The SCS was made as an addon to the CYOA to cover the combat side of roleplaying. It allows players to easily take characters made in the CYOA v1.5 and use them in Quests and long-running campaigns alike. Note that this system DOES require you to have a character made in the CYOA in the OP first.

This PDF covers the core rules of gameplay, as well as the methods of improvement and various spells and items magical girls use.

Typically, my mahous use a small benediction as their transformation phrase. The appeal to higher power implicit in it becomes something like an appeal to the puchuu, though; a small reminder to whom they owe their powers to, making a loyalty pledge of sorts every time they go into costume.

Poorly. I typically name them after an object in my sight. The benediction tend to be based off some Catholic prayer to a patron saint of something relevant to the character.

I was thinking about writing something based on this CYOA but with a 'historical fantasy' setting instead of the urban fantasy that's assumed by the PDF. 'Someone accidentally kills a AMGCYOA MG way before anyone's built a skyscraper or car.' is kind of the premise. Good idea or bad idea, I have no idea, but I wanted to get some feedback on it and some things that I wasn't sure about.

(Though, last time I read the PDF the only origin was accidental death-by-car, so maybe my knowledge is a little iffy.)

Like, how does the Overcity change? Does it change at all, or does it transcend time in that overarching way that it does space? IS there an Overcity when the world is less urban, or is the world overlaid by an Overforest or Oversteppe or something until the industrial revolution, since those are the two 'primeval' biomes?

Should the Puchuu keep their sort of 'magical alien' sci-fi feel or should I just write them like spirits or magical beings? I mean, the 'magical alien' thing is because current readers liken them to Kyubey, but should I write from the historical perspective instead, or play off the tension of how the reader perceives them vs. how the character does...?

I've got a few other things, but that's probably good enough for now.

Write what works- the Overcity is arguably in the eye of the beholder anyway, and Puuchu can be anything you want.

Well, it does make sense for there to be regions of the Overcity that represent other biomes. After all, the CYOA does mention that people sometimes go through the Overcity on the way home from work without realising that they've actually left their own city. If there are other universes where people are living in a lower technological state, it seems reasonable for there to be areas of the Overcity that look the same anyway
