One that my GM tells from, I believe, an AD&D game. Its secondhand, so I may be getting some of the delivery wrong.
>game draws some inspiration from Escaflowne, in that there exists tech powered by the hearts of slain dragons
>party is hunting dragons to power tech
>particularly evil and notably vain blue dragon in the area
>party bard/face gets an idea
>starts buying up all kinds of canvases and painting supplies
>party treks out to slay the dragon
>dragon comes out of its lair, menacing
>"all who approach my lair should be prepared to be eaten"
>bard launches into a speech
>"If you wish to kill us and eat us that's fine, but I'm a painter from a faraway land, and I could die happily if you would only allow me to paint your magnificence"
>The bard is obviously laden down with painting supplies, so the dragon begrudgingly accepts the bard's offer and allows him alone entry to the lair
>bard sets up easel, canvas, etc., begins painting
>after a time, bard gets angry (IC) and rips the canvas to shreds, saying it's all wrong
>does this two or three times, explaining he wants to make this painting perfect, and the dragon obliges, albeit confused
>eventually gets so frustrated (still IC), he tears down the easel and canvas, and starts wildly waving the paintbrushes through thin air, paint and weak illusion magic splashing everywhere
>after a few minutes of this, the hard exhaustedly says that it's finished, it's perfect
>dragon is confused, obviously doesn't see anything
>bard says you have to want to see it
>"I want to see it!"
>"You have to want to believe!"
>"I want to believe!"
>Bard casts hypnotic field, makes the argument OOC that it should be no save, since the dragon wanted to believe
>DM allows it
>"And that's how we saved the land"
Goddamn, I wish I'd been there
>Sci-fi techo-magical campaign
>Playing a mage, accompanied by a teleporting rogue and an engineer
>Befriended the Archdemon of Death (who was supposed to be an antagonist) because I impressed him with a lucky nat 20
>He gives me a spell that allows me to teleport to a world full of Eldritch creatures made of metal that feed on each other and the ruins of an ancient civilization
>A few sessions later, a major city is attacked by a legion of Android soldiers from another world who are conquesting the universe
>Everyone reached the mothership in their own way
>Rogue stealthed his way, engineer raised an army of civilians and Mad Maxed
>I decide to get my own army and go to Eldritch World
>DM doesn't understand what I'm doing
>Collect small army of monsters using Dominate Beast
>It finally clicks
>DM almost shits himself laughing when I set a horde of metal eating monsters loose on a horde of Androids
>They tear apart the mothership and kill everything without us even having to fight
