Few things. Death Guard codex art is just balls. Two big art pieces have been posted from the Codex and they're really good, no idea why GW didn't go with either of them.

Second... I'm considering getting the Limited Edition Codex... partly because it will likely have new art on the front but also because this is my first army and I really love DG so far.

Thoughts and experiences with limited edition codexes? From 8th?

You're joking, right? Guillman is much much better than magnus, and I say that as someone who plays UM and TS. Magnus is good, don't get me wrong, but Guillman has a better buffbubble, can't be targeted by most shooting, arguably better melee, has a better invul, better armor save, better warlord trait, gives free command points and he's cheaper than magnus.

Fulgurites are REALLY good at looking at big smashy melee monstrosities like Primarchs, Bignids, Dreadnoughts and pretty much any other single model, or small unit like Ogryns, since they'll just surround it and unleash 12.22 Mortal Wounds plus whatever the regular damage would do.
Against actual CC units they're pretty bad, since the good ones this edition like KBs and Stealers have loads of attacks or multiple fight phases and will generally completely blend them if they get the charge off. Goes very rocket tag, and since the Electros have worse saves against small arms and are slower they usually lose.

Hoping in the codex they get some handy stratagem and are generally not massively nerfed like the Kastys are probably going to. The one stratagem we've seen so far is pretty bad though, 2CP just to change a Canticle mid-turn? If it let you pick an already used one it would be good, but we don't have enough CP to be using them on that kind of stuff.

The new art specifically shows dudes from the boxes, and is very uninspired and dull. A lot of the older stuff was brimming with character and inspiration for conversions and did a fantastic job world building.

The older art was the reason 40k evolved as a setting and people made conversions and sculpted, to better attain their vision. There's a reason I've never wanted to convert a warmachine model.

Unfortunately GW has lost their way a bit with trying to "advance a story" driven by herohammer. They had an infinitely large playground to create campaigns and battlefields in and they decided to advance a ludicrous story line driven almost completely by asspulls, and artwork that shows nothing but adjective nounverber *tm firing ineffectually at each other at point blank range.

Are familiars worth taking for a GSC magus? Running only a 500/600 point list btw

and even then, you don't need to even waste your time on death hex, Guillman vs magnus comes down to who gets the charge off. If your casting death hex, it your turn, so you'll already win the fight mathhammer wise. And if it's not your turn, then Guillman will get the charge off and kill magnus.
But that's all besides the point, because
A) if you charge a primarch into another primarch your desperate or retarded
B) Guillman isn't better because of his melee ability, he's good because reroll all hit and wound within 6" for ultras, +1 to advance and charge and reroll morale and hit rolls of 1 for imperium units within 6", a chance to get any command point back on a 5+, and 3 free command points. The fact that he's one of the best melee units in the game is all icing on the cake. His real power comes in making already good units within 6" of him ungodly monsters. That's why he's better than magnus

WS are the closest no nonsense swordmen but they don't focus solely on melee and have that dumb bike and Mongolian gimmick. Maybe Storm Wardens? So am I reading the rules right if I gather that:

That an army just has to consist of detachments for it to be battle forged, and that those detachments just need to abide by their listed restrictions which usually means they need to share at least one faction keyword. So you can somehow have an Imperium detachment and a chaos detachment, and still be battle forged.

Added to this, judging from what I read on transports, I could get a bunch of dedicated transports from one detachment, and then jam whatever units from other detachment into them, regardless of faction keywords.

Am I reading this right? Because usually I'd assume that there'd be no fun allowed, but reading the rules I could find on it over multiple times, it seems like there are endless possibilities for the retarded armies I can make.

Part of what makes Wraith units so good for soul burst is their natural range is close, as such I don't think it's best to focus on sacrificial units to juice soulburst. Instead just take good units to soulburst off killing the other bastard and your own units will also die naturally. Harlequins are actually pretty good troops in Ynnari, as are bikes of all sorts. A few Kabalites or Rangers to camp objectives make sense as well. Aside from that Wave Sepents are recommended.

I like Bloodborne's design and themes.
I don't know many people IRL aside from myself and my best friend that actually likes Lovecraft's works though.
Also I like blood, both as a theme and a thing. The theme of power in blood is as old as dirt but damn is it one of my favourite themes. Bloodborne takes that theme and adds a dark twist to it by adding a level of grimdark to it, Lovecraft style.
Also cosmic horror is awesome.

I'm curious about the TS fans. Did your hatred of wolves come because of the lore or is it more coincidental?

I remember starting in 40k thinking that space ghost armor Egyptians with magic was cool and baby blueish gray mohawk guys who have to name everything wolf and don't wear helmets were fucking stupid.

It wasn't until later I discovered the fluff so I'm wondering if I was alone.

Slaanesh has a beastgor group, they're called Slaangors.
The Khorne ones are called Khorngors.
This is canon and I don't know why.
Anyway Tzaangors are bird-like goatmen, Pestigors are cancer goatmen, Khorngors are dog-like goatmen, and Slaangors are bull-like goatmen which are nearly impossible to tell apart from minotaurs aside from their size.
Warhammer minotaurs are usually really buff and thicc, while Slaangors are lanky as fuck for a minotauresque beastman.

So last I heard, Relic was begging and scraping for people to stop fleeing DoW3 like rats from a sinking ship; has it stopped being a shitty meme game yet? I want to know if I should cash in this 50% off coupon I got from Steam.
