes from that?
>>
>>55175852
Is this the right pdf?

>>
>>55184147
It's not a whole adventure but rather as much as you and your party can do in four hours. Or even three hours and dealing with a random encounter travelling the hexes back to safety.

This makes clearing out a large dungeon / fort / ruins / etc. a task for the entire group of players. You might go in, push through a few rooms / encounters, return to town. Other people scheduled a game the same week (or next) and push a little further into the dungeon, plus dealing whatever the denizens have thought up during the time in-between.

With this conceit flakes don't matter. They're already at town, so you just send the character back to civilization (aka retirement). In fact anyone who is happy with their character's wealth or wants to switch characters or even quit the game can Go East and retire, and make a new Level 1 character if they want to start fresh.
>>
>>55186135
Scenario: You're 2 and a half hours into a game, you're fighting skeltals, the priest goes "guys I gotta split, my daughter just took a nosedive on the stairs". What happens then?

To clarify, I'm actually p fucking interested in this game, but I don't want to write a cheque I can't cash.
>>
>>55186473
Honestly in that sort of emergency scenario I'd just assume direct control of the priest's character, taking a much more passive role with them so as not to influence decisions or roleplay them wrong, and keep going for the next 1.5 hours to close out the game session and get everyone back to Kyth Turin.

Looking at it from the other players' perspective, I'd want to keep the game going even if someone had to bail partway through.

And (though I wish I didn't have to say it, but flakes are real) if the same person keeps having emergencies at the exact same time every session then its time to have a chat with them.
>>
>>55132031
Looking for one more for this, starting in about a week and a half
>>
>>55157879
Be careful of what you wish for. Last time I managed to join a SR oneshot on /tg/, the GM insisted on using his own custom game that ran the game like a video game tutorial (Complete with AR popups) instead of food fight.

UNKNOWN ARMIES 3E

TIME 4PM-8PM GMT weekly, day will be discussed with players but currently available are: Mon, Tue, Thu, Sun.

SPACE Text on Roll20, ideally OOC voice chat with Discord but not required if you don't want to reveal your trueform tones.

MASTER Brothermanhyll#5147, a room will be created at a later date

SCRIPT Unknown Armies is a game about people meddling with powers they likely neither understand nor deserve, seen through a lens of humanocentric cosmic urban horror. The game will take your meat puppets to the depths of magick, the occult underground, your own sanity and the human condition as you pursue your greatest desires.

That said, in my experience the game is best experienced going in blind, but veterans to the system are welcome all the same. The game is very intimate and heavy on roleplaying, so i expect ability to portray a fairly whole human person through your character. As a GM i am heavy on atmosphere and tone, almost as if i'm fantasizing about being a film director, and in this case the one i'm going for is urban mystery combined with slice-of-life elements. If you have a penchance for conspiracy theories, deeply flawed human beings and sociology, this game will fit you like a glove-hole.

The actual details pertaining to the location of your misfortunate events will be discussed in Session 0, where we'll create our characters, pin down locations, relationships and whatnot to form the general framework and setpieces for the game.

DON'T LOSE YOUR MIND
