What card would I run if it were cheaper? The list goes on. There also lots of cards I own only one copy of but would go in multiple decks if I had more. Also there are some cards that are within a price range I would occasionally get, but I have to choose between them and other cards in the same price range

Cards id play out of my range:
Dual lands, lion's Eye Diamond, ravages of war, candelabra of tawnos

Cards in my range but can't afford all of them:
Mox Opal, Force of Will, enemy fetchlands, metalworker

Cards i own but can't afford multiples:
Wheel of fortune, snapcaster mage, Demonic Tutor

I want to play it so badly. Such a classic and flavorful effect and it fits in any deck that uses mostly fliers (Like dragon tribal or Kaalia) or just wins without land creatures.

All of them. I'm one of those preorder morons. Got them for less than MSRP, about $29 each.

Thanks. I'll check out what the prices are like and mighy use them for some specific cards like Candelabra.
>>
>>55026491
If it had about $100 shaved off I'd buy one for each of my EDH decks with green.
>>
>>55026493
I think it's just going to be more cost effective for me to get the wizard deck then it is to be to buy singles from it.

Other than that teferis bathroom break and the new indestructible equipment I'm grabbing as singles
>>
I have a cradle and it's overrated. Obviously it is good and broken in some combos or with Mana Reflection but it's often win-more. Just to give some solace to those who won't ever buy one. Legacy Elves is what's made the price so high.
>>
>>55026910

Hmm I disagree, I think it should be banned actually. Single card in my green decks that has the greatest effect on whether I win or not
>>
>>55026493
Wizards and Dragons here.
>>
>>55026749
got them from Rudy?
>>
>>55026910
It's broken. You don't need to convince anyone otherwise. It's busted and it regularly creates enough mana to rival sol ring in terms of value.
>>
>>55026910
I agree. I play Cradle in Titania and while it shoots me ahead, it's only really good when I'm already winning. Don't get me wrong, the card secures your win, but it doesn't help you much when you're down.
>>55026939
I wouldn't be opposed to it being banned honestly, but not before Mana Crypt and Sol Ring. Gaea's Cradle rarely gives you an explosive start unless you're playing elves.
>>
>>55026990
I'd call it stupid the moment you hit two dudes on the board, 4+ dudes and it enters absurd value mode.
>>
>>55026671
I am really happy about cats archetype but i fucking hate the cat people. wish they all were just cats. balanced together cat vs wolf kitchen table decks to play with my wife so i get to play all the otherwise unplayable felines
>>
>>55026880
also order black core cards, they have much nicer printing
>>
>>55027026

I definitely think Sol ring and Mana Crypt should be banned, almost goes without saying, at this point those are only legal for the sake of tradition

Gaea's cradle is debatable I just land on the side of banning it
>>
I have a problem- every time I think of a deck idea to try out, it ends up containing red / back / both of them. Every single time. How do I stop this.
>>
>>55027239

Try mono green or mono blue, it's easier to justify adding a color when you're working with multiple already, mono color means you've got a strict limitation to work within
>>
>>55027310
is caged sun required for a mono colored deck?
>>
All right, I have an issue. I've wanted to do a deck with Jhoira for a long time because I love Suspend and her card is great, but when I go about optimizing the deck, it feels like every other Jhoira deck I've seen. Yeah, I get it, special snowflake and all that, but most Jhoira decks look like some kinda of pubstomp shit that folds whenever Jhoira can't stick, even the more tuned builds I've seen on tappedout.

I want to build her as a time themed (not necessarily extra turns) that I can pull out when I don't feel like playing my pure combo decks. I'll obviously have a few fatties in there like Blightsteel and Inkweel Leviathan, but what are some fun spells and creatures I can run with that wouldn't depend on me suspending them to be good?
>>
>>55027374

Not required but I wouldn't want to play mono colored without one, fairly cheap too compared to the other mana doubling cards
>>
>>55027375

I think the problem with jhoira is that suspending shit is just really bad unless it has a game ending effect, so your choices are pretty limited on how to build her, anything that's not mass destruction and game ending permanents like Omni of eldrazi is just gonna be too little too late, the other issue is that extra turns are even better than normal when you have suspended shit counting down so it's hard to justify not running extra turn cards

Honestly if you want to be a special snowflake with jhoira I would just not worry at all about what you play, play literally any cool blue and red cards you like because no matter what you do the deck is going to be trash
>>
>>55026493
Got em' all. Going to take apart Wizards to build Mr. Jank's cage, then lightly upgrade the rest to let friends play.

What's the cheapest way to make a useable 5 color manabase? I have a couple of cards like Mana Confluence, Exotic Orchard, Spire of Industry, etc. I will eventually get a set of Shocklands (and maybe even get accompanying fetches as well) but for now I want something usable but cheap.
>>
>>55027494
That's what I was afraid of. Every time I put in cards that looked fun to play and then started to optimize, the fun stuff was the first to get cut and it was usually something big and splashy going in its place. I love the idea of the Suspend mechanic and I wish there were more good cards with Suspend and cards that mess with Time counters that I could play, but Suspend doesn't and likely won't get much more love. I think I'll go ahead and use some extra turns and then fill it in with a control/spellslinger suite that isn't dependent on Jhoira. With that in mind, any cool spells I could throw around in the deck? If I'm going jank, I might as well go full jank.

If there's one thing I'd like to see in Dominaria, it's Suspend returning, but I doubt it would because the Time Rifts have already been fixed and they don't have any reason for Suspend to show up again. The recent return of Phasing (a 9 on the Storm Scale) gave me some hope, but I just don't see anywhere where it could happen.
>>
>>55027590
Honestly, some color fixing artifacts and basics would be better than what they put in the box. The deck will probably be heavy on Red, so skew your basic land count toward that. Use Signets and Talismans along with Green's basic land ramp cards. Kodama's Reach, Cultivate, Skyshroud Claim, etc. will help you shore up the lack of flexibility that comes with basics until you get your shocks and fetches.
>>
>>55027590
Enemy painlands and the BFZ duals are extremely cheap. They won't give you a perfect mana base by any means, but they'll be a huge improvement over the precon.
>>
>>55027590
Painlands and checklands I guess. Checklands also get better once you get shocks.

would running final fortune on isochron with sundial be hard to set up in grixis? of course theirs black tutors but what about artifact tutors other than like fabricate.
>>
>>55027603

Maybe go with an upkeep theme? Skip the mass destruction and eldrazi but go all the extra turns, and then just fill your deck with cool upkeep triggers and stuf like paradox haze
>>
>>55027823
I've got Paradox Haze in there for Suspend already, so that might actually work out pretty well. It's certainly something different and it sounds fun to brew. Looks like I've to start sorting through all of the cards on gatherer that have upkeep effects. Thanks for the idea, anon.

This is why my playgroup doesnt allow non foil cards anymore. It keeps people from paying overpowered nonsense and when they do they invested into that stretegy so its much fairer.

my group runs typically just temples, painlands and trilands. in the end, no one has a clear advantage over anyone else because no one gives a shit about manabases enough to spend real money on them

if all those cards were cheaper, then me and everyone in my group would buy then, and in the end we would all have the same speed decks anyway so it wouldn't really matter

as for op's question, i'd buy a bunch of the praetors if they were just cheaper

So I guess since /edhg/ is the only casual mtg board, does your lgs ever do the special events for mtg? Like the "Hunt Garruk" or "Slay the Hydra" for mtg? Or even the special modes like two-headed giant at some pre-releases? I don't want to play competitive magic, and am kind of getting tired of shops just setting up matches and playing standard tournaments at game nights.
>>
>>55032347
Stores do things that make them money, they have bills to pay and mouths to feed. If you want to change up what your local shop is doing, then you need to show them that there is more money in that then what they are already doing. Depending on the other players in the area, what you want may not be viable. Migrate to another store or give up.
>>
>>55032343
It depends on if your friends are faggots. I'm done helping one guy because he only ever plays the exact same decks and is too fucking chickenshit to explore new decks outside of Esper Artifacts. This is a fucking guy with Breya, Sharuum, and Memnarch decks. It's fucking tedious.

>>

>>
>>55032635
I love Magic and have played for years. I still love playing with friends, but the lgs scene in my area has gotten awful. Like I said, the same people all frequent the shops in the area so it's kind of created this homogeneous tone to the scene. Plus the shops close down and change ownership at a freakish pace, so its tumultuous as shit. The best shops around here are actually the shops that are general game shops and not focused solely on mtg, but they're starting to decrease mtg support because of the nature of the hobby around here.

I was looking at Gifts Ungiven and only just now realized that it's banned in commander. I expected it to be legal seeing how Intuition still is.
Is there anything else out there with a similar effect that isn't $30 like Intuition, or should I just pick one or two up? I imagine the price will only rise when people start buying them to use with Kess.
>>
>>55033117
In a competitive non-casual setting, because of the limited card pool, the best options for the best colors and the best curves were known, with little in the way of surprise or upset. It became of matter of picking the best deck and winning. I'm just mad that speculators jumped onto and spiked prices of a bunch of cards for a fad format that is dead.

Yeah, gifts, recurring nightmare, and Sylvan primordial all have no business being on the banlist. If the world is ready for hulk then these should be fine.

>>
>>55028782
It's hard to really explain the reasoning. I "understand" the sentiment, but I can't clearly put into words how it works.

If I was to make my best attempt, commander is sorta balanced by virtue of costs. You don't see Gaea's Cradel in every deck, so it isn't really common for someone to have all the most expensive shit in one deck. Usually this "budget factor" plays a big role in expected power levels and such. Very few people will honestly spend that much on a deck that won't win them money.

So when you see a deck with that 300$ card in it, it's like a unicorn with oohs and aahs. Then people talk about how they got the card ect. It's a social norm I guess.

When Kenny walks in with a deck made entirely of proxies he printed out (or at least the expensive cards), it feels very disengenuine. He put togeather a deck with expensive shit to win by not spending a dime.

Commander is a social, more laid back format. It isn't the place for someone to play competitively. If you were to do the same thing in a tournament setting, you would get thrown out. So why would you do it to the people you play casually with?
>>
>>55033853
But what if he wasn't to run casual, and totally not oppressive cards, like The Abyss that are only expensive by virtue of low availability?
It's not their fault Chains of Mephestos is a $300 card!
>>
>>55033483
The only cards that should be unbanned are Recurring Nightmare, Yawgmoths Bargain, Sway of the Stars and Worldfire
>>
>>55033853
In this way, Commander is somewhat reminiscent of the original concept for Magic. Cards like the Power Nine were designed with the idea that people wouldn't really be spending a lot of money on Magic and any given person may have a single one of those cards. The decks a person could build owning a single Mox Emerald aren't anywhere near as degenerate as what someone would build with free access to all of them.

With EDH, the fact most people have multiple decks tends to naturally divide their expensive and degenerate cards as they choose what decks are best served by those cards.
>>
>>55034146
>Yawgmoths Bargain, Sway of the Stars and Worldfire
>Cheaper Grizelbrand
>Cards that no one wants unbanned because they'll be combo'd with Teferi's Protection or suspended Rift Bolt
>>
>>55034165
Also the spirit of the format keeps the degeneracy at bay that is the downfall of 60 card kitchen table.
>>
>>55027375
jhoira was the general for my coin flip/stupid shit deck before I upgraded for narset and I honestly miss it like that. Narset has a tendency to out value people to death without even trying whereas Jhoira felt much more interactive and in tune with the rest of the table.
>>
>>55034211
>Teferis Protection
>12 mana in RW, the worst color combo
>Rift Bolt
>kills one guy
>>
>>55034146
Recurring Nightmare is banned because it's almost immune to removal.

Sway of the Stars is banned because it's basically "Okay, pack up this game and start over. Now we're going to play a fun Commander variant where you aren't allowed to mulligan and only have 7 life. Good luck." It's even more of a shitpost than Warp World or Scrambleverse.

Worldfire is banned because they didn't have the foresight to make it empty everyone's mana pools, so you just exile everything, put everyone to 1 life, and cast your commander. It fails to actually put the game into sudden death mode, because you have the advantage of your commander.

I shouldn't have to explain Yawgmoth's Bargain.
>>
>>55034311

It's Yawgmoth's Bargain.
>>

Worldfire too
Sway of the Stars shouldnt be since the only way to save your stuff is Teferis Protection
Yawgmoths Bargain I dont get, isnt Necropotence just as good, ones half the mana and you wait the others double and you dont wait
>>
>>55034324
Do you want Griselbrand explained as well?

Sure, you can't entomb a yawgmoth's bargain but it's a hell of a lot easier to dark ritual it out then draw half your deck and combo out for easy wins.
>>
>>55034371
I just want to run my foil copy
>>
>>55034357
>Sway of the Stars shouldnt be since the only way to save your stuff is Teferis Protection

There are also Suspend cards and effects like Quarantine Field or Sudden Disappearance.

It's nothing to do with combos using it though. It's mostly it's the fact that if it behaves exactly as it's expected to without any abuse, it just starts the game over but turns it to shit.
>>
>>55034357
>Necropotence just as good
Triple black, harder to cast in multicolored.
Delayed draw, makes exiles cards you discard and puts the cards into your hand just before you have to check for hand limit.
Bargain puts the cards into your hand immediately and can't be responded to because you can just activate it again when they target it.
You'll still be able to cast sorcery speed spells and creatures since the cards aren't coming into your hand at the end step.

It's a staggering difference when your decks are cEDH level.
>>
I'm building one of each monocolor deck but for green I can't decide between Omnath or Yisan. Which one do you guys think is more fun to play? What are come cool themes/tek I could use for either? I'd probably focus on X spells and mana dumps for Omnath, or a casual toolbox control thing for Yisan.

They're not exactly hard removal like Devouring Light or Path but they still have their uses in some scenarios, right?
>>
>>55034532
O-Ring even more so. In the right deck it can easily be hard removal by getting rid of it with the ETB trigger still on the stack. It's probably why O-Ring is in the top 10 white cards. Hanna is especially good at that sort of thing.
>>
>>55034532
I run Cast Out mainly because it's intant and I wanted removal to tutor with Enlightened Tutor. It can also be cycled and then "reanimated"
>>
>>55034572
>O-ring
>can be abused for hard removal, 1 mana less
>Cast out
>Flash, cycling
I like O-ring, but if you want an approach like that Fiend Hunter is typically the way to go since he can be flickered and sacrificed much easier.
Of course he can't hit problematic enchantments or artifacts, but having an O-ring without the ability to ditch it before the exile trigger resolves can be a bit problematic in itself.
>>
>>55034532
O-ring and Cast Out still have their place as all purpose single target removal. Bonus points if you have a re-usable option to bounce them back to hand so you can keep exiling commanders.

Run lots of cards that let you put cards from opponents decks into the graveyard, exile cards (of your choice) from graveyards, board wipes that destroy creatures, ect.

You want to survive to turn 8 (obviously) so run lots and lots of removal and graveyard manipulation cards. That way, when you get a "random creature" you can control what it is.

That or just run a lot of shit that lets you untap her indefinitely so you just play yoyr opponents graveyards.

Good luck trying to recoup your money in 3-5 years time, as that will be the required time to organically grow that investment.

I don't get this buyout craze. The -real- money is in old complete sets, P9 and sealed product. Buying out a single card feels very much like buying toxic assets.
>>
>>55030621

>>55030732
What I'm not seeing here is "Where's the demand?"

Like, you buyout Shahrazad and hike the price way up and then who are you selling them to? Who the fuck cares about Shahrazad? The reason they had been relatively cheap despite being ancient is because nobody really wanted them. At the inflated price, good fucking luck offloading them.
>>
>>55035633
Part of it is that if anybody does want one they will have to shell out, and magic players DO shell out. But the majority of the demand is artificial. Get in early on a buyout when a card is 30, wait until they climb to 100+, then sell them quickly for 20$ less than what everyone else is charging. You are likely selling to other "investors" and cutting yourself out of some profit, but it flips very quickly.

I dont know if I should get the wizards or the dragons deck. I've always liked dragons and already own a bunch of the cards that would go in there minus the shocks which would be pretty much the only upgrade I'd need to buy, but I'm afraid that I will get bored of it so fast because there's nothing much to playing dragons. also I already have a Xenagod deck. Wizards in the other hand looks much more interesting to play with but I don't even know if I can build it so that it can hold up against other decks without it being degenerate. plus, Id have to spend more money on upgrading it, and there's also a grixis pirate commander that I was interested in. what to do?
>>
>>55027723
Withering boon, phyrexian reclamation. Counter her when she comes in, return her to your hand, cast normally.
>>
>>55036893
A lot of people are underestimating Ur-dragon.
He's not the toolkit that Scion is but that passive cost reduction will let you drop some nasty shit on curve, assuming you do something about the manabase.
Run a Dragonlord Dromoka and some other Dosan effects to make sure you can cast him late game and his ability will make for massive snowballing since you're paying 9 mana for a 10/10 that will most likely draw you a card and let you drop a card for free on each of your turns from now on.

If we're talking straight out-of-the-box wizards needs the least improvement before it can start doing some mighty degenerate things, like Venser, Panharmonicon, Sundial, Ashnod's and so forth.
>>
>>55037032
not saying ur dragon is not good. cost reduction is very powerful. I mean its a straightforward deck to play. you ramp, play dragons and swing. with wizards you can play control and then at times use inalla's ability to deal direct damage to someone, then do blue senanigans to untap them and do it again, and then take an extra turn and repeat, and so on. and yes id need those cards you mentioned but many many more. Id keep like 10 from the precon and some lands. maybe im better off buying the singles for that deck
>>
>>55037167
If you think hard enough almost every deck becomes straight forward.
>Draw/tutor into powerful shit
>use certain cards to abuse it
>set yourself up for win

I really want to run Dragons tribal with an enchantment subtheme, Ur-dragon is perfect for cheating out all the expensive shit you typically have to forego a creature drop or two for.

Thought Vessel and Mind Stone are good. Prismatic Lens is acceptable. Prismatic Lens might seem odd, but the fact it comes in untapped lets you play rocks or other things off it so it doesn't hurt your curve too much. Star Compass is the next tier down. If you're really desperate, you can even go on to Fractured Powerstone.

Diamonds are legit

When looking for Boros ramp, pick from these.
>Sol Ring
>Mana Vault
>Mana Crypt if you can afford it
>Grim Monolith, again if the price tag isn't your concern. It's not as good as Crypt though.
>Boros Signet
>Fire Diamond
>Marble Diamond
>Coldsteel Heart
>Thought Vessel
>Mind Stone
>Prismatic Lens
>Everflowing Chalice
>Heart of Ramos
>Tooth of Ramos
>Magnifying Glass if you value some extra slow draw
>Worn Powerstone
>Hedron Archive
>Commander's Sphere
>Darksteel Ingot
>Thran Dynamo

With the last five being more dubious
>>
>>55037430
It depends on budget, and how important it is for you to hit your colours with every rock.

There's sol ring and mana crypt as a given (depending on budget for the latter).

EDH-legal moxes such as mox opal, chrome mox, mox diamond depending on budget and deck.

If you need coloured mana badly, there's coldsteel heart, diamonds cycle or loads of 3 coloured rocks.

Cheap but reasonable 2 mana colourless rocks: fellwar stone, mind stone, everflowing chalice.

Allied colours have an easier time though.

Hello new friends!

I need help building a deck, really want to build around stealing/copying things and torn between Rubinia or Merieke.

Merieke would give me options to reanimate which is a cool way of stealing things, but Rubinia has green so ramping into stealing effects without her would be a lot easier.

Anyone have any experience with this kind of thing? Which would lets you steal/copy better? Not really expecting to win many games, just more for fun really.

>Tribal is fun

i only see tribals as restrictive. all the effects are familiar from other older cards, except they're restricted to some specific creature type (see vampire sun titan), and that's somehow supposed to be interesting?

i really don't understand how people can find it fun to drop tribal anthems on curve to make their shitty vanilla 3/2 beaters into vanilla 6/5 beaters. there's really nothing interesting about that whatsoever. i even sexually identify as a timmy with johnny tendencies, so i don't understand who finds this garbage fun

because instead of reprinting the actual cards which are actually expensive and desperately need reprints which will be used in eternal formats forever wizards decided to print shitty versions of them that will be played for all of a year before becoming useless while the actual version will continue to rise in price and continue to be prohibitive to players getting into other formats

are you stupid or something? i feel like that was pretty obvious

Both Rubinia and Merieke synergize with effects that allow you to untap your own creatures (Do so in response to the steal ability and you can steal multiple on the same condition) but Merieke has the decency to kill, rather than surrender, her victim if she untaps, dies, or gets stolen herself. Also, since Merieke's theft duration is as long as you control her and her "Get rid of that old thing" mechanism is destruction, if you can give her hostage(s) indestructible you can untap her to steal more without losing the old stuff, while Rubinia gives back what she stole if she ever untaps, so you'll have to sac it or let it go once you've done your "initial" stealing frenzy. The difference in their abilities is several points in Merieke's favor. The sole point here in Rubinia's favor is that you can just willingly untap her if you want to steal more different shit while you need to use an external source of untap to bring Merieke back online. (but you should be running approximately all of those anyway)

Both of these bitches will have targets painted on them the instant they're on the battlefield. Rubinia's is worse, since your opponents can get their stuff back at least in theory if they crack her open. Neither one of them has a really good defensive ability (Regeneration, indestructible, shroud/hexproof) so they're going to be relying on your help to live. Rubinia is technically a 2/3 to Merieke's 1/1 but if you think those two points of toughness are going to matter in EDH, even against red, what are you smoking and why aren't you sharing? Call this a wash.

In terms of color identity, I think you're right that Rubinia is a little stronger. But IMO the key word is 'little'. Bant and Esper are the two most potent arc identities, and while Esper lags a little except in Artifacts and Combo, the effect of color identity on power level is pretty negligible compared to other factors like budget and choice of commander.
>>
>>55038289
to make you upset personally because you are a massive faggot who gets upset of dumb shit
>>
>>55038257
Cavern just got reprinted. The new land is an uncommon, so it'll show up more in drafts.
>>
>>55038306

Lastly, Rubinia costs two mana more than Merieke. True, green gives you better ramp, but artifact ramp is already pretty good and that's basically a round of commander tax right at the start, which really hurts if you want to be doing enough stealing to actually oppress board. Merieke can come down before other players have really developed their board and set their plans in motion, at five mana Rubinia generally won't, and again it's easier to recover from Rubinia than from Merieke.

Of the two, I think it's pretty clear that I'd take Merieke. They are both pretty fun commanders, with the potential to go really mean. Rubinia can run Spitting Image, which is good fun, but Merieke could put The Scarab God in her 99 so that even death ceases to be an escape from her. In the end, its going to come down to a few factors: do you want it to be harder to stay ahead when you reset, or to reset at all? How much does your meta value speed? Are you willing to play the graveyard game or are you up against Meren and friends where you need to hate it out instead? Which one is Your Waifu?.

My ultimate recommendation is to use tappedout to brew a list for each, then the playtest feature to see how they feel in a vacuum -- when you come online, what it takes to get your engine running, and so forth. True the more interactive elements of your deck like counters and protection won't get their workouts, but you might be able to gauge a difference

Lastly, a little tech for either one of them
>Swiftstride Boots/Lighting Greaves
>Magewright's Stone
>Thousand-year Elixir
>Rings of Brighthearth
>Freed from the Real
>Umbral Mantle
>Ashnod's Altar/Phyrexian Altar (Yes even in Merieke, might as well get some value out of a chump and she will eat boards alive with Ashnod's and Umbral)

ok everything you just wrote sounded like pointless wishy washy bullshit to me

it's blatantly obvious that you aren't even trying to be unbiased about this. you fabricated a story about someone who plays gaea's cradle in a casual EDH game gets nothing but compliments and adorement, and then some fucking kenny douchebag walks in with 30 BILLION PROXIES and everyone hates him for playing gaea's cradle because it's made of plastic and not wotc(tm) cardboard. i'm surprised you didn't have kenny run out of the store in tears and have the whole LGS clap

in the end, either the card is too good for casual EDH or it isn't. no one is going to start asking about the authenticity of a Sol Ring alter because that card is less than a dollar despite being really strong. i often complain about Sol Ring and Mana Crypt ruining EDH games, but only complaints about Mana Crypt get me called a poorfag. apparently it's inconceivable to dislike an expensive card for any reason other than le sour grapes strawman

if someone brings a gaea's cradle to a casual table, chances are it's a "that guy" regardless whether the card is real or not. either he is starting an arms race with a fake card, which makes him a dickhead, or he's driving up the group power level with a real card, which means he's a dickhead who is 300 dollars poorer than the other guy

also lmao what is this line

>Commander is a social, more laid back format. It isn't the place for someone to play competitively. If you were to do the same thing in a tournament setting, you would get thrown out. So why would you do it to the people you play casually with?

first you say that EDH is definitely not a competitive format and that it's casual, and then you immediately jump to compare casual EDH to a tournament setting, and then you jump back to claim that you shouldn't proxy in casual EDH because you wouldn't be able to do it in competitive tournament EDH (which doesn't even exist)

i bet you're a binder system user too

Go with things that are interesting to suspend. Clone effects, wheels, anything that alerts the board to two important facts:
1. You aren't immediately going for eldrazi titan extra turn omniscience, which won't do a lot to get the target off your back but might at least get them to give you breathing room, and
2. Create political situations. With a wheel inbound, people are going to want to play out their good cards in a hurry, and with a clone effect, people will try to hold on to their good cards until after it hits. It's difficult to go political when most players will be at your throat, but not impossible.

Try to divide your deck into two thirds "Things I don't need or want to suspend" and one third "Things I probably don't want to hardcast or will need to be suspended", and have a subtheme for both.
