Why is it only artifacts as a card type that's always getting broken in half? Is it because they're colorless? It can't be just that, because it seems like Paradox Engine would be crazy even if it were, say, an enchantment. Theros sucked, but Mirroden and all the other "artifacts matter" blocks have been great for artifacts. It's even harder to remove artifacts, at least cheaply: there's no cmc1 "exile target artifact," but Erase has been printed and reprinted loads of times at common. Why can't Wizards balance their toys?

I would be hype for Dragons, except they managed to botch every single one except Ramos, who has cheap 90s CGI for art that looks more like some arcbound Amonkhet golem than one of the Brothers' Dragon Engines. Yeah, but I really wish he actually reflected the design of the Primordials. It's hype he's finally gotten a card, and unlike O-Kagachi it's actually somewhere near the scope he deserves, but the flavor is still off when it seems it would have been really easy to get right. Just disappointing.

Anything with ETB value ala acidic slime and flicker stuff, Zegana isn't hard to build because it's a simple value deck, the only things to watch out for are humility and torpor orb because they turn off like half your deck, so stuff like nature's claim and krosan grip are a must, plasm capture is pure value too.

Dragons has the best top end, but the Vivids and other weak parts of the manabase are going to get you killed. You can get away with it in Multiplayer, but it's weak 1v1. How do I make pic related work?
On paper she seems quite good for a beater, only problem is >Boros.
Heartless Hidetsugu, Mind's Eye, Blood Moon effects, and mana rocks come to mind.

Since she [should] be ID a lot of the time I feel like a more controlling way of sitting back and denying big plays would be good as she should be quite sufficient on her own for closing out a game.

I'll give her a spin tomorrow and see how she fares. An idea I had was resetting life totals with cards like Arbiter of Knollridge so that Anya stays big and I get to kill them with commander damage. A 7/7 flying ID beater will be big enough to finish a game in 1v1.

Arbiter sets EVERYONE'S life total to the highest. So unless "the highest" is still 20 or less, it doesn't work.

And even if it did work, you're planning on 3/4 killing each of your opponents once, and then half-killing them again? That's the reason you have to go all-in on Infect (or have Triumph of the Hordes to kill in one go) rather than throwing in 4 or 5 random Infect guys into a deck- it's much faster to kill somebody once than to 3/4 kill them twice.

The creatures must attack if able- they aren't forced to pay to attack you, but if there's an opponent they CAN attack without paying, they have to. Hey, /edgh/. Standard and French finally consumed the remains of my once crowded LGS playgroup. Around September it'd be a year since I tried playing EDH with real people, in a store with some systematic duel commander leagues. Largest table we had was 8 people, but now there are only 2 other people willing to engage in "casual" fun (still competitive as fuck, but not legacy tier). I've dropped about a 6-7 hundred bucks on cardboard in a year and so far I've got to either get used to dueling (which I dislike) or give it up

They are pretty cool guys overall, even the people who play the most oppressive spike shit are fun to hang out with. Part of the reason I even bothered to go there few times a week. That being said, the enjoy different aspects of the game and can't get their heads around the notion of playing sub-par cards and feel insecure engaging in politics. On the game experience/piloting skill they are quite ruthless so they only feel at home with an extensive banlist and then try to break it. There are a lot of newer players too, but they've burnt out on the format rather quickly, returning back to their FNM prizes.

The store was WotC-sertified, so it had strict rules on proxies. Outside of it I could just proxy entire decks on the cheap, playing gold-bordered cards, etc so there are little incentive to buy real cards (or go anywhere for that matter). I've had an experience managing a small 5 ppl tabletop group (where I provided the games and the table) and I know how stale it may get after a while, unless people are EXTREMELY devoted to the hobby

if you are playing a tribal deck the chances are you have more non creature spells than you do creatures of a tribe that isn't a part of your main theme. ex. in a vampire deck you probably run mainly vampires, instants, sorceries, enchantments, and artifacts. maybe one to 4 non vampires but the point is very little creatures aren't a part if the tribe .uncharted territories gives you mana for all of those and color fixes you for vampires , ancient ziggurrat color fixes you for vampires and the 3 or 4 non vampires creatures but gives you nothing towards the other spells. you could just run both but in a tribal deck ziggurat is worse
